Genesis Health Clubs - Lee's Summit West

Fantastic experience: Been working out here since mid-November and I love the facility. Always clean, machines always work and never overcrowded. My trainers Alex Kimble is extremely knowledgeable and do a great job tailoring the workout to his clients needs and abilities. I definitely recommend this gym and Alex to anyone looking for a good place to stay fit or build on their current fitness.

Fantastic experience: GX is the reason that many of us go to Genesis West. The instructors are knowledgeable and creative, making it fun. I leave the class getting a good workout and a feeling of belong to a facility that cares about their members.

I myself work in the fitness industry and they are all top notch and do everything they can to make the gym feel welcoming, inviting, and safe. Whether you are new to the gym, or an experienced athlete, this is the perfect gym to call home! Apart from that, the equipment is always very well maintained and the facility as a whole is very clean. Highly recommend to anyone, you will not be let down!

Fantastic experience: The Kids Club is great! Ashlei and Destiny have been amazing and very welcoming. They are always excited to see my baby boy when we arrive at kids club and take such good care of him. I recommend this specific Genesis Kids Club to any of my friends with kiddos.

Fantastic experience: Angie’s Zumba class on Monday, Michelle‘s group power class on Wednesday, Christa‘s yoga class on Wednesday and Christa‘s Zumba class on Thursday are my favorite classes . They are excellent!

Fantastic experience: Don’t get me wrong, I love Genesis. I attend classes offered there 3-4 times a week. Christa and Angie are amazing Zumba instructors and Michelle does a great job leading Group Power. The reason for my low review is the due to condition of the facility. The weights are literally pealing their coating, the bars are rusting, the ceiling is stained from leaks, the mats are pitted and the floor is buckling. This facility needs a makeover in the worst way! I also attend classes at the east facility and it is awesome. (Jody is a great Zumba instructor). Now it’s time to invest in the west facility as well! Update… After posting this, I was pleased to see that changes are already in the works. Thanks for listening!

Fantastic experience: Visiting a buddy and I’m in from out of town. Asked about a guest pass, and Bryce Golightley was able to help me out right away. Top notch facility, has 99% of machines needed, dozens of cardio options, and so much space. Wish I lived here to make it my home gym! Thanks again Bryce

Fantastic experience: Ainsley , Bryce and diamond everybody else there are amazing . Also my bro Kyle can't forget amazing trainer at Genesis who has definitely helped me become more motivate coming to gym to approve in my workout and dancing. This is best Genesis to go too and they are like family to me so I wouldn't recommend no where else but here.

Fantastic experience: Genesis has group classes for all preferences and I found several classes to suit me. I participate in Zumba classes since I love to exercise to dance. I also do water aerobics and weights classes. There is something for everyone.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough great things about my awesome trainer, Alex K. He promised me that if I worked with him for a few months he could help me lose my belly. Well, after only 6 weeks I put on my swimsuit from this summer and it was too big for me!!! I’m 51 and I look and feel better than I did in my 20s.

Fantastic experience: The Lees Summit West location is by far my favorite Genesis location inside of the Greater Kansas City Area. The gym is very spacious to where other members aren’t breathing down on you. Everyone can get their workout done efficiently. Dom the operations manager brings great energy and an awesome work ethic and seems to always attract new members every time I come in.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff. Great atmosphere as far as other members and the overall vibe. I would appreciate more being done to update and modernize the location. Dom and my guy with the beard who's training to compete professionally are the BEST but everyone is great!

There is a list of reasons why, but I will just share a few from the top! -The comfort and ease we feel from the staff and members! When you are shy and starting out, the kindness of strangers makes all the difference! -Kyle E., Head Trainer/Fitness Mngr, has helped us accelerate our fitness and health journey! We wouldn't be were we are today if it weren't for his guidance and dedication! - The Group Power class and instructors!

Fantastic experience: My review is ONLY in regard to my experience with trainer, Kyle Egger, the Fitness Manager at the Lee's Summit West location. He is a gem. I reluctantly signed up for 4 sessions that were a benefit with Silver Sneakers portion of my insurance. I was frightened that I may add to existing pain frankly. This young man listened to my health concerns, gave me exercises that were new to me, even though Ive done lots of pt in the past. Outstanding employee and individual. Not just for seniors, but including seniors. I highly recommend some sessions if you've not used this benefit.

Fantastic experience: Front desk is always super friendly and uplifting making everyone who enters feel at home. The trainers listen to what your needs are and tailor your workouts according to your goals. Really nice they don’t use a one size fits all approach.

Fantastic experience: I come here pretty frequently. The people at the counter are always pretty friendly. It’s in a convenient spot for me and they have quite a selection for weights/machines. Only thing I wish is that there were a few more evening classes since I prefer later workouts but I still have a good experience overall

Fantastic experience: Needed to find a gym to get back into working out after the pandemic and checked out Genesis near my home and joined the first day I toured. Checked out the personal training program as I need that type of accountability. Signed up for personal training after my free session and have not looked back! Best decision I made. Staff is great and five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to my trainer Kyle who sets the bar higher each time I accomplish something. Love those box jumps!!

Fantastic experience: This location has a very open plan, with enough distance between weight machines to allow performing super-set exercise blocks without removing to the functional training area. The staff is friendly and helpful, the place itself is clean. The treadmills, ellipticals, and rowing machines are always in good repair. This is the place I choose for personal training even though there is a closer gym. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: This gym is one of the best investments that I've made. My kids love it (5 & 3), my husband and I enjoy walking and being able to visit without interruptions. The facilities are nice and equipment is well maintained. It's clean and easy to use. Not intimidating at all for someone new to gym exercise.

Fantastic experience: Great place to workout. Love coming right after work. It’s never too busy I can get in and get my workout done no problem. I even have the option to have a certified Trainer if the need is there.

Positive experience: Great staff and I love Genesis! I wish this particular location was remodeled and that is the only reason it did not get 5 stars. Other than that all the staff are extremely polite and really helpful. I have been doing personal training sessions with Dakota M and I really like working with him(even on leg day LOL) and I will continue to do so. This gym feels safe and comfortable. I also utilize kids club and is the main reason I joined. My kids all love it and the staff working in there is very good with my kiddos. I would highly recommend joining this gym!

Positive experience: This is one of my top 5 genesis location. The only reason I give 4 stars is because there is not enough stairclimbers and I have yo wait for use one of the ONLY 4 and many time one is "out of order". That's all. Love you guys.

With COVID-19 they do a great job at making you feel safe to workout again. Very clean location staff works hard to ensure surfaces and equipment are sanitized throughout the day.

Fantastic experience: There are many aspects to look at when reviewing this gym. I was fortunate to have been grandfathered in from my old 24 hour fitness days, so there have been no fees or changes in my rate since the switch to Genesis. I know the start up fee is sometimes waived or reduced with promotions but the thing to me that's a hard sell about Genesis is I hear it's a 3 year commitment. Regardless, there are many joining. With most if not all gyms, there are start up fees. With Planet Fitness, for example, they charge you a startup fee every year regardless of whether or not you cancel, which I've never understood. As far as this particular Genesis location is concerned, it inherited the old Gold's Gym hours, so it is not open 24 hours a day like the Genesis on 39th Street in Independence. It's much more spaced out than what I was used to, which is a good thing. It's a very large gym with a lot of equipment. The contract/monthly payment aside, I can't see anyone not enjoying their workout here as long as they can get there before 11. I primarily go to the location in Independence because I'm a night owl.
