Fantastic experience: Amazing gym. A 'work your ass off' atmosphere. Great staff that works with you. The GM Matt is a solid dude. Been going here for years because there's no extra bullshit you need to pay for that you don't use.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, it's all the same faces every night. People are welcoming and friendly, also no judgement it seems that different types of body types come work out here cause they don't feel uncomfortable, which is a fantastic quality to have in a gym. If you are looking for a new start and want to feel like coming to the gym is a new beginning for you, this is the place. My only complaint is the weekend hours, where is some leeway for the weekend work out hustlers? at least keep it open until 9-10pm. Other than that I love this gym!

Fantastic experience: I was in town visiting family and was glad to see they accepted Gympass. This was the most hardcore gym I’ve been to but also one of the friendliest. Whatever the management is doing to promote a culture of gym rat and novice are all welcome is working. They also let my son come to childcare with his Gympass account and they were so nice and welcoming of him. Can’t wait till I’m back in town so I can lift here again.

Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I found this place--it's perfect for anyone looking to lift weights. The people are always friendly and supportive (both employees and members) and it's got a really diverse clientele. I've gone at 4am, 6pm, weekends, Friday nights--the vibe is always good no matter the time. I haven't seen any equipment monopolizers or creeps--just a bunch of other people there to workout, who know how to share the space, and who know how to unrack. Equipment is older but well maintained and the place is clean. Easily the best gym I've found in the valley.

Fantastic experience: Theses something about fitness 1 that feels family owned and original. Running into many IFBP pros to knowledgeable trainers like Chris & Antonio. I recommend it if you’re seriously pursuing weight lifting or getting back on track. The trainers are approachable and always happy to answer questions

Fantastic experience: Well maintained, custom equipment, friendly staff, and clean environment! There are always two sides to every coin: a reward or a punishment. Covid-19 was nothing but challenging on many fronts, but, a reward of the pandemic is the closing of "big box" gyms I had previously sought out to maintain my physique at. On the verge of a mental breakdown "sheltering in place" alone, a friend recommended I check out Fitness1 Gym 35th and Union Hills. I met Chad and was given a tour of the facility. While it certainly isn't the largest facility, every square inch, is utilized to the benefit of US (the members). There are so many "cool" pieces of equipment that are older and you won't find in the new gym chains. While the equipment is older, you'd never know it by mechanical wear - each cable, resistance, and plate loaded machine well cared for. Lubricated, pads refaced, etc. The best part of the facility is the family there - if you are a stranger, well you won't be for long. You'll be accepted as part of our family; where judgments aren't passed, heavy lifting is encouraged, and results are complimented. If you read all this, what the hell are you waiting for? Go to Fitness1 Gym. See ya there.

Fantastic experience: I have worked for, and worked out at fitness1 for years.. this particular location owned by Chad is by far the best place I have ever lifted at. He takes pride in his gym and genuinely strives to make sure every member has a great workout every time they walk thru the door. It is very clean,great old school equipment, great music playing and all the trainers there are independent and top of their game.

Fantastic experience: Just signed up! The owner was very helpful at explaining all aspects of the gym. Plenty of different equipment to use for almost any workout. Tanning also available for a very low fee. Great prices for memberships as well.

Fantastic experience: This is by far the best Gym experience I have had in the Valley. Family owned, local business that runs a great spot for anyone interested in almost any aspect of fitness. I will continue to go here as long as I live in Phoenix. They do classes, and have personal trainers you can select that run their own business through the gym. (better experience IMO vs a commercial setting as you pick a well qualified trainer depending on your goal vs getting set with one.)

Fantastic experience: I love this gym!!! Let me tell you why... EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) is so friendly there. The trainers especially (*cough* Maya Papaya and Tony). Even though they aren't getting paid by you, they still help any time that they notice your form is off and correct you. The owner, Chad, always says "good morning" to everyone he sees. The cute little front desk gal, Sophia...I think, is sweet as can be, very smart, and can answer all your questions. They have some of the best equipment I have ever seen and all of them work like new. To top it off, they have a handy vending machine with protein shakes that you can grab on your way out, along with super cute merch. It's not as clean or as fancy as the other gyms, but honestly... I'd still choose it over any other. Not to mention, the owner is a PATRIOT and he respects your right to choose #SupportLocal

Fantastic experience: I have worked out here since it was Doc's Gym in 1995. There is no other place that treats you like family, no other place where you are known by first name, and no other place that is SERIOUS about lifting. They have all the powerlifting, strongman stuff. Tires too. This place has been loyal to me. And I am loyal back. REAL people there. Not fake people.

Fantastic experience: We LOVE our gym!!!! Chad the owner, is an awesome down to earth guy. Absolutely hilarious and fun. The trainers are amazing. You feel like your a part of a big family. I have had memberships to some of the bigger gyms and this is by far the best atmosphere I've been in yet for a gym! Not to mention all the well known body builders that come to our gym. Great place that helps keep you motivated!

Fantastic experience: The owner Chad is very helpful and attentive to the gym/members needs. They have a mono rack, specialty bars and chalk stands; Very powerlifting friendly! AC runs cool and if you pick your times right it’s not too busy. Overall a great place to train.

Fantastic experience: Wish I found this gym sooner!! After wasting time at a couple commercial gyms while in Glendale, i found Fitness 1 Gym. Old school feel, with new school toys. I was a happy camper. If and when you're in the area, this no hassle gym, with plenty of experience if you need help, is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: If I were to personify this gym, it wouldn't be unlike Dwayne Johnson. Results-oriented but welcoming. Beefy but friendly. Serious but fun. The equipment may be a bit more Rocky than the Rock, but trainers like Cara are equal part sophistication and motivation.

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend and I were visiting family in Glendale, AZ for the holidays came across Fitness 1 on google. The owner gave us a tour around the gym which made me feel comfortable knowing where everything was before I began my workout. It was very clean and organized. They have a lot of options from cardio, to weight lifting, and offer workout classes throughout the day. We would definitely get a membership if we lived nearby. We hope to see you again soon on our next trip!

Fantastic experience: Very military friendly gym. Offers free passes to those on leave in the area. Had plenty of equipment to get a good weight lifting and cardio workout in.

Fantastic experience: I've worked out at this place for the last 7 years and can say this is the best gym in PHX/AZ by far. A little small but it has good Cardio including a HEAVY BAG to pound on (Rare for gyms) and all the free weights and machine weights you could ever need. This place is lunk friendly which to me is a plus as it means SERIOUS people that like to workout and improve themselves can without penalty. I lament in the fact that I had to move to south phoenix where there is no gym like this only crappy LA and Planet Fitness. I hope one day Fitness 1 will have a gym in south valley (hint hint) just like this one cause as of right now my options are not looking too great.

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I have been a member of. All the staff is welcoming and they have great hours. Mondays are usually busy, but I have never had to wait for a machine. Everyone comes to actually work out, and it is inspirational to observe techniques from other members.

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I've ever been a member of. Dumbbells up to 150 lbs and plenty of variety in machine, cable, and free weight stations. Great for power lifters and body builders. Home of some of the legendary IFBB professionals as well.

Fantastic experience: great gym (35th ave and union hills) whether you're geared towards body building or powerlifting this gym had exactly what you need. This gym had 2 competition benchs, a mono lift, deadlift platforms, and many other machines. They will allow you to store your own barbells if you need them to as well

Fantastic experience: Been going here off and on for almost 10 years. This location has seen different management over the years and fitness 1 is definitely the best. The equipment has mostly remained the same. Definately a no bs gym. Great place to work your butt off everyone is super friendly too.
