ONYX Health Club 24/7 Northfield

Negative experience: Received this email Saturday September 20, 2025 stating the gym will be open until the end of the month. My husband and I go less than 24 hours after receiving the below email so Sunday September 21,2025 and the doors have already been locked for good. This right here sums up our experience with onyx. The owners only took pride in some of their locations and obviously neglected this one. The heat never worked, the gym was never clean and there was never a worker in sight. Not to mention you could never use the extra amenities because NO ONE WAS EVER THERE! Worst gym ever

Negative experience: Not a very good gym.. They never had staff, never cleaned or emptied garbage cans, the heat never worked properly.. they basically don’t do anything.. however they will take your money and tell you just go to one of our other convenient locations.. which aren’t convenient for everyone. Lesson learned never again onyx

Negative experience: I have been trying to cancel this membership since April. 21 calls to get ahold of someone. I have followed through on instructions with an email. I at some point in this got a customer service number that gave me another email. ( neither of which is what my husband had to do to cancel his last fall) AND I AM STILL BEING CHARGED. I threw my key card out after the last email or this would be camp out and start causing a scene situation. Don't join this gym, you'll need a lawyer a cancel it. I remember fall of 2017 when some one sat out side twinsburg with signs saying onyx took my money... and I get it now. They were on to something. If that person is reading this, do you still have your signs?

Fantastic experience: I’ve been at Onyx Northfield in November ‘24. At the time I noticed some things needed to be fixed, deep cleaned, and the lavatories were out of soap and paper towels. Since Jenn became GM 3 weeks ago, she prioritized the cleaning and basic lavatory needs quickly and is making great progress on getting things repaired. Jenn and Zane have been on the ball and making a positive impact on the overall atmosphere of the gym. Thank you for your hard work!

Negative experience: I just realized how misleading the pictures on the website are the northfield location is missing 50% of the listed amenities. I've had a membership here for over a year, and it's gone down hill since Sage stopped working there.

Fantastic experience: Jen took positive control the Northfield Onyx her very first day, the improvement was immediately noticeable. The machines were cleaned and serviced, the Lav facilities were cleaned. Every facet of that Gym got better Immediately. Jen's Interaction with members was positive, informative and understanding. I could go on and be long winded, the only thing I need to say is Join Onyx Northfield.

Negative experience: Place is a mess. Machines that do not work. 6 treadmills have down for weeks. Floors never cleaned trash littered though out. Can’t even get a call or email back to cancel my membership.

Negative experience: Beware of this gym... they messed up my payment and I tried to get it fixed but the gym was never staffed.. I tried to call and cancle my membership multiple times and they never returned my calls.. instead they sent me to collections.

Fantastic experience: I’m new to this gym, I can’t remember her name but she was so helpful in helping me figure out what certain machines was used for. I love how she always check in on people around the gym, I always see her cleaning and organizing while asking people for their advice on if they want to see anything different. We’ve spoke briefly and she was such a sweet soul 10/10 recommend!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Called to set up a tour, lady said she’d be there and she wasn’t. Was just trying to sign up bc we live right next door. Reached out and we’re told to go to another location, not sure what kind of marketing that is. Doesn’t really make sense to drive to twinsburg when there’s a location right here in Northfield. Just terrible business management guess I’ll take our money elsewhere.

Negative experience: The only reason I go is because it’s 24/7 Access. Equipment is always broke, it’s always dirty in locker room and the don’t even have a shower. For the price you come up short.

Negative experience: I used to enjoy this gym when I was in town for holidays or other occasions, but that is no longer the case. When I requested a weekly membership, I was quoted $50 for the week, which is outrageous. The GM’s tone became aggressive when I told him $50 was a bit out of my price range.

Fantastic experience: Great, clean club and never crowded!

Positive experience: They moved the cardio equipment away from the window, but at least the place is empty now. It's like a private gym

Negative experience: Maybe have someone be there to unlock the door. I was ready to sign up. Or answer the doorbell. Am trying to help you.

Fantastic experience: Seth was super helpful and friendly from day 1 when i inquired about a membership with onyx northfield . he is very professional , knowledgeable , and motivating . 100% recommend him and Onyx for your fitness journey !

Fantastic experience: Signed up at Onyx a couple months ago and it was One of the best decisions I have made. The environment is great and the people are great! I have been doing training sessions with Seth since November and can honestly say I haven’t had anyone motivate me to work out and take care of my health more!!

Fantastic experience: Hands down, the best gym I’ve ever been to. I’m so glad that I got a membership here. I have been working out here for almost a year & I have not regretted it once. The staff is nice, the gym is clean, the culture and environment is friendly & nice, and Seth (personal trainer & gm) is awesome! He is friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, & helps out all of his clients with their goals & ambitions. If you are someone who wants to start their workout journey & you’re not sure where to start or what to do, definitely hit up Seth. He will help you out & get you right!

Negative experience: Called about 2 years ago to cancel my membership and they still haven’t cancelled. Nothing but scam artists here. Won’t even answer the phone when I call anymore

Fantastic experience: I recently signed up for a gym membership and also personal training with Seth. This has easily been the best decision I’ve ever made! Seth is an amazing trainer who truly wants to see you succeed and improve your health. Not only that, but he shows through his actions and how he treats everyone that he genuinely cares about everyone who steps foot in the gym. If you’re looking for a new gym or for somewhere to start working out, the Northfield location is definitely it! I highly recommend it!

Negative experience: In September I signed up for a membership under the assumption this club was open as the website and owner said it was. Went to the facility and it was closed and only scheduled to open for 1 month which I was okay with waiting. However the opening was delayed and ended up opening 3 months later in January. I requested that I get a refund for a YEAR long subscription seeing that I couldn’t go to the gym that I I initially signed up for however they refused and said that I can go to a gym that was 20 minutes away. Gym and gym owners are terrible, avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Words cannot express gratitude to Seth! Such a good man, helpful, positive and willing to assist on your own journey. We need more people like him !!!

Negative experience: Went to go sign up waited 30min no one helped me. Even tried calling line was dead no answer.

Fantastic experience: I love Nicole! She really does care about her clients. The workouts are always fulfilling and she’s such a great motivator as well. Nicole is not afraid to do the workout with me, which i love! If you’re looking for a sign to get to the gym. This is it!

Negative experience: Yeah… never again they confused my payments and billed my friend twice, the front desk said you could cancel any time over the phone yet you can only cancel after 10 months and you have to go to a website which you most likely won’t have an account on… horrible experience for my first gym

Negative experience: Scam. They lie about contracts and pricing. They charge you randomly for gym maintenance. Terrible gym, over priced scam. They will steal money from your account and they don’t even tell you. I signed up for a monthly membership but they lied and signed me up for a year long membership and started charging my account. Do not trust these people

Negative experience: NORTHFIELD REMODEL UPDATE: Same as before, only no more classes or good vibe, a weird set up inside with TONS of wasted space for people to chill (no one does) instead of a place that is larger and more spread out and comfortable. Signs and doors are sitting....with projects incomplete still after a 6 month remodel! JS

Fantastic experience: Great equipment. Gym recently closed and they began a soft opening with a grand reopening scheduled for February 6th. A lot of great things happening and 100% a place to go check out.

Fantastic experience: This location was conveniently located near my job, and a staff member had brought in some free 3 day passes. So I went the following day and was greeted by their maintenance guy who was very friendly and knowledgeable to the business and even walked me through all the equipment and the pricing . They are currently remodeling but despite that fact I was allowed to work out. When I returned on a following day I was greeted by the GM there who also was friendly and knowledgeable and was interested about myself and my goals for when I was there at the gym. I would highly recommend.. excellent customer service and very friendly staff. Alot of variety of equipment and even coaching sessions.

Negative experience: This gym has been closed since mid summer for “upgrades” and when I walked in here the second day of re opening I’ll just say it was a disappointment… the roof is LEAKING, equipment is broken and it’s not even finished yet. When I think of upgrades on a gym especially with it being closed for so long I think of repairing the roof that needed to be done, cleaning up the place and new equipment. NOPE. They knocked down a couple walls, slapped more tvs on the walls and put down new flooring. Big. Whoop. They should really lower the membership cost at this rate because this isn’t fair or worth it anymore.

Negative experience: Shut down for repairs since July. No indication online. I walked out of my way for this gym while I was in town working. Update!!

Negative experience: The gym was supposed to be closed for 2 months for updates. It's now been nearly and they have not reopened. Waste of money.

Negative experience: The gym was supposed to be shutdown for repairs from 7/1/22 and it was supposed to reopen on 9/1/22. The Facebook page said it was open and I drove up on September 3rd to workout. The gym was closed!!!!! The original sign that was posted by Brandon, the gym manager, was still on the door as being temporarily closed. On top of that they had 2 past due notices for electric bills that hadn't been paid for 1500.00 dollars!!! I didn't receive one email about them not reopening. The owner clearly is unprofessional and irresponsible to allow this to happen and to NOT PROPERLY INFORM the Northfield gym members!!!! Learn how to properly communicate with your customers because they are the ones who keep you in business!!!!!!! Extremely aggravated and disgusted regarding this entire matter.

Fantastic experience: The trainers are great!!! They helped me learn great form and take my fitness journey to the next level. They sincerely care about there members and have great benefits and promotions. I wouldn’t go to any other gym.

Fantastic experience: I came here when it originally opened around 2016 and 2017 for a trial. Now I just came back today with my younger brother and I will tell you all this, get a membership. It’s more than worth the money and the drive. I have a 40min drive and I won’t mind it just because it’s worth it. I believe in an amazing future for onyx and the owner and employees here. It’s “bada**” and has amazing people. Trust me, I’ve tried dozens of gyms in the past 5 years.

Fantastic experience: There are a few gyms around that are clean and have everything you need, but here they have Sydny Boose. This amazing women has not only inspired me to live a truly healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally, butvto walk through life confidently and with the knowledge that I can do anything I put my kind to! In a little over 4 months she has helped me lose 45 lbs and be stronger than I've ever been. She is the X factor you didn't know you needed and I promise if you join you will not regret it!!!

Fantastic experience: I feel like this is the gym that saved my life. The staff really care about you. I attended a class for the first time today, and was welcomed with open arms. The routines were modified for all fitness levels. Thank you again for putting me on the right path!
