Riverstone Climbing Gym

Fantastic experience: This is my favorite place in tri cities! My boys always have a good time, it is always clean, never too busy, and a great workout!

Fantastic experience: We enrolled our daughter in the kids' rock climbing class at the beginning of summer. She was in a challenging circumstance - long COVID has made high-simulation environments hard for her. While the environment in these classes is definitely high-simulation, it's easy for kids to walk off to a calmer space, get a drink of water and some alone time, and take a break when they get overwhelmed - then join back in again once they can. The casual environment lets kids take things slow as they start, but encourages them to try new things and take risks (with proper safety precautions) when they are ready. The focus is on making a safe environment and providing kids with fun options and games, then letting them choose how much to participate with class activities or explore on their own. And it works! Her younger brother has also joined the classes, and both of them are doing climbing feats that seemed amazing to them when they started just a few months ago. They come home almost every class telling me about a new route they climbed or a new friend they made. I haven't heard about a single negative social interaction - but tons of positive experiences! They are making friends across age groups, too, which is great. I can see the difference in their physical fitness, as well. Definitely a workout for both their bodies and their character, and well enjoyed! This has motivated my daughter to learn about other adventure sports, and now she is exploring orienteering as well. It's so good to see her uncovering passions like this, especially after dealing with illness and quarantine for so long. We've also done some day passes with the whole family, and the staff are great! Supportive, passionate, and eager to share their knowledge. I'd definitely encourage people to grab day passes here and try out rock climbing for themselves!

Fantastic experience: Nice little local gym. A good variety of set routes, though most set routes are 5.9+.

Fantastic experience: Margot (probably spelled that wrong) was awesome. She was fun to chat with and told me about a new outdoor area I wanna try. It was easy to get signed up, got to top rope on the auto belay and do some bouldering. Bigger than gyms, smaller than others, but it had everything I wanted. Even bought a pair of used shoes that fit!

Fantastic experience: So much fun. First off, gentleman at the front was knowledgeable and excited about rock climbing. The pricing was fair and they had discounts for military, first responders etc which was nice. We strapped on the harness and climbing shoes and used the lowering cable for solo climbers. In other words, they have a reel on the cable so a partner isn't needed. When you climb to the top you just jump backwards and it catches you and lowers slowly. It's scary for that millisecond you wait for the reel to catch but it's a ton of fun. My wife and I had a blast. I want to get into climbing now. I will be back.

Fantastic experience: Its great, my cousin had had his birthday there twice and I have had it the once planning on having it there again sometime and one of the people there where very nice and I got up a wall the I thought was pretty hard. It a great place over all!

Fantastic experience: This place is great! The staff is super friendly, and the routes change often so there's always a new challenge. My 3 year old niece loves it as much as my 19 year old son. It's a great place to spend a few hours!

Fantastic experience: I was randomly visiting the Mt Vernon area for a family vacation and was in desperate need of a climbing fix (yes, the obsession is real). I went on mountainproject.com for some outdoor bouldering, but to no avail, could not find a good access point to the few routes in the area. Thankfully, I found this little gem in town and thought they had great bouldering, an auto belay, and some nice traversing throughout the facility. I am spoiled by my gym at home, but found this to be an excellent use of space for such a small gym. Two thumbs way up!

Fantastic experience: I've only interacted with Brandon and Will but they have both been fantastic. I took the lead course with Brandon and he was extremely patient. He was so helpful, I've learned a ton, and I'm excited to take it outdoors once I practice a little more. Will was there to help answer questions on things like rappelling, leading, and climbing outdoors on another visit. Seriously a great staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend this gym and I've never felt more welcomed! We move around a lot so I've been to a ton of gyms around the county and this one has been definitely my favorite place because of the people and atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Another great evening with my 10 yr old daughter. Clean place, friendly, great value for the time spent. Mr Brandon is on it. Changing lanes, new challenges, various skill levels, low free climb, pretty gnarly inverts and overhangs if you stick.to the routes. Daughter ask to go there and loves it. I fully suppet her wanting to be athletic and burning energy. Safe environment.

Fantastic experience: Small, but well worth the 30 minutes trip south of Bellingham. Closest rope climbing gym to Bellingham, and offers some interesting bouldering as well. Most routes range from 5.8 up to 5.12, and bouldering problems seem to range from V1 through V6, with a focus on the middle of that range. They don't seem to set often, some of the older routes are five months old, most are about 2-3 months old. Bouldering, top roping, and lead climbing all feel equally important here, despite its size. They have two auto-belays, so if you don't have a partner you can still practice longer routes. Friendly staff, feels much like a climbing co-op. Upper area has coffee and water, as well as a small area to sit and read or study, overlooking the climbing area. No showers that I saw, just gendered bathrooms. Not a fancy place but definitely worth a look. Their grades are harder than Vital in Bellingham, so I wouldn't recommend bringing non-climbers.

Fantastic experience: Very fun climbing gym. Relaxed atmosphere and tons of routes so you always have some that are your difficulty level. Top rope, lead climbing, auto belay, and bouldering.

Fantastic experience: Had my sons birthday party here it was stress free and so much fun for all of the kids. It was all the kids first time and the owner along with his employees made both my boys as well as the other kids feel safe and confident enough to climb to the top. I cant wait to take my kids back and make it a fun spot we go to together regularly. Highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: Great rock climbing gym! They even have FREE yoga on Sunday mornings at 11am! Helps a lot with sore muscles. They have kids teams even! They give lessons or you can just climb. Prices are for all day and they are open late.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy coming to this gym. The atmosphere is great, and you can rent any of the supplies to need to walk in and start climbing right away. One of the special things about this gym is the staff and the interior. The gym has many different routes and challenges for the most experienced climbers and also plenty beginner routes and bouldering sections for new-comers. Whoever you are you can definitely have a great time at this gym.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place for kids - can't recommend enough. This really is a great activity for kids 6+. My daughter and I (she is 6) went there for my nieces birthday party and everyone had an absolute blast including the adults. The owner was very good with the kids and they even have a nice space up above where you can bring in food, gifts, etc. Really great place! Support this business if you're local!
