BYU-Idaho Hart Fitness Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Perfect place to workout! It has everything you need!
Fantastic experience: Great gym! Free (for current students), and has a lot of equipment. Big enough to where you can work out comfortably with space. There's a variety of equipment for most (if not all) activities. There are engaging events and help if you need it. You do need workout clothes though, I personally have a shirt from the BYUI store, and black workout pants from Walmart, make sure to check the dress-code before heading over :)
Fantastic experience: This is my happy place
Fantastic experience: All the equipment is amazing. Really works and you can get a great workout while there for sure and it's just a great vibe.
Fantastic experience: Great workout facilities
Fantastic experience: All the equipment you could need. They do serve a large area, so they might be a little full around 4-8 pm but if you go at almost any other time it’s pretty empty.
Fantastic experience: Equipment up to date, clean, services are great. A good solid gym
Fantastic experience: Employee named shelby is the best and really deserves a promotion
Positive experience: I’m grateful for a free gym and a university that offers tuition at a very low rate. That being said the dress code at the gym is obviously in place for a reason. I get it and I follow it. My understanding is that it ensures modesty while working out. But when me or my husband are asked to leave because we don’t have the BYUI logo on our blue shorts it just feels a little too nitpicking. We have come in perfectly modest clothes and ones very identical to the required uniform… just no logo on the shorts. I just don’t understand who or what I’m hurting by not wearing the BYUI approved shorts. Oh, but I forgot if I wear black sweat pants it’s fine if it doesn’t have to have the logo. I’m just hoping by this review that those who make the rules and those students who run everything on campus will think more about the spirit of law rather than just the letter of the law. Because right now it doesn’t feel like it’s about being modest it feels more like I’m just trying to be controlled. *For reference these are the shorts compared to the BYUI required ones.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing, high-end equipment. The racquet ball courts were nice too
Fantastic experience: Has everything you need for general conditioning exercise
Fantastic experience: One of the best facilities I have been to. They have multiple of any machine/ equipment that you would need for a workout. Lockers for your personal belongings also work well.
Positive experience: Nice gym. Lots of equipment. Has pretty much everything somebody needs no matter the skill level. Worst part overall is how strict and ridiculous the dress code is, which is hardly even a dress code. It doesn’t matter if what you wear is modest, if it’s not their branded shorts, jacket, or shirts, it’s not allowed. It’s pretty clear that this is true solely on the fact that people can wear these items as high or tight as possible, but since it has “BYU-I” on it, it’s allowed. Oh, the shirts and shorts are, if i remember correctly, $20 a piece.
Fantastic experience: Great place for a workout. Los of machines and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: For a gym, it far exceeds my expectations. I was able to go free as a student and really enjoyed my time there.
Fantastic experience: Terrific pool, very large and extensive weights gym with conditioning and HIIT areas. Main gym says it's opening back up in the Fall.
Fantastic experience: Have to wear a mask, but you can also sign in with your fingerprint now so that's convenient.
Fantastic experience: This is a million dollar facility in which we can use for only the price of some clothes...what more could you want?? Also, they have awesome trainers, shoutout to Alyssa and Maddie! If you want less foot traffic, go at times when there are less people.
Fantastic experience: I'm fat so we have a love hate relationship... It smells weird but I guess the cool kids call that gainz... I feel less bad about myself when I leave here so that's nice... Membership is pricey... Nice gym but $2104 is a little pricey
Fantastic experience: Go here everyday for my workouts. The gym is extremely open and has plenty of equipment and space to exercise any group of muscle. Great for getting swole .
Fantastic experience: Working out here great. Many helpful staff when needed.
Fantastic experience: This gym while in college was a huge stress reliever and this place was special to me.
Fantastic experience: Lot's of equipment to use. With COVID going on, they are limited to 50 people at a time. Because of that there is usually a line, but I haven't had it take longer than 30 minutes. Fridays and Saturdays are usually not too busy.
Fantastic experience: I love this place! Lots of different equipment options, and the dress code is great! All different body types come to work out, and everyone just minds their own business. Couldn’t ask for more from a gym!
Fantastic experience: It's got everything you need and more and while it sometimes gets busy, there's enough equipment that there's rarely much of a wait, especially if you have a flexible workout plan
Fantastic experience: Great facility. The staff are excellent to answer questions and there is always equipment available to use.
Fantastic experience: Hart Fitness center is located in Rexburg. Good gym with awesome professionals
Fantastic experience: Love coming to this gym to workout! Go there for free while you still can. Has a bit too many people sometimes and a strict dressing code but otherwise it's a great place to get or stay in shape.
Fantastic experience: If you are a top heavy jock shaped like kronk, than we have a special little corner for you where you can make loud barbarian sounds till your hearts content. We also have a normal area where you can work out silently and avoid eye contact with people.
Fantastic experience: The Hart gym is incredible. It is free for students and honestly better than most gyms I have paid for. Huge variety of machines, several bench/ squat stations, deadlifting stations and tons of free weights. Cable machines, ginormous cardio selection, and a CrossFit/ Olympic area. Wonderful equipment and friendly staff. Great place to workout.
Fantastic experience: It's a great gym but make sure you are aware of and honor the dress code!
Fantastic experience: Best place to exercise in East Idaho. Awesome indoor track.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. It is a little busy though. Early morning and late nights are not to busy though.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym, clean and we'll equipped. Good environment. Be mindful of the signs for the classes that come and exercise. Helpful staff and plenty of opportunities to learn and get help training to be better. In general everyone is very friendly who exercises here.
Fantastic experience: Great gym to be at, clean and friendly staff. If you're a student, go here. The gym can be busy at nights so if you can plan your workouts before the night to be able to have some good equipment.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. They have a ton of equipment and activities.
Fantastic experience: You have to have a school ID to get into the gym. Tredmils, weights, weight machines, ellipticals, monkey bars, whatever you need or want at a gym.
Fantastic experience: Very clean, well maintained functional equipment. Must use approved exercise uniforms.
Fantastic experience: Great place and a tons of machines and weights for every work out need
Fantastic experience: Great equipment, spacious. But try to go when it's not crazy busy if you want a chance to use the equipment
Fantastic experience: Great gym with lots of equipment. Good variety.
Fantastic experience: Lots of people go here, if you're a student it's free, if not it's $3-4. There is tons of exercise equipment and free weights.
Fantastic experience: This is a great facility! The machines and equipment are newer... And free for students!
Fantastic experience: Great gym to work in for the students. They offer classes and personal trainers who are super friendly and professional. They have lots of machines and weights. The only thing is sometimes it can get really busy and makes it hard to get on the machines you want.
Fantastic experience: Staff is always friendly, has just about everything you could ever want in a gym. Unfortunately yes, you do have to use the approved BYUI gym clothes but not a huge deal. Often packed, but that says a lot about the gym in that people enjoy using it.
Fantastic experience: Very deversified equipment and a lot of facilities. Diverse fitness class options such as yoga, cycling, muscle training, and zumba. Tends to be very busy during the late afternoon.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Plethora of equipment with lots of area to work out.
Fantastic experience: Best equipment around. Only downside is if you go at the wrong time it's way too packed
Fantastic experience: High quality equipment and huge variety make this one of the best fitness centers in the area.
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout. Cannot beat the student price.
Fantastic experience: Its free when you are a student. Has a lot of space and machines. It is needed, it gets busy!
Fantastic experience: The equipment, atmosphere, and people make this gym worth the long, cold walk it takes me to get there!!!
