Top Rated Gym

Fantastic experience: Probably the best gym I've ever been to. They have everything you could conceivably put in a gym - from a massive rock wall to a martial arts room to what looks like an ice rink (never been on it). I mostly lift weights. There are many, many machines and free weights available. My only gripe is that things get a little crowded during peak hours. Probably unavoidable. Still a really great gym.

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym and corec complex I have ever seen. It is well equipped for all. Fun for families and even children. Best facilities for professionals including bikes, treadmills, climbing walls, and everything you want. Plenty of space for indoor team practice. You will love it.

Friedrich Prinz 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Best gym I have ever attended. I can't think of anything that needs improvement. Even during the busy hours you can use all kind of devices. Just perfect

Alka Harriger 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: This fabulously designed gym has just about any equipment for whatever one's exercise preferences might be....racquetball, basketball, weights, indoor tracks, pools, ellipticals/treadmills/bikes... The maintenance is ongoing to give it an always clean look. The only improvement would be better hours (start times) on weekends and breaks for people who like to start their day with a workout....10 am or noon is rather late for that.

Fantastic experience: HUGE GYM!!! it has 3 basketball courts, three gyms, swimming and recreational pool, tennis, squash court, badminton court many other things that would take an infinite amount of time to get an experience out of

Fantastic experience: Best gym I ever visit ever in 35 years in the Fitness Industry. So lucky my son as student can use it.

Khalil Breidi 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: The best fitness center you will ever encounter in your life

M J 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to sweat out. I occasionally enjoy swimming too. People are so nice and helpful.

Andy Lee 1 year ago

Positive experience: good gym, pretty crowded most days. the climbing wall is good for its size, really great setting from the setters, but the sets change very infrequently

H. Yee 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My kids told me rate this as a 5 star, wouldn't find it anywhere else? I did visit to watch co-rec volleyball. There was some seating but really not enough for spectators understandably. Else, what we saw of the facility was fine. Just not much more since you need to buy a pass.

Muhammad Salah Shatla 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend to go there and explore your passion about new sports. The only setback is that the place may be crowded sometimes especially after 6 pm.

Savannah Scheele 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: So many machines and so many options. I love the groupx classes!

Michael St. Denis 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The center is really nice, modern and has everything you can imagine.

Jeffery Nielsen 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym with everything you would ever want.

David Mitchell 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Cool place for my first gym. I have no experience from previous places, but considering it allows weightlifting, running, and swimming along with rooms for dancing and wrestling and stretching, it seems like a good place to start.

Yansi Keim 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I'm a student at Purdue, so as long as I'm paying semester fee I am able to come to here during business hours and do any kind of exercise or activity. People really care about the machines they're working on so they make sure to clean them once they are done with it which demonstrate heightened sense of cleanliness. Lots of machines are available and room for dancing, table tennis, badminton, basketball, racquetball etc.

Yiyang Feng 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very good place for sports! You can do many things there. There are two swimming pool, one large competitive pool and a small recreational pool, two tracks for runners, volleyball courts, basketball courts, badminton pitches, ping-pong tables and fitting equipments. After all, we pay several hundred dollars every semester and this place really deserves the cost.

Fantastic experience: Lift, climb, run, play ball. This is the best gym in the country and students get access to it for free. Always clean, always packed, and always a good workout to be had. Wish the climbing was updated more regularly and more creative. They should look into adding more area for the big free weight lifts (Bench, Squat, Deadlift)

Mikayla Paul 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: great gym with lots of facilities.

Kia Bo Dia 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: This place is phenomenal. It has a very unique building design/layout. The staff is mostly students, but they are helpful and nice.

AbiliTV Live 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: From a wheelchair users point of view. This is amazing. The access is on point. The facilities are state of the art! Plenty of room for people. Could use some handicap signage though pointing to the elevator. The elevator does not stick out and unless our tour guide said something I would had been stuck on that side. You have no idea how helpful signs or images are. Imagine mo labels pointing to restrooms. Now hide them and make them inaccessible to people unless they take the correct path. Most of the time I feel like a rat in a maze trying to find my way. 98 million and no handicap access signage... lol it is kind of silly. Since this was the only issue I had in this beautiful building it keeps all five well deserved stars. I know ramps take more space but consider ramps replacing steps. Lower fall and trip rates means lower insurance rates. You have no idea how much I would love to work with the folks who design public spaces and building access. That would be exciting to make ergonomic spaces. Spaces that work with people and that keep them safer.

Fantastic experience: Great rec center. Has almost everything you'd want (most likely). However, tends to fill up and get over populated due to the continuously increasing student population. If you are a student, I would say to definitely check it out. For others, they offer daily passes, monthly passes and semester passes.

Fantastic experience: We love the recreational pool since it is one of the best for us. The water temperature is very comfortable for small kids and the spa is excellent for adults.

Louis Villa (louvillian) 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent selection of equipment and massive facility. The staff is usually good about keeping things clean and helping people who have questions. There are a large variety of classes offered here in the evening for people who want more guided exercise or help.

Sugato Chakravarty 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place for pretty much anything related to working out. Love their pools and exercise rooms. Never too crowded. Friendly student staff. My 6 year old loves to go there for swimming. Family friendly!

Wyatt Sommer 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great facility with a ton of recreational options from rock climbing to racquetball. They have a wide selection of workout equipment and most days you can grab the machine you want, but It can get pretty busy at times. I love their bouldering wall, pool, combat rooms, and plethora of extra rooms available for workouts. The staff are freindly and helpful. They have a smoothie place which is so very tempting. You really can't go wrong with going here.

Alex Reichanadter 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: The Corec is essentially my second home. This is a great athletic center. I use this primarily for weight training but there are numerous basketball, racquetball, and volleyball courts. During the school year, the gym can become quite crowded so try and avoid peak hours ~5-8 during week nights when class is in session. Summer hours are a bit abbreviated and can be inconvenient. There are also a number of Group X fitness classes hosted here. Yoga, Zumba, swim, cycling, pilates, and more. The quality of the class is very dependent on the student instructor leading the class. And until you have the class with the instructor you won't know what style that instructor prefers for their class. Which can be annoying. But overall the Corec is a very inviting place to workout.

Steve Lovaski 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent facility offering hundreds of types of ways to workout. Whether you're a runner, swimmer, lifter, boxer, racket player, etc there is something for you. There is a small fee to enter if you are visiting and a fee if you're not a Purdue student but want a membership. Great place to work out for the money.

Capri Flournoy 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: The reason I really came to Purdue! One of the best recreational facilities I've seen. 12 basketball courts, full workout out area, multi level building. Everything you need is here. No matter who you are you can find something to do at the rec! If your a student you should definitely utilize this while you can

Syed Shoiab 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: An amazing world class indoor recreational center. Each and every kind of games and fitness activities available and it's free for all full time purdue students. Others may have to purchase a membership to gain the access..

Saurabh Misra 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: State of the art facilities and workout equipment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Enough equipment so that you don't have to wait terribly long to get your hands on one. GroupX classes are offerwd throughout the year. Always a chance to learn something new and stay healthy while you're at it. Best of luck should you decide to play badminton though! Courts are almost never free!

Tadesse Fikre Teferra 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is a wold class recreation and training athletics center for heavy workouts, biking, Karate, aerobics, running, jogging, swimming and climbing. There are secured lockers and adequate parking spaces. There are designated private workout spots. There multiple basketball courts in the facility and many more game zones. The facility is very huge and is able to accommodate the entire university staffs and students. There are smoothies shops in the building as well.

Greg Eakins 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful gyms in the country. Someone gave a hungry architect a very long leash and what they pooped out was an incredible structure of glass, steel, and angles. A window washer's nightmare. It's equipped with just about everything you need to get huge, get slim, or just get sweaty. Except for a rear delt fly. Not sure how that was overlooked. The biggest drawback to this place is how crowded it gets in the weight section. During the school year, unless you are a super early morning person, you'll be scrapping for dumbbells. They need to strip out some of the unused cardio machines and double up on the freeweight space.

SASHA PitBull2016 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is a beautiful rec center. Purdue Colleges Against Cancer has Relay For Life. Rock climbing, swimming, study and seating areas. Everything you can imagine!

Jaywuan Leachman 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great gym that has a lot of things to offer... Can get a bit crowded at times

Toni Jankovski 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very nice facility with lots of amenities! Space for numerous different activities.

Tim Rudolph 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Even if you're not a Purdue student, this a fantastic place to work out in. The competition for basketball is top-notch. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The only catch is that for a non student or Purdue alumni is that its costs $10 for an all day pass. Completely worth it.

Toni Gordon 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Love this facility. Space, availability, great equipment, and helpful knowledgeable staff make this a great facility!

Tony Wang 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing facility. Whatever largest and nicest gym you have been to before, this is prolly gonna be three times as large and nice. Basketball courts are usually packed during workdays and I’m not too pleased about it (it’s not COREC’s fault though: it has 10 full courts, which is incredible), but overall it’s just amazing.

Pratiksha Tewary 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Probably has all kinds of work out machines along with fitness consultants who can help you out with using them. Staff is extremely polite. The only con is that its a little far for the students living off Campus.

Michael Bailey 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Good amount of machines and free weights to choose from. Allows for a nice choice between cardio and weight training. Offers classes for people who don't have much experience with working out. The CoRec has other opportunities for exercising, like the pool and the rock wall.

Steven Smith 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym that I have ever worked out at. It is massive with all kinds of equipment and the staff seem to have been trained. All kinds of people at all levels workout together.

Ryann 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Best place to work out, hands down. It can get busy, but you should expect that considering it caters to a huge college crowd. But it’s newly redone with all the latest equipment. They have a good variety of work spaces and such a variety of sports to play, it’s impossible to go here and not have a good time.

Wang Lee 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Best place for workout, swim , and variety of indoor sports. They even do a massage

Frank Salek 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic facility. There's so much here and there’s a lot of help if you don’t know how to do something. It's very well kept, everything is very clean and in great condition. This place makes it easy to keep the freshman 15 off especially in the winter

Mia Hass 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym. Not one downside. Has swimming pool, climbing wall, halls to play all kinds of group sports (you can even borrow lockers, racquets etc for free). Besides that it has almost every fitness equipment for normal workout routine on machines as well as with freestyle. The price is unbelievable cheap for what you get

Ari Ciglar 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I go here a few times a week to go rock climbing and bouldering. There are plenty of routes for everyone from beginner to expert, and they are updated often. I recommend their climbing and bouldering walls to anyone who loves to climb and anyone who's never tried it before! Other than the climbing and bouldering walls, this place has something for just about everyone. The co-rec has available and clean equipment and space for just about any workout you could want to do.

Jesse Ponugoti 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: One of the best all around gym facilities I've ever seen. The support staff is wonderful. Tons of equipment you can checkout. It's usually only crowded around 6 PM everyday and evenings on weekends.

Nick C. 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: The gym is big, and the equipment is new and high quality. There is a rock climbing wall and a bouldering wall. Just avoid 5-7pm, those are peak hours and can be a bit miserable.

James Decker 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I come here specifically for the racquetball courts, which are plentiful and well maintained. The changing facilities are always clean and there's usually at least a little bit of privacy (plus the gender inclusive/family changing areas, for anyone super shy). All of the equipment seems to be quite nice, plus it doesn't have that "gym" smell.
