Rochester Athletic Club

Fantastic experience: Very positive vibe to this club. The amenities are many including lots of activities for the kids such as free "bounce house" weekends. The group fitness instructors are excellent, I go 4-6 times a week from Yoga to Zumba. The outdoor pool area in the summer is quite nice and is almost like being on vacation. The locker rooms are being renovated which is nice (men's whirlpool, sauna, steam rooms are done) though more work to do there. Price is high, but you get what you pay for.

Fantastic experience: This is the TOP club in Rochester. A+ staff, sparking clean, convenient and best of all are the multiple activities this club offers for young children to school age. Don't kid yourself, this place is the BEST!

Fantastic experience: A large beautifully maintained recreation center with two indoor saltwater pools, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, childcare, exercise studios, Pilates, yoga, hot tubs and more. Most classes are included in membership. Ample parking. Best of all, it has a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Pricey but well worth it! This is one of the nicest fitness facilities I've worked out at. I was visiting from out of town, and the RAC has day passes available for purchase by guests, who aren't affiliated with a club member. I swam both days I went, and the pool setup (25m lap pool + separate family pool) was outstanding. Locker rooms are spacious and full of nice amenities. The club is also very family-friendly but not to the point that kids are intrusive. The RAC is massive and includes an indoor track (9 laps/mile) and multiple courts in addition to standard cardio and weight training areas. If you're looking for an all-inclusive fitness facility, this is it.

Fantastic experience: Such a great gym and place to workout at. They have great equipment, basketball courts, pools, tennis courts, etc. and their locker rooms are clean too! There are always people there also and it offers so much. I highly recommend it and love working out there! :)

Fantastic experience: Beautiful facility, very clean, huge variety of activities, love the sauna and steam room. It would be nice if it were free for members to use the indoor tennis courts. Can't wait to visit the outdoor water park and cabana, and tennis courts.

Fantastic experience: They have a plethora of equipment to target any muscles that you want to. The pool is nice and warm, the hot tub is amazing I almost fell asleep, they have a sauna and steam room there. If you like basketball, tennis, or even racket ball then it's a great place to go. The staff was friendly and very helpful when I needed directions. All and all it's probably the best gym I've ever been to or even seen in my life!

Fantastic experience: This gym has excellent and clean facilities, friendly and accommodating staff, and a variety of options everyone can enjoy. There are several rooms available for weight lifting, running on treadmills and track, basketball, racquetball, swimming, and a fun area for kids. I loved my time as a guest and could easily envision myself going everyday.

Fantastic experience: Probably every athletic space you'll ever need: racquetball, tennis, basketball, pickleball, swimming -indoor & outdoor, weights, treadmills, ellipticals and more. A great deal for active people and families!

Fantastic experience: This facility has everything from sauna, to pool, to basketball courts, and weight racks. The ONLY downside for me was that I do Crossfit style workouts and there is no place to set up a little WODing station and one could not couple weight lifting with any of the cardio machines due to the layout of the facility. Also, there is NO place to Olympic lift. Extremely clean. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Blown away. This is the best active center I have been in. The sheer amount of options for the family make this a special investment. The kid's area, pool, track, exercise equipment, cafe, office rooms, and more! Wow.

Fantastic experience: I'm impressed with the cleanliness and luxury of this gym. I also love the wristband system. Everything from arrival to locking your locker to saving your netflix account on the treadmills is all on your wrist!

Fantastic experience: 8/26/2021 follow up. I am a RAC fan. They have done nothing but improve since I have been here. We have taken advantage of the birthday party options where they take care of everything, martial arts classes, and the child care. All are a little added cost but well worth it. Very clean and the staff are friendly. Follow up: I talked with leadership of the RAC and they were also disappointed in my experience. Very impressed with the care and concern they have shown. They have worked to make things right. The facility is nice. Floor staff friendly. My issue with the RAC is the multiple answers I receive about the rules. When joining we were told we could complete our workout by 930pm and then have time to shower. There is multiple announcements and people patrolling so that you are out by 930. Was told when joining we could sign our babysitter up and she could bring the kids for a year. 5 months in we are told No its May to April and we need to pay again. RAC isn't cheap but there are also lots of extra costs.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place. It really has everything. Pool (indoor and outdoor), fitness gym, studio, personal trainer, amazing locker rooms with saunas, child play areas, daycare, track, deli, and probably other things I'm not aware of. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. The only negative is that the young lifeguards on duty don't seem really attentive or to care about their job much.

Fantastic experience: It was great to be back. They got new machines, and moved some of the old ones. I was getting my bearings. Seems like everything was refurbished and in good condition.

Fantastic experience: This is the best club value I have ever seen for this type of facility. This place has everything you think you want and more. The only way they could improve would be to build a golf course.

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! I have been a member now for 2 months and have no complaints. The gym feels like a private country club. Amazing daycare and state of the art weight equipment. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a quality work out facility to join RAC. Special shout out to Jodi for all the help with the kids club/ daycare. I never before seen a gym attempt to offer couples date nights. This place really offers the whole package for families!

Fantastic experience: Huge facility; this place is seriously massive. It's like the athletic facility at a big university. Free weights, machines, basketball & tennis courts, racquetball, walking loop, track, lap pool, yoga, you name it -they have it. Everything is clean and looks good. That said, I've still had to wait for a squat rack or bench to open up. Lots of high schoolers (probably from Lourdes right next door) after school hours. This place definitely has a bit of the "elite" feel. If you are just looking to lift weights or run on a treadmill there are cheaper options. One month here costs the same as 8 months at Planet Fitness.

Fantastic experience: RAC is a excellent facility for working out and spending time. They have a lot to offer and individual and also families. There have been renovations since the COVID shutdown, including a couple dining options, new conference rooms, day care, and compliance with required safety. The outdoor pool is open for the season. The locker rooms were all redone before 2020, and are far better than the old locker rooms. Overall the Rochester Athletic Club is a fantastic place.

Fantastic experience: By FAR the best gym in Rochester. Clean!!!! Tons of options, Huge facility and awesome trainers and staff. Also every time I visited during the Covid restriction they were cleaning, masking, and waiting to help if needed. Arguably the safest place in town.

Fantastic experience: This place is really amazing. Especially if you like to work out. They also have a kids area which is very very nice. They also have a physical therapist right on site which is active PT and that place is also amazing I'm actually currently using them now and they do a very good job

Fantastic experience: Today is my last day at the RAC, since I'm moving out of state. I've spent the last 5 years at the RAC, and it had everything I needed to work out or relax. I had a personal trainer (Josh) for over a year, and that was a great experience; he is very personable and knowledgeable. I also attended a variety of classes over my time here, and they were all good. My only complaint would be the bad behavior of a subset of members: towels left purposely on the locker room floors by adults, unaccompanied children in the pool and community hot tub (management does remove them, but where are the parents?), rampant cell phone use in the locker rooms (even if gym policy allows technology without photos, it's still rude to other members).

Fantastic experience: Cleanliness is obviously a priority. The Staff is always friendly and immediately helpful when asked. They have any piece of standard workout equipment. Plus some. The equipment is well maintained and updated as necessary. The Lobby, Locker Rooms and Pool Area have recently been completely remodeled. I'm sure other areas were done too that I don't use. The inconvenience associated with this type of work was within reason in my opinion. Some people complained but I don't think they understand the Complexity and Logistics involved with the Major Update/Remodeling that was done. The Contractors they chose were Professional and for the most part did Quality work using High Quality Products. I'm hoping they will build a second facility on the opposite side of town.

Fantastic experience: The facility is enormous. I went with grandkids to the pools. The dressing rooms are neat and clean. After our swims, I took a tour and saw tennis and basketball courts, mini-golf, climbing wall, enclosed kids' mazes, and much more. $12 for a full day guest visit. I could have returned in the evening to relax or work out more!

Fantastic experience: This facility is one of the largest recreational facilities in the United States. There are group fitness classes offered from 5 AM to 7 PM at various times 7 days a week. There are several indoor and outdoor tennis courts, as well as indoor and outdoor pools. There are saunas, steam rooms, and whirlpools in the men's and women's locker rooms for more privacy. There is also a family locker room for those with children. Their children's offering are expansive with a large portion of the building being dedicated to child care and children's activities. Expensive, but if you can afford it, it is worth the money!

Fantastic experience: To say the child care staff at the RAC is OUTSTANDING is an understatement. The team does a phenomenal job with meeting every child's unique needs from 6 weeks up. If you aren't members I would join just to receive these membership benefits... only paying $4 or $8 to leave the club and run errands or do dinner. The child care staff will feed the kids meals (you can order from the cafe right there), put them down for nap, and they play with the kids. I love dropping our son off, all of the workers know his name. Even if he isn't excited to play each day the staff is well equipped to draw him in engaging him in activities. Wonderful facility!!!!!

Fantastic experience: This is such a great place to work out. It's huge! There are tons of activities and services outside of just regular gym offerings. The cafe is awesome, and the gift shop always has something that I want or need.

Fantastic experience: Great place for family activities and to stay fit. Great for kids during winter time as they have big indoor space just for kids and inside pools. During summer the outside pool is great.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love going to the RAC. Ever since the recent remodel I feel like I am in a spa every time I head to the showers. Love the pool and the kids club. Great facility for the entire family. Wonderful variety of classes. Well worth it!!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful facility. A great upscale club for Rochester. Fantastic for families, huge indoor and our pools, indoor play area for kids that is so large it has a full basketball court and trampoline. Then for adults theres state of the art exercise facility and a great resturant.
