Ronin Training Center: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Ronin since it opened. I am a below the knee amputee. The coaches here have been very encouraging and accommodating - working to get past my disability and turn my disadvantage into an advantage. I have trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muy Thai. I am a proud member of Team Ronin.
Fantastic experience: I have trained at many different gym and ronin by far has the best coaches, facilities and team mates. The coaches range from Ufc fighters to World Champion martial artist. You won't find better instruction anywhere else. They have something for everyone whether you want to do private training sessions to group classes. The gym is always clean and everyone is always nice and willing to help you improve. Cory Minton, Aaron Boggs, Vitor Oliveira and Luke Zachrich are the coaches that go above and beyond. Stop in and give Ronin a chance. You won't be disappointed. You will get the best workout of your life while building confidence at the same time. Training at Ronin will build a life long brotherhood with your training partners. Todd S
Fantastic experience: Great people, great workout, amazing instructor, flexible classes and fabulous music.
Fantastic experience: Did a drop in class this morning for Muay Thai while in Columbus, solid instruction
Fantastic experience: Very positive experiences so far for my kids. I have my 7 and 5yr old daughters enrolled in the free week trial and they are really enjoying Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. The training is great and I hope to be able to enroll myself at some point. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming so far and the main instructors for both have made sure to spend adequate 1-on-1 time with my girls to help them get started. The Jiu Jitsu 5-7yr old class had about 18 students, so there are moments when things get a little chaotic, but it was well managed overall. There was 1 main instructor (I think her name is Sarah) and two assistants. I personally wasn't there for their first Muay Thai session, but my wife said that Coach Boggs is a natural instructor and did great with the kids. Pricing seems fair and I will for sure be bringing them back at some point when we have the finances.
Fantastic experience: Awesome training, friendly environment
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality , Value
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! Ronin has wonderful beginner programs as well as very experienced competition teams for all martial arts. The children BJJ and Muay Thai programs are also excellent.
Fantastic experience: My son is 4yrs old just started jujitsu and honestly can not say enough good things about the instructors
Fantastic experience: Great BJJ gym! I have not taken any other programs they offer, but the jiu-jitsu is a very good experience, all the beginner classes in the day or evening have great instructors. You don’t need anything your first time few times, just show up a little early and ask to start your free week trial. Just remember, no shoes on the mat, shoes on off the mat.
Fantastic experience: No other place I rather train. With more and more contact sports gyms opening in the area its important to have a clear idea on what kind of training you are looking for. The environment is competition focus with room for the enthusiasts but beware of other gyms where the teachers/trainers are overweight and not competitive individuals. No matter the discipline you will find encouraging, challenging and yet very fun classes.
Fantastic experience: Always remember the first rule of fight club. I will say I was planning my travels & its very disappointing that there didn't seem to be any comparable gyms across the nation for me to stop in on the way or switch to at destinations. It's kept me in Columbus tbh.
Fantastic experience: The instructors are top notch and the community strives to make everyone better. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Positive experience: PROS: High quality training! (All of the coaches are very experienced in their respective craft and are great at taking their time with beginners) Welcoming staff and class culture. Big facility, unlike most of the cramped fight gyms nearby. CONS: Mysterious pricing structure. (You take your free week then have a 1 on 1 with the manager to determine the price of your package. What?) Hours that cater to college kids. (A lot of gyms that target working adults will have classes on weekends and early AM open gym hours. Instead, It's a race to make it to my 6pm classes on weekday nights. I would rather do open gyms when it is convenient throughout the week, and do classes on the weekend.)

Fantastic experience: Been a part of the MMA program for a bit now and have fought all my MMA fights from this gym. This is by far the best gym to be at. The coaching is second to none from beginner classes to advanced. This place has everything you need. You have the ability to train with and learn from the top professional athletes Ohio has to offer. I've had nothing but a positive experience at Ronin.
Fantastic experience: I had to edit my review after reading some of the 1-4 star reviews. Please ignore the haters. The only bad thing you could really say about Ronin Training Center is that the parking does get packed in the evenings, but what does that tell you about how great it is? The instructors prioritize on making a safe, constructive environment. I wake up looking forward to going to THIS gym multiple times a day. They give you a 7 day free trial for goodness sake. The price is great for what you get. You’ll feel like a better person every time you walk out of those doors guaranteed!!
Fantastic experience: Great gym with world class fighters/instructors
Fantastic experience: I loved my experience at RTC, I was so satisfied that I signed up after one day of trial. I did Karate and MMA before and this is the best gym I’ve ever been to. I strongly suggest to join RTC!!!
Fantastic experience: All of our instructors from our program train here under world class professors. We encourage all of our students to find a gym that best suits them, however, Ronin truly does have it all.
Fantastic experience: This gym is incredible. I say that because it’s huge, it’s clean, it’s nice and it has tons of varying programs, From judo to BJJ, Mui Thai, boxing, wrestling, you name it they’ve got it here. This is probably the biggest MMA gym in Ohio and in surrounding states. The instructors are world class and by that I mean ranked in the top in the world. With that, they are still humble, courteous, polite and professional. I have five kids that have been going here for several years and I cannot think of any better role models in the entire country better than here at Ronan. Dr. K. J. Carder.
Fantastic experience: What can I say, the best martial arts gym in Columbus
Fantastic experience: Best sopt in Central Ohio!! True fighters train here!! UFC, PFL, BJJ, the list goes on and on! Check it out Vitor is amazing!!!
Fantastic experience: My experience at Ronin Training Center has been overwhelmingly positive. I take BJJ and fitness classes, and have received top-notch instruction in both. ALL coaches and trainers are supportive and encouraging regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. I’ve been here for 3 years, and have seen this gym welcome and support people from all walks of life and help them grow as athletes. Management has always been great to work with and very professional. I found a second home here!!
Fantastic experience: One of the best places to train martial arts!
Fantastic experience: I visited from out of town and wanted to try a fitness class. I'm pushing 50 and I have a few extra lbs to lose so I was nervous about working out in a group, but I ended up having a great workout. Laura was very knowlegable and helpful, and I didn't feel out of place at all. Would recommend the beginner class to anyone looking to get into fitness.
Fantastic experience: The best gym in central Ohio. Period. They have many types of classes available for Adults and Children with world class coaches. Everybody is very friendly and they are committed to help you reach your goals be it fitness, learning a new martial art or become the best fighter you can be. Anybody interested should try it, they have a free week to explore the different classes and facility.
Fantastic experience: Hi I’m 14 just wondering what classes I can take cuz I’m into mma and boxing and taekeondoe haven’t been here yet but looks amazing and wondering about the price
Fantastic experience: Loved my experience at Ronin! The fitness classes are top notch, the facilities are always clean and the staff is wonderful! I would highly recommend this gym for some who is serious about getting in shape!!!
Fantastic experience: Does anyone know if they offer a family plan? I have 4 kids i would like to go and maybe me.
Fantastic experience: I attended Muay thai classes at Ronin for about 9 months. Aaron was one of the best trainers I've worked with. He was genuinely interested in helping all the trainees. A well equipped facility with great trainers!
Fantastic experience: I started going to Ronin a few months ago. I originally joined for their fitness classes (which were awesome) but also recently started to LOVE their Krav Maga classes too. Instructors are top notch - really offer personalized tips and guidance and there to help if you have any questions. I'm a busy mom and want my workouts to count, so glad I found Ronin!
Fantastic experience: Best training center I have ever been too. They have tons of different types of classes for all levels. No matter what your goals are or your current fitness level. On top of that, everyone is very helpful.
Fantastic experience: I've been training at Ronin for a few months now and I'm absolutely addicted to it. I'm studying BJJ and Muay Thai, and I occasionally get a workout in there. I've also started my older son in kids BJJ. I wanted to wait a few months before I reviewed. Below are a few high points of my experience at Ronin in no particular rank order. 1. Family atmosphere. Everyone there is welcoming and warm. I've been utterly shocked at how helpful and friendly everyone is, from the staff and trainers, to my fellow students. It's a tough thing to walk into a legit fight gym for the first time. It's also extremely humbling. My experience at Ronin so far in just a few short months has already positively impacted my mental health and the way I approach life. It's quite unbelievable. 2. World class instruction. BJJ is where I spend the most time. How truly lucky is Columbus, OH to have Vitor Oliveira, a world champion Jiu Jitsu competitor, teaching here? Vitor is a machine on the mats in competition and has dedicated his life to Jiu Jitsu. But he's also a fantastic coach. However, the culture he has instilled is what stands out to me the most. A fish out of water if what it feels like the first class you attend, but every single student of his has been welcoming to me, non-judgemental and extremely helpful. Everyone is truly interested in each others progression. Laurah Hallock, who manages the gym, is the only female black belt in Columbus, and she is also a fantastic instructor. For women considering BJJ, they have a womens only class once per week and the other classes are coed. BJJ is the ultimate equalizer to strength, so women considering self defense should consider it first and foremost before anything else. For Muay Thai, Aaron Bogg's class has the same feel. Aaron has a knack for instruction and he's also serious about his students progress. He made me feel comfortable within 10 seconds of my first class. I'd love to have more time for Muay Thai. The same culture is prevalent in his class. 3. Kids BJJ. I've started my older son in kids BJJ and the instruction and class format for the little ones is perfect. If you want your kids to learn discipline, patience, impulse control and be able to truly defend themselves in this crazy world, look no further than Jiu Jitsu. They sort the class by age group, so the little ones don't get mixed in with the bigger kids. Sarah, Des, Sal and others do a great job keeping it fun with games and drills that develop important skills and knowledge at the same time. They're putting in showers right now which is a bonus. They also have a weight training area, a boxing ring and an MMA ring. Boxing classes, Judo, Yoga, Kids Wrestling and a Ronin Fit class are also taught at Ronin. If you have any doubt about where the best train, visit Ronin and see for yourself.
Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my son here since August 2016. The instructors are very attentive with the kids and 1-1 instruction is applied when needed. The manager, Laurah, has been doing an outstanding job in getting this facility in tip top shape and making improvements as needed. All of the staff at Ronin are service oriented, friendly and outgoing. My son is learning a skill that will last a life time and he enjoys going everyday. I can probably say the same for the other kids in his class; everyone attends consistently. Ronin is highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu from Vitor Olivarez.
Fantastic experience: Ronin is a great place to train at. I’ve been going there since 2012. The coaches are very knowledgeable and the class sizes are always a good amount of people so you’ll have many different people to train with. A great place for serious competitors or people just looking to come in and have fun.
Fantastic experience: I attended this gym for a short few months, and can't leave long term viewpoints, but while I was there I was very pleased with the gym and classes. The instructors in Judo, Ji Jitsu and Muay Thai were all very welcoming and friendly, and very helpful in furthering my beginner skills. They have a good selection of weights (few machines) to lift with, and plenty of conditioning tools. Among the gyms that I looked at across a few cities I have lived in, Ronin offers an extremely good deal considering all the classes you get access to as well as the workout equipment. The lack of contract was also a plus as they don't need to rope you into commitments, they know customers will stick around.
Fantastic experience: New to the area. Not new to MMA. Took my 15 yr old daughter to start training. Great staff, excellent facilities.
Fantastic experience: World class facility with world class instructors!
Fantastic experience: World class
Fantastic experience: I've trained there for years. Incredible place, great people. Fantastic training facility and coaches for experts and beginners alike. Respectful, and competent staff.
Fantastic experience: I've been training mostly BJJ here about 4 months. Very competitive and tournament oriented environment for those interested, but also friendly to beginners. Never met anyone here with an ego.
