Negative experience: I moved to Ann Arbor at the beginning of the year so I decided to cancel my membership at this location as it wouldn’t make sense for me to drive almost 40 min to Canton. I reached out to TOM to let him know that I would be canceling my membership, he said that all I had to do would be to return the key card and after 30 days it would be canceled, and so I did exactly that, I reached out to him to let him know that I returned the key and even thanked him. Well…. Come to find out 6 months later going through my bank statements that his been charging me for the past 6 MONTHS after my membership was supposedly cancelled. When I reached out to him all I got was: “I’ll look into it”. I mean NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY for HIS mistake? That’s assuming of course that he didn’t charge me for 6 months just to rob me. Anyway, after nearly a month of not hearing from him I got concerned that I might get charged again so I decided to reach out again only to get a text saying I wouldn’t get charged anymore. When I asked about the $240 for the 6 months I was charged I simply got ignored as if it was pennies. It is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING the way this man runs his business and takes advantage of people, portraying himself as a good person who helps the community. The owner TOM HIDES and takes NO ACCOUNTABILITY for his mistakes showing his true character. Do not waste your time or money on a business that is run by a person that shows 0 care for the very people that feeds him and his family.
Having owned Snap for 11 years now, i have handled dozens of members who move and obviously they are handled with the process we have in place. I see and interact with members everyday, sitting at the desk as you walk in, Mon - Fri 12 to 5 except being away for couple months for spinal surgery.
I have no reason to hide as it would be hard to sign up members daily if your hiding. The issue is that this member had 2 memberships in the system. I deleted the membership as was requested. Finally, the comment in regards to not caring about money he paid, that of course is a judgement that he chose to make, certainly not true. To sum up this concern, i have two statements that are important to add. 1st is the email that was used to sign up came back undeliverable. Second, 71% of members who leave Snap return. If this concern was the normal, who would return, obviously it is not. I do sincerely apologize for this mistake and stand willing to always make good on a mistake. I value every member, that is why we are still here
Fantastic experience: 5 Stars – Outstanding Gym and Even Better Service! Snap Fitness is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been a part of! The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything I need — from top-tier machines to a comfortable, welcoming environment. It’s the perfect place for anyone serious about their fitness goals, whether you’re just starting out or have been at it for years. But what really made my experience stand out was the amazing customer service — especially from Tom. He went above and beyond by hooking me up with a Prime Fitness pass I got through Walmart, and he did it incredibly fast. I was honestly impressed with how quickly he responded and got everything set up. It made the whole process stress-free and smooth, and I felt genuinely taken care of from the start. The 24/7 access is super convenient, and the gym never feels overcrowded. Everyone here is respectful, focused, and creates a great atmosphere to work out in. You can tell the staff truly cares about the members and the community. Huge thanks to Tom and the whole Snap Fitness team for making this place feel like more than just a gym — it’s a second home. Negative experience: The gym is clean most days. If youre lucky theres towels left for the late night people to use. Most of the machines in this facility are broken, or dont function at all. Too many machines crammed into too little space.. dont know how its still open♂️
Unfortunately, this review is fake. This person is not a member of our facility. I knew they couldn`t be because what they have stated is false. This usually happens when a competitor wants to degrade us. We have a large membership base that would totally disagree with this fake post.
Positive experience: I wanted to join a gym, so I visited three days in a row during the posted staffed hours, and no one was there. I also called a couple of times (no answer and no way to leave a voicemail), requested a tour and a free trial, and never heard back from anyone. It's usually pretty easy to join a gym, so I was surprised this one was so difficult to join. I guess I'll drive a little further to a gym that I can successfully join.
The issue involves some medical procedures that had taken a change for the worse and had to be dealt with immediately. We apologize that this caused an inconvenience to you. We are back on schedule now.
Fantastic experience: I loved going to this gym. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. Sadly I had to cancel and it took a long time to get someone to do that for me. I thought the matter was settled but to my surprise I see a charge for 37 dollars o December 2nd! Very disappointed. Edit - thank you Tom for your quick resolution of my issue!
That has been caught and has been reversed. I advised corporate of this also. Should see refund in couple days. Appreciate the heads up and the nice compliments.
Negative experience: This is unbelievable this guy is a scammer. Yet again in charge after countless times I’ve spoken to this guy about my member being canceled months ago . HE IS A SCAMMER , anyone that has canceled their account check your account. His chagring you . Will not return my calls or my money . I’m a broke Graudate student .

Having been here 11 years, having 78% of members who stay or return speaks for itself. This member has been cancelled and any charges due have been initiated. Our desire is to insure each member is taken care of, to purposely “scam” a member is not part of our values.

Negative experience: This is ridiculous. I’ve called a million times to try and cancel my membership. He told me he cancelled it and I received a charge on my card two months later randomly. I called back and he claims to not remember the conversation and asked why I now called when I’ve been trying to get a hold for the last month and was told I’d receive a call back and finally after calling a million times I finally got answered. I was told I’d be receiving a refund for the charge made. Not even a week later I received ANOTHER charge. Unprofessional. I now see the countless reviews of people going through the same thing.
We offer free trials to our members. We never ask for payment info for a trial. Payment info is only required upon a decision of a person to become a member
Negative experience: This doesn’t even deserve a star, I was trying to talk to the owner about working at snap. Utilizing my sports management skills but he was so stand-off-ish and rude. I don’t recommend giving your money to this guy
This same person tried this a while back. I never had any conversation with him at all. This is an effort to hurt Snap by posting a review that is fake.
Positive experience: Post update: I used snap fitness for almost two years. What I liked about facility was it was not crowded, there was always cleaning supplies and the equipment were in good conditions in general. It’s a relatively small gym but works for people who want to do a quick workout without having alot of people around them. After canceling my subscription I noticed I was still being charged and after leaving a review here Mr Tom, the owner, quickly followed up and resolved the matter by checking with their corporate office and sending me confirmation of cancellation. I appreciate his quick response and I hope this will not be an issue in the future.
Hi Ali, I first of all apologize that this error took place. I did cancel your membership as requested and sent it to corporate billing to cancel. I am immediately refunding that charge back plus $10 extra for the extra time you took. Next month will be 10 years that I have owned Snap. 72% of members return to us after a move back or a disappointment at another gym. Please receive my apologies and consider it to be a mistake at the corporate level. After 10 years, obviously I am not here to be dishonest. Appreciate the time you spent with us.
Fantastic experience: I've been a member for 6+months. The owner takes pride in keeping the equipment in proper condition and also keeping the gym clean. He also continues to make small improvements and upgrades. The monthly fee is more than planet fitness, but I feel its worth it for the better selection of weights, equipment, etc but also due to convenience - close parking and quick/easy check in.

Fantastic experience: After cancelling my membership, due to moving out of town for college, I realized I was still being charged months later. I completed my degree and moved back into town, and requested a new membership with a reduced fee since I had already been paying but had no access. Tom was kind enough to give me a full six months for FREE just for my troubles. Thank you to Tom, and the snap fitness team for helping me out and being so understanding, great experience all around!

Negative experience: Will not recommend anyone to this gym. My wife couldn’t even walk in to get a membership with rude customers and staff closing her out because of a 12-5pm members only rule. If they would have took the time to talk to her she would be a member right now but this is not a gym community I would want her apart of. Do better

Fantastic experience: Hidden gem. Ive been to many gyms over 18yrs of consistent lifting & by far this is one of the best gyms. It is clean & has everything needed for a great lift or cardio workout. This is a REAL gym for ppl that want to workout seriously without all the fluff of mainstream gyms which try to upsell you into useless classes....etc. I would rate it a 6 star if i could.

Fantastic experience: Very clean facility! Most patrons follow the rules and change out of their street shoes when using the gym. There are enough machines and weights to accommodate most users. 24/7 access is great. I would definitely recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym. Great facilities, everything you need to meet any fitness goal. I’m there super early, so the 24 hour access is ideal. I rarely see anyone, except the early morning go-hards, but everyone is super respectful. They he owner is dedicated to creating the best experience for the patrons. Depends what you’re about, if you are enjoy a space where you are punished for any effort - the no judgement zone of PF - then maybe this isn’t your gym. If you are a self motivated person and want a facility where you can achieve your goals, this is likely your spot. 100% recommend over any of the other local gyms, especially the “no judgement” zone.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Great owner! Great equipment. The variety of equipment is surprisingly vast for the size of the gym. The owner is always looking to improve the gym as well. It almost always has fresh towels to clean the equipment as well as a surplus of cleaning spray to keep everything nice and sanitary. The sauna and red light sauna are great as well. Not to mention a good atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Great facility. They have everything you need, treadmills, cardio, and even name brand strength training equipment and barbells. Owner is friendly, helpful and available to help You with any issues. Also have a quality personal training staff. 24/7 facility access. Not really much of anything to complain about.

Negative experience: I wish i read reviews before signing up for membership at this gym. I moved so i decided to cancel my membership. TOM-owner of snapfitness told me that I still have to pay for 1 more month since he has a policy of giving 30 days notice. I said fine but don't charge me after April 2023 since I don't want to getting charge again and again. I got charged again on my credit card in May 2023. I contacted TOM (OWNER OF SNAPFITNESS-CANTON) and told him that he needs to remove that charge from my card. He said that he will take care of it. Now in June 14TH 2023, yesterday, I was charged again from SNAPFITNESS CANTON again for membership!!!!!! I contacted him and got no reply. I am so done with this dishonestly and fraud! AVOID THIS GYM IF YOU CAN! THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOU EVEN AFTER U CANCEL UR MEMBERSHIP! #AVOID #SCAM i posted above message last month and again today i was charged again!!! Im reporting this scam now!
Every person who signs up is told we have no contracts but a 30 day cancellation notice, very reasonable. Because I believe in long term business, I will refund this member. Been here.almost 10 years. Plan on many more.
Fantastic experience: I have joined SNAP Fitness at this location many years ago (perhaps 2008-9). This place is so good, clean, neat, plenty of spray bottle to clean equipment after use, washed cloth napkins, clean bathrooms and showers, etc. Exercise equipment are kept in great condition and easy to use. I travel and no fitness gyms could come even close. Now I have moved to Florida and has huge club house with gym (lot bigger), various rooms for classes ( yoga, zumba, pickel ball, etc.). No comparison to SNAP Fitness of Canton. Whenever I am visiting I come here in morning. I am so glad I had joined this gym. Tom Pawlak takes extreme care of this facility including equipment. Fantastic experience: Had to travel from Tennesse to Michigan. My husband doesn't like to miss his workout. Found this wonderful gym online. He went over there to see the place and was impressed. Dave gave him a pass to come and use the facilities. Needless to say, he was very happy. We will be needing to go back to Michigan soon, so he will go back there. The place was clean and he said all the equipment was state of the art.

Negative experience: Nobody ever picks up the phone or opens the door. Tried a couple of times to sign up but ended up going to another place because they were actually there.
Was very surprised to receive this review. As of the 26th of this month, we have signed up 34 new members. All of them had to come in to receive their access cards. We do have staffed hours posted on website. Leaving a message during our times away will result in a return call. Fantastic experience: This gym offers a large selection of machines, free weights and cardio equipment. As other members have stated, it's clean and the owner is a class act. Membership rates are reasonable. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: Communication is beyond poor and unprofessional. Multiple requests had to be made for membership to be cancelled. Quite a racquet this guy has going. Keeps charging and then you finally get a "oops, I'll cancel it now".
Have been dealing with the very long and emotional sickness of my family member. As you can see from most all our reviews, our customer service and facilities are rated very high. It is unfortunate that I have not been able to respond as quickly as I would have liked to. My apologies.

Negative experience: Tried to cancel but ended up having to contact my credit company instead. He also did not give me my deposit back for returning the keys. Edit: keys were returned before review was written and no refund was given to me for returning the keys.
The refund for this membership is on it`s way to this member and the refund for membership card will be immediately issued when returned. The procedure we have in place is a 30 day cancellation notice.

Negative experience: Greetings, I am Mr. Rose. I have tried for over 1 year think (I believe it could have been longer than 1 year); to cancel my account. I have left voicemails, emails and I believe I even have went by the gym to get my membership cancelled. I think I called the Snap Fitness main organization maybe 1 or 2 summers ago but Snap Fitness seems to be sold to Franchise owners. The owners of each franchise deal with the people. This makes things much more challenging, when trying to reach management. Due to my account not getting cancelled at my prior request, I have been regularly receiving expensive overdraft fees. I no longer hardly use the bank account I have in Michigan. However, the account associated with Snap Fitness in Canton, MI keeps charging my bank account. The result? I am paying for a monthly membership that I do not use. I am also stuck paying a reoccurring overdraft fee. I have tried to reach Mr. Tom through many emails and many phone calls. To no avail, I have not been contact back. I saw that other people have wrote similar reviews on "Google review". I decided to try to reach Mr. Tom here, due to the lack of response on his behalf. Maybe he genuinely did not get my many emails and phone calls? If so, I can forgive that. However, many people seem to be having a similar situation -- according to the reviews. They are accusing Mr. Tom of being a crook. I want not to make the accusation however, I can see why people are moved to say such as they are loosing money in a time of of financial uncertainty. On December 19, 2020 I called the Gym again. I see that the phone number is still active. I left a message. I knew Mr. Tom to normally be a nice guy and I appreciated speaking with him. He has nice equipment however, I cannot understand why my account has not been cancelled. I keep getting banking penalties by way of overdraft charges. Mr. Tom, if you see this, please cancel my account sir. You should be able to find me as Mr. (((K. Rose))). I am not trying to bad mouth your business. I just want my account cancelled... I see that you (Mr. Tom) made a response about two (2) days ago to another person so I have decided to attempt to contact you through a review. You can reach me at godsb....@ yahoo.com. My whole email should still be one file. I put my first initial and my last name in this message (K. Rose). I have been getting consistent overdraft fees which are usually something like $35.00 usually monthly (but I put some money in the account sometimes so I do not get an overdraft fee) "plus" the monthly charge from Snap Fitness in Canton, MI membership. Negative experience: Had a membership from Feb 2019 to Feb 2020. Membership expired and I didn’t want to renew. Just got a charge yesterday from them. I didn’t realize they were storing my card information. I called and they were extremely rude and short. Very suspicious. I’ve never had a company hold my payment info and charge me months after my membership expiring without renewal. The guy I spoke with on the phone didn’t verify who he was speaking to and did not apologize. I recommend you pick any other gym. There is nothing special about this one and they will charge your card fraudulently without permission or apology.
We were closed for 6 months of time. Once the membership base was re-initiated, any charges were IMMEDIATELY refunded that were in error. We also reached out and apologized for this mistake on our part, asking for a removal of this review. The request was denied and told that it was to "discover what quality service means" We simply do not have a motive to charge a member or previous member for something they do not want. With hundreds of very happy members for over 10 years, and many that return every year, our overall record speaks for itself. I do appreciate it when we receive all the wonderful feedback day after day from members that know us well. We will continue to be successful for another 10 years.
Negative experience: The gym itself I had no problems with. It was clean, rarely had broken down machines, and even though its on the smaller side, if you can time it right there was usually only 3 or 4 other people at the same time. The big issue was canceling my membership. Early in the year (2020) I changed jobs and no longer was near this gym so I decided to cancel. It took three or four tries going during the day before I was able to get there when the gym was staffed. There was an older gentleman in the office with a second individual. I stood at the door and he asked what I needed and I said I had wanted to cancel my membership. I handed him my key card and he said thanks, he would take care of it. Three or four months later I was still being charged. I called many times and left messages which I recorded and asked for a call back or an email, but never heard back. I tried stopping in but since I no longer have a key card I had to ring the bell and no one ever answered. Then covid 19 came along and the gym has pretty much been shutdown. I spoke with my credit card company and they blocked future charges and contacted Snap Fitness (either the owner or manager) to see why I was still being charged. Eventually, they received a reply that there is no record of me canceling. This was pretty irritating, I'd expect this from a place like Planet Fitness but not at a recommended place like Snap. It is now August and I still can't get ahold of anyone at this location. If it wasn't for this issue, I'd have no problem recommending this gym, but as of now I can't.
I do apologize for this. I will do what is needed to make it right. We of course have been closed for going on 5 months. I will research this and correct it in the next 48 hrs

Negative experience: Treadmills are dangerous. The belts slip very aggressively almost throwing you off the machine. I stopped my workout to read the reviews, because I almost busted my rear end.
Was disappointed to read this review without first getting the opportunity to speak to this customer. We are very fast to respond to any need that may arise in our facility and repair asap. Negative experience: I am entitled to a membership through my health insurance. I travel for business and enjoyed the peace & quiet of this club. And the showers are nice - no complaints until Tom, the owner started acting very weird by turning the lights off - apparently from his home. He doesnt respond to a call instead writes a very strange text saying if you dont like it than dont visit the club. Thus he falsely represents that it is a 24 hour club - it is actually a constructive eviction with no lights and no notice that the lights will go off. Actually all of this is quite terrorizing - I therefore found greener pastures. Next I will file a complaint with my insurace co bc Tom owner is at a minmum is in breach of the contract. I suspect that he did darkness terror to me as he was being extorted by a stalker a/k/a terrorist. The stalker is likely posting negative comments here - trying to destroy owners busines if he owner refused to succumb to any continuing extortion demands.
I would respond to this concern, however, I think by reading it the content reveals how authentic it is.
Negative experience: Convenient but looks like almost everyone who leaves this Gym has issues with the owner still charging customer. That being said, most probably I will stay out of this location. Charging $30/month for a small gym is way too much. Another issue is getting hold of management. You hardly have someone from the management to talk to for any issue
Wanted to respond by saying we have bought all our billing in house now which has allowed us to manage it at the store level. We can now resolve any concerns immediately. We are staffed 65 plus hours a week which allows for easy access to owner / manager. Our pricing for a 24/7 gym is well below our direct competitor. We invite you to come in and at least see the gym before posting a review.
Negative experience: Canceled my membership four months ago after a year at the gym, they are still taking money out of my account, I call the manager and he says he will reimburse me but hasn’t. Instead I’m still being charged... made a police report today hoping they will stop stealing from me, The corperation has been notified and has yet to contact me... overall a bad business be very careful
Dear JiMi I am a franchisee, and work through corporate who processes our charges. I have since made it a policy to handle these concerns at the store level and not forward them. Fantastic experience: Great gym. Has the equipment that you need and the place is super clean. Also, has a sauna and i get great phone reception inside for streaming audio etc.

Positive experience: A small gym but loaded with equipment. It's a little cramped to get around the equipment. It has everything you need, though. There two bathrooms, both with showers, a Tanning booth and mini sauna. The machines are clean and there is no lingering smell of sweat. The owner Tom is friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: I did canceled my membership a year ago and supposed to get refund for my membership card deposit which never was received. Called many times and write many emails to the owner. No response !!! Got him couple times on the phone and every times was promised to get a check in the mail!!! Its already a year that’s ridiculous!!! Owner does not care about his members , cares only about the money. I highly recommend that after you cancel your membership replace your card which was assigned for auto payments , because he will keep charging you. Never give your bank account information. Besides this the gym equipment is very old , many times cardio equipment wasn’t working. Place not clean and smells bad. Please save your time and money. sometimes is better to pay couple dollars more but be in better place and get better customer service!

Negative experience: As a few others have shared, this man is a CROOK. I cancelled my membership in April, and was aware of the 30 day cancellation policy. It is now July and my card is still being charged. I’ve tried contacting him several times in which he either doesn’t answer or respond. The one time I was able to get ahold of him, he said he had already reversed the charges a week prior and too give it a few days (?). LIES. Because today, my account was charged again!! Currently in the process of fighting fraudulent transactions with my bank.
As a result of this great feedback we have taken steps to bring our billing system in house. No one would appreciate being labeled as a crook over issues they would love to resolve. We have virtually eliminated billing issues and allowed us to continue to serve our members. Having 179 members return this past year shows the improvements we have made. Appreciate the feedback and understand why you may have felt the way you did. In our 10th year here and thankful for each member.
Negative experience: In the beginning was nice but I cancelled my membership. 2 months later I have new charges and I'm fighting to get them removed from my credit card. This has happened for 3 months in a row and Jenner will not return calls. Don't recommend.

Fantastic experience: Going into my second year at this location. Love it! Although small, it serves our purpose. My mom and my sister also attend this location. It is clean, the equipment is clean and updated. In addition clean towels are provided daily to wipe down equipment before and after use, which was impressive to us given the last gym we attended. We love the fact we can come and go whenever we want without having to worry about whether it is closed or if someone will be there to let us in. Easy 5 star for me

Fantastic experience: I have been working out at this location for a little over 2 weeks and so far it has been a great experience. I am an early riser, so I typically get in around 6AM. At that time there are a handful of regulars and never a wait for any piece of equipment, which is everything you need for a complete workout. Tom, the owner, is there every morning before I get there and is usually just finishing up with his daily deep cleaning of the place. He's a really nice guy and obviously takes a lot of pride in his business-- it is one of the cleanest and well-kept gyms I have ever used. Edit: This continues to be my top choice gym in the area after >6mo of use. I have worked out at random times throughout the day due to my work schedule and it is consistently clean and well kept. Although there are some sporadic surge times, there is enough equipment to never have to wait for another member even when it seems packed.

Fantastic experience: The gym is always clean and the owner is very friendly! It’s open 24 hours 7 days a week and that’s so convenient for me. It’s not crowded nor busy to the point where you can’t enjoy your workout. It’s takes me a half hour to get there and for me it’s definitely worth it!

Negative experience: I have been double charged three different times. I've had to contact the corporate office just to get the owner to respond after emails and phone calls. The owner does not seem apologetic at all for the constant inconvenience. Cancelling my membership ASAP. Not worth the hassle. Good thing I have a membership with Lifetime Fitness as well.

Negative experience: FINE PRINT CROOKS! I signed up using a groupon for a three month membership that was due to expire in august. I noticed on my bank account statements that they kept withdrawing money from my bank account so I went in and spoke with someone. They had me write out personally that I did not want to continue my membership, but would not provide me with a pen or paper to do so (why? I don't know...) and was told my membership would be over at the end of October. So now on nov. 1st they withdrew more money from me again and a different person told me it is a 30 day process to cancel a membership. I am assuming when they take out more money on Dec. 1st it will be a 60 day process? COME ON! YOU GUYS ARE CROOKS WITH A TINY GYM!
We have long since replaced our billing system and have had very few situation as described in this feedback. Usually time tells if a business is striving to improve. Ten years now and we keep getting better.
