Grand Junction Weightlifting Club: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Positive: Quality
Fantastic experience: Just moved to the Grand Valley and was looking for a gym; large corporate gyms have always been my go to until I realized I wanted an awesome community with endless support and open space to reach my fitness goals. ~Cue Grand Junction Weightlifting Club~ this place (specifically Kevin the owner and best coach around) provides that and so much more. Truly feel that “coming home” feeling without the family drama
Fantastic experience: This is going to be somewhat of a sales pitch, I will explain at the end. A gym lover's gym. Why? Because this gym has exactly what is needed, nothing more and nothing less. When you arrive you will find squat racks, dead lift planks, bench presses stations, and of course barbells. It is time tested that barbell movement under a good range of motion is the best way to gain strength. Google "benefits of compound lifting" and strength is just 1 of them. If you are new to these lifts, start with light weight and be a technique stickler then start slowly adding weight. You have a great coach here(never did get his name, just passing through town) who would help you out with your form. Barbell lifts feel good and are rewarding. You don't need to spend a lot of time with your workouts either, there is no reason to not see good results with 3 lifting sessions at 30 minutes per week. Even 1 day per week you will notice significant improvements. I sold this a bit because I was the only person in there. When I was driving back to my hotel I had some thoughts why nobody else was in there. My first thought was every Saturday between the hours of 12 - 2, man eating walruses roam Grand Junction and I was very lucky to stay alive. My other thoughts were: 1) People are intimidated by these types of lifts and/or lifters -- these lifts are safe, natural human movements, and promote a healthy lifestyle. Most(yes the A-hole exists in all walks of life, LOL) advanced lifters are focused on their workout and do not judge whether you are lifting just the barbell or lifting significant weight. They will even help out when asked. 2) People assume these types of lifts will turn you into the Incredible Hulk and you don't want to look like that. -- people that look like that are on steroids, lifting like this and staying natural makes you look athletic, go check out some YouTube channels "megsquats, "Shaepunzel", "Omarlsuf" Well needless to say I recommend this place and I will be back when I pass through GJ again. Give it a shot and support local business. BONUS: There is a tasty taco truck parked by the gym on most days. Great way to give them muscles some glycogen after a good lifting session.
Fantastic experience: Kevin is a GREAT COACH!!! He breaks down the techniques expertly, in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Professionalism Kevin and Kyle are awesome trainers!!!
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym, even better coach! Coach Kevin knows his stuff, and takes the time to work with you to develop your potential. This is the BEST weightlifting club and athletic development center in town.
