CrossFit® Asteria: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great gym with really awesome people. The workouts are intense and yield amazing results!
Fantastic experience: Close-knit group I spent about three months here working out and getting to know the community before another job transitioned me out of the local area. This being the third Cross fit gym I've been to. The owners, Jason and Crystal, are excellent at what they do and always strive to maintain an atmosphere in the gym that is direct yet friendly, hard working but approachable. The community will actively encourage your effort as you get closer to your goals and there's a high chance you will make some friends along the way. I recommend Cross fit Asteria and I would come back.
Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to drop in at this gym over the holidays and it was great! The gym is run by a fun and incredibly nice couple. I messed up on when I thought their class hours were and they allowed me to have open gym during their office hours, being super accommodating. The gym itself is very clean and filled with new and organized equipment. Also, finally, the atmosphere in the gym very fun, energetic, and supportive! Thank you again Crossfit Asteria!
Fantastic experience: loved the Saturday class, very welcoming to first time visitors. Loved the workout & atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: My husband has been doing CrossFit for two years now. He started at another box in the area but moved to CrossFit Asteria because the gym was much bigger and really really clean. He had been trying to get me to try CrossFit since he started 2 years ago, but I refused to be a part of it. My view of CrossFit was that it was a reckless sport full of meatheads slinging weights all day. Well, this August my husband got a new job that required him to travel A LOT. He was not able to attend CrossFit anymore and had one more month remaining on his membership that he had already paid for. I couldn’t let this money go to waste, so I reluctantly showed up to CrossFit Asteria to finish out his membership. One class and I was hooked! I have been a member of this gym for 3 months now and I attend nearly everyday! It is nothing like I thought it was. Everyday the classes are so different from the day before, I can’t ever see getting bored of this. In my opinion, it is more like a boot camp class with a weightlifting move here and there. My misconception was that it was all weights all the time (I think this probably differs from gym to gym). The gym is owned by a mother-daughter team that are really passionate about their gym and CrossFit. They have a staff of very attentive coaches that explain every movement everyday no matter your experience level. You are getting a personal trainer with every CrossFit session. When I first came to the gym it was only a few months after having a surgery for a herniated disk caused several years back and a mobility issue with my wrist. They provided me with modified movements to accommodate my conditions that allowed me to safely participate in the workouts. They have helped me gradually scale up as my condition improved and as I got stronger. I felt that the trainers genuinely cared about my situation too. Another neat thing about this gym, is that they are really involved in the community. They are collecting toys for Toys for Tots, they are holding a food drive for the Seabrook food pantry, they will be participating in the Trash Bash this year, and they have a team of members participating in the Lucky Trails Marathon relay. I look forward to many many more workouts at this awesome gym with these amazing people! If like me, you have any apprehensions about giving CrossFit a try, I encourage you to take advantage of one of their free classes. Every Saturday the gym hosts a free one-hour workout at 9:00 am. It is open to anyone and everyone (just show up a little early to fill out a waiver). They also offer a free trial that you can sign up for on their website. If you are new to CrossFit or just don’t feel like you were ever properly trained, they have a one-on-one CrossFit for Beginners course as well.
