TRACFIT: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I have been "Training for Life" with TRACFIT since June 2012. When I joined I was looking for a gym to have me make a change in my life. I had just returned from a Hawaii vacation and saw my pictures. I was not happy and soon I was going to be hitting a mile stone birthday. I decided I needed to make a life change as I did not want my out of shape body determining what I could and could not's physically do. Part of the issue was that I had back surgery over 20 years ago and it was getting harder and harder to get out of bed without stretching with the additional weight. I did not realize at the time what a significant impact TRACFIT would have on my life. I have made changes in my eating habits and my priorities for my health. By the changes in my life I have also positively influenced others around me to think about and make changes in their lives. The additional surprises were that I found a very supportive community with the other members, coaches and Trac the owner. I feel a sense of belonging, something that I have not experienced at other gyms over the years. The other things I like about TRACFIT are the friendships I have made, the encouragement I receive, the Charities they gym supports and the self confidence I have gained. The bonus is now that I have a granddaughter I am able to keep up with her since I strengthened my core to the point that my back problems are gone. I am looking forward to the new gym location and the continued "Training for Life".
Fantastic experience: I have been with Tracfit since 2013 . It was a journey that I never thought would be my path to keep myself fit outside of my house. I myself can be very self-disciplined, so I never thought that I will pay to get training in a gym because there are always ways to be disciplined and exercises in the home without spending time in traffic. I did Yoga, P90x and Gilard on fit TV , all different types of DVD workouts at home until my boyfriend wanted to find a thing to do together and he chose Tracfit. In order to fulfill the commitment, I joined Tracfit together. My mindset has changed over the years, from 2 days per week working out in Tracfit to 3 days per week, then 4 days per week till now, 5-6 days per week. At the beginning I still didn’t think I needed to go that often since I can do other workouts at home on my own. Slowly I realized how Trac designs his WOD each day by really putting a lot of mind into balancing out each muscle groups with different types of movements and choices of workout in order to adapt to each different individual. He is so creative in designing all different combinations of workout; It makes us never bored while adjusting to different fitness levels . I got addicted to Tracfit because I know there won’t be another Trac that who is so passionate about teaching people to be fit and who has that mastermind behind designing all these addicting workouts! Regardless of your workout , at Tracfit, there is no judgement, only love!
Fantastic experience: I've been training at TracfiT for one month and I'm amazed that from being a total couch potato now I'm capable to row 500m, run 400m, do push-ups, burpees, etc. I've always had a hard time keeping myself motivated but now I look forward to every class because of the great support of the peers that without knowing me are always cheering me up and the non judgmental support and advice from my great coach Trac. I chose this place because of their Fundamentales program were they teach you step by step how to do the exercises according to your abilities at the beginning and the nutrition advice. I'm very satisfied because I've been given what was promised.
Fantastic experience: For the past 8.5 years I’ve walked into Tracfit looking forward to welcoming hugs and jolly conversations about everyone's day. This might sound like a silly way to start a review but it's the very thing I look forward to after work. I've watched this community grow over the years and I consider them all family. I started Tracfit in 2010 with the goal of losing weight. Little did I know I would find this amazing community. After learning how to address my health and wellness I have a nutrition plan I can live with, increased strength and flexibility and an amazing spike in mental toughness. Oh and yes, I lost the weight as a result. We suffer together, we support each other and we laugh together.
Fantastic experience: Having joined Tracfit, I was definitely surprised in how much potential I had at the gym. You begin to build endurance, speed, and strength beyond your expectations within 3-5 weeks of training. Prior to Tracfit, I would only push myself so far at 24 hr fitness, doing the same routine over and over again. When starting out, I committed to 10 personal training sessions with my coach. (Shout to Coach Rod!) I always thought crossfit trainers would work you until you can lift an insane amount of weights without focusing on technique. BUT NO, Coach Rod emphasized heavily on practicing the correct form at the perfect level for all the skills. I've learned to prevent any bodily injuries first and foremost. Then he would go into body strengthening and slowly increase weights to challenge my own ability. I didn't even realize my potential until CrossFit. During my personal sessions, Coach Rod would engage me into the group workouts for a small part of the session. This not only challenged me in a way to persevere as a team in completing a workout under the time limit together, but it also allowed me to form a bond with my team which I thought was difficult to find elsewhere. I am your average girl at 115 lbs and 5'2. I wasn't looking for weight loss. My goal coming in was to maintain this body while eating whatever I want. But coming out of the personal sessions with Coach Rod, I have built up my endurance, acquired the proper techniques in the skills learned, gained more confidence in my body, and strengthened in my mind and soul.
Fantastic experience: Eight years, a master’s degree, a marriage, and 2 kids later, and I still can say I am in the best shape of my life. I have been with this community since it opened its doors at the old location on Brokaw, and while I have visited and worked out with different gyms, there is none like this one. It is more than just a gym for many of us, it is a community, our community. One that anyone can be apart of, as long as you can live by one of our main philosophies, “no judgement, just love.” This is where I, and many others have learned about training for life. For us, it starts at the top. Trac is one of the most genuine and honorable people I know, and I model many of my own leadership principles after him. He is a man, who leads from the front. He will do more than tell you, he will show you. He is also a leader, who will learn from his students, and because of this we continue to grow and evolve as a community. In this community, you will get stronger, faster, but most important of all, healthier. You can get stronger and faster at any gym, but not many will actually make you a better person. “ No judgement, just love” is one of the many principles and philosophies that you can learn and apply to your life from this community. Some of my favorites are, “leave people, places, and things in better condition than the way you found them” and “become comfortable with the uncomfortable” and “do the right thing, even if no one is watching.” It’s amazing what you can learn from a workout, and how you can apply it into your own life. From doing a full range rep in a workout, to picking up an extra piece of trash that is not your own. We don’t just do this in our gym. We take these lessons with us out into the world, together. Anything from volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, completing Tough Mudders, GoRuck, etc. We like to do things together. We are a community. If you just want to put your head down, get in a quick workout, and not get to know the people around you, this probably is not the place for for you. But if you are open to being a part of something more than a gym, come walk through those doors.
Fantastic experience: Short Version If you've never done Crossfit - that's ok!! Trac and the whole Tracfit community is 100% worth it. If you're looking to make a change in your life for the better, this is it :) Long Version I started going to Tracfit in March of 2018. I wasn't in the shape that I knew I could be in and wanted/needed a change. When I went for my free consultation with Trac, that one on one with him left me excited to start training as well as thinking of what I really wanted (we talked through what my goals were, etc). I will say that while some find it strange that someone ask you what your goal/motivation is - it's 100% needed if you want to make a positive change in your life AND make it stick. If you're looking for a drop in and get out type of gym... this isn't it... Here's been my experience so far with this gym and community. Beginning at Tracfit I started doing 1:1's with Trac. Since it had been a good while that I've been consistent with training, it was rough to say the least haha. But with my motto being - keep showing up - I eventually started to see improvements. I could run a little further, hold a plank a little longer, lift a little more weight and it was great :) About 4 months later I signed up for my first 10K... Not something I thought I could do, but I did it!! (with the helpful nudge from Trac + the community) :) Once it came time to transition to group classes - it went super smooth and it was exciting to workout with all the awesome people Trac! It's amazing to see someone who "practices what he preaches". Trac is a great coach in that he knows when to push you (ie - you can lift a little more, you can run a little faster) and he also knows when to scale something down in order to make sure you're doing the movement safely + the intended outcome in a particular workout. Trac's dedication and drive is certainly contagious - during our 1:1's I always felt that he was focused on that 1 hour he had with me and made sure that I was slowly working towards the goals I had initially set out The Coaches + Community The coaches are fantastic! If you ever need to scale anything down, they work with you since the goal of training here isn't to push hard and *hopefully* you don't get hurt... it's to push hard and do it in a way that makes you stronger, faster the safest way possible Today - 9 Months of Training For as long as I can remember, I've had knee issues. When/if necessary I still scale some of the workouts. If I feel like pushing myself, I give it my all in the gym for that day. If I need a more "chill" workout day, I scale it back. I've done one 10K already and have an 8K that I'm signed up for in 2019. While I'm not where I want to be fitness/health wise, I've learned how to stay consistent, show up and work towards those goals step by step :) With it being the Bay Area, of course there's no shortage of gyms, places to work out, activities to get you into shape etc... This place is special though because of the community of welcoming coaches + people training :)
Fantastic experience: Absolutely great facility! This review is really really long pending and should have been written atleast 4 years back. They motivated me change my lifestyle forever. I lost a bunch of weight just before I got married and over achieved my weight goal. This whole experience changed my life and has impacted me in the best way ever. The whole community is so pepped up and motivating . Unfortunately, I went skiing and ended up with a torn ACL. Life happened and I just could not go back again. Wish them the very best and I hope they continue to motivate people to stay healthy and fit.
Fantastic experience: I am 50 years old. Trackfit has a program for all ages. What I like about this CrossFit gym is we always stretch before we work out the workouts have scale up and scale down for people of all ages. There's a diversity of different ethnicities and people are very kind and friendly. Most importantly the coaches are very knowledgeable and you learn a lot of good techniques in order to be successful. I highly recommend Tracfit for people looking to get in shape.
Fantastic experience: 4 years ago I joined Tracfit because I was looking for a community to join and get back in shape. Having played water polo and swimming competitively throughout high school and college, I was accustomed to having guidance and once I no longer had practices to go to I was left without much knowledge of what to do in the gym. TRACFIT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE! When i say this I am not exaggerating. I have become a healthier and more grounded person as going to workout is a big stress reliever for me. Tracfit has taught me what it means to be strong. Not only physically strong but mentally as well. Before coming here, I was focussed on being "skinny". I constantly tore myself down internally because I felt like I did not fit into conventional beauty/body standards. Every time I came to work out, I was inspired by all the members and coaches to be a better version of myself. Every time I complete a workout that I think I'm not ready for I make a little more progress mentally. I was always encouraged, especially when I felt like I was not measuring up. I competed in both power lifting and Olympic weightlifting competitions through the encouragement I received! These are things I would have NEVER believed I would be able to do. I learned that my journey was my own and having a strong and capable body to do things I love (backpacking, snowboarding, hiking, etc.) became more important than being just "skinny". Tracfit has also given me the tools to be able to workout on my own so that I will always be able to better myself and live a long and healthy life. They guide you every step of the way and make sure that you are prepared to do the workout. If you need to make adjustments due to injuries or substitute a movement to ensure your safety, they put that above all else This is NOT YOUR TYPICAL gym. The services offered her are priceless in my opinion. If you decide to give it a chance, I'm sure you will be able to find something that works for you. I'm a better person because of Tracfit
Fantastic experience: Long pending review : One year back found this place & I did correct decision in joining CrossFit101/TracFit. My coach was Rod & he was so nice in teaching all movements & same time encouraging to bring best out of me. One thing which I really liked here is respect for others & everyone here are so down to earth. Special thanks to Coach Trac for building such a nice community. I would say I have done right thing in joining this community & recommend to everyone !!!!
Fantastic experience: To Start with “One of the BEST decisions I have taken in my life joining Tracfit” I’ve joined Crossfit when I didn’t even know what Crossfit is. I used to always see “Tracfit” (Formerly known as Crossfit 101) on my way to SJC Airport and decided to yelp it one evening and it has all 5 stars. I’m like OK, let me just go check this out. Note: I was 210 lbs. then I walked in, greeted by one of the amazing coaches and my experience of that evening as follows: Coach: Explains what Crossfit is and about Tracfit and other programs within Tracfit and says, “Let’s do a quick evaluation before we get on 1-1 personal training sessions”. Shall we? Me: What is quick evaluation? Coach: Just some basic stuff, like 400m run, some Squatting, some wall balls. just some basic stuff Me: Sure, seems like not bad. Coach: please take the 20 lbs. med ball and go for a quick 400 M run. Me: Takes the 20 lbs, med ball on the shoulder and on my way for a run, completes 200 m run and THREW UP, completes the remaining 200 m run and THREW UP again. Coach: Not a problem Satya, it happens. Now, let’s do 10 wall balls Me: Sure, I go for doing 5 wall balls, THREW UP, I go for another 5 wall balls, THREW UP again Coach: Me: huffing and puffing Coach: Satya, you OK, right? Me: yes, yes, it’s been long time that I did any work outs. Coach: We haven’t even started a work out ☺ After few minutes and many throw ups, my a** was on the floor for 30 mins. I left the gym thinking how was I not able to do such basic movements in my life at a young age. Next Morning, I decided I have to join Crossfit to have my life under control. From that time onwards, there’s no looking back. Note: I’m at 168 lbs. now Highlights of Tracfit Amazing, Amazing Coaches.Awesome community, which doesn’t make you feel like an outsider. No Judgement Important: when I tell others that I do Crossfit, I hear them saying that to join Crossfit you have to a fit person already. NO, that’s not true, you can be of any age and at any level of fitness or have never done any work out in your life, you can always start/scale at a level you are comfortable and keep scaling high. Coaches at Tracfit got you covered. To end with, I have to say a big Thank you to Trac and Coaches and my fellow Tracfitters for helping/supporting me to be what I am. Best!!!!
Fantastic experience: I have always been skinny and fit during my younger years. As I joined the work force, fast food and buffets were convenient and delicious. One day, I stepped on a broken scale that read 220. My pants somehow shrunk in the dryer over night! My doctor recommended me to eat better and get more exercise. He gave me a pamphlet outlined with pictures of green vegetables, dairy and poultry. Okay, so I started eating Kentucky Fried Chicken. Green beans, chicken with mac and cheese. I went back for a following checkup. My doctor put me on a treadmill to perform a stress test. The test was supposed to start with a slow walk then light jog. Before I got to jog, my doctor stopped the test and said "You're wasting my time" I was shocked at the statement because I thought I had been eating better and getting healthier. It turns out I didn't know what I was doing. There was no guidance as to what to eat and how to exercise correctly. I've been training with Trac for almost 10 years. We started off at a global gym and transitioned to a park then his own facility. He has always been passionate about changing peoples' lives for the better. The workouts kick my butt every time, but I keep coming back for more. My fitness journey has had its ups and downs. I started a new job, got married had a kid. One thing is for sure. I've always came back to TracFit because of Trac and the community he's worked so hard to build. "No judgement, just love"
Fantastic experience: It’s been over a year since I started training at Tracfit. I love the community and structure of training provided. The coaches are incredible and have helped me focus on fundamentals and techniques. Every training session is well structured and have enjoyed the workout with the my fellow Tracfitters! If you are looking for training for life it’s never too late to give it a shot at this place :)
Fantastic experience: I had just finished school and I realized I was very out of shape. I've usually been pretty athletic my whole life, so I wanted to get back into fitness. I've done the whole 24 hour gym thing, but it got pretty boring fast. That's when I found TRACFIT. It seems similar to other CrossFit gyms I've researched but I really like the fact that they start your training based on what I was capable of doing. The one on one focus helped me to use my strengths and also allowed me to improve on my weaknesses. One thing that's always kept me from trying out this style of working out was that the people and workouts can be extremely intimidating, but I was so surprised that the staff and other members are so welcoming. And since I've been working with my coach for a few weeks now, I've got that confidence to work out at the group class level (but still at my own pace!)
Fantastic experience: TracFit has changed my life for the better. I am faster, stronger, more flexible, healthier, and happier from being part of the TracFit community for 7 years now. The coaches are world-class. You will be hard pressed to find coaches that are more knowledgable, professional, and caring than the team of coaches. Each student has a personal coach that makes sure they are always safe and always constantly progressing towards their fitness goals. The facility is simple and contains all the equipment you need for functional fitness. Everything you do in the gym directly translates to you leading a healthier life. You will feel revitalized, light, and fresh. You may feel intimidated - after all, you always see depictions of buff men and women performing superhuman acts. Beginners at TracFit all go through personal training classes, one on one, with a coach. The goal is to safely prepare you to enter our group classes. You graduate from personal training once our coach deems you are ready, and thus, you are always safe and prepared for the workouts. For those looking for strength gains, this is the place to be. I started CrossFit weighing in at 135lbs. My goal was to gain muscle mass while keeping body fat low. The coaching staff and programming helped me to get to where I am now: 160bs and 10% body fat. I actually look forward to going to the gym. I look forward to the workouts. I look forward to hanging out with the TracFit community. I look forward to continuing to push my limits. I look forward to a long and healthy life.
Fantastic experience: I'm a 4 year member of Tracfit and over that time I have learned about more than just the get-in-shape tools that come with a fitness community. I have learned resilience, humility, patience, and how to check my ego at the door. If you have a desire to improve not only your fitness but also your outlook, this is a great place to be. You will be surrounded by like-minded, supportive people and a cadre of caring coaches who are committed to helping you become a better version of yourself.
Fantastic experience: My husband and I were in our mid 60’s when we started with Tracfit back in November 2010. After a short time, my husbands physician took him off Cholesterol medication as it was below 100. His blood pressure was also decreased. I have hip dysplasia so I would encounter pain and it was painful to work in the garden as I was not able to squat for long periods of time to weed and work in the garden, thus it was creating pain in my back from the stooping and bending for long periods of time. After working out with Coach Trac I am able to squat very low and for long periods of time to garden and do other chores, which saves my back now All the coaches are very caring, knowledgeable and professional. I have learned its not so much about how much weight a person can lift, but their goal and focus is on the proper technique, and form for each movement to avoid injury. Thus, my husband and I have avoided injuries because of the proper training we have received all of these years. Each and every movement has an alternative or can be scaled down. Because of my hip mobility and wrist issues now I have many alternatives and they all work for me. The coaches have an watchful eye and will critique our form during our workout to prevent injury. The facility is very clean and every participant is expected to wipe down the gear and equipment after each use so it is ready for the next athlete. I’ve been to other places outside of Tracfit that does not expect this discipline of cleanliness and it shows. Tracfit is more than a place to workout and a gym its a place that offers a sense of belonging to a community. Before every class we have a meet and greet which means we greet each person. If you’re looking for a place to workout that is a safe, and a fun loving environment where there is no judgment but just Love, this is the place. You will learn from the best coaches who are extremely knowledgeable and patient. We all accept and help one another, its not uncommon to see us helping one another after a workout ️♀️ as we assist each other in dismantling and putting the weights back in their proper order for the next class. Everyone is kind, respectful, friendly and helpful. Again we are more like a tight knit family community, if you are looking for a place to workout where you are welcomed and want to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle this is the place. Today, my husband and I are close to 70 Years old we will keep attending as our Cardiologist says that it’s the best investment one can make for their health is to continue to exercise, keep it moving. Hope to see you there. Best choice and investment we have made for ourselves. Thank you Coach Trac and Helen for all you do for us and others in helping us to live healthier lives.
Fantastic experience: Me and my girlfriend were looking to change our lifestyle. Lately we were getting lazy and working out at a regular open gym was not cutting it. We needed a place that had structure and gives support and gives us that extra push. So we started looking into a personal gym. We met with Trac and from day one he inspired us. He told us his journey and how life changing training has been. Two days later we had our very first one on one class. And to tell you the truth, after our first class I was ready to throw up. But we stuck to it and Trac kept giving us support. We would meet one on one three times a week for the first two months. We would go over nutrition and go over how to do basic movements. He didn't want to throw us into group class and get injured. Not like some other gyms that I heard of. Now we are in group class and we are so much stronger. For example I used to never be able to do a dip and now I can do ten reps no problem. The other coaches are awesome and they take care of us. Making sure we are ok and pushing us to our limits. Group class has a family feel. We will joke around and give each other encouragement. I am so grateful for finding this gym. Our lives have totally changed.
Fantastic experience: I have been training at TracFit (formerly CrossFit101) for almost 3 years. I was a complete newbie to the crossfit style of training and the mixed reviews on the internet about crossfit in general made me very skeptical if this was the right program for me. But I believe this is where TracFit really distinguishes itself from many other gyms because of how they approach and execute the crossfit style of training. My fitness journey started with the 1-on-1 consultation to understand my goals, my motivation and evaluation, followed by 20 personal training sessions where I was taught and trained in the correct technique for all the movements that would be used in group classes and from here I transitioned into group classes. My fitness journey is a work in progress, but I'm probably in the best shape of my life than ever before. I feel stronger and more confident about myself. I owe this transformation to the fantastic Coach Trac who has had a tremendous positive influence on me! He is passionate about his gym and works extremely hard to constantly improve your experience in the gym. His vision and leadership has brought together a great team of coaches who are dedicated to helping their clients achieve their fitness goals and sustain it. The most unique thing about TracFit is the awesome community of people. There is no judgment here, just respect, support and lots of encouragement from the whole group. The coaches and the clients together have transformed this place from more than just a gym. In addition to specialty training programs, the gym has hosted and participated in many fundraising events as well organized many group events both inside and outside of the gym. It has been an honor to be part of this wonderful community and don't think it gets better than this. Joining TracFit is probably one of the best decisions I have made in a while and it has been an enriching experience. I have not only lost over 35 lbs, but training here has changed me for the better in many ways. I now train for life! :)
Fantastic experience: I worked out at Tracfit for 4 years, but for logistical reasons am no longer there. Although I've moved on to another box, I am forever grateful to Trac and the coaches whose passion for fitness/overall well being and care for the community results in a super welcoming and awesome place to get your sweat on. The WODs offer a wide mix of gymnastics/weights/cardio and with a variety of specialty classes, team competitions, and community get togethers, there is never a dull moment. They say you don't know what you got until it's gone, and I certainly do miss the organization and cleanliness of this gym and the "good habits" that the coaches stress that make it that way. Sad to have left such an incredible place and all the great people I've met over the years... I highly recommend checking tracfit out!
Fantastic experience: Been part of the TracFit community for about 2 years now and have to say I'm in the best shape of my life despite being part of a competitive swim team for 9 years. Best thing about TracFit is the community of people (coaches and peers) you become close friends with. Not much can bring people closer together than suffering through a workout together and laughing about it afterwards. Basic programming is you'll get assigned a "coach for life" who will be your primary coach throughout your entire fitness journey at TracFit. You'll go through a fitness evaluation to get a baseline and go through personal training sessions to get your skill, strength, and endurance up before joining group classes. During this personal training sessions you'll learn the foundations for movements commonly seen during WODs and (if you're like me) you'll begin to see drastic changes in your fitness. From there you "graduate" into group classes. Before joining TracFit I was going to the local CitySports but it was repetitive and boring. My friend who had already been part of TracFit for years highly recommended I give it a shot. My goal was to get stronger, put on more muscle, and just overall become more athletic. I went from 138lbs to 155lbs within several months of joining. Been holding steady at 155lbs ever since but have continued to get stronger and increased my endurance. Each day is an opportunity to become a better version of yourself and TracFit offers you the tools & guidance to do so!
Fantastic experience: The most supportive environment you'll ever find in a fitness gym! The coaches are very knowledgeable and actively support your goals, and will make you want to come to train every day. To me, that's key. Rather than pressured and shamed you'll feel welcome, encouraged and supported.
Fantastic experience: Been training here for four years on going and its my second home.I challenge myself to be better each day and it works for me. This place is very structured and if you truly want to change your lifestyle, drop by and speak to one of the coaches.
Fantastic experience: I have been a member since 2010. I can’t imagine my life without it. It changed me for the better. It has improved my health and outlook on fitness. The workouts here have helped me build lean muscle and keep my weight stable. The group classes are great. I’ve met so many new friends and workout buddies over the years. This community is one of a kind. The coaches are amazing, caring and are truly invested in your long term health. Not a quick fix, magic pill kind of gym. Trac the owner cares beyond just your fitness. He cares about your health, diet, and mental being. He is one of the nicest human beings you can meet. A down to earth guy who puts his heart and soul in everything he does. I am so happy to be part of this family and looking fwd to continuing my fitness journey with them for a long time.
Fantastic experience: Amazing community of people. I've been going to Tracfit for the past 3 years and it has become an essential part of my week. All the coaches are great and they work really hard to make sure you are on the right path. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: Great facility and fantastic coaches! You get a good workout in while meeting new people. Been here for more than 3 yrs. ❤️
