Outer Banks Disc Golf: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Husband played and me and my mother-in-law walked around with him while he played. Great little disc golf course! My husband loved it and we enjoyed walking around with him.
Positive experience: Well designed, but difficult wooded course. It is well maintained.
Fantastic experience: Maps will lead you wrong. Find the high school and follow the gravel road by the football field to get there. It looks like condos are being built at the old entrance.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic course! Nice scenery but pretty consistently muddy
Fantastic experience: We've played plenty of courses across the mid Atlantic. This is hands down one of our favorite. It's well laid out, well maintained, not crazy hard but still plenty challenging. While it's mostly wooded, there are a number of elevated tees/holes, and a lovely sandy hole or two. We've seen serious, casual, and family groups with elementary school aged kids playing. If you're even vaguely interested in playing disc golf, play it! Yes, you basically need to drive to the middle school and take the gravel road off the circle...
Fantastic experience: Tight lines and technical, play shorts before you play longs.
Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed the course.
Positive experience: Lots of trees, but a decent course, mix of long and short, left and right curves.
Fantastic experience: Challenging, lots of trees. Very well maintained!
Fantastic experience: Excellent course and beautiful nature!!
Fantastic experience: Great local course to play. Well marked for the out-of-towners. In the woods mostly so lots of trees to navigate. Bugs!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic wooded course, lots of fun. No water holes
Fantastic experience: Better every visit its starting to get widened out a little and is a fun par 3 course
Fantastic experience: Amazing place
Fantastic experience: Awesome course very technical
Fantastic experience: Best disc golf course on the banks!! 18 holes through the woods, it’s technically challenging and fun.
Fantastic experience: Challenging disc golf course...a good thing since it helps to dial in my game.
Fantastic experience: What a nice course! Really pretty and well-laid out. But holy cow bring bug spray.
Fantastic experience: It's amazing
Fantastic experience: Really fun with a group
Positive experience: Very good course. Easy to follow.
Fantastic experience: Really fun and challenging course.
Fantastic experience: I'm hooked
Positive experience: Fun course the play. Especially if you're in town on vacation. Worth the trip
Positive experience: Really fun course. Pretty new, but can't wait to play it again and again to see it evolve.
Fantastic experience: We love it, great place.
Positive experience: Fun course that is kept up well by volunteers. Fledgling at this point but very glad to have one in town.
Positive experience: Good but challenging wooded course. Hole 16 is the only open hole, rest of the course is pretty technical and narrow. Great way to spend an hour or so if you need a break from the beach
Fantastic experience: Excellent course. Google Maps is totally wrong with its directions. Turn onto Veterans Drive, and then take the traffic circle and exit on the road that puts the left side of the High School on your right. Continue to and straight on through the next traffic circle and drive down the gravel road until it ends at the course.
Fantastic experience: Lots of fun. Great course. Cooler back in woods. Bring bug spray.
Positive experience: Fun course with some challenging holes. Lots of vegetation can make play frustrating and flys and mosquitos were a bother (there is a stream and muck breading these things). The course was well marked, had benches at each hole and is laid out nicely but there was no signage to find the place. Google maps takes you to the football field but it is back further down a dirt road. The course is new so hopefully there will be continued improvements. Clearing out the over growth would be nice.
Fantastic experience: This 18 hole course is located at the end of a gravel road behind the First Flight football field. It is a maritime forest adjacent to Run Hill State Park. At the moment the course is still being constructed, but it is totally playable. The course is a tight and requires a lot of skill not to hit trees, but most holes are fair. (looking at you 15) It is great to do children of all ages, but bug spray is a must if you come during the warm months. Ticks are out there year round. The water hazards are dependant on how recent the last rain was. Even if you don't want to play it is a great walk through a beautiful forest on the sound.
Fantastic experience: Great course, it's marked wrong on google's map. Go to the high/middle school and keep right through the circles till you hit the gravel road, there's a parking lot at the end.
Positive experience: Great course to hit while in OBX. In the woods, so bring some big spray.
Positive experience: Definitely bring bug spray, but a very pleasant course.
