Brevard Health And Racquet Club: Opinions
Fantastic experience: It was fun for my family
Fantastic experience: The Mitch at the front desk was a top level employee and deserves a raise
Positive experience: Been to the gym a few times now. I enjoy the equipment that’s offered, but wish the gym was a bit bigger with more floor space for mats/floor exercises. Also there are signs saying to dress appropriately since it’s a family organization, but have seen female teens wearing hardly nothing. Lastly, the owners/some employees do not seem to be so friendly to certain types of people.
Negative experience: The pool and locker room are filthy and stink. You’d likely catch a staph infection there. The staff are sometimes nice, but not always. It seems if you’re not of a higher social or income bracket, you don’t matter as much. The actual gym itself is nice and remodeled.
Fantastic experience: Very complete athletic club. Very friendly, helpful staff. Group fitness, tennis, in and out pools, professional trainers, weight, cardio, machines. Reasonably priced.
Fantastic experience: Great facility and great people.
Fantastic experience: Great place, lots of workout equipment and indoor/outdoor pools/ tennis courts, basketball courts, disc golf, an indoor play area for the kids, you name it they've probably got it! Very polite friendly staff, owner is a great guy, highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place! Highly recommend!!!!
Fantastic experience: Very nice facilities. Day pass runs about $15.
Negative experience: Please clean.the bathrooms are very, very grimy/dirty more times than not. It’s gross & I would not be able to recommend since it’s not clean
Fantastic experience: Great staff and environment used the golf simulator
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff, clean facilities, and an overall great experience in my almost two years as a member.
Fantastic experience: I have been working out here for almost two years now and I absolutely love it. Excellent organization between rooms as well as super friendly staff. Multiple trainers to help you reach your goals as well as a massage therapist and lots of group classes for anyone who needs that extra bit of accountability or group work to get started. It's a great place to achieve all of your goals and a very welcoming environment. I'd say 10/10 but google only lets me do 5/5. Love this place <3
Negative experience: There’s really not anything fabulous about the gym. Their pool has a ridiculous sign up policy, where all of the lanes are booked most of the day and to book a lane, you have to use the mind-body app. In order to book a lane you must stay up until midnight two days before and get a slot. Even then, you can only swim for 45 minutes at a time. The pool has been broken for over three weeks and no refunds or prorates, and this is the ONLY reason I am a member. The only place in the county with a pool and it’s super expensive to say the least. I’m guessing the high prices are for the tennis courts, but if you don’t use that it’s doesn’t make much sense.
Fantastic experience: I am so glad that I came here, they have all the things that I was thinking about, there place is awesome.
Fantastic experience: Excellent arena for tennis, pickle ball, and fitness. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Pickleball, both indoor and out! And $5.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and wonderful staff. They have plenty of activities to choose from. The only think we’d like to see added is more dumbbells! There is only one small set and if someone is using the weight you need, you have to wait.
Fantastic experience: Great clay tennis courts!
Fantastic experience: The racquet club is a great place to work out, hang out, or just embrace it all! They have an award winning swimming team, and the staff there is top notch!
Fantastic experience: What a great job updating this place! Amazing equipment, great classes (all outside now) extremely clean and gorgeous inside!
Positive experience: Love the outdoor pool
Positive experience: Excellent gym, great people classes included in the plan and great pool, perfect place for the whole family
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility and staff. They have all been very patient with our son in his development toward being a tennis competitor hopefully at a college level. Devin loves working with Ryan, Gabe, Dave and Josh. Thanks so much for your investment in our son!
Fantastic experience: Wow, I love this place! They are very giving and not at all the words you used! Top notch facility and some of the best customer service in town! You guys rock!
Positive experience: BHRC has been in operation since 1978, making it Brevard’s oldest continually operated health and racquet club. Facilities: the club has weight, nautilus, cardio, spin, CrossFit, Zumba, swim (2 pools), sauna, yoga, childcare (call for hours before dropping by with a child), juice bar, aerobic, tennis, and racquetball facilities. Pros: BHRC has Transylvania County’s only heated indoor pool for swim in the colder months. Also, they have indoor tennis facilities, and their outdoor courts include hard surface and clay. BHRC has a great staff and they are extremely dedicated to the club and its members. The facilities, pools, and courts, are maintained fairly well, and to their credit, BHRC has spent a good deal of time and money over the last 12 months in an honest attempt to make the club more family- and kid-friendly. Cons: business hours aren’t convenient if you have to be at work by 7:30AM. The club only opens at 5:45AM, which can sometimes put a strain on certain facilities, specifically the indoor pool during the colder months. Too, the classes offered often don’t align with working hours...having a Zumba class at 10:00AM, for example, excludes almost all working people. And, check the schedule...sometimes facilities are taken up by classes and teams and space isn’t limitless. Final Analysis: depending on what you do at BHRC, it can be the best of times, or rife with disappointment. As with many things Brevard, it’s the only show in town when it comes to having everything in one place, so expect to pay more per month for the privilege of using some of the facilities (the YMCA in Hendersonville is the next closest sort of facility). Tennis is obviously king at BHRC, but other classes and programs are offered, even if the times don’t really work for working people. I give BHRC three stars primarily because of their operating hours and limited class time availability; otherwise, BHRC is a great club.
Fantastic experience: Hidden Gem! This is a first class athletic club- they have a beautiful studio with a HUGE tv to do workout classes if you don't have time to do one on their class schedule. They have two beautiful pools- one outdoors, one indoors. They have a brand new crossfit training area that is first class. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Some people like to complain that it's a little older and that the bathrooms are a little older, but in all reality, you have everything you need and then some. If you are a tennis lover, their outdoor and indoor courts are clay and well-maintained. If you are a spin class lover, all the teachers (Laurie and Lydia) we've had were amazing. Definitely stop by if you are looking for a gym that has everything you need in one facility!
Positive experience: Overall, it's a pretty good gym. Some things that put me off: It's pricey, has poor hours of operation, and has no basketball league. I'm sure it's awesome if you play lots of tennis. If they were open later and the price was a little cheaper, I would probably stay with this gym. I think they do well with little competition in the area. I used to have an awesome gym membership for $10/month in the city that was open late.
Fantastic experience: I am a student at ECU and use their gym on a regular basis - one which they boast to be one of the best in the state. That being said, I 100000% prefer working out at Brevard Health and Raquet Club. They have everything you need to get in a stellar workout, without the overcrowding and having to fight for machines. The facility is always clean and neat, the machines top of the line, an awesome pool and sauna... Not to mention all kinds of group fitness classes that cater to any age or fitness level (challenge by choice). And the staff is consistently kind and friendly. I look forward to getting to come home on breaks to use this gym, thank you guys for having an awesome facility!
