Evolve Fitness and Training

Positive experience: Ive been coming here for years and the staff is very friendly, although the staffing hours seem to be inconsistent as of late. The gym itself however is outdated and in need of maintenance, the carpet is honestly a hazard especially near the racks and it NEEDS to be replaced. Along with a decent amount of equipment in need of repair. Lastly, the men's bathroom has had some kind of plumbing issue for at least a couple months. Now the only hope with the recent price increase is that these issues will be addressed.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of Evolve since October and in that time, I have always felt so welcomed. There's always a familiar face to greet me when I come in, even during non-staffed hours. Not only are the staff incredibly great and helpful, the people that workout at Evolve seem to be very close-knit. It keeps me motivated to keep going day in and day out. On top of that, the facility is always clean and it's never too busy to where I can't work on what I want to work on. If you're looking for an affordable gym in the DeKalb/Sycamore area, Evolve is the one to choose.

Fantastic experience: Go to NIU and their gyms are just awful compared to here. Perfect gym for a serious lifter and people who like staff that aren't awful at their jobs.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE this gym! I struggle with feeling comfortable at the gym, but I really do here! There is a lot of space in this facility, I never feel too close to another member that is working out. I also love that I can go to the gym whenever fits my schedule! The monthly cost in my opinion is very affordable for all that you have access too. Great place!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff and the manager is amazing, very willing to work with any discrepancies you may have. Fantastic experience: This is the best gym in the DeKalb! By far, hands down. I’ve tried a few gyms and once I found this one, there’s no going anywhere else. It has so much more to offer that nearby gyms don’t. Whether you want to use cardio equipment, machines, squat racks, Olympic platforms, they have it all. They also are adding a smoothie bar which is legit. Can’t wait for that! 10/10 recommend this gym, and the new ownership is so awesome and friendly!

Positive experience: On 01/02/2020 I purchased a $200 package that was supposed to guarantee me membership for 3 months. I tried to access the facility on 03/17/2020 and I was totally locked out -- my key fob was deactivated. I am supposed to have 15 more days left. This is the second time this has happened -- also last year before cancelling my membership. I would like to make note that you are charged for an extra month after making an inquiry about cancelling your membership. It's a shame because I really like the community but there is an apparent issue with record keeping, management and greed. Update: I like the owner's response and appreciate his time to listen to my concerns. I did contact the 1-800 number both times I was rejected and they said it was deactivated. I will be coming in later tomorrow to see if this is true and can be fixed.

Fantastic experience: I have personally been a member for 13 years. The newest management has changed the gym and created a family environment. Being a small business is not easy, especially taking over and having to renew almost everything inside of the gym. I have the utmost respect for the Hopkins family for continuing the legacy from Wright Athletics. The manager puts in so much time and effort into keeping this gym organized and truly cares for each member. The staff always greets everyone that walks in and I truly feel at home here.

Fantastic experience: I like my gym. They put a lot of money into the place, lots of new equipment, and a new MMA gym section on top of it. This owner is the best, a lot better than the last owner. The last owner did not care about the place and had a attitude all the time. This is how the conversation would go with the Old Owner: Sir, can I ask you a question, his response WHAT? (with an attitude), then I would say, forget about it and walk away hahah.

Fantastic experience: Great place for a former athlete like myself to workout. Has more than your average planet fitness or charter. Plus less crowded during the day!!
