Fantastic experience: Personal trainer, Tyler Mathurin is ‘hands down’ the best at what he does at RWJ Firness and Wellness in his role of a tier 2 trainer! He is attentive, consistent and genuine in that he cares about the fitness goals of his clients! He tells you the ‘real deal’ / the truth about reaching your fitness goals involves a commitment on your part to being consistent with your individualized training routines but that it also means better management of diet and liquid intake. Ive been a member of RWJ Fitness since 2010 at Princeton Location and since 2013 New Brunswick location. I will close my comments on trainer by stating” if not for Tyler’ i would have left this gym location. Can’t share enough on how ‘good’ and ‘personable’ Tyler he is workiing for the good of his clients! Respectively submitted! Derrick N
Fantastic experience: In the past year I have lost 90 lbs, ran my first spartan race, ran my first half marathon, and am currently training towards my first marathon. That is in no small part to the staff at RWJ fitness and wellness, and my trainer, Tyler, in particular. His encouragement, guidance, and commitment to providing tailored workout plans have supported my fitness journey immeasurably and I could not be more grateful.
Fantastic experience: This gym is hands down one of the best I’ve ever been to. It’s incredibly spacious and has every machine you could possibly need — and not just one, but multiples of everything, so you’re never waiting around. The atmosphere really sets it apart. Everyone here is friendly, focused, and respectful — people genuinely just want to work out, improve, and help each other. The staff is equally impressive: welcoming, approachable, and always willing to help. A huge shoutout and strong recommendation for Tyler, my trainer. He is excellent at what he does and consistently goes above and beyond. Tyler pushes me to my limits while staying supportive and attentive, and I’ve seen real, noticeable results since working with him. He’s always available, takes the time to answer questions, explains the “why” behind the workouts, and truly goes the extra mile to make sure you’re progressing. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, motivating trainer who is genuinely invested in your success, Tyler is the one.

Fantastic experience: They offer an abundant of group fitness classes

Positive experience: I've been going to the gym for almost a year, and I love it!! The equipment is great, rarely breaks down, it's fairly clean, they offer great classes, and everyone is nice. It tends to get busy around 6pm, but they obviously can't really do anything about that. I'm giving it 4 starts though because the mens locker room tends to be a little messy at times. They do a decent job at cleaning up, but it's not the best to be honest. If I had to add one thing that would elevate this gym significantly, it would be to add a cold plunge. I feel like cold plunges are a "newer" thing that's gotten popular in the last couple years and it would be amazing if they install one here!! That's probably the thing that would make me keep this membership for life if they do get one.

Fantastic experience: We attend the gym for swimming lessons. We have had a great experience working with Emily. Our daughter was VERY hesitant at age 6 in the water but Emily was patient and now she has learned to swim independently. We are continuing our lessons so she can become an even stronger swimmer..and now our youngest, age 2, is also taking lessons with Emily. We definitely recommend this swimming lesson program. Great for children and adults who want to be more confident in the water.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to gym for 3+ years and had Tyler guide me throughout the process. I have definitely improved and hit my goals plus more with Tyler’s help. Gym is large , with free parking which is nice.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for a few years now. From the start, it has been a perfect fit for me. I immediately began with wonderful personal trainer, Arvin Vidal who I continue to use. Initially I was a bit nervous having had a serious bike accident 6 months prior, and was coming directly to the gym from RWJ physical therapy. Arvin made me feel at ease right away , and confident that this was the right place for me! From the start, Arvin has been knowledgeable, professional, enthusiastic, and dedicated. He has a passion for training, and always wants me to succeed! He tailors my program to what my needs are and is able to change things as needed. He gives me a variety of exercises so I never get bored. If I am having any difficulties , he will work with me repetitively until I feel confident and secure in what I’m doing. It is important to me to feel fit and strong, but Arvin also emphasizes health and long term mobility. I have been to several gyms over the years, but this is where I plan to stay! I have gotten to know many of the staff. They are all friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to lend a hand.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for almost a year now and can only say good things so far. The space is clean and bright, the staff is very friendly and I enjoy the diversity of the members (I.e. not everyone is a body builder in their 20s ). I have seen some negative reviews about the pricing. To be honest, I find it reasonable given the amenities and perks. Lastly, I highly recommend their private trainers. I’ve been working with Zachary Hagen for about 9 months now and it’s hard to imagine going back to working out alone. It’s not for everyone - I understand - but for those interested in learning more about form, nutrition and long-term sustainable routines, their trainers are the way to go.

Fantastic experience: This gym is immaculate! Love the pool classes especially aqua run with Elena Marie Love aqua Zumba with Daniel. These instructors give it their all ! I also love Forever Fit with Marcus. Functional movements and strength! I have been to many gyms in the past but this is my final gym ….its the BEST!

Cheryl never fails to be the most friendly and insightful staff member. I say insightful as she read me and was able to reassure me since I wasn't convinced the gym was for me. Fantastic experience: I was feeling extremely lazy before I signed up to RWJ Fitness & Wellness. My first day, everyone was so welcoming, it’s like a giant adult playground! All types of exercise machines, yoga, Pilates, dance, swimming and MORE classes, nice teachers, great personal trainers, AMAZING state of the art locker rooms, swimming pool, hot tub, showers and saunas. Complaints, where?!? Seriously this gym is the crème de la crème and you should def sign up if you’re looking to better your wellness routine, get into shape or just get your body moving!! RWJ hits different. Thanks for being apart of my health and fitness journey!!

Positive experience: Really nice gym, a little pricey but NB residents get a discount. For all the amenities and classes included, its definitely worth it. You can save more here rather than having a separate membership each for gym/cycle/pilates/fitness classes etc, plus access to a heated pool through the cold months. Its always clean, unlike other gyms ive been to. I regret waiting so long to sign up.

Negative experience: I scheduled a tour in advance and arrived on time, but unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. I waited in the lobby for nearly 30-40 minutes, and despite being in plain sight, the staff member responsible for giving me the tour was unengaged and didn't offer any assistance or acknowledgment. Given the lack of attention, I chose to leave. It's important to me that a gym provides not just facilities but also helpful, welcoming staff who can guide and support potential members. I can’t see myself joining a gym where the staff isn’t attentive or approachable.

Negative experience: The manager does absolutely nothing. I think his name is Luis. Might be the GM or one of the managers. He leaves early like everyday doesn’t return calls and stays in his office eating food 24/7. Can’t believe he’s still there. This place needs a lot of work. For it to have the “RWJ” brand while being so disorganized and unprofessional is very disappointing to say the least. There seems to be no established gym rules in place, the traditional gym rules you might notice at any other gym. Machines are broken and I almost suffered an injury after a machine fell on me. The place is dirty and dusty. There seems to be a certain “crowd” that comes in there favored by the manager (I’ll just leave it at that) I only joined because people from New Brunswick get a discount but they should honestly shut it down or fire management and get a new team who knows and understands health and fitness.
Chris, we are quite confused by your comment. We do not have a record of your membership in our system. Luis our general manager is known to be present at the center until 6 or 7 pm Monday through Friday. He is quick to reply to any member concerns. Negative experience: Gym membership terminated after 10 plus years of paying. I was told to leave the gym because of 1 failed payment due to waiting on new card by employee. Manager said that was wrong of her to say that. No1 at front desk offered me a new tag or to download mobile app. Luis the general manager himself didnt offer it to me when he checked me in. He also admitted he didnt . Multiple guys stay a few minutes after 10. Also admitted they do and something they are trying to resolve. Another gym goes lied to staff that she was using machine I was using when I only stepped away to change song on phone for less than 20 seconds in between my sets...girl replied she had been using when I clearly know she wasn't...she said she had 2 sets left which was also a lie...she proceeded to do 5 sets because like I said she never was using...So all lies and liars trying to make it seem like im a criminal or something after 10yrs of paying. I also told Luis to cancel my wife membership if that's the case. I woke up to 2 more months charged on wife account that should have been canceled. I called a week ago to resolve and was told Luis will call back. No call. No returned money. I need my money returned immediately before I call the police for theft. There is absolutely no reason my wife would attend if I cant go. Common sense and I specifically stated this. Why am I being asked again do I want her account canceled Why would my wife attend a gym that I was terminated at wrongfully. Return my money immediately!!!! After reading the reviews also Luis seems you have a serious problem with your front desk staff being rude and unengaging. Funny I see all these complaints with front desk and people getting no responses. All these front desk unenthusiastic, miserable and unengaging complaints. Also proves my point like I said not 1 member offered me a new tag or to download a mobile app....not 1...you yourself admitted you didnt offer me when you checked me in...everyone else was apologized too. I told you the front desk girl was rude and told me to leave gym over 1 missed payment even after I told her inpay for 2 accounts and my card was compromised over a $2000 fraud charge. I told her im waiting on new card and she said I have to leave. You admitted she was wrong and had a talk with her. Yet you sent me an email saying I was rude to your front desk. After she clearly was rude 1st and had no empathy over me waiting in new card. Everyone else was apologized to. I was terminated tho. You lied saying I stayed till 10:15 multiple times which is also a lie. From the reviews it seems your front desk is the problem. So my gym membership was terminated due to a rude front desk member. Your front desk never offered me a new tag neither did you which you admitted when we spoke face to face. You admitted multiple stay a bit past 10. The gym girl lied about machine. Why was my gym membership terminated?? I was told I was rude to front desk...I was told I stay past 10...I was told i have no tag...I was told the girl was using machine prior to me which was also a blatant lie. Everyone else was apologized to...I was terminated. After 10 yrs of paying thousands of dollars. Return my money for charging my wife account after I told you if im terminated than terminate her account also. Here we are and im still being charged being asked if I want to continue her account. No call back after a week. No money returned....oh let me guess that's my fault and im being rude? Oh let me guess its another incident that's my fault you took money after being told cancel both accounts. Oh it's my fault you haven't called me. CLEARLY LUIS YOUR NOT A GREAT EXAMPLE OF LEADERSHIP. WHEN ALL THESE COMPLAINTS I SEE IS ABOUT YOUR FRONT DESK STAFF WHO JUST SIT ON THEIR PHONES N ON INSTAGRAM LOOKING DOWN AND UNENGAGED with people like myself...you can tell you have a bunch of immature kids at the front who are too busy to focus on their jobs. I was never offered a new tag or told about a mobile check in by front desk or you which you admitted. You should be terminated by RWJ.
Hi Michael. We are very disappointed to see your Google review. While we always appreciate member feedback, there is much missing from your story. We have been very forthright with you since early March. You have a long history with the center, and it is not without incident. As you were told at the time, your membership was terminated due to repeated violations of gym policies, including multiple incidents involving inappropriate conduct toward staff, blatant disregard of our policies, and a verbal altercation with another member. These issues were documented and addressed with you directly on more than one occasion. It is never our practice to terminate memberships, as we value our members and we understand the importance to maintaining your health. We also know that once in a while people may be having a rough day. We can excuse that on rare occasions, but not as a continued pattern. It is unfair to our staff and to other members.
As a reminder, your membership was not terminated for a single missed payment. We certainly understand in this day and age how credit cards are compromised. The issue was the ongoing pattern of behavior that impacted the environment for others. As we explained in a previous email to you, many of our staff can vouch for asking you to download the app that would allow you to punch in from your phone and even update your form of payment. You not only refused to work with them, you were disrespectful and derogatory to receptionists that were just trying to do their job.
As for your wife’s account, cancellations must be confirmed by the account holder. Our general manager sent you an email and you failed to respond regarding your wife. Even with a response we would still need her confirmation. As a courtesy, we are reaching out to your wife directly to handle this matter. She is an adult and as such is the only person with authority to cancel.
We are committed to maintaining a respectful, welcoming space for all members, and that includes setting clear expectations for conduct. When you returned to the Center after you took a few years’ hiatus, we informed you that you could return as long as you respect our policies, including our check in policy and our hours of operation. Although you were quick to acquiesce, your actions failed to comply. We wish you the best moving forward.
Negative experience: I’ve been coming to this gym for a while now, and while I can say they’ve made some improvements recently, there’s still a lot that needs fixing. First off, they really need to add more mirrors around the gym. It helps people check their form and stay motivated, and right now it feels way too limited. Another big issue is the lack of family-friendly options. You’re only allowed to bring your family on Sundays, but what about the people who work weekends or stay-at-home parents who could use the gym as a healthy outlet with their kids? It makes no sense. And don’t even get me started on the childcare. The hours are super limited, and it’s frustrating because moms (and dads) should have the option to work out any day, not just when it fits the gym’s narrow childcare schedule. On top of that, prices keep going up while the service quality drops. The young guy at the front desk is consistently rude and unprofessional, and honestly, it makes the whole experience worse. It feels like this place is going downhill instead of getting better. They need to step it up… expand childcare hours, allow more family time, add mirrors, and train the front desk staff to actually treat members with respect. I really hope they turn it around!!!!!
Positive experience: Unengaging staff. Front desk, to the middle desk, to the daycare staff. Listless, no energy, "I hate to be at work" disposition. The best you'll get is a mumbled "gd morning..." with eye contact avoidance...staring into his/her phone as you walk in. Wake up!! Look people in the eye! Let's try this: "Good morning sir, have a great workout!" Set the tone for the user experience. I'd rather workout in a limited gym with engaging staff than a state of the art place with flop staff who don't care if you're coming or going.

Negative experience: Poorly managed. To my fault, I’d been traveling for lengths in March and April and had a balance due for those months since I hadn’t automated my payments. When I returned, I received a slew of texts with conflicting information. One stating that my balance had been sent to pre-collections. I responded to the message and didn’t get a response. I called the provided number and spoke with Lea, the team lead and she assured me that Zack, the manager would give me a phone call regarding my account. Shortly after, I received an alarming email titled “Urgent Notice” that stated my balance was at 60-days and was sent to collections. I’d just gotten off a call with two of their staff an hour before and both said it hadn’t gone to collections and would only at a 90-day mark. Right after, I received another text stating they were giving a final notice before terminating my membership and shortly after that another text that my membership had been terminated. Because there was so much conflicting information, I stopped by the gym to speak to the manager Zack. He was very dismissive and seemed annoyed. He said that the email was automated although it clearly wasn’t and that he didn’t know why I received a text saying my membership was terminated and said it was also probably automated but that my membership was still active. He said he was membership services and also in the billing department but gave a lot of I don’t knows and shrugs. Ultimately, I paid my balance and cancelled my membership. There seems to be a huge breakdown in communication internally and equally in how they’re communicating to members and don’t seem to care for retention.
Racquel, thank you for sharing your experience, as we never aim to make the member’s experience frustrating or confusing. We were not aware you were traveling, as we provide an opportunity to freeze your account if you are out of town for a month or more. It’s unfortunate that you did not take advantage of that privilege.
We’re sorry your conversation with Zach did not sufficiently clarify your situation. Since many of our members do not check all of the methods of communication, we use multiple outreach methods, including texts, emails, and phone calls. And yes, most are automated which clearly caused confusion rather than clarity in your case.
On another note, we know that Zach was not looking to be dismissive and we are sorry you felt that way. We have reviewed the situation with Luis our GM, and he is discussing with Zach how we could have better communicated to provide a more caring conversations with more clarity and professionalism.
In light of the misunderstanding, we would like to offer you two months of membership on us, for the two months you were traveling. We appreciate your feedback, and we would like to make this situation better. We can’t reverse time, but we can certainly give it back to you. Fantastic experience: All of the facilities are amazing and the staff are super nice! They also offer tons of classes but I haven’t taken any yet. Definitely worth the $40/$50 a month! I will say though men beware, the locker room nudity is 10x worse here than any other gym I’ve been to. They actually did warn me about this when I was signing up but it’s truly something LOL. Not sure if there’s anything the gym can do about that but it’d be nice. Only other complaint I have is that the elevators from the parking deck are kinda iffy, you have to mash the buttons like 5 times for them to work. All in all though amazing gym!

Negative experience: It was good a few years back , now is over crowded with people that pay $35 hanging out , i got charged $80 monthly and so was my wife($150 a month for both) , i cancelled us both today Jan 3rd and still they make me pay the till the end of February.

Negative experience: I am disappointed in the swimming lessons that I had signed my daughter up for. I paid for a 16 class package. Although the instructor okay, I felt that it wasn't any insight on her progression. The women's bathroom smells like mildew. The carpet in there needs to changed and don't feel comfortable changing my daughter there. Moreover, it was extremely disorganized. Priyanka was hard to reach and her office was so messy. The registration paperwork was not even filled out until her last class. She said there was a 2 year wait period for an evening or weekend class which just sounds absurd to me. I decided it was no longer a fit for us and ended our classes. I felt it was a waste of time and money and wish I could get a refund. I would not recommend it and will not be returning.

Negative experience: People slamming weights and grunting many times that I've been there. Complained and they do nothing it's still happening. Bathrooms/locker rooms need a remodel badly. Staff members filming themselves, and having members film them, despite it being against policy.

Negative experience: I had an experience where i was charged for service never received and it was a big headache to get it back because it seemed like nobody really cared about fixing the issue and everyone would say they would find a solution and get back to me but never would. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and i feel like management could do a better job in taking care of their members. I do have to give a big thank you to Linda, their regional manager as she quickly fixed the issue the second she was notified and actually made me feel like i was being heard and not brushed off. Negative experience: I was sexually assaulted at this gym by a staff member, November 2023. The gym did nothing about it, and the man still was working there. Went to the police and all soon as it happened and went to the gym the following day to report it to them all they said was I’m sorry if that did happen, and gave me a partial refund for that month because I canceled my gym membership clearly soon as it happened. That’s the only gym in the city so now I can’t go to the gym nor do I feel even comfortable being downtown in that area. Ladies beware they do not Properly Vet, the people they hire!!!

Fantastic experience: I joined here recently and would say it's a pretty nice place. I'm actually not super sure why there are so many negative reviews. They do not make it super apperant, but if you live in NB or work at one of the hospitals the membership is 55 a month. For reference a retrofitness membership for all locations is around 35. I think the increased price is pretty justified given the gym itself. The machines are nice and numerous. They have a combination of hammerstrength, technogym, and kaiser pneumatic machines. Alot of the machines feel good and the pneumatic machines are unique and can provide an exercise stimulus unlike other machines or free weights if used properly. The place is also pretty specious and clean. I so far haven't encountered a ton of waiting and crowding. They also have other amenities such as stretching cages, pools, sauna and steam room, and nice locker room. Maybe if you didn't get the reduced price you'd be more critical, but I'd have to imagine many of these complaints are just vexed or spoiled people. Edit: I will say one clear con is the lack of being able to bring guests. I know some people who go to lifetime and even at what markets itself as a luxury gym, you can bring people atleast once a month

Fantastic experience: I love RWJ! This past year I trained with Abby and can’t recommend her enough. After doing an initial physical assessment, she tailored weekly workouts based on my needs, taught me how to lift weights with proper form and helped me get back into shape/tone up over a six month period. Negative experience: 5 years or more the leg press has been facing up directly up at the sun the entire first half of the day making in next to impossible to use, as its mostly unoccupied until sunset. Instead of relocating in when they shifted equipment around or tinting the glass, they added a 2nd one right next to it blasting your face into the sun again. Probably some of the least impressive logic ive ever seen. The cable attchements and other moving equipment are never lubricanted so they bind and squeak. With all the employees here it doesnt take much to spray up the equipment once a month really. The prices keep going up, no features have been added, there is zero guest passes. They should really incorporate like 5 or 10 passes a year for free but instead they charge your guest $20 per visit. Absolutely crazy for the cost of your membership. On the positive the pools are open 95% of the time but over all loosing the interest in this place, with LA and 24hr opening near by i might consider changing. Update - Did cancel membership, spoke with the sales manager, absolutely zero retention effort, there is also an influx of free memberships for young school kids so an $80-100 memebrship and it feels like Retro fitness at times. Also the equipment still faces the sun

We are addressing this, and you should see the situation improve in short order. We are also pleased to let you know we recently changed our maintenance tech. You will see positive changes in the function of the equipment. This past December, we sent all of our members guest passes to share with your family and friends. You should have received them in your email. Please come see me so I can ensure that we have the proper email on file for you, and I will be happy to share a couple of guest passes with you.
We hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy some of our newer pieces that have been added to the floor in December, such as the glute drive, hack squat, and the Power Plate. We are always looking to improve. And, of course, do not hesitate to tap one of our trainers for a re-evaluation. Negative experience: Overall the gym facilities are very accommodating, however the most recent customer service experience I had with the front desk staff was very disappointing. I had a concern with my billing prior to my renewal on 11/15/23 (with a credit card transaction process date of 11/13/23) - I called the front desk staff and was communicated that a manager would reach out and leave a voicemail - the staff mentioned definitive times that I should be reached out by - but I did not receive any callbacks or voicemails in regards to this matter. I learned that the manager that could handle this was out sick - however the front desk staff did not communicate that there may be a delay in response at all due to the manager being out sick - so I called on 11/09, 11/10, 11/14, and today 11/16 to get any update. The manager returned to the office today and initiated the process for my billing concern, which was fine, my billing issue was handled. However, my concern is the communication from the front desk staff. I just wish they could have set the expectation for a delay more clearly. This was not a time sensitive issue, but receiving no updates or any clear communication made me need to call these multiple days to request another follow up. Even if a front desk staff member called and left a voicemail stating that the manager was not able to follow up that day, that would have been more than sufficient. This is my last month of membership, so this will not be an ongoing concern, but thank you for reading my feedback.

Negative experience: If you’re serious about your workout goals stay away from this gym. The machines are old, always needing repair, a lot of dust in the air and a terrible gym culture. They have tons of treadmills if that’s your thing go here. Nothing works. There only 1 smith machine which is wobbly and any day now there should be an injury. Another major thing is gym etiquette is terrible. They sign up the kids in the area who have no idea what they’re doing and will crowd around multiple machines which will have you waiting for over an hour. They sit on their phone pointing and laughing about social media while you wait for a machine, probably the only machine in the facility. You’ll be lucky you dont get unknowingly filmed and end up on social media being laughed at. Happened to a friend who wants to sue. You’ll never get a full and complete workout at this gym. I don’t know much about their pool but I never wanted to even try it after members telling me to avoid it at all costs. The nicest thing I think is their cycling room but you can only go there during classes. The wannabe’s who go here aren’t considerate of other ppl’s time, hog the machines, break the machines, never put the weights back, never clean the bench after (I got a fungus on my skin & had to get prescribed Ketaconazole to get rid of it) overall not a good gym. You’re probably better off going to a Planet Fitness or something which tends to have days where the gym is empty. Managers at this place act like know it alls, they don’t understand proper gym etiquette and lack the ability to run a fitness facility that promotes a healthy gym culture. They seem to only care about signing more and more ppl up. The trainers are beyond pretentious. Obviously to get you to sign up for training. Avoid it. They are kid friendly which is great for busy treadmill moms who have the kids at the gym with them. But seriously is it worth having your child breathing in all that dust? Buy a treadmill and do it at home. This place is gross. Finally, at the end of the night they do the most annoying thing. 1 hour before the gym closes the announcer will come on the PA system every 5 minutes just to tell you it’s about to close. If there’s 10 minutes to closing they’ll do it every minute. Kills the vibe. Kills your concentration and makes it harder to finish up before they close. They just try to rush you out. This place is run mostly by kids who can’t wait to get off work and go wander around Rutgers. If you’re a woman and you’re in the ladies locker room you just might have a male employee come into the locker room to rush you out. Happens all the time and I think that’s actually a shame. It’s constant rap music blaring loud on their speakers or they play drake alllllllll day nothing else. I’ve spoken to managers they don’t care. If you see them in the reviews section they’re only trying to save their reputation.

Fantastic experience: My experience at the gym has been great. The machines are always clean and the gym is never packed. The staff is also very friendly and willing to help you out whenever you need it. The facility in general is a 10/10 for me. The classes are also great. Marcus is my favorite yoga teacher. The only thing I would like is that there would be more yoga evening classes as I work all day and come to the gym at around 6 pm.

Fantastic experience: I'm an early gym goer and everytime i come to the gym the front desk staff is so positive and energetic. Something greatly needed at 7/8 am. Cheyenne, Gabriel, and Caleb are amazing. I usually don't want to be at the gym so hearing their positive welcome and messages make it worthwhile.

Negative experience: I have been a member for over 10 years. spent over $10K at this place for my family and myself. When trying to cancel membership, they are like... Policy this Policy that, making us pay for extra month. I get it; it is in the policy. I get it; It is business. Good luck.

As we tell every member upon joining, if you wish to cancel your membership, there will be one final billing, with full use of the facility during that time period. As stated on the contract, you need only provide a certified letter or come to the center to cancel in person. If you move from the area and wish to have the final billing waived, simply show us documentation that you moved more than 25 miles from the Center. According to our notes, the two other family members on your account were termed long ago. If you have documentation that you are moving from the area please provide us it and we can waive your final billing. We hope this helps!

Negative experience: I put both of my kids here for summer swim camp and was honestly so happy at how quickly my kids learned to swim in such a short amount of time. During the kids last session, there was heavy rain and thunderstorm, so they couldn't go in the pool. The instructor decided to have the kids do a work-out outside the pool where the floor was wet and slippery. While doing wall sits, I saw a kid fall and hit his head and before I knew it, my daughter slipped and hit her head against the wall behind her and fell to the ground hitting her head again. She is okay, her head still hurts. But I can't help thinking how this could have turned out to be a really bad case. I told the swim instructor that maybe she should stop the exercises as I saw another kids slip and fall as well, and she didn't listen to me and went on with the exercises. They had someone come and write down the incident and had me sign paper-work. They pretty much told me the paperwork is for my refusal to call an ambulance. But they never even asked me if I wanted to call an ambulance or not. I have so much mom guilt even though non of it was my fault and this was a complete negligence from the swim instructor and rwj fitness aquatics. I am very disappointed. I don't even know what I signed, and almost feel as though I should sue them. As a matter of fact, the floors are always so slippery - even going in and out of the girls and boys locker rooms. They should at least better manage it before some one seriously hurts themselves. I have been to other swim facilities and the floors are not as slippery or as bad. I was going to sign my kids up for private lessons, but honestly this experience has left me feeling maybe this place is not safe for my kids. Life guards are barely paying attention, and the whole place seems to be chaotic. If you or your kids go there, be careful and don't slip!
Shreya, we are so sorry to hear about your negative experience. We pride ourselves on running strong learn to swim programs, and most without any incident. We do not take the incident lightly. We have investigated and learned that the coach was trying to keep the children busy when they could not be in the water due to an electrical storm. Although the intentions were good, the exercise resulted in injury and must be re-evaluated. We have addressed the matter and there will be no further similar exercises on the pool deck moving forward. Most important, we did learn when we made the follow up call to you that your daughter is ok. We also had our general manager reach out to check on your child, as well as to make sure we received all of the facts so this never occurs again.
Our commitment to safety is strong. Please know that we have put procedures in place to avoid anything like this happening again. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the situation. We hope your children find continued success and only good experiences with any future lessons at the Center.
Fantastic experience: Robert Wood Johnson Fitness center is hands down the best gym I have ever went to. The facility is clean and the staff members are always friendly and accommodating. Cheryl, who introduced me to the gym was so helpful and made me feel right at home. Also, my personal trainer Arvin has been so helpful in helping towards my personal goals (down 42 lbs in 70 days!) with his knowledge at the gym and his encouraging words! I would highly recommend using him as a personal trainer!

Negative experience: Worst Gym in New Jersey. Great for older crowd. Not for someone who wants a active and lively workout. Dark and dismal. Wouldn’t recommend. Two thumbs down.

Negative experience: Unfortunately my experience in this place been bad I don’t recommend and if you decide to come use lockers for everything never use the hangers. Never left anything visible not even you keys is ashamed to go to a place and need to worry about your belongings I went to work out and less than one hour my stuff disappeared and the sad part was the camaras can’t catch nobody.
Reyes, we are sorry to hear that your jacket was taken by another member/guest. Sometimes people grab a jacket that looks like theirs and it is ultimately returned. Unfortunately not everyone has best intentions, so we always tell our members to be sure to secure their personal belongings in a locked locker, locks are available at the Front Desk for purchase. We understand that our General Manager did stay late that evening in an effort to assist you. We continue to keep an eye out for anyone returning a men’s black jacket with keys. Negative experience: Sales manager Cheryl Wilson is a complete nut show , unprofessional . Came at me and my 4 year old son screaming and clapping her hands and yelling in me and my sons face. All because there was miscommunication. 1st day at the gym and last day . My son did not even want to go near her in her office as I was cancelling my membership . I have already a generous discount for being a RWJ employee, but I wouldn’t go back there if my membership was down to a $0.00 .

Negative experience: Pros: good maintenance, clean, nice location Cons: expensive and not the service matching with the price . The reason I canceled the membership is because the swimming pools can be occupied by some swim team very often . Being interested in swimming, i called for information about the class. As always, the staff said someone will call me back . Guess what , they never called me back . it is extremely difficult to get any type of information from any staff there , like always . I don’t even wanna get into details about certain front desk staff I interacted with , who looks totally miserable as they has to work here. I don’t understand why they charge so much ? For the sales person who takes forever to reply? For the rent? Or the building? You pay half of the price at any type of YMCA and you don’t need to deal with this type of confidential staff. Please avoid unless someone else pay the membership for you.

Negative experience: It was a great space until they started cutting on services , maintenance and even hours. We signed up for something that is not there anymore. The management does not care, the showers are cold, the classes are reduced, but the fees have not changed. We had weeks of a cold hot tab !! Just look for something else
Hi Zakia. I am sorry you had to write, and I understand you spoke to our General Manager. Your comments are well taken, and he certainly took them to heart to improve our member experience.
Negative experience: Few equipment for a huge gym and poor conditions. Only one cable tower, only one smith machine. The equipment is in Poor conditions. Ropes, handles wore out and no one replace them, dirty all the time is like they don’t vacuum at all. Members have no consideration for others and most of them never clean the equipment after using it. No one should clean the sweat of others to use the equipment. Also some guys are really loud that even with cancelation noise on the best headphones won’t work, you can still hear them lol Last No water filler station.Water station is never clean. They have the old ones where u have to press and find and angle to try to fill your sport bottle, even $10 gym can afford a water bottle filler with a sensor. They have so much to improve for the membership price for members who doesn’t live in New Brunswick. When you open a membership you are told that’s the best gym, that’s why you pay more than other gyms. Because they have the best equipment and you get what you paid for but they can improve so much. It seems no one is in charge or no one cares enough to deliver a great experience when you are part of the gym.
Alex, we are so sorry to disappoint. We do appreciate your feedback as these are all areas we have been addressing. We received new equipment fairly recently, including a third flat Olympic bench press, a third power rack, new octane seated and lateral ellipticals, new AMTS, a second leg press, ten new Precor treadmills, and a curve treadmill! In addition, we have ordered new handles and ropes and we have a water filling station expected for installation within the next week. We hope this has helped to enhance your member experience.
