Fantastic experience: Awesome establishment. Lots of space all around and a lot more bouldering problems compared to Planet Rock. The staff is also very nice and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Lots of climbers of all levels, making the place feel welcoming and comfortable to all. Membership perks, which includes yoga makes it totally worth it.

Fantastic experience: DYNO Detroit is by far the most excellent gym I have ever been to. They have stupendous rock climbing, a complete weight room, and magnificent staff. When you go here, you are welcomed with big smiles and low prices. The rock climbing is a lot of fun and challenging to say the least. Climbing is an extraordinary workout without it even feeling like a workout. I love this place with all my heart and I am certain you will be satisfied if venture to this gym! 1 million stars

Fantastic experience: I love Dyno so much. My partner and I climb here around 3-4 times a week, even though it's about a 45 minute drive away from where we live, it is so worth it. The staff is so kind and welcoming and the gym has such a great atmosphere. It is always extremely clean in the gym as well as the locker rooms. I was new to climbing in September and became addicted ever since, I feel so fortunate to have DYNO nearby as I have went to other gyms since joining and I was honestly so disappointed. The student membership is such a great deal and I'm really grateful that they have made climbing so accessible for us. I love to bring new friends and family to introduce them to climbing and after I take them to DYNO they can't stop talking about it. There are so many top rope routes and bouldering options and they change the routes often, especially recently, so that you never get bored. I've heard of some people saying that the grading is too 'soft' but I have noticed that they have been making them a lot more difficult in the past few months. There is always staff monitoring and ensuring that everyone is safe, and if it's not too busy you can ask them to belay you which is awesome. There's an area upstairs for weight lifting and machines for cardio. There are also yoga classes that are offered upstairs and included with the membership. There is a first aid station at the front desk with bandaids and other supplies which I appreciate and almost always end up needing to use when I climb. As a woman, it is also so nice that they provide feminine hygiene products in the restroom, it really speaks to how much they care about their customers! Lastly, there is a large parking lot which is great as you never have to look for parking. We are very lucky to have this gym in Detroit. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience: Dyno is a great place to climb, no matter your skill level. My only qualm is that they don’t open until 9am. I would love to be able to work out here in the mornings if I was a member, especially since they have weights and cardio equipment so it would eliminate needing a separate gym membership. Their hours are probably the one thing holding me back from getting a full membership here.

Fantastic experience: Been climbing for about 5-6 years now and gotta say this is without a doubt the best gym in Michigan and one of the nicest I’ve been to around the country. Staff are all friendly to new and old climbers. Place is super clean. Consistently new boulders routes set each week. Boulders are set really well at the grade. Routes are hit or miss with being a little soft by gym standards but the setting is still phenomenal. Did I mention they actually set new routes consistently?!? They have so much planned for this gym and it’s a wonderful thing that they’ll become a hub for the current community in Detroit while also nurturing the future climbing community. It’s refreshing how much better this gym already is than the ones that have been around metro Detroit for almost thirty years. A fresh and welcome change to the Michigan climbing scene!! Update 2022: routes are definitely more at the grade and the boulder setting is still great. The gym is still super clean and safe! Staff are on top of their game and super kind while still keeping people in check. Excited to keep ripping here

Fantastic experience: Best climbing gym I’ve ever visited! The whole staff (but especially the owner, Dino) is so incredibly welcoming, attentive, and helpful. There is a great variety of wall angles, grades, and setting styles, and it is clear that they are really intentional about serving users of all ability levels and absorbing traffic well. Their facility is also beautiful and incredibly clean. 10/10!!!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to climbing gyms for 20 years now in metro Detroit, NYC, and Boston and DYNO is definitely my favorite. The routes are varied, the vibe is very friendly, and the staff is second to none. I even had an issue with payment and Dino, who I believe is the owner, went above and beyond to help me out in my unique situation. I cannot recommend DYNO highly enough to beginners and veterans alike.

Fantastic experience: If I could give more stars I would. Stef was amazing with my daughter and taught both of us the ropes! Very welcoming for first timers. We loved it, I could barely get my daughter to leave! Thanks again for such a fun time.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about this climbing gym. It’s the gym that caused me to fall in love with climbing. The bouldering area is large and has routes for all levels of climber. Then there’s the top ropes, auto belays, and lead climbing…so good!! I go several times a week and I’ve found strength at 40 I never thought I would have. Give it one try, I promise you’ll love it!!

Fantastic experience: Literally the best rock climbing gym I’ve been to. The atmosphere is amazing, the holds are new, and the staff is absolutely amazing (literally every single person that works here). I spend most of my spare time here and have met so many awesome climbers. Also rock climbing should come with a warning because it is addictive!

Fantastic experience: It was my first time climbing and I'm glad I started here. They provide very good orientation and demonstration of the facility and equipments. Reasonable prices as well 20$ for a day pass and additional 8$ for rental gear. Lot of bouldering and couple of auto belay options for first timers. Would definitely be coming back again!

Fantastic experience: We drove there from a city near to Ann Arbor. To be honest, this place is best than one in Ann Arbor due to lack of optional, price is ridiculous and more. I am so happy we felt so welcome! We will definitely come back!!!!! ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Fantastic experience: I initially called ahead a week prior to my planned visit to DYNODetroit, where I hoped to surprise my friend by taking him rock climbing for his birthday. Having very little knowledge of the sport, I was apprehensive and nervous myself. Staff member Brock was on the other side of my call and offered a lot of information and communicated it simply and with gentleness as I expressed my concern to not properly coordinate ahead of time in terms of wardrobe or gear. He reassured me that they’d have everything available and assist when we arrived. I immediately felt at ease to have had Brock so personally invested in my attempts to celebrate my friend with this activity far from either of our expertise. When we arrived around midday on the following Friday, we were greeted by staff member Kenny, who was so welcoming, gregarious, and bright. As I shared that it was our first time to visit DynoDetroit and that my friend was celebrating his birthday, Kenny offered us a special rate for the occasion. I was so moved by the care that Kenny and the entire facility extended to us. Kenny offered a very thorough tour of all of the features to the establishment and a very detailed orientation on the gear we rented and the safety and practices surrounding climbing. I felt a strong sense of trust in the gym and staff as soon as we stepped inside and that carried on throughout the entire day. Brock came over to greet us as we set up for the day and I was thankful to meet him in person, after he served as such a strong source of comfort over the phone. He was intentional to connect with us, visiting with such a warm approach between our climbs. When I found myself paralyzed in fear at the top of a beginner climb later that day, Brock recognized my nerves from across the way and genuinely cheered me on in repelling down. A part-time staff member, Lucy, happened to be on site that day for her own personal climbing, yet still offered her skills as a certified lead belay for us. She approached us to invite us to rely on her, should we decide to diversify our experience with different routes. She quite literally sacrificed her own time to climb and opened our ability to discover other parts of the wall that required someone to belay for us. She was joyful and patient and encouraging – especially meaningful to me as I hesitated to climb beyond a certain level. Sam, another staff member, collected our gear at the end of our time – about 3.5 hours after we initially arrived. He was intentional to follow-up with our experience for feedback and to share in on the excitement we each held for the time we spent there. Throughout the entire day, members of the gym and staff were smiling, friendly, and purposeful in approaching us to introduce themselves, share tips, or simply celebrate a completion of a route. I felt as though I had been a long-time valued member, rather than a brand-new visitor. The facilities are brilliantly clean, maintained with safety as a priority, and strongly driven in being community-focused. It’s a value that has vibrantly and obviously been adopted by every person who is a part of DYNODetroit. I saw it from recurring members, as well as from other first-time visitors who were there as a part of single-time gatherings. As someone who is deeply fearful of heights and who was only initially motivated to participate for a one time occasions because of a friend’s birthday, I can confidentially say that I plan to return – both for the challenge in climbing, as well as for the community there! Thank you, DYNODetroit, and thank you especially to the staff – Brock, Kenny, Lucy, and Sam - for a SPECTACULAR first time experience! I'll be back! :0)

Fantastic experience: Beautiful facility with more than friendly staff, that're always there to help you with any sort of refreshers/lessons. The vibe is immaculate, and they have monthly meetups to crossover whatever community you're already apart of (LGBT, POC, ladyfolk) with your climbing counterparts! Plenty of fairly rated and fresh top ropes and bouldering. And it's only going to get better once they open the cafe in late fall/early winter!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love coming here. Staff are friendly and go the extra mile for visitors, the selection of autobelays mean you don't have to wait too long between climbs if you're not belay certified (even on busier days), love that you can access a fitness gym, bouldering, and climbing, all in one lovely clean space. Added bonus, I haven't come across an unfriendly visitor either!

Fantastic experience: Dyno is like a second home. The staff are all incredibly welcoming, the community is low ego, and the routes/problems are on a great rotation. Their commitment to trying to open up climbing to different communities shows & they are eager to open their doors to anyone. I wish I saw Pig (resident dog) more often these days, but nothing is perfect come climb!

Fantastic experience: Nothing negative to say about it. Fun experience with fair pricing. All rental equipment was available. A quick run though of things and multiple questions were answered. Small tips and techniques were given by both the locals and The staff. Very friendly positive atmosphere!

Fantastic experience: I'm SO glad to have a high quality climbing gym available in the city! Staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is positive, the amenities are tremendous. Edited below for an update since opening times... - gets loud when it's busy, and I think the space could benefit from acoustic treatment, but I'm exceptionally picky about that. It's not any worse than other gyms. - the grades are very soft, but they're internally consistent, and that makes it easy to plan a session once you get used to the scale. Just be prepared to adjust your expectations if you start here and decide to go climbing outdoors, lol. - setting has gotten more varied and interesting since opening - really enjoying it. Resets are frequent enough to keep it interesting, but your project won't disappear before you're done with it :)

Fantastic experience: I started out at V1-V2 here and now I’m at V5-V6 because they have awesome resources like yoga, specific level training, and great workout equipment. The bouldering routes will always impress you with how unique each one is designed. The top-roping and lead-climbing here is very advanced as well. There’s many beginner level problems for bouldering and top roping too so you can feel good about your ego after failing all day. I’ve recommended everyone to this place. The prices are very affordable for everything, especially the monthly membership being only $79! You won’t be disappointed, the staff are amazing people and the owner is there a lot so he makes sure everything is extremely clean and running at top level If you would like to see a small dog named Pig you should come to Dyno Detroit, he’ll be following the owner around so you’ll know who the owner is!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely AMAZING, the best way I can put it is I found a new home. This place has the most welcoming and enjoyable staff I've ever seen. It's very clean and orderly. The prices are very affordable. And the experience is like no other! I will be coming here often to try and stay active and I would suggest anyone to do the same!

Fantastic experience: I tried out Dyno today for the first time, and I had a blast. I was very scared at the beginning because this is my first time rock climbing. Fantastic experience: My 8 year old son and I had so much fun and a great workout. This place is the most welcoming environment for a newbie!! All of the rules were covered in the orientation and suggestions on where to start were spot on. The price is affordable for a day pass and the facility’s were extremely clean. Fantastic experience: A really high quality gym with great staff. It was such a pleasant surprise to find a gym with great setting in Michigan and I look forward to visiting this location whenever I’m back in town for the holidays. The facility is clean and very well maintained. The staff members were very accommodating to kids and fostered a good environment for their first time climbing experience. A well rounded gym including sports climbing with plenty of auto-belays, bouldering, and training area. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: As a brand new climber, I was blown away by how hospitable and kind the staff are. I finished the “Learn the ropes” class today which is required for all members and felt so prepared and confident to get on the routes. The gym has a safe, communal, and inclusive feel to it which made me feel more confident to start this brand new sport. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time and cannot recommend this spot more ~

Included with the climbing, you also have access to the gym equipment, which was a nice little added bonus. I can’t say enough great things about this place, it’s a must!

Fantastic experience: We are climbers who were visiting from Seattle and found Dyno online. Having grown up here, a climbing gym in this area was long overdue. The staff was super informative, friendly and helpful. They made sure we were comfortable in the facility, safe and well trained. Location and gym were really nice as well. We’re definitely coming back next time we’re in town!

Fantastic experience: Really nice new gym. I have been to a handful of climbing gyms and this is definitely my favorite in the US so far. Both the boulders and the route climbing are set well. Fun and challenging. They seem to be rotated out rather frequently. Staff is really friendly and will help you out with whatever you need. A big plus for me is that they are open for long hours and pretty late most nights and also relatively early in the morning. They have nice gear for sale if you need it as well. The gym is really new at this point but I'm pumped for the member events they are planning to have.

Fantastic experience: This gym is really great. Brendan was super friendly and helpful! The gym is very clean, there is a wide range of route difficulty, and the staff seems to make safety their top priority.

Fantastic experience: As a very novice climber, this place was wonderful! Gear rental was very affordable ($8.48 for everything I needed), and the orientation and basic instruction was extremely helpful and delivered by cheerful team members. The whole place feels like a community- staff and regulars all know each other, and are welcoming and encouraging to newbies. They’re still requiring masks indoors, and the gym felt super safe and clean.

Fantastic experience: I love this indoor climbing gym. Friendly & helpful staff, clean facility, & some treadmill & weights tailored for climbing. They also change the routes regularly (after 3 months or so). Lead climbing, top roping, bouldering, they all have it here. Staff are always on the lookout to coach & give tips on how to top the routes. I signed up for membership after my first visit & had been going here 3-4 times a week for more than a couple of months now.

Fantastic experience: (from a beginner) as someone that began with no experience but wanted to excel fast, Dyno was a great gym to start climbing and bouldering at. I felt unrestricted and uninhibited to eat it repeatedly on the same boulder course in front of tons of people. chill and constructive culture. Unlike a lot of niche sport gyms people here aren't really annoyed at beginners probably bc here they aren't overcrowded due to good layout and good climbing traffic, people are encouraged to do their own thing or help and peer coach. The thing I can probably speak to most is the great hospitality and person-ability of the staff. They treat your membership as your personal individual case, not as an account. The managers/owners seem passionate about this community and seem to be personally accountable about making a great experience for any kind of climber. Dyno is a GEM here.
