Mei Fitness - Southport

Fantastic experience: Been going here for over a year,love it! I've seen unused equipment get changed out and new equipment brought in. People at the front always greet with a smile. Members here,just get to work. Vibe is a big thing for me and it's great here, from the places esthetic to the members. Mix of all ages. Love that it's open 24/7 and the saunas a huge perk. If it matters to anyone, I'd say most members here range from moderate to experienced. Not a lot of comp lifters,but not people wandering looking for something to do either.

Fantastic experience: Mei fitness is a wonderful gym. My boyfriend and I go everyday and we are always greeted by friendly staff! At this gym, people go HARD but it’s so inspirational. No one at this gym has ever made me feel like I shouldn’t be there. They keep the gym very clean, there is a tanning bed in the woman’s restroom that can be used during staffed hours and there is a sauna that is available to everyone! Go get fit!

Fantastic experience: Yes this gym is on the pricey side … but here’s why I think it’s worth it. 1. People here get to work. This is not VASA or Planet Fitness where you have people sitting on their phones at the machines showing off. You can lift and workout however you want. 2. It’s rarely ever busy. Best part. I feel I always have the gym to myself. When I was at Planet Fitness and VASA… there was never room to sit in the sauna, never a machine available, people texting their boo thing and having convos at the machines when others want to work out, free food to promote judgement free zone, and not even an available locker. Yes I would even see people eating snacks on planet fitness machines.I come in here and get my workout done efficiently everyday. 3. Small gym feels like a family. Not always trying to sell you stuff. You feel like you’re part of a club where everyone is determined to get better and motivates you. Everyone here knows how to workout and you can see results. 4. Legitimately open 24/7 anytime any day with your card

Positive experience: I edited this review, because there were some changes made recently. Gave it another star. Been a member for three years, and I love this gym. You rarely have to wait for a machine. I do have a few small gripes. For instance... Used to have a tanning bed… it broke and it’s been 18 months. No replacement. Talked to owner. Stonewalled. They replaced for the women, not the men. Guess we guys don’t need our Vitamin D replenished during the long winter. Members often compliment the fact that equipment gets circulated out… but that’s actually an issue if the removed machine is replaced with something of lesser quality. Perfect example is the leg press machine on the middle row of machines … the replacement is inferior. Positives… this place is always super clean. Lots of niche machines that you can’t find at nearby VASA fitness. Sauna is super hot… most clubs don’t heat their sauna enough to be effective. Thanks to the staff and team.

Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality Briel was so helpful in explaining the entire process and showing me all around the gym. I love the gym and the atmosphere. Looking forward to working out here! I would definitely recommend Mei Fitness. Best place and people in Southport.

Fantastic experience: Being new to the area it was a little challenging trying to find a gym that really fit my needs. Even though I live downtown the pricing and amenities offered by MEI are really just too good to pass up. I have been a member since I moved to Indy and I have to say it really has one of the best gym environments I have experienced over the last 8 years. The weights have a great range from starting weights to extremely heavy (about 120, maybe 150), cardio equipment is pretty standard for a gym, nothing spectacular but good enough with some treadmills and stair steppers as well as some other machines. All of the weight machines are relatively new and great for new or advanced weight lifters. Overall this is a great gym to be a member of, and even worth the 15 - 20 minute drive from the circle downtown if that is where you live.

Fantastic experience: I have been to quite a few gyms and none of them can hold a candle to the Mei Fitness gyms. The dedication and true compassion Mel has for his gym family is immeasurable. The equipment is top notch and always being updated, repaired or replaced with the next best thing. Not only is the equipment the best, the facility is the cleanest (professional cleaning crew in often as well) — which gives everyone peace of mind during these times. The environment is absolutely amazing as well. Everyone is friendly, happy to help and just there to push themselves right alongside you. If you have questions, need a spotter or help with a machine, a gym fam member is right there. Mel, the owner is also often seen sweating it out with us — which I can’t honestly ever say I’ve seen at previous gyms I frequented. Personal trainers? Yep they’ve got them too! I truly cannot say enough great things about this gym that I now call home. P.S. it’s also the Breaking Benjamin music for me, LOL.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in terms of having plenty of equipment and overall experience. No commitment on your agreement is the best when most other gyms lock you in for a year or two or charge outrageous prices for a no commitment agreement

Fantastic experience: I work at the salon next store, my car had a flat tire and a man at the front desk came to help me change out the tire. I am so incredibly grateful and am so impressed by the customer service and friendly staff. I just moved here from Texas so it is very nice to see/receive such kindness. I feel terrible for not remembering your name but thank you so very much for your help today!

Fantastic experience: Mel is always adding new equipment and adding on to existing pieces. He fixes broken equipment in record time and the facility is always extremely clean, something I never experienced at big box gyms. There's plenty of room and weights to workout however you want. The sauna is great quality one of the hottest I've ever been in. Best gym in Indy

Fantastic experience: Worst possible place you can go if you’re a fat cell. Been to Keystone, Fishers, and Southport locations. Hands down one of the best training facilities you’ll ever go and the absolute cleanest. Not a spot of rust in the place and the equipment is always top notch. Kudos to Mel and the staff as I’ve never had an issue with any of them. Super friendly place to get your gains. 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Owner is great guy. Always walks his own gym and checks out the place himself. Keeps equipment rotating and new. If its broken. He gets it fixed. Simplicity with clean and great workout facilities with all and more. Highly recommend this place as long as your a clean person also and you put your own weights back up!

Fantastic experience: Mei Fitness is like no other gym in Indiana. It has an almost complete line of Prime Fitness Equipment, which is rare, and extremely nice. The only downside is chalk is not allowed on location. The gym is always clean and the gym staff are delightful. The sauna and the tanning bed alone makes the membership worth it. Hands-down the most well equipped gym in Indiana. If they don’t have it at your Mei location they most likely have it at another.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. The owner really takes care of it and puts money back into the gym with lots of upgrades and keeps it very clean. Tons of options for free weights and cardio. Love MEI!!!

Fantastic experience: I love working out at Mei...the workers and the people working out there are always friendly and encouraging to one another. It's literally half the cost of the gym I used to attend, but the equipment is twice the quality and even closer to my house. It's a great gym for beginners and even experienced athletes, and I'm super excited for their 4th location

Fantastic experience: Modern gym for any discipline; body building, power lifting, or functional training(my preference). Nice, new, and clean facility. There is a really nice sauna as well. The staff was super friendly, in fact the other gym-goers were friendly too. I like this gym a lot. Thank you for letting me stop in as I’m passing through!

Fantastic experience: If you haven't gone to this gym... then go! The atmosphere is awesome and the equipment is stuff you can't find anywhere else on the south side. Very clean also!

Fantastic experience: Great gym! The Owner and staff are all super helpful/friendly! They have the best new and up to date equipment anyone can ask for. There is a little something there for everyone regardless of what your fitness goals are. They are also very kid friendly and have a daycare are for the kids to play while you workout. That being said there are no excuses for those parents out there!! Lol The only thing else I can say is that I will be spending many years at this awesome gym!!

Fantastic experience: Southport Mei is simply amazing. It has an old and new school feel to it. The gym caters to the beginner all the way up to the professional. It has things for the crossfitter, body builder, power lifter, and those who just love to workout. The inspirational quotes on the wall remind you why you are dedicated yourself to the gym. This place is CLEAN, they strategically place cleaning bottles and rags everywhere. The staff are a very customer service focus and wanting to do whatever they can for you. The owner is a veteran of our great nation and is the most humblest man I think I've ever met. He will go out of his way to make sure things are perfect for his members. I would recommend this place BEFORE any other club or gym! Keep it up, Mei!!!!! Semper Fi!

Fantastic experience: MEI FITNESS Southport is literally the best fitness facility in the state of INDIANA! Whatever you need they have. The staff is very personable as well.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! All brand new equipment, has everything you could want...The owner is in all the time to make sure everything is running smoothly, constantly checking equipment, removing stuff that isn't being utilized and bringing in newer, better equipment. Can get a little crowded just like any other gym between the 4-7 hours, but being 24 hrs, you can come and go whenever you want. So happy to have a gym like this so close.

Fantastic experience: GO TO THIS GYM! First off, the owner is an amazing guy. Very friendly and nice. He truly cares how you feel about the gym and wants your opinion. Facility is ALWAYS clean. There is equipment there that you will not find anywhere else and it’s the best equipment. They have the hottest sauna around. It’s incredible that you get all what this place has at a 24 hour access. The lighting there is supreme for selfies. A must go to gym!

Fantastic experience: I love MEI because it is so clean and the equipment is awesome. Perfect for beginner to pros. Love seeing a powerlifter deadlifting next to a group doing CrossFit and bodybuilders too. Everyone is always so nice. Staff and members. Have made some life long friends at MEI. The writing on the wall inspires me during my lifts. Just has a great feeling when you walk in. Owner is great at listening to members and always getting new equipment in. Love it. And the membership is priced accordingly. Very reasonable. Oh and my favorite part isn’t it’s open 24 hours for us crazies that go crazy early.

Fantastic experience: This is no doubt the best gym around Indy! Great for anybody at any fitness level, from beginner to advanced. Perfect for all types of fitness as well, with a huge variety of strength equipment, free weights, cardio, and classes! Check it out!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! The owner is so attentive to our needs and you can tell he truly cares about the gym and all of its members. There have been multiple times that he has personally asked what he can do to improve the facility, and that means a lot. The equipment is top of the line and there’s many pieces you won’t find anywhere else. The staff are always friendly, and the facility is kept very clean. Definitely check this place out!
