Fantastic experience: I trained with Byron for a few years (with a few sporadic Whitney sessions thrown in as well) and it was a life-changer. It wasn't just about working out hard during our sessions, it was about Byron giving me the knowledge and grounding to take with me outside of the gym as well through his thorough explanations of what we were doing and why, as well as nutrition and stretching advice among other things. My physique changed, my confidence rose, and I got stronger than ever. Both Byron and Whitney go the extra mile for their clients and give you that personal touch. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: After hitting a rough patch in my personal life, I was craving change. I called Whitney to get in the best shape of my life. I wasn't overweight, but I was soft. As an actress, I know I will be judged by my body. Whitney understood this and helped me work constructively on improving my physique for the long term, avoiding crash diets prolific in the entertainment industry. I lost 8.7% body fat (23.3% to 15.6%). While I gained shapely muscle in my abs, butt, legs and arms, I still lost the 7 stubborn pounds I couldn't shake on my own. Plus, I gained confidence. Workouts focus on developing balance, coordination and core strength. Not surprisingly, I gained balance and control over other areas in my life now. I'm landing more roles, and frequently my characters are fit, strong women. When I stick to her nutrition plan I feel like superwoman! She was also a great life coach. I feel lucky to have met Whitney and plan to train with her for the rest of my life!
Fantastic experience: I've been working with Byron & Whitney for over a year and a half. They've helped me beyond words inside and outside the gym. I've been following and implementing their nutrition plan since the first day I met them and could not imagine living my life another way. Their nutrition counseling compliments their well rounded and progressive workouts, leaving you wanting more. What you end up getting: undeniable results--I added a before and after pic. These results extend beyond just your appearance; the improvement in your exterior is mirrored by your mood, attitude, energy and self-esteem. You could go to some big box gym, pay some inflated price to cover their overhead and get someone fresh off their certification to train you. Or you could see Byron & Whitney, where you'll get two professionals at the top of their game who are honestly invested in helping you achieve your goals. I could white a dissertation on how awesome they are, but it wouldn't be able to do them justice--plus, this is Yelp and no one wants to read a dissertation. If you're on the fence/intimidated/unsure, just give them a call and you'll soon realize these are the type of individuals that give the fitness/wellness community a good name. And now they have a kick-ass, brand new studio to train you in. The selfish part of me doesn't want to share them--I can't have you taking up my training session spots--but, they deserve and have earned all the accolades you're reading here.
Fantastic experience: Whitney and Byron are fantastic! I've been working with Whitney for about 4 years now and Byron steps in to kick my arse on occasion too. For years I used running as my main form of exercise, but Whitney changed up my workouts to focus on a more balanced approach and I'm stronger than I've ever been and more confident about trying new athletic challenges like surfing and stand-up paddle boarding! Whitney also has worked with me through a variety of injuries and is very resourceful in adjusting workouts in the meantime and working on new approaches to help avoid future injuries. Both Whitney and Byron are very positive and encouraging through challenging workouts. I highly recommend Whitney and Byron!
Fantastic experience: I have a very hectic travel schedule (often times to overseas locations) which makes a regular workout regime and diet challenging. As such, I began putting on extra pounds on my already large frame. I began working with Whitney to help take the weight off and she was absolutely the right partner. Whitney's combination of encouragement and support, coupled with her ability to find the right nutritional mix helped me get into better shape and feel better about myself. When Whitney teamed up with Byron, I found that I had twice the support and value for the same price. They are a great team and I could be more happy with the results!!
Fantastic experience: Byron and Whitney have been wonderful to learn from and work with during my effort to build strength and flexibility after I ignored the basics for too long. They listen well, they’re very flexible with schedule, they stay focused on results, and they can adjust workouts to help recovery from injury or improve on specific weaknesses. Results speak for themselves: I’ve dropped 10 pounds and 3% body fat in two months, and feel a lot more confidence about staying healthy for the long haul. I highly recommend Fitness and Fuel LA!
Fantastic experience: Byron and Whitney are some of the best people I know. They are extremely professional but very caring as well. I have worked with them for the past few 2 months and have lost 22 pounds and feel great! Byron and Whitney are always accessible anytime if I have questions about foods, workouts or reschedule appointments. I would highly recommend them to anyone whom is serious about losing weight and changing into a healthy lifestyle. They are great people to work with but even better people.
Fantastic experience: I trained for a period time with Byron and found his knowledge + session + exercises he prepared for me to be nothing short of the best. He varied the sessions and kept regimes unique which pushed my body to levels they had never been before. Sessions we're just "do 4/6/8/10/12 of these" Byron took the time to educate me on the why all whilst ensuring my form was spot on to prevent injury. I can't speak highly enough about Byron. If you're looking for a trainer - you can't go by Fitness & Fuel LA (even if it means traveling a little further).
Fantastic experience: Can't be more grateful to both Byron and Whitney for all they do. I found them on google and Yelp when following through with my 2020 New Years resolution. They have been my personal trainers for ever since. I wouldn't have it any other way. Its beneficial to have a 2 personal trainers that could review your workouts and adjust accordingly. It is a warm and motivating environment!! You HAVE A ONE ON ONE TRAINER FOCUSED ON YOU FOR AN HR!! no excuse only results. It's great to finally find trainers that actually care about their clients. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a trainer.
Fantastic experience: I discovered Byron & Whitney after vigorously searching for top-notch personal trainers in Marina del Rey — and I am SO glad I found them! Within just a few hours after emailing, Byron called me to inquire about my fitness goals and tell me how the program works. At the end of our call, he had me fill out a detailed questionnaire to understand my health history, fitness background, past injuries, eating habits, etc. Unlike most personal trainers, Byron took the time upfront to learn about my body and health habits BEFORE signing me on, which put my anxieties at ease. I spent the next 8+ months working out with Byron 3x week—and it was one of the best investments in my health I’ve ever made. He built a custom workout plan that drove REAL RESULTS. I gained 6.9lbs of muscle, 4” to my chest, and 1.5” to my biceps. I lost 5.9lbs of fat, 2” off my waist, and decreased my body fat by 3.3%. I’ve TRULY never felt more confident in my body. Beyond the programs, Byron is an amazing communicator. He was always on top of scheduling and accommodated my share of last-minute work conflicts. During our sessions, he kept my form in check to ensure I was learning exercises correctly (and safely). He always made me feel comfortable when I had questions or when I couldn’t quite get a certain exercise down. Byron & Whitney have built one of the best personal training gyms in Los Angeles. It’s a welcoming environment for all experience levels with top-notch equipment to reach your fitness goals, from free-weights to Pilates to cardio. They also keep the gym space and equipment incredibly clean. Byron & Whitney are the BEST OF THE BEST! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier personal training in Los Angeles. Fantastic experience: I was someone that was always in shape but in the last few years I had gained some weight that I just couldn’t lose on my own. I found Whitney through Yelp and decided to give her a try. She is a great trainer because she is not only hands on and detail oriented but genuine and compassionate. Ultimately I am so happy with my choice to work with her and I know you would be too! My journey: She noticed early on that one of my weaknesses was balance. I have always had back pain which was exacerbated by a medication I was taking. We worked around the back pain and she gave me the homework of corrective exercises to practice. So in addition to working out with her two times a week in the gym I would work out with my home/gym routine. By the end of my time with her I definitely noticed that my balance had improved. I also learned how to recognize what would exacerbate back pain and how to manage it. We also spoke a lot about nutrition. One of my concerns was how I could eat healthy with minimal prep and minimal time allocated to cooking. She taught me about the importance of prioritizing vegetables and protein and how I could find grocery options that worked for my lifestyle. Working with Whitney was also life-changing because I realized how impactful exercise could be on my mood. Exercising 5 to 6 times a week greatly improved my mood, which for me was as big of a reward as the weight loss. I will add that you can’t phone it in. You have to do the work and change your mindset in order to see results. PS, must love dogs! Here are my stats from 8 weeks: Bodyfat Lost: 15.896lb 6.9% Muscle Gained: 5.296lb Lost 3 inches in both waist + lower abdomen/love handles
Fantastic experience: Whitney literally has changed my life! She is the sweetest ,kindest, and funniest person I have ever met. I have been a frequent flier at physical therapy, received hip injections, and had three hip surgeries all at the age of 26. Meeting Whitney she not only helped me correct my posture , but she also corrected me in exercises that I was not doing correct before. Because of Whitney, I stand up straight, I am starting to get my core to work, glutes to work, and I am feeling a million times better than several months ago. She has so much patience, especially as I am not a coordinated person. She has not given up on me. :) Even though I do have some hip problems, she is making my road to recovery much easier. This will be the first time in my life, that I am on the road to being in amazing shape!! Now I am not afraid of working out as I learned how to work out muscles, I never worked before. Working with Whitney, has been the best investment I have made on my health.
Fantastic experience: A little over a year ago, I discovered Whitney and Byron through Yelp. They offered me a free training session and I immediately clicked with them. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Over two years ago, I gained a large amount of weight and could not lose it no matter how hard I tried. I felt terribly insecure and overwhelmed trying to navigate fitness alone. Working with Whitney changed everything and in a healthy fashion. I not only lost weight but built muscle. I got stronger and my endurance has become the best it has ever been. I used to struggle in high-cardio workout classes and now I do them without issue. I was the least athletic person in my family and after working with Whitney, I could out-ski them on our winter vacation. Physically - I have improved considerably. I dropped 40.1 lbs going from 182.4 to 142.3. I went from 36.10% body fat to a much healthier 23.60%. I lost considerable inches in every part of my body. I went from having to order the biggest size in a bridesmaid's dress for my cousin's wedding to slipping into a size 6 nearly a year later. My heartburn has also disappeared. The mental relief has been another welcome side-effect of working with Whitney. I have my confidence back. I can fit into all the old clothing that I had given up on. I can push myself to go further and lift more. It's not just a physical weight loss, but a mental relief. Whitney had always been available for me if I have a question regarding nutrition when I'm meal planning. She is filled with solid information regarding the right workout shoes, workout clothes, vitamins, protein powders, etc. I have developed good eating habits and a doable exercise regime. Whitney was adamant about not crash dieting and as a result, I feel like I won't just gain back the weight I lost. I never once felt hungry while listening to her tips. I have been able to enjoy a cheat meal on the weekends or on vacation without the fear that I will binge. The most important part about working with Fitness and Fuel is that Whitney and Byron are completely invested in your transformation. They want you to succeed and they want it to last. They have taught me a new way of living.
Fantastic experience: I started working out with Fitness and Fuel back in March 2020 and I have nothing but the most amazing things to say. Not only did I get results, YES, results... I lowered my body fat over 3%, lost 2 inches in my waist but gained 3 lbs of muscle. All these accomplishments has not only made me feel good, they have made me a stronger runner and overall person. So besides actually getting results (which is what you want) you have to know that at F&F it's all done in an environment of camaraderie, respect and thoughtfulness. Byron and Whitney go always above and beyond not only caring for your fitness but they also show care and true interest for your well being as they are always mindful of how your body feels and what it's telling you. I would recommend any day Fitness and Fuel, one of my best experiences in fitness and conditioning in all the places I have lived (NY, Chicago, Dallas and LA).
Fantastic experience: MIRACLE WORKERS! I can’t speak highly enough of Byron and Whitney, and their expertise in both nutrition and training, as they helped me get by some nagging injuries, and build my strength back up so that I could return to the sports and physical activities I enjoyed participating in. During my training with Byron I realized that I always felt amazing on the days I started my mornings at Fitness and Fuel. Without thinking about it too much I assumed it was because we were working on aspects of the body... exercises, routines, etc. But it wasn’t until later that I realized it had just as much to do with the good nature and atmosphere of the studio… Byron’s positive attitude and sense of humor, despite his love of the Patriots ;) turned out to be the most important aspect of my recovery. I just felt that I was in good hands and that we were a team in this mission to “get me back on my feet.” Little did I realize that my psyche needed a bit of rehab in addition to the muscles, tendons, and bones, and for that I am very grateful. Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality AMAZING, SAFE, 1x1 PERSONAL TRAINING COMBO PHYSICAL THERAPY COMBO. I have seen many physical therapist and personal trainers and by far Byron and Whitney are the best! Saw crazy results in just 1 month. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I've truly enjoyed training with Byron since starting in September 2018. His expertise in customizing workouts and using different routines that are tailored to address your needs and demands is something I hadn't experienced before, and makes training fun, challenging and leads to results. No two sessions are the same which really helps keeps workouts fresh. Byron and Whitney make and awesome team and provide a fun and great atmosphere for personalized 1-1 training where you can really see your improvement. Training with Byron I lost 13 lbs of fat and added 7lbs of lean muscle. Could not recommend them more!
Fantastic experience: As a mom of three who recently turned 40, I started personal training with Whitney so that I could tone up and feel better. After only a few months under her guidance, I lost 6lbs weight lost on the scale and gained 6lbs of muscle. I'm thrilled with my progress and can't believe I'm in better shape at age 40 than I was a decade ago. Lifting heavy weights (instead of just workouts like yoga or pilates) has been a game changer, and the accountability of working 1-on-1 with Whitney has been a huge factor in my progress. Fantastic experience: I trained for 3 months with Byron and I cannot say enough good things about working with Fitness and Fuel. I loved that Byron eased me into making fitness a part of my lifestyle, instead of trying to force my body into doing what it wasn't ready for (like many other fitness programs do). Byron would always push me to just enough past my limit so that I felt accomplished after each session, not defeated. Byron and Whitney are also really awesome to be around (and so are their dogs!) so it eases the fact that they're kicking your butt in your workout. They even gave me suggestions for what to do on the days I wasn't training with them and helped me with my nutrition. I have so much more confidence when choosing what to eat and how to make fitness a part of my every day life. I only had to stop working out with them because I moved out of state, but I would have worked out with them for as long as I lived in LA!
Fantastic experience: I worked with Whitney to get into wedding shape. As a former athlete, I had taken to corporate life with the food and weight that comes with a desk job. I was at my heaviest and had heartburn due to the weight. Within 3 months, I dropped around 20lb and moved from 37% body fat to a healthy 25% -- my heartburn went away and I could fit my old clothes again! More importantly, I was stronger and had a good foundation for weight lifting. Everything just fit better due to the lean muscle. She truly is a miracle worker (because if she can deal with my lazy ass ;), she must be). She genuinely cares about her clients - she checked in during the week, and made sure I was learning healthy, lifelong habits. Thanks Whitney!!! You are the best!
Fantastic experience: Worked with Byron for about 5 months in 2017. I am 63 years old, an avid bicyclist, and have suffered from scoliosis since 6th grade. Byron was able to tailor my workouts to target my weaker muscles. The workouts were always well planned and fun (even Bosu burpees). Saw an improvement in my core, overall strength, and stability. He even let me choose my own workout music (Machel Montano and SOCA). My only question is his choice of NFL teams, but to each his own ;)
Fantastic experience: Great trainers! It might be easy to find a trainer trainer who knows weightlifting.. another who knows boxing, cardio, Pilates, etc.. another who knows mobility and flexibility... another who knows the medical and physiological side...another who knows the nutrition side... What’s difficult is finding all of that in one spot which is what you get at F&F. Whitney and Byron have a lot of knowledge and experience that is incrorpoated into the training. The combination of being held accountable, great work outs, and even better results has kept me coming back for the past 2 years.

Fantastic experience: Having trained with Byron for a couple of months, it was clear that my body transformed to a state where i could actually see muscle definition (and less blub)! I'm the strongest i've been in my life and feel great for that fact. As much as i was left exhausted after each session, the feeling was fantastic and the results showed! Highly recommend Byron and Whitney for those who want to really change their body.
