Fantastic experience: I have been to East Lake and South DeKalb and Decatur is the best by far! Have been a member since 2013. It's always clean - love the renovation and lots of group exercise classes to choose from!

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic community and I love going to my Y. I take spin class and sometimes swim. I look forward to my kids being old enough to use the weight room and start to take classes too.

Fantastic experience: The Decatur-DeKalb Y has so much to offer in the way of group exercise...I exercise at the Y 6/7 days per week nearly all of the time. I love my spin classes, my turbo kick classes, and my fierce funk. I really like that the machines are available and rarely is there a wait. The Y is clean & the staff are also really friendly. I am lucky to be so near this facility!

Fantastic experience: This YMCA location is one of the best I've had the luck to be at. Every single member of the staff is more than ready to help you out no matter how silly the question is (believe me, I had some silly ones.) The complex itself is kept super clean and it has all of the amenities that you would have at a 100 dollar a month gym and more! Would recommend this location if you're tossing around the idea of having something healthy to do for the next months.

Fantastic experience: I am an active senior. I joined the YMCA after I retired, and I'm hooked! I take several yoga classes. The instructors are wonderful. Each one performs different yoga routines so that all parts of your body get attention. If you want to stay healthy, keep your mobility, and feel young again, try yoga because almost everyone can benefit from it. I also recommend the senior strength classes, along with swimming and cycling. The staff and members are very welcoming and happy to be there. And, you make new friends!

Fantastic experience: One of the few branches that opens on Sundays. Since I do not work on Sundays, I love Decatur Y.

Fantastic experience: Fitness equipment is brand new and well maintained, better than other local gyms I've tried. I like that I can use a peloton one day and a treadmill another day. I like working out with on a tour of the alps or while watching Netflix. I have also used the free fitness coach. There are classes, there's a pool and there is a daycare on site. Kids have enjoyed the soccer program and the summer camp. At times the staff is busy and soccer and swim programs can be hard to get ahold of to get signed up, but it's a non-profit so I assume they are understaffed.

Fantastic experience: I love the Coach Approach program that the Y offers. I have been regularly meeting with Coach Beth since I joined the Y several months ago. She has really helped me and encouraged me to develop a work-out program suitable for my needs. I have also very much enjoyed and benefited from the yoga classes I have taken there so far. Two instructors whose classes I have attended are Jean and Kimberley. I highly recommend the Decatur Y to all those interested in a variety of physical activities.

Fantastic experience: I love the Y! Love the classes and teachers. Love the clientele - no intimidating spandex or beautiful people here - just a diverse assortment of ordinary folks getting healthy. Although the classes I attend are VERY challenging, and I am quite fit.

Fantastic experience: Our family moved from Berkeley, California to Metro Atlanta 18 years ago. In California Berkeley's YMCA was an integral part of our lives. When we moved to Georgia, I was thrilled to find out we lived 10 minutes away from not one YMCA, but 2 - Decatur and Wade Walker. I love the Y. My children grew up at the Berkeley Y, going to Summer Camp, learning how to swim and play soccer. My youngest child has Asperger's Syndrome, high functioning Autism and at 6, had difficulty socializing. On Friday evenings the Berkeley Y sponsored a social group and potluck for kids on the spectrum and their families. At the Decatur Y a staff member regularly worked with my son, showing him how to use the strength training and cardio macines. It helped my son build up his stamina so that he could participate in Marching Band at Druid Hills High School. I am a cancer survivor in remission for 11 years from Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. I work out regularly at the Y. I credit the Y for my sustained remission. The Y is such a welcoming place. I feel honored to have been a member for 24 years.

Fantastic experience: great staff, great summer camps for kids, clean facility. Love the youth sports programs - gets my kids out of the house and teaches them rules of the games.

Fantastic experience: The programs and activities that I have knowledge of are very reasonably priced and well scheduled. The Gym is nice and up to date as well as clean. There are also many classes that you can join such as HIIT, Zumba, Yoga etc.for free.

Fantastic experience: Positive: Quality I love the Decatur Family Y. It is always welcoming and inclusive to everyone. They have an array of activities offered for all levels of fitness. Their hours are excellent, and I never have to wait to have access to cardio equipment.

Fantastic experience: We just joined the YMCA and I don't know why we didn't do it sooner! Our entire family is having a great time Soccer for the boys, fitness classes for me and my daughter, pool and jacuzzi. Hubby has a personal trainer. With the weight we packed on with COVID we all need this. Now the kids are going to summer camp next week. They are so excited!

Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality Recently moving to the area from out of state was hard but everyone at the Y made me feel welcomed and like I belonged! Ruth, the wellness coach, did amazing with helping me on the machines! Andre, the cycling instructor, has the best music and helped me learn how to set up the bike and feel comfortable!

Fantastic experience: Positive: Professionalism It's is a very good place to go to get some exercise in. It's not crowded place at all. Everything is spreader out in different rooms. An they keep it very clean and sanitized. I've been going going there before and after the covid hit.

Fantastic experience: We love the classes and my youngest son especially loves the play center. Everyone there is so caring and attentive. He went through a short phase when he was wary of being left but they worked with him to make him comfortable and now he looks forward to it every time!

Fantastic experience: This place is clean, welcoming and has a wonderful variety of classes. For the most part the instructors are excellent! I am just returning to exercise at the Y after a 5 year hiatus! There are plenty of ways I can get my exercise in with classes that are meant for people with my level of fitness! I really enjoy my time at the Y!

Fantastic experience: My trainer Lisa is the greatest. She meets me wherever I am in our program. If I need to progress she has a plan. If I can not even remember what to do next she just instructs me step by step. She never seems frustrated not even when she needs to repeat instructions many times.

Fantastic experience: Love this ymca! The child care center is outstanding! Miss Mary helped us so much when our son had issues with us dropping him off (this was his first time being put in any kind of child care). She and the rest of the staff were so patient, understanding, and helpful when he needed a little extra help getting used to the childcare center. Now he is two years old and loves going to the YMCA to play while we work out. They were also so understanding when he began acting out (some behavior issues due to getting used to our new baby). They kindly told us about the issues and asked how we wanted them to correct him and still made us feel comfortable and welcome to continue bringing him to the child care center. They truly understand child development and genuinely want to help kids learn and grow to their best potential!

Fantastic experience: Spin with Andre is the best, going for 4+ years now. Would like to try Pilates or piyo but 730p on a weeknight is too late. Love the annual 4K run!

Fantastic experience: A comfortable, safe place for all walks of life. Old, young, thick, thin... They have towels and sanitation is key. They provide wipes for machine use. Fancy workout outfits are not necessary. All fitness levels are welcome.

Fantastic experience: I just want to say Chartez the new Deck Manager is really a god sent person because he's very attentive to the swimmers. He encourages them to face adversity and he's the epitome of a Aquatic Professional. He has the remarkable ability to increase customer service and as I watch him with the staff he alway seem to boost there energy he pushes them to more professional growth I honestly think that he needs a Promotion. I more comfortable coming to swim now because I feel that he is very responsible. Chartez is an impressive manager who is always accountable for the Pool and staff. His knowledge of Swimming and expertise in Aquatic Management is a huge advantage to the entire Community at Decatur YMCA . This guy is truly amazing ! He need to be a director.

Fantastic experience: I workout at the Decatur ymca 4 or five times a week. It's always a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere, especially after having a long day at work. It is very convenient to my job, which is a plus. The Staff members are always very pleasant and helpful. You never get bored there is a wide variety of activities, equipment, (there is also pool, whirlpool and steam room ) to meet the needs of everyone from beginners to the advanced. Fantastic experience: Nice new facility and good mix of equipment. Family-friendly. Heated indoor pool, hot tub and steam room. I like the classes a lot, but they could offer a few more hard core classes.

Fantastic experience: I've recently started going to Decatur YMCA about a month and half ago, and I can say by far it's the best "Y" I've been to so far. I was going to South Dekalb "Y" but I've switched. Nobody bothers you while you are working out at Decatur "Y". South Dekalb "Y" sucks! It's old, out-dated, and the personnel sucks! Decatur Family "Y" rocks!
