Equinox The Loop: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great location and great staff. Really cannot say better things. I normally use 3 equinox locations (highland park, 900 N Michigan and the Loop) but this is by far my favorite (assuming I am not swimming that day as they don't have a pool). Only ding could be hours are not as good as the other locations with is to be expected given how the Loop dies on weekends and holidays.
Fantastic experience: Equinox classes are the best fitness classes I have every been to. They are fun and also powerful. Instructors are highly knowledgable and the facilities are very clean.
Positive experience: On a quick business trip to Chicago, I did not want to miss out on a workout. Thus, my good old friend Equinox is there to save the day. This particular location is right in the heart of the financial district, and is great for people to sneak in a workout after work. During my visit, I decided to stop on by around 4-5pm. Surprisingly, there was not a crowd, which is always a definite plus. This location is pretty small in comparison to the other clubs in Chicago and across the country, but that's understandable considering the location. The first floor is dedicated to the juice/salad bar, front desk, and the little offices for the membership advisors. The second floor is where you'll find your locker rooms, weight/cardio area, and your dance/spinning studios. Right off the bat, I realized that although the workout area is small, the locker rooms are quite spacious. There are plenty of lockers and changing room to accommodate everyone, and there is also a sauna and steam room that some smaller Equinoxs do not have. On the downside, there are only about 8 shower stalls, so I can imagine that during peak hours, people will sometimes have to wait to use the shower. For the weight room, there is pretty much all you need here that you'd find at any other club. When I was there, I did not have to wait for any machine, so the lack of extra machines was not an issue to me. There are plenty of cardio machines, and of course, they are right next to the amazing eucalyptus towels! On the downside, there aren't a whole lot of free weights, and I couldn't find any kettle balls when I was trying to get my workout in. All in all, this is a great location if you work in the area, or just looking for a quick workout. I'd definitely check with your work if you can squeeze out a corporate discount with Equinox cause any saving is a good saving. Although this location is small, it isn't super crowded, and has just about 80% of all the things you'd find at a full fledged club. Equinox is Equinox, and in the end, there is nothing that will sway me to another club. I love Equinox!
Positive experience: Pros: Location is very convenient. The place is super clean, and the staff is always friendly. The machines are pretty modern and I have very rarely had to wait for cardio equipment. There are also plenty of free weights, so there is almost never a wait for those either. The spinning classes are better than average, but not the best I've ever attended. You can sign up for spinning bikes online, which is convenient. The locker room is relatively nice and has amazing hairdryers (Super Solano). Cons: I absolutely hate their Equinox-branded shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. HATE IT. It's so terrible that I have to bring my own products everyday instead. I also don't care for the classes. They are not very high intensity, and they are usually taught by overly bubbly instructors with bad 80's style aerobics music. The classes also get very crowded. Even if you arrive early to claim some space, you'll probably get pushed over into a tiny corner spot. My last complaint is that the weekend hours are limited. However, that is not all bad because you can use another Equinox when the Loop location is closed. All in all, Equinox is somewhere between okay and good, but probably isn't worth the $120/mo that I paid (and that was with a company discount).
Fantastic experience: Immaculate, but spendy. $118/month
Positive experience: we got the gym pass from the Talbott Hotel, and the space there is great. The rooms are split into sections so that you never feel like you are working out in one giant room. The only thing that is they don't give you slippers...so bring your own.
Fantastic experience: Best gym you can ever find. You literally don't need anything but the clothes on your back when you workout. THey provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, razors! And much more. Friendly staff. Love it. Your truly pampered here.
Fantastic experience: Nice new equipment, surround by people who actually want to workout!!!
Positive experience: Tiny. There’s no pool, fine. But no yoga room? Cmon. Gold Coast location is better
Positive experience: Great club. Checks all the boxes. Clean locker room, clean and always-organized workout areas, great Kiehl’s amenities, towels, etc. Even the patrons seem to be good about reracking weights (mind blown). Everything you’d expect from an Equinox. A bit on the small side…but still I’ve never seen it too crowded when visiting this club.
Positive experience: I liked it!
Fantastic experience: Excellent equipment! Not over crowded, good vibes all around!
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout.
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout. The loop location isn’t very busy, tons of open availability for classes, equipment and treadmills. Very clean location. Also have access to the other 3 clubs on the weekends.
Fantastic experience: Clean, clean, clean and that is all that matters
Positive experience: The maintenance team does such a great job in keeping this gym clean. Everything is always organized I don't have to look around the gym for their strength equipment. The studios are always spotless. The locker rooms are always kept tidy. Every staff member has always been courteous. Love it.
Positive experience: It’s a clean, safe, welcoming environment. Rob is a great person to get your membership from! He is very knowledgeable and personable. Checks in on you, and makes sure you are enjoying your membership. A handful of the trainers are very friendly and welcoming in the gym.
Positive experience: I have not been to other Equinox locations. But, this particular location seems to be nothing more than a over priced Planet Fitness. I found the front staff to be snobby and I found some of the clientele too upper class for me. The place was clean and I never had to wait for a machine. But, this place is not worth the price of membership. But, I will be back here again only because I have a membership. There is no other reason to go. My advice is not to become a member for this location. Maybe other locations are better?
Fantastic experience: My body hurts so good! ✨ I am a sucker for great customer service, quality, and sincere energy; and I got nothing less of all three of these BEFORE! the very first moment I stepped foot into the Loop location. Their passion and expertise make staying motivated effortless!
Fantastic experience: Clean and centrally located. That's really all i'm looking for in a gym these days. They have pretty much every machine you would need. I have never used private training but one of these days Ill take the plunge!
Fantastic experience: In the heart of the loop near the historic “L”. A nice park is also here.
Fantastic experience: Awesome find. My favorite charity is close by.. The İnternational Fellowship of Christians And Jews. Highly recommend both...
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Staff was super friendly!
Fantastic experience: Love it
Fantastic experience: Love it so far! The staff is really lovely, and your fellow patrons are super courteous. A gentleman was really chill about sharing the weight bench with me without being "too friendly", and a kind young lady was cognizant that her phone was taking up space on the mat without me having to say boo. I go during a really busy time too. The lady's locker room could use more counter and mirror space (that's the only bit than can get mildly Mad Max), but overall it's a nice gym experience .
Fantastic experience: It is a pretty nice gym.It is a great place to relax and workout.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym, great trainers and awesome classes and facilities
Fantastic experience: Equinox has everything you want in a high-end gym: the equipment is in excellent condition, the place is very clean, staff is helpful and friendly, and there are exciting exercise classes offered. I recommend Equinox to anyone working in the loop that is looking for an experience.
