Elmhurst YMCA

Fantastic experience: My son has been going to the YMCA for summer camp and after school care for the past year and he absolutely loves it. I knew that he'd been taking swim lessons in the afternoons after Kindergarten was over, but I didn't realize how far he'd come until we went up to Lake Geneva and he could swim across the pool all by himself. He's also learned to ice skate, and it turns out those skills have helped him pick up rollerblading when hanging out with his sister at home. He loves the teachers there and they seem to love him. I've never seen anyone with a negative attitude while I'm there picking him up or dropping him off. I feel like the YMCA is really an Elmhurst treasure and would absolutely recommend it to any parent trying to figure out how to handle child care issues around half day kindergarten.

Fantastic experience: I love the YMCA at Elmhurst. I am a member for around 5 years. The classes are awesome. They have different classes for different levels. The instructors are great. They are always encouraging you to give the +100%. I have to say that the pandemic times was easier to handle with them. The staff in general are very kind, and I feel that I am part of the community. Thanks!!

Fantastic experience: Everyone of the Elmhurst YMCA are friendly and helpful. Carol is usually the first smile to greet you :-). The facilities offered are generally clean and kept up. The pool and gym are perfect for me. I appreciate the Y.

Fantastic experience: Used the gym here for the month. Masks required when in the building. Gym was clean and staff were friendly. The ice rink looked nice as well.

Fantastic experience: I love the fitness instructors. Michele is a great Spin instructor, as well as, a great Body Pump instructor. I also love Sarah's Sunday morning Zumba. Love the instructors. Very clean facility, too.

Positive experience: I have been going here for about 2 years as it is very close to my house and super convenient. The staff is pretty friendly and for the most part the locker rooms and gym area are both pretty clean. There was an incident a while back with one of the kids room attendants where she was shaming a year and a half old boy for soiling his diaper...she went to call the mom and when she came to change her son, the attendant was covering her nose with her shirt and complaining to another parent about how bad the kid smells. Wish I could remember her name...

Fantastic experience: The Elmhurst Y is such a wonderful place, it was actually part of why I chose to live in the area! The range of programs offered, at affordable prices, just cannot be beat! The deeply-rooted focus of the Y is the same, to help bring solid programs to ALL, including those who otherwise could not afford them. I believe this key is a treasure in helping create friendships that can even last a lifetime. There is a great range of ages and talents. So all can feel welcome, and not like they cannot compete. The Y does a good job of offering a variety of ages/ranges for their programs. I love my Y!

Fantastic experience: I am probably not the best person to objectively judge this place considering I'm infatuated with it. For someone visiting for the first time probably nothing will stand out. Yet there are so many amenities here - pool is pretty nice, there is a huge gym and ice rink is magical in the winter. Their youth programs are pretty good. Considering they have mentioned amenities (pool, gym, ice rink) they are able to take kids for lots of extra activities.

Fantastic experience: My 7 year old son has been going here for the after school program and summer camp for the last 3 years. I absolutely love this place. I am a single mom and work full time and they have been a life saver for me. I trust them completely with my baby and he has made some awesome friends here. My son loves this place. He complains if I pick him up early. Derek Schlager is amazing. He has a full plate of dealing with all of the kids, their parents and his team, yet he always makes time for my issues and questions. This place would not be the same with out him! Thank you Derek!
