Fantastic experience: I love working out with Barbara. Be it at her studio, or since the pandemic, we have been doing Virtual classes. Virtual has been great because the workouts are tailored for me and I don't think we have done any workout twice. I'm always amazed what we can do be it Aerobics, pilates mat exercises, kangoo, and using very little equipment. What have I learned during the pandemic is that it's still important to exercise. Private lessons with Barbara have always lifted me mentally and physically. I feel my spine and core are more stabilized and stronger. My joints feel looser and I generally feel balanced. I have degenerative disc in my back, so keeping moving is a must even if I don't feel like it, on those days the payoff is always higher. Barbara is also a super amazing trainer and lady! She even exercised a painful stuck kidney stone out !! Love private pilates Susan Kline
Fantastic experience: In my opinion, the thing that truly sets this studio apart are its aesthetics. From brightly painted walls adorned with gorgeous artwork to the various antiquities throughout, this studio was designed meticulously and beautifully to truly fully envelop a person into a state of relaxation. Which is necessary, because apparently Pilates is really hard! I lift a lot of weights, swim regularly and kangoo several times a week, so I'm in fairly decent shape, but Pilates was able to show me that I'm not hitting all my muscle groups just doing cardio and being a gym rat. With only one lesson at Private Pilates, my legs felt as tired as they do after leg day at the gym, but stronger, as opposed to weaker. Barbara's instruction and conscientious attention to detail, in addition to her top-notch equipment (I always thought Pilates was all mat work, similar to yoga and boy was I wrong), gave me a workout I'll never forget and am definitely going to keep coming back for more. While a bit more expensive than the group classes I'm used to, the one on one instruction more than makes up for it. I've been to several Pilates studios/classes before, but Barbara was the first to notice irregularities in my hip alignment and the placement of my left knee. Beyond making me cognizant of these problems, Barbara offered me with plenty of advice on how I can correct the issues, both by adding slight changes to my normal workout and through the use of Pilates. I didn't feel like I was working out with a personal trainer; this felt more akin to a physical therapist who wanted to give me a good workout. The amount I have learned about my bodies strengths, and more importantly, weaknesses, through Barbara's keen observations and decades of experience has been invaluable to me in my constant quest for wellness. I can't wait to learn more!
Fantastic experience: Barbara is a great Pilates instructor and I would definitely recommend her! We’ve been working together for almost 2 years and the lower back pain I had before starting Pilates went away after 5 sessions. She’ll push you to do your best and at the same time respect your body limits and make sure you’re doing the correct form.
Fantastic experience: I have been a runner all my life, but never really concentrated on core strength, upper body strength or flexibility. I decided I would try Pilates and that’s where I found Barb. She has been an excellent instructor. She has immense knowledge of how the muscular skeletal system works. Barb is very careful in teaching proper form during Pilates to avoid injury but to also know how to push physical limits to gain desired results. At her facilities she incorporates both Pilates a mat or reformer work. Barb has been amazing at helping me improve my flexibility, my core strength and upper body strength. I would highly recommend trying Private Pilates.
Fantastic experience: I've been working with Barbara for a little over 2 years now. She is extremely dedicated to health and fitness and it comes across in the workouts. She coaches and encourages you with voice commands throughout the workout which I find very helpful. Proper form is also important to her to prevent injury. I wasn't sure how successful I'd be because of old injuries to my knee and shoulder, but she modified the exercises to compensate for that. Love her studio too! Very clean and neat. Since working with her, my body has become firm and toned! She makes working out fun! At 53, I am in the best shape of my life and it's thanks to Barbara!!!!
