Sentara RMH Wellness Center

Positive experience: Love it! Very big gym, always clean, tons of equipment!!! The staff are very friendly and always cheerful. The place is broken up into sections for a wide arrange of exercises and there are roughly 15 personal trainers available. The only reason for 4 stars is due to the hours of operation. I wish they had a section that could be access 24 hours. All in all, I do enjoy this gym!

Negative experience: my family has not been given privacy in bathrooms and areas that should be safe and secure, and women should be protected at all times. This place has changed their policies to fit a political agenda and it is not ok.

Fantastic experience: 1st session with a trainer, Jay. Good guy, good listener, no preconceived "standard" workout. Will work with me and around injuries to get the most the facility has to offer. Nice, full featured facility. I will update as time goes on.

Positive experience: Would give them a 5 stars, the place is amazing. I love love the pool! However the hours are just horrible. Wish they would close around 9-10 instead of 8 and 5 on weekends.

Negative experience: Unserious facility and staff. Save your time and money and go to Valley Fitness.

Fantastic experience: An awesome place with an amazing staff!

Negative experience: I’m rating even though I’ve never been. Why? Because I’m new to the area and have Sentara as my Medicare provider though my wife doesn’t . I also have SilverSneakers as does my wife however this fitness center does not allow this program. So I’m wondering is it seniors they’re discriminating against or just poor seniors who can’t afford fitness?

Fantastic experience: This place is so nice I have been here since 2013 Like I’m still surprised about the fact, they have a sauna a whole gigantic whirlpool and they recently upgraded the locker rooms and it’s insane. I personally love it myself. They have a whole gigantic gym, a whole basketball court, and they have different kinds of programs. It’s amazing. I totally recommend this summer. There’s like a lot of programs that can go into during summer and the locker rooms are like new so it’s really really nice and the pool is so big they have three pools if you count the sauna one pool super cold one pool warm and warm pool is like super hot. It’s perfect for all the daily uses I think personally this is the best.

Fantastic experience: Sentara RMH Wellness Center is a great place to workout both individually and in groups. It’s fantastic that the membership includes so many different group classes for all different ability levels. I haven’t experienced any negative attitudes related to age or ability levels, only genuine encouragement from instructors and other participants.

Fantastic experience: I have really enjoyed going here. It's a little costly, but it's worth it. No dude bros bothering you, it's calm, quiet. Facilities are always super clean. They could spring for some benches in the showers for a place to put your things, though. Overall 9/10

Positive experience: I love this gym, they offer almost everything. It’s truly wonderful. I wouldn’t recommend the childcare. I brought my daughter for the first time, and no one greeted us. When I picked her up, she was crying and none of the workers seemed concerned or even said anything to me. That’s the only downside to the wellness center but other than that, we LOVE the facility.

Fantastic experience: Been going here for years now. Switched to a competitor across town due to moving… came back a few months ago and love all of the new renovation overall their offer. Clean, spacious, friendly, and overall the best gym in Harrisonburg. I am mainly writing this review because of something that occurred recently. I broke my ankle and called in to let them know I will be out for at least 3 months and that I would to need to pause my membership. Without hesitation and telling me to come in person to prove that I have an injury, the lady told me that’s fine and that she wishes me the absolute best. That means a lot knowing that not all gyms are like that. Theres a gym in town that would’ve given me a hard time and made me bring a doctors not etc…. I know this because I read the paperwork and talked to the lady about it that signed me up. Won’t be going anywhere else in Harrisonburg even if I move further away in the city. Definitely give this place your money if you’re thinking about coming here.

Fantastic experience: Exercising is not always fun, but going to RMH makes it a whole lot better. Nice people, great instructors, clean facilities, and plenty of tissues and towels. My personal favorite is the private rooms, where I can be away from the crowd and noise and get my Zen on.

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for an all in one gym, here it is! They have everything from yoga to swimming to indoor basketball to weightlifting and more. Combine that with a super friendly staff and you have a winning combination! Worth every penny!

Positive experience: Taking pool therapy.

Negative experience: I go up to the front desk to ask how much it is to be a member and the lady seemed like she didnt want to be there and then she acting like i was asking too much and she huffed and puffed when i asked her and she rolled her eyes. I am only there for aqua therapy my therapist is a sweet person but the person on the front desk needs to have an attitude check. She was lucky i am having a good day because i would have told her to watch her attitude.

Fantastic experience: The wellness center is absolutely amazing! A variety of everything needed to accomplish any goal you want to attain. There’s always a staff member walking around that will help you with form, a spotter, to show you how to use a machine or just to say hi. It’s always being cleaned in all areas including the locker rooms. Membership may be more than $10 a month, but you’re getting more than $10 a month worth of services!! Enjoy!!

Fantastic experience: A great place for families! I do my independent pool therapy in the heated pool and it helps so much with my medical needs. My family enjoys the pools and the gym as well. They have everything imaginable as far as gym equipment and it is all spaced out well so you never feel crowded. All the employees have been incredibly friendly and helpful too! We would never waste our money and time going anywhere else!

Positive experience: I really wish they would work on their pricing structure or offer discounts to city employees....that said the staff here is amazing and the equipment is top notch!

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a huge selection of free weights and machines. Staff is extremely kind and professional and always ready to help. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a great gym! Pools are always clean and it's great to be able to swim during winter months. Kids programs and childcare is the BEST!

Fantastic experience: It's Huge & Very Spacious. Has an Indoor Running/Walking Track. Indoor Swimming pool but Because Of Covid its being Housed as a Covid Vaccine Station at the moment on Sundays. Mon thru Saturday it's open for General Public. Must be a Member her. If not come see the facility, it's Wonderful. All types of packages are offered to joined.

Negative experience: Resources great, but staff rather poor. Employees use resources and make paying clients sit and wait for them — very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: I go to the wellness center to use the machines. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The staff is always cleaning the equipment and floors. They have areas marked well, hand sanitizer, towels, and a dispenser with disposable cleaning towelettes. They make it a safe and clean space and I feel very comfortable exercising there.

Negative experience: I called to cancel my membership and my last payment should be 30 days for my cancellation and the charge my with 2 months more!!!

Negative experience: We joined the Wellness Center mainly because it is kid friendly, has a great child care area and programs for kids of all ages. I have, however, been extremely disappointed since joining. Swim lessons were a major program we wanted. Last spring we couldn't get into lessons because there were only weekday morning classes still available so we had to wait until summer. In the summer, I spoke with someone at the front desk about lessons and she pointed out that private lessons would be an option and gave me a number to call. I called to schedule private lessons only to find out they are only available for ages 3 and up (the lady who recommended them at the front desk knew my daughter was 16 months). After being disappointed about that, I then went to sign up for the group summer lessons and again, the Saturday classes were full and only weekday morning options. I had to drive to Mount Jackson this summer to get my daughter swim lessons even though I am a member at the Wellness Center. This fall, my log in wasn't working at first and then once I got it, I again, missed the Saturday classes and was told I could sign up for weekdays. Swim Lessons was a major reason we signed up as members and for over 6 months we have not been able to get in. They only allow 8 kids in the class. For a center as big as the Wellness Center, 8 spots for swim lessons sounds ridiculous. Don't let swim lessons be a reason you join here because good luck getting in. We are really disappointed our daughter won't be able to take the classes starting Saturday. :(

More than just a gym, it has a cold water lap pool, warm water pool, and a whirlpool. The equipment is in good repair and they are always starting some new fitness program trying to include everyone from all fitness levels.
