Maryland Farms YMCA

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for this gym, but am devastated it’s closing. Will not be going to the Concord Road location. After green hills got rid of the sauna in the men’s locker room and now Maryland Farms closing, I can’t do the new pool deck cheap saunas at all of the other Ys where they do not get hot and are tiny. Sad.but loved this gym.

Fantastic experience: A classic. April will be its last month of service

Negative experience: I’ve been visiting this location while the downtown Y is being renovated. What a difference! The staff is too concerned with watching the clock to leave at night and will start turning the lights out 20 min before closing while people are still working out. The men’s locker room is disgusting and I’ve only seen the janitor change the trash and that’s all. No one follows the rules as far as cleaning the machines once finished on the workout floor and the locker room is a joke. Guys will have their cell phones out, snap chatting and FaceTiming people while other guys are in the background trying to shower, lots of teenagers under 18, and a ton of profanity. This would never happen at the downtown Y. The only good thing I will say is whoever the younger gentleman is that works the night shift is really nice and always goes out of his way to say hello. He’s actually the only one I see doing anything besides sitting behind a desk.

Positive experience: This place is huge. I only go for one program, but it obviously has many fitness and wellness areas available.

Fantastic experience: I spoke with some pretty amazing women from the YMCA that run the ABC program and I think that’s an amazing program!!! If you don’t know about it….it’s an after breast cancer program and it’s free to cancer patients for 16 weeks!!! I would recommend anyone that has gone through treatment or is currently going through treatment to call and ask about it.

Negative experience: “Lap swim from 7am-4:30”. Was told at 8:40am that I need to use one of the other lanes, because swimming lessons were starting. None of the lanes were available because of other lap swimmers(understandable), except for the 1st lane that four people were having a conversation and splashing each other in. Why weren’t swimming lessons in that useless lane? Didn’t get to finish work out.

Fantastic experience: Certainly a favorite place to be. The entire staff is amazing. And the membership is fantastic. It's a shame they are closing.

Negative experience: This place won’t allow you to lift barefoot.

Fantastic experience: One of my favorite YMCA locations in middle Tennessee. The indoor pool here is the best.

Negative experience: Child Care workers curt and rude to me and my children. My 4-year-old was so afraid he said he didn't want to go back. I spoke to the manager but the problem has not been resolved. I canceled my membership today. When asked for my reason the manager neither apologized nor offered any solutions.

Positive experience: The Maryland Y is a nice gym.

Negative experience: Most of the staff are rude!! And why would you send your children to the summer camp there? All the camp counselors do is yell and scream at these sweet children. It's heartbreaking to see. I've watched it for the last 3 years and why do we go back. Because location but this is it! We are finished with this unsafe place. Then one of the lifeguard looked like he was asleep as he was supposed to watch kids go down the slide. I watched one employee yell and be disrespectful to one mom for no reason. This place is ugly!! Go to Williamson co.rec or anywhere else

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this facility! The staff, cleanliness, and the wonderful history make it such a unique experience. They have a good amount of space to work out, especially if you venture to other parts of the facility that have small pockets to kind of get away from the hustle.

Fantastic experience: Good memories here from the 70s and 80s. I'm gonna miss this place when they tear it down. That's the price for being old around here.

Positive experience: Pretty good YMCA with a decent amount of equipment. The layout is really confusing and spread out over three levels though, and the AC wasn't on in some places which was unbearable. I was getting weird vibes from some of the people there too. But overall a decent place to work out.

Negative experience: Used to work at this facility as well as another in the middle Tennessee Area. I’m now a nurse and returned for a day visit and was told they no longer do guest passes. I’m willing to pay but told I need to have someone else there to be a guest of them since the one at the desk does not know me. However, I’m told they will happily give a tour if I’m interested in a membership…but I don’t live here anymore. Didn’t think they’d treat me like this but I will now find somewhere else to go for my workout. I heard they were selling the facility for revenue purposes due to competition in the area. Well, adios.

Negative experience: I called to complain about a fat woman behind the counter scoffing at me every time I walked in. It became a problem when my heart rate increased while running on the treadmill. Instead of reprimanding her, they told me I was banned from all the YMCA's in the middle TN area and sent a Brentwood cop to my house to railroad me into jail.

OMG I just wanted to get membership information and if it's too noisy on your end then patch me through to someone that can give me some information, right?! lol wow

Fantastic experience: Very clean and well staffed facility offering many classes. The machines are all relatively new and well maintained. The membership is inexpensive and includes so much! The Women’s locker room has a hot tub and sauna, I can’t believe all that is included with such an inexpensive membership.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and plentiful options for classes and equipment. The mission of the YMCA is also great for the city.

Negative experience: Poorly run, especially the tennis center. There’s a reason this place is going away, no support or accountability from management and the staff is clueless. I was threatened with physical violence by another member at this facility recently and nothing was done about it, not even a phone call. They also have non-sensical policies such as you can bring guests but ONLY if they’re from out of town, locals are not allowed. They can’t even provide a reason for this policy when you ask. I’d avoid this place and look elsewhere - ever since they announced it’s closing, they seem to have given up.

I love all the equipment too and they do a good job of keeping it up to date and are willing to buy new things periodically.

Fantastic experience: Giving The YMCA a try was the best thing that could of happened to me. I was a regular gym member at another gym for years and they closed so I had shop. I was asked by a co-worker to give them a look. After I visited several gyms including the YMCA and realized this was my place. It was much more than I expected It blew me away at the amenities that came with being a member. So much to offer for a great lifestyle change at an affordable price. Very clean well run and super friendly staff. Kaley greets me by name every time she sees me which is impressive. Great job !!

Fantastic experience: They've done an incredible job with Covid strategies. I worked in gyms on cruise ships for years and this is impressive and extremely clean. The cycling instructors rise to the top when they entertain the young and the old (like me) with fun music, high energy and positive encouragement. My day is always better starting it there! Thank you for doing such a great job!

Fantastic experience: The equipment is latest-- and updated each year! Excellent, friendly professional services eager to help will impress the visitor! This is a superb facility on all three floor levels. Swimming and whirlpools aplenty. Exterior swim and slides are here. .. A variety of programs for everyone in each age group! There are areas just for Women! , As well as common workout spaces ! YOGA, STRETCHING, BOXING- type exercise - you name it ! A healthy drink bar , or sandwich can revive you before you leave! !

Fantastic experience: They are always welcoming as you enter the building. They are always willing to help if you have any questions. Everyone works to keep all areas clean and ready for members to use the machines and classrooms.

Positive experience: It’s great to have so many YMCA options when I am in the Middle Tennessee area. This particular Y caters to the tennis crowd. So that is a rating I cannot make. I swim. It’s a very nice pool with a rare wooden a/framed arched roof. I swim a lot on my back! The only reason I would give it a 4 instead of 5 is for three reasons. 1) the pool area is dim. Ok, but dim. 2) the locker room doesn’t exit onto the pool deck. You need to walk a few feet through a back hall common area. Again, ok. 3) the way back to the pool is a literal maze. That being said, the staff understands that and have personally walked me through that maze - great customer service. So while tempting to give it a 5, it’s not quite where the very best Y facilities are, but overall you won’t be disappointed to use this facility as a member or as a Nationwide Y traveling guest.

Fantastic experience: Well I have sort of a history with this particular YMCA. My sister used to work there and my Father goes every day. The staff are friendly and nice. They have an indoor pool, indoor tennis courts, indoor running track, and a massive weight/exercise room! You can definitely get a total body workout there!

Fantastic experience: This YMCA has everything you can think of! I really enjoy going but it's very crowded at any point. I usually go swimming in the mornings, but there is always a crowd as soon as they open and it's a race to get to the pool. The staff and people there are very friendly!

Fantastic experience: The YMCA is great! This one is especially nice. They provide towels! A really nice touch to save you form having to bring one from home and wash every time you go to the Y. The equipment is also newer and always in good condition. The locker rooms are pretty big, and I have never had an issue getting a locker. I do kinda wish the workout floor was spread out a little more. Sometimes I feel a bit crammed i certain areas. I know the tennis club is huge, but might be nice to have a little more breathing room.

Fantastic experience: Maryland Farms YMCA has been a wonderful place to work out, play tennis, and enjoy some after exercise food. In the summer months, the very large outdoor pool and snack bar are a bonus to my year round membership. The facility is situated in a beautiful part of Brentwood with a wooded surrounding and easy access from the main street running leading from and into down town Brentwood. I have been a member for 11 years and really enjoy all of the options for exercise.

Positive experience: When they aren't closing the main floor for repairs which seems to be about at least a day to a week every calendar quarter (just what it seems like) it is a great facility. The main exercise room is spacious and well laid out; though it consistently gets very crowded at peak hours.

Fantastic experience: The Maryland Farms YMCA is the nicest Y in Middle Tennessee. It's amenities resemble a country club more than a typical gym. From the hot tub, sauna, and steam room standard in men and women's locker room, to the towel services, and the 25 meter indoor-pool with an additional hot tub on the pool deck, the amenities are amazing. During the summer months, the olympic sized outdoor pool and water park are excellent for entertaining children and families. The media room, that allows guests to watch full-length feature films while doing cardio is another excellent feature. I drive from East Nashville,where we recently moved, to experience all of the post-work out amenities.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. Our favorite YMCA in Nashville. I highly recommend. The swimming lessons are excellent. The facility is always spotless clean. My kids enjoy every minute of it.

Fantastic experience: Summer Camp at the Maryland Farms YMCA is fantastic. Not only is it economical, my daughter gets to swim every day, meet new and old friends and build amazing friendships with the other campers. But the best part are the meaningful relationships she builds with the counselors. These teenagers are amazing and really do connect with the children. My daughter looks forward to seeing them every summer. Some have moved on and graduated from college and she still talks about them and misses seeing them.
