Fantastic experience: This gym is great! Love the DL platforms and squat racks without mirrors. The best times to go are between 11 and 3. The daycare is a major highlight. You can bring your kids for 2 hours with your membership, and you can trust that they are well taken care of! Missy and Paige are the best and love your children just as much as you do!

Fantastic experience: I love coming to this gym on Mills Civic because Jill, Kim, Liz and Amy are extremely wonderful instructors.They bring energy and a true passion for their teachings, wanting to educate and inspire others in their classes. They empower everyone with a positive attitude in every class I attend.

Fantastic experience: Genesis club at Mills Civic, West Des Moines,IA is a friendly and a very good facility. Our family loves this club because the front desk staffs are friendly and they always greet and welcome the members. Kids love the basketball court in the kids gym and they like both outdoor and indoor pools. Myself and wife are A big fan of hot tub. I highly recommend others to join this club to have a healthy life style.

Fantastic experience: Dropped in to try out the gym. Fantastic facilities with indoor and outdoor pool. Front desk staff were very warm and helpful. Didn’t feel like a meat market like some gyms do. People of all bodies just getting in a work out and having fun. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great, clean gym! The staff is all nice and friendly. My family and I got personal trainers and they were awesome. Training with Jeff has been fun as he is very attentive and motivating. You can tell he loves what he does.

Fantastic experience: I Love the instructors and group classes I attend. . Jill R. Yoga - best yoga instructor & teacher I’ve had, and she’s also great for barre & aqua surge. Shervin’s fusion & strength and Askia’s HIIT classes are phenomenal too, and they teach to all levels & know what they’re doing & show care & concern. The club needs water bottle filling station toppers (Elkay) on all the water fountains, please! And better floor cleaning in the group fitness rooms nightly - espresso to get rid of all the hairballs & dust bunnies behind the bossu balls along the wall. :)

Fantastic experience: Genesis is a massive gym, easily better than any commercial gym in the area. It gets kinda busy but I’m never held back from getting my sets finished because of the people here. Speaking of that everyone that goes here is extremely respectful, and is always willing to help out with lifts. Trainers are available WITH THE PRICE of your membership. No additional cost, amazing services, especially for newcomers.

Fantastic experience: I started training with Jeff Burris at Genesis Health Clubs. Jeff is an incredible trainer! His encouragement and constant motivation pushes me to the next level. I very much appreciate his knowledge as well as his impeccable attention to correct form. His passion to help me succeed is quite apparent. In the 2 months I've been working with Jeff, I've lost 15 pounds and have so much more energy. Every time I'm done with my session, I'm satisfied knowing Jeff has helped me with an awesome workout! I highly recommend Jeff.

Fantastic experience: I am a new member and haven’t been to a gym in 3 years. This gym Has many amenities including a lap pool and lots of cardio equipment. I signed up for personal training sessions to help acclimate myself back into the gym. Outstanding trainers with a wealth of knowledge. I love this gym. Oh and it’s in a perfect location.

Fantastic experience: I love Genesis Health Clubs! The club itself is very nice (mills civic) but what makes it special are the people, from front desk to courtesy to staff to members, it’s like a big family. Shannon in membership has always gone above and beyond to the people I have referred to the club. I have developed many friendships over the years at the gym, all while getting an excellent workout in!

Fantastic experience: I feel pretty comfortable and enjoy coming here, much more so than other gyms I've tried. Have been training with Jeff Burris, he's great at tailoring workouts to accommodate and strengthen to rebuild after injuries and great at motivation! In 6 weeks I've already lost a percentage of body fat and gained as much in muscle, have better mobility, stamina, and strength ️‍♀️️‍♀️️‍♀️. Most issues I've encountered at the club are fairly minor and they do work to resolve them.

Fantastic experience: Jeff the fitness maestro ran a smooth fitness consultation, exceeding all expectations. He is kind, smart, and gifted at creating a shared vision with you and getting you pumped about your goals, making them feel attainable. I got a sweet deal on a PT package and was set-up with the perfect trainer. I asked for a total transformation. He threw in a nice muscle tank and a generous amount of exclusive sessions with him - letting me know that he’s got me all the way.

Fantastic experience: Really quite affordable for everything that's included. There's an indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, additional hot tub in each locker room as well as a sauna and steam room in each locker room(only the case with this specific location), their equipment is noticeably newer and higher quality than the other locations around DSM, and my favorite part of it all is the staff. The trainers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they're always around if you need something or have a quick question. Same with the rest of the staff too, always polite and helpful. I can wholeheartedly recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: I used to go here when it was prairie life fitness, and when I moved back in the area I wanted to restart my membership. I wasn’t aware of the change to Genesis, but I still think it’s the best gym in Des Moines. King was also super nice and helped me get my new membership figured out. Recommend!

Fantastic experience: My favorite Genesis club out of all of them in Iowa! The place is always clean, staff are friendly, and there is little to no wait for equipment to open! Collin is an excellent trainer, I will definitely be booking more sessions with him in the future.

Fantastic experience: Jeff is a personal trainer and in two short months he has worked me from 31% body fat to 18% from 18vf to 12vf. He is great to work with. And his knowledge of the human body is endless.

Fantastic experience: Love love this place!!! Swimming out or indoors is very awesome!!! The hottub in the pool or the one in the locker room, is the best thing ever!!! This week I'm going back to my trainer and get my strength back.

The staff is accommodating and helpful, there is a variety of classes available (although I am torn on whether or not I feel thankful for how Liz made my muscles feel today after Strength class yesterday haha), the pool is relaxing, and the facilities/machines are always clean and ready to go! Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for many years but until recently, didn’t utilize the trainers. I would design my own workouts but felt I was in a rut. I started working with Jeff Burris a few months ago. After an initial consultation to review my objectives as well as identifying strengths/weakness as it relates to my overall fitness level, Jeff constructed and worked various routines with me. I’ve been pleased with my overall results. After about three months, my body fat decreased from 12.9% to 9.3% and my muscle mass increased from 39.7% to 41.6% . The improvements can be attributed to my workouts as my diet did not change. Thanks for all your help Jeff!

Fantastic experience: Recently remodeled the equipment is mostly new and solid. The lockers are now more substantial and the showers are nice. Trainers are useful and very knowledgeable. I use the facility 4 to 6 times a week, and most often whatever I need to work out on is available.

Fantastic experience: I started personal training with Jeff Burris - he is awesome, pushes me to the edge of where I can go. There are muscles that I didn’t know I had in places I never would have been able to put into use any other way. I am 55, in reasonable health, but have Not had any formal weight training since high school . And everything I read says muscle mass in highly correlated with health as we age . So I started working out on my own, but had chance to have Jeff train me and I’m sold .

Fantastic experience: Great place to get a great workout in. All the machines and free weights you could ask for. Staff is friendly and the gym is kept clean. Members do a fantastic job wiping down weights after they're done. A great great environment where you don't have to worry about being intimidated.

Fantastic experience: The class instructors are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you. They challenge you to the next level and never present the same set of exercises twice - they always change things up! Liz, Shervin, and Kim are who I take classes from!! They each get. 10+ from me!They’ve been accommodating as well as sympathetic to my personal journey through rehabbing with my shoulder. The support has made a huge difference. I’ve often thought I need to give them my co-pay!!

Fantastic experience: I love Genesis Mills Civic so much!! I highly recommend this gym especially for families that have children! From the workout rooms to the awesome pools! Super nice and friendly staff that goes out of their way to help their members. They also keep the gym nice and put together and clean! My favorite part of the Genesis Mills Civic is definitely the childcare and activities they have for my five children! Missy the childcare director is absolutely amazing and that’s putting it lightly she always takes the absolute best care of the kids and plans such fun activities for them!! My kids get SO excited to go to the gym specifically to the “kids gym” they always have such a blast! Missy and her staff always make you feel so comfortable when you leave your children in their care!! I am so happy my entire family gets to go to a gym where there is so many things to do and to have fun! Also we love the pools and swimming the basketball courts such a fun atmosphere!! Highly recommend Genesis Mills Civic especially if you have a family!!

Fantastic experience: The club is very clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. I look forward to my workouts here and to say hello to the patrons that I have met over the years. I especially love the social events with drinks including adult drinks and barbeque and other fixing's. Of course that then mandates a double trip to the gym. They are always maintaining equipment and keeping up with repairs on the building. Try it you will love it.

Positive experience: This is an updated review due to genesis buying them they have gotten much much better. this is an overall great gym to work out at. I've been in and out of here a few times and recently decided to start a new membership after my current gym decided to increase member prices with out notifications. Debbie (i believe that is her name) was willing to work with me on letting me coming back by letting me use some guest passes to get some work outs in until I can sign up at the end of the month. Only complaint.. Please get some 2.5 lb plates!!! That extra 5lbs total makes a pretty significant difference
