Fantastic experience: I joined Portside Fitness one week ago and love it. I told my husband all about it, and he decided to join. He loves it just as much as I do! Our instructor, Tanya, is fantastic! She is always smiling and excited to help everyone on their journey no matter whether a beginner like myself or seasoned like my husband. She is a true cheerleader! I won’t go anywhere else!!
Fantastic experience: We have all been intimidated to step into the world of fitness as beginners. I believe I represent many of us when I say, I wanted to lose weight and get healthy but still wanted to be able to eat what I enjoy and was far from being able to dedicate hours to the gym every day! I knew I needed to be realistic with myself this time around. I had recently returned to the U.S. after being overseas for more than a year. I gained an unhealthy amount of weight (70lbs) in that time and knew I needed to do something about it. The issue is that I tried to diet, exercise, and eat healthier several times during that year and each time would get discouraged and make excuses for giving up within a few days. The truth is, I was being unrealistic and somehow wanted the weight to magically fall off. If only it worked like that!!! ????. I knew that simply joining a gym and working out by myself wasn’t going to work for me. I needed to find something that was going to hold me accountable so that I could hold myself accountable. Nothing does that like Portside Fitness! When I say it’s like the “Cheers” theme song and everybody knows your name… they do! Not only do the Coaches make you feel welcome, so do the other Members of the gym. The atmosphere is inclusive, and they strive to make it a family environment. Dogs and kids are welcome and I love it! It makes me smile every time I see a dog running around the building with their person! The owner, Sara has really taken the time to make Portside accommodating and a fun place to work out. I’m on my last month of the three-month fitness/nutrition program and I don’t have the words to express how great it’s been. There are moments I wanted to give up and find excuses for not working out but my fitness Coach Tanya refused to let me give up. This program teaches you more than just looking at the number on the scale and that there is a lot more to losing weight than exercise. A huge part of it is mental and until now, I never truly understood it. I believe the most important lesson I learned from this experience is that no one eats a “perfect” diet. It’s normal to splurge on something not-so-good-for-you every now and then. The key is to limit how much of these unhealthy foods you eat and not to feel bad about yourself if you have a treat here and there. It’s not all or nothing. Keep it simple, make small changes, and you will see results. You don’t have to be perfect or hard on yourself. It doesn’t have to be so strict that you get discouraged. Portside Fitness is realistic. They teach you it’s all about finding a balance. If you are looking to have fun, get healthy, and make a few friends along the way, this is the place for you. Fantastic experience: I made the decision to join Portside Fitness after admitting to myself, after two decades of struggling to meet my health and fitness goals on my own, that what I was doing was no longer working and I would need to do something different to see results. I wanted to find a place that took a holistic approach to fitness, and one that would provide a solid support system, something I have also lacked on my fitness journey. And though I have only been an active member for about two weeks, and am still very new, I have already started to feel as if Portside Fitness is a second home. That's how welcoming this place and the people are. For those who are contemplating Portside Fitness and are nervous or anxious about it, let me assure you that I was absolutely terrified prior to doing so. I am not only unfamiliar with a gym environment, but I am completely new to Crossfit-style workouts, group classes, as well as barbell lifting. I have no experience whatsoever and I was so afraid for multiple reasons. Would I embarrass myself? Am I even capable of these workouts? What if I forgot how to do the movements? What if I was much slower than everyone else? But everyone at Portside has been so wonderful in not only their support but in their teaching. They are very knowledgeable and have helped me immensely in just the few workouts I have done with them. And every time I leave I feel like I can do absolutely anything. Even though I am still nervous prior to the classes and still have a lot to learn I am grateful that I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and took this leap. I am excited to see what my body and mind are capable of!
Fantastic experience: I'm entering my second week at Portside, and I can tell you I don't know of another gym like it on the Coast. The atmosphere, the education, the coaches, the other gym members--I feel like everything and everyone is working toward my success. I hadn't been going to a gym for a couple of years, so I was a little "nervous" to get back into things. Sara instantly put me at ease in our first meeting, and things have been going so smoothly ever since. I'm very excited about this journey, and I'm so glad to be experiencing it with the people at Portside.
Fantastic experience: I’m a 57 year old woman and like many others I’ve put myself behind everyone else. I’ve found myself over weight, depressed and eating comfort foods. I kept seeing the Portside Facebook page about Boot Camp and I just kept thinking I should call and get a consultation. So I did, what a great move it was. I love having a support team helping me with my emotional distress, nutritional coach and then you have a personal trainer pushing you physically. I’m only 2 weeks into my 90 day program but I’m feeling great and feeling stronger with every workout. I can’t wait to see my end results.
