  • Welcoming Atmosphere: Many visitors commend the friendly and accommodating staff who create a warm environment, making it a great place for both beginners and experienced climbers.

  • Occasional reports of unwelcoming behavior from some staff members, though the vast majority of users comment positively on the light-hearted, helpful nature of the team.

Fantastic experience: We had such a great experience at Spire Climbing Gym! While my kids weren’t part of the camp, they were climbing nearby during camp hours—and I was blown away by how kind and accommodating the staff running the camp were. They created a warm, welcoming atmosphere and didn’t hesitate to include my kids in encouragement and casual interaction, even though we weren’t part of the program. It made the whole experience feel more connected and positive. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and full of great routes for all levels. We’ll definitely be back!

Shannon Zotto 3 months ago

Negative experience: Weekday mornings in the summer are filled with camp kids. I don't mind the kids around, but the staff don't care that the kids are taking up all the autobelay routes. If you don't have enough staff to belay the camp kids, then you should reduce your summer camp volume. The current system is incredibly rude and disrespectful to other climbers.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Thank you for sharing your feedback Shannon, and we’re very sorry for the frustration you experienced during your visit. We completely understand how important it is for all our climbers, whether camp participants or regular patrons, to have fair access to the auto belays, and we apologize that we fell short in ensuring that balance during your time here.

Your point about staff reminding campers to be more courteous is well taken, and we’ll reinforce this with our team to prevent similar situations in the future. We also encourage patrons to let a camp counselor know if there’s a specific route they’d like to use, as we’re always happy to accommodate and make sure everyone gets a chance to climb.

As a small gesture of apology, we’d like to add a free punch back to your account. We hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide a better experience, and we appreciate your feedback.

Feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you’d like to discuss this further.

Fantastic experience: Spent almost 2 hours in the gym before my flight out of Bozeman. Staff was very friendly, and the changing room / shower facility was a nice bonus so that I wouldn't be sweaty on the flight. Boulder problems were fun and interesting, many on inclined walls. They have lots of auto-belays, so you can rope climb even if you didn't come with a partner.

Positive experience: It’s a good facility. Has all the equipment you need for climbing and lifting. My biggest gripe is that they clean the bathrooms multiple times a day, even during peak hours, which is quite an inconvenience if your equipment is stored in the lockers. I walked in there explaining I was just going to get my stuff and immediately got snapped at by a snotty sounding brunette woman, so I stopped doing that. A lot of the employees are nice, it’s just that particular woman has an aura of passive aggressiveness about her. Occasionally you get a mean one for no reason. It’s irritating walking into the gym but having to wait 10 minutes while they clean the bathroom before I can get the equipment I need to starting using the gym. Kind of defeats the purpose of a locker to begin with. It’s kind of nonsensical too, like what if you’re leaving or in a rush but you can’t access your stuff because they’re cleaning? I don’t understand why they can’t just clean the bathrooms after closing like most other businesses do. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect that given I pay $90/month, over $1000/year to use the facility… One other thing thats annoying, the weight room is on the second floor, so you can’t really drop the weights too hard if you’re doing cleans, snatches, rows, or deadlifts. I almost got kicked out for doing deadlifts once even though I was using pads, meanwhile some dude was doing heavy rack pulls, slamming the bar against the power rack, damaging the equipment, and no one cared. Other than that, overall it’s a great place to train. I just wish they’d fix a few things.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey there,

Thank you so much for your great and detailed review. We love getting feedback like this, as it provides crucial information on how we can improve in serving our community.

Regarding the bathroom's being closed for cleaning, we would love if you you could provide a bit more information on what time this happened, so we can make sure to speak with our staff and provide training opportunities. Was this in the morning, or the evening?

In terms of the weight area, there is a reality that the second floor does lead to some drawbacks regarding lifting heavy weights. Slamming weights results in the shaking of the building, and can be disruptive to ongoing yoga classes. We are aware of this drawback, and definitely understand your frustration. That being said, we do not condone any staff threatening to kick you out for that, and will remind staff when approaching members of our community to ensure they are empathetic and polite in the way they go about communicating this.

Once again, we really appreciate your detailed review and feedback. If you can provide some more information regarding the bathroom incident, please feel free to either reply to this on Google, or directly to our management team at [email protected].

Thanks again,

Negative experience: Spire is one of the most unwelcoming, pretentious, overpriced, and crowded gyms I have ever been to. Go the the mountain project if your looking to boulder. They are cheaper and much nicer.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hi Oliver,

I’m really sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at Spire. We genuinely strive to be a welcoming space for everyone and take feedback like this very seriously.

I tried giving you a call yesterday and left a voicemail with my direct number—I’d love to connect and learn more about your experience, as this isn’t the kind of feedback we typically receive.

As for pricing, we do our best to balance affordability with the need to pay our employees livable wages, especially as the cost of living in Bozeman continues to rise. We’re proud to offer membership rates below $100/month, which is becoming the standard for climbing gyms across the industry. That said, we also offer a reduced-rate membership option for those who may qualify, which you can learn more about here: https://www.spireclimbing.com/reduced-rate-membership

Crowding can definitely fluctuate depending on the time of day and the season, and we understand how that can impact the experience. If you’d be open to chatting, I’d really appreciate the opportunity to better understand your concerns. Please feel free to give me a call back anytime.

Best,

Ryan W.

Positive experience: I’ve climbed at Spire a handful of times, and I’ve climbed at close to 20 other gyms around the country and in Canada. I’m an older, non-traditional climber and i enjoy the community and experience as much as the activity itself. That said, I’m constantly disappointed with how dismissive and unwelcoming the desk staff is at this facility. It feels like a place where you would go once and then quit if you were new to the sport. Which is so unfortunate since the setting is interesting and fun and size, and layout of the facility is as good or better than most. The patrons are similar to other gyms located in outdoorsy communities, but that doesn’t mean the staff should only offer a positive customer service experience to the outdoorsy-typical climbers. I have considered getting a membership because I come to Bozeman often, but probably will opt to climb with my son outside when I visit. I don’t care what people think of me or my abilities, but I don’t want to spend my money where I don’t feel particularly welcome.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hi Mignon, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We truly appreciate your feedback and take it seriously, especially since creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is something we deeply value at Spire.

We’re surprised to hear that you didn’t feel welcomed by our front desk staff, as we typically receive great feedback about their friendliness and customer service. That said, your perspective is important, and we’ll absolutely use it to continue improving how we support and engage with all climbers who walk through our doors.

It sounds like you were able to connect with our Operations Manager, Charlie, about your experience, and we’re really grateful that you took the time to have that conversation. If there’s anything else we can do to make things right, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope you’ll give us another chance in the future, and we’d love to see you back at Spire whenever you’re in Bozeman.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, great bouldering competition! My granddaughter competed and enjoyed it very much. Back in the 80’s snd 90’s I was a trad. climber, the only place to really train, especially for bouldering, was out at the “grove” out on the gallatin ehich has been closed for 30 years plus. It’s great to see people with interest in climbing anle to practice and train in such a supportive and safe environment!

Fantastic experience: We were passing through town and stopped here to climb. We were greeted by super friendly and helpful staff and taken through our belay check. There's a ton of routes for all abilities to choose from, including top rope, auto belay and bouldering. Plus a ton of lead climbing terrain. Grades started at 5.5 and VB, meaning first time climbers would have no trouble finding fun things to climb. As a bonus they had an extensive selection of climbing shoes and gear, clothing, books and more. Staff helped my husband pick out a new pair of shoes and he was happy he had so many to try on in order to find the right fit. Would happily visit the next time we're in Bozeman!

Fantastic experience: The Spire is my happy place. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The facility is clean, safe, and well run. The staff are universally friendly, polite, and professional (enough, but also easy-going and flexible,) and are, generally, extremely knowledgeable. The setters are genius. There's a great mixture of grades, styles, and challenges, but more than that, they use the routes to teach you something. Maybe one it's heel hooks, other it's compression, a third it's body position, and not in a heavy handed, repetitive way, more theme and variation. My friend today chose a particular warm up route because she liked the flow. I said I liked how secure it all get, like you could free solo it, and she said, "yeah, it makes me feel like I'm dancing." Which brings me to the vibe of the place. It's awesome. You will see some world class climbers here, but you will also see them giving high fives to the beginner who just conquered their very first V2. Everyone is so supportive and friendly you should go there whether you're a hard core comp climber just passing through, or a complete beginner with a four year old in tow. Good times will be had by all.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey Brian, thank you so much for your review, it's wonderful to hear such kind words from a long standing patron of Spire. We would not have such a great community here without people like yourself, and your ongoing support as a valued member means the world to us. Thanks for climbing with us, and we always look forward to seeing you in the gym!

Positive experience: Meh. Clean facility n such. This place has great potential, but It could cater to it’s audience a bit better. We were there for about 4 hours and only saw one group lead climbing- while the toprope and bouldering areas were packed. About 70% of the ropes climbing area is only for leading and it was all desolate. Maybe open the gym up a bit more for everyone by adding more top ropes??? I know theres tons of new climbers in the area, as this is a college town- make it more accessible!! Don’t get me wrong, lead climbing is wonderful and deserves a good chunk of a gym- but as folks that are just passing through for the day, we didn’t want to jump through the hoops to get the lead test because they force you to take the toprope and auto belay test first?? As if someone who is ready for a lead test cant clip themselves into an auto belay? I get it doesn’t take very long, but for people just getting a day pass, it feels like a huge inconvenience. Lastly, the bouldering overall has good setting, but maybe consider not putting the crux at the top of so many problems? Some of the boulder problems could be considered highballs and can just straight up be too dangerous for a gym. anyways- great gym at its core but could definitely benefit from some more accessible expansion into the lead areas.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hi Eric! Thanks for the constructive feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed your time and put some thought into helping us make the gym a better place. We are always looking to improve.

Yes, our Main Facility does feature a significant amount of lead climbing (about 45% lead climbing and 55% top rope and autobelay) and we feel this does cater to our community. In the summer months, a majority of our experienced climbers venture outside to get their lead climbing fill. This could account for the lack of folks on the lead walls. While there is space to add a few top ropes to the edges of the lead area, the steepness of the walls in the middle limits the use of a top rope due to safety concerns – folks would swing out away from the wall. Next time, be sure to check out our Training Center – bouldering only!

Our thorough proficiency tests also stem from a place of safety. We treat our autobelay, top rope, and lead testing policy as a tiered system. One must be completed before the other. The autobelay orientation is just that, and we take it as an opportunity to highlight the risk involved with that activity and make sure all our participants understand our specific system for operating the autobelays, as they do differ between climbing facilities, nationwide. The top rope assessment allows us to get to know the customer better and build a sense of trust before moving on to the lead test. Many of the foundational principles of a good lead belayer can be identified in a good top rope belayer. Lastly, our lead test is thorough, though, not meant to be an inconvenience. We take pride in a community that can lead by example and hold all our customers to a high standard set forth by the Climbing Wall Association’s guidelines for belaying.

If you have specific boulder problems in mind that you feel are unnecessarily risky, we’d love to know which ones so we can make proper adjustments. Our setters always try to consider the potential dangers of a high fall, while also knowing that falling is an integral part of bouldering. If you'd like, drop us an email at [email protected] We appreciate your shared concern.

Thank you for the feedback and time!

Positive experience: Background: I’ve been to several gyms around the country, have set at the facilities, and think climbing is pretty rad…. (Saying this to give it somewhat credibility when I give these suggestions :) ) Pros: -The space is really nice. Open and lots of natural light -Lots of wall space! -Solid amount of routes and boulders -Prices pretty standard but the student discount is nice (can’t really do much about the price. Pretty standard for all climbing gyms) -The staff was very nice and helpful :) -Good Vibes (subjective), but people were having fun and the vibes were good -A fair amount of routes were very good! Negatives (Improvements) mainly for the top rope and gym management: 1. The space for non-lead climbers is limited at best with 2-3 zones with half the gym off limits to many…. Which I don’t have the hugest problem with… BUT this creates a serious space issue (I was there on a Saturday noon which would be a peak time but wasn’t too busy, yet even with the space everyone was extremely cramped in 2-3 areas with lines at many auto belays and top ropes). This was polar opposite to when we went over to the lead area where 2 climbers were alone in the 30-40 “lead only” routes in two separate areas with no lead allowed in the top area (draws were nonexistent) and no top allowed in the lead area. Now this could be seen as a safety aspect for swinging out of climbs or interfering with a lead climber on a top rope nearby and risking a collision, but I have never been to another facility that separates the areas like this. Solution: Mix the areas, put QuickDraws on all sections and top ropes on the lead areas. People can pull the rope if they want to lead and people can leave it on top if they want to top. This would spread out the gym especially during peak kids hours when currently kids take up the majority of the auto belays and take a long time on them… I mean kids be kids whatcha gonna do? Lol #2 The Gri Gris built into top ropes and the wrap bar at top for anchors. Now I get this is for friction and understand what the facility is going for with built in safety and “auto locking” gri gris even though technically gri gris aren’t auto locking. The anchors are up there. Trust the climber to use them. The bar almost makes things more dangerous for inexperienced belayers as the friction causes them to not keep the rope tighter and bigger slack lines for weaker belayers or ones not paying attention. Same with the gri gris. Solution: Use the anchors, trust your user base and educate the twist rather than implement it on every route with the bar. You could honestly still keep the gri gris if you wanted for personal sake but again trust the base with bringing their own devices and or having them checked out at the front desk. If anything the gri gris being on the routes encourage users who can’t really belay already have it there for them to attempt it with lack of skills or knowledge if staff is not paying attention. #3: Spotty grading and progression on routes. Now I know every route can not be a masterpiece and setters are learning and I did come across fun routes in every grade. But the 12 selection in the top rope area is few and far between which is fine if you want to push them to the leads which is fine but if someone an experienced climber is alone they further pollute the already crowded auto belay area. Route grading was spotty with some 12s that I climbed being more at a 11- with one big shutdown move. I can say progression (comp style) of difficulty on the routes I did were fairly good, but several times I came across in a 11 or 12 route primarily where instead of it matching the style the set would just do a large move or super awkward transition to get “harder” and didn’t match or flow. Solution: More feedback with setting team and communication Many issues come from what I think is a lack of trust in its climbing base. Solid gym but lots of room for improvement! Don’t take this as snarky just trying to be constructive! Keep up the solid work!

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Thank you for the review and structured feedback Sam! We really appreciate it and are taking your points into account. As far as the spotty grading and progression goes, your visit happened to line up with a USAC Youth competition that we had just had in the gym, so the routes had been designed with progression specifically in mind and for shorter, youth competitors. We know that these routes for competitions aren't always super appealing to other climbers, so we did some fill in work to provide more variety of climbs to our customers.

Thanks again for your feedback, and providing it in such a concise and constructive way, and we look forward to having you back in the gym soon!

Negative experience: Good gym but way too small for the amount of people in Bozeman who use it. Membership is over 70 dollars a month and you can barely ever make it in because it’s always unbelievably packed regardless of what hour you show up. Like not pretty full, but packed like a ton of sardines. It’s ridiculously annoying.

Thanks so much for providing feedback Cole! As things get colder we definitely see an influx of people coming into the gym and we understand the frustration of feeling packed in. Have you been to our Training Center location yet? It's located at 10 Innovation Ln, Bozeman, MT, 59718, and it is typically a less crowded location! Negative experience: The pricing here is pretty standard and includes a student discount which is cool. Staff were friendly, but the rest of the gym felt very off putting. I am a 5’5” woman and have been climbing for two years. I have been to gyms across the country and I must say this one is the least welcoming. There are only two female routesetters, and you can tell from the intended beta. I felt very frustrated being a v5 ish climber that I could not send even slabby v3s because they were clearly intended for much taller climbers. The culture here is toxic as the taller male climbers ignored me and made comments about my height. I did not feel welcome here at all. I did not experience the sense of community and collaboration that the other male climbers had with each other, which I have been able to enjoy at every other gym I’ve been to.

Fantastic experience: I had a great time at Spire Climbing while visiting Bozeman. I purchased a day pass and rental gear for about $30, which is a fair price for a facility like this. I was impressed by the quantity and quality of their bouldering walls, as well as the auto belays. There are plenty of weights and climbing training equipment upstairs as well. Thank you to the staff for being very friendly, sharing climbing knowledge on the area, and making my visit a very enjoyable one!

Fantastic experience: Visited for my sisters graduation and climbed here so I wouldn’t get behind. SUCH GOOD VIBES. The staff was friendly and they had accurate and FUN SETTING! People have complained about the pricing on here but for a bigger gym it’s pretty on par with what everyone else charges. Hoping the best for them! Looking forward to visiting again!

Fantastic experience: I've been here for a few youth USAC competitions. The setting is always good, and I stick around to climb afterwards quite often. This visit around, my leg was recovering from an injury, so no bouldering for me, but everything looked fantastic! Employees were really respectful and it was just a chillenvironment. To top it all off, there was a great shop full of climbing goodies. P.S-For those worried about kids at climbing gyms, we deserve climbing as much as you guys do, and while some kids are annoying, so are gym bros.

Fantastic experience: I did not climb at this gym but went here to purchase shoes earlier this month while on vacation. The 5 stars is for the customer service provided by Kevin. He was AMAZING, super helpful, and patient. I don't remember how many pairs I tried on but I was surrounded by boxes, had to be more than 10 pairs. He was able to educate me on how to find the right fit and wasn't trying to push anything in their inventory. I've been to a dedicated climbing store near me and I didn't receive this level of knowledge. Really appreciate the service. If you're looking for shoes definitely stop by this gym and ask for Kevin.

Fantastic experience: I’m relatively new to climbing and I was very intimidated joining a gym by myself. However, all the staff here have been incredibly helpful and compassionate while I’ve been learning the ropes (pun intended). The atmosphere at Spire is inclusive and very social, and people are open to helping you out.

Negative experience: By far the most toxic and unwelcoming environment in a climbing gym in the ENTIRE United States. The staff are unbelievably rude and judgemental. The only reason this gets more than 1 star is because the climbing is pretty good. I don't recommend going here unless if its dumping rain or snow. The GM is a nice guy but every one else there cultivates an unwelcoming culture of toxicity.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hi Sam, thank you for this feedback. We take customer service to heart and want every customer feeling that Spire is a welcoming and inclusive environment. Please know that we apologize that you had this experience, and we are working hard with our staff to find out how we can improve from this experience. As the GM, I believe our staff reflect my actions so I will personally work to make sure we do better. We look forward to welcoming you to Spire on your next visit!

Negative experience: Spent time filing out the waiver, then paid the $22 to climb, and THEN was told my 8 year old has to wear a mask while climbing are you kidding me? No thanks. Next time please don’t waste people’s time and let them know your BS policies before hand.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hi Crystal, we appreciate your feedback and apologize for this miscommunication. Our COVID policies follow the County Health Department, CDC, and local school district guidelines and are listed on our website, front door, and front desk. Our staff typically let everyone know these policies when arriving at the gym, so if this was not explained well to you, we apologize. We were happy to issue you a full refund for your visit.

Fantastic experience: I went to Spire a few days ago with zero climbing experience and the staff was helpful and kind when explaining how to use the equipment! The gal helping us made us feel comfortable asking any and all questions when figuring out what to do with the harness and equipment.Using the auto-belays was amazing because you could climb on your own and still feel safe! The facility was impressive and clean. Absolutely check this place out if you’re looking for a fun way to exercise and challenge yourself!

Fantastic experience: Rock climbing can be an intimidating sport, but Spire creates an inclusive and community-oriented space for everyone. Whether you've been climbing since before gyms were a thing—or you've been wanting to try it out for the first time—Spire is a great place to see your strengths in action and build community. In addition, the yoga and fitness classes, as well as personal training with Coach Phil makes Spire one-of-a-kind. This is an amazing community to be a part of.

Positive experience: IMHO it could use a couple more top rope stations. It's a nice facility with pleasant staff.

Ian Laird 5 years ago

Positive experience: Pros: -The gym is always clean and the staff are pretty nice. -Lots of routes. There are two sides of the gym each with a bouldering section, a lead wall, and a TR wall. -great setters! The routes are always a lot of fun to climb no matter your skill level. The one critique I have is that routes rated at the same level can vary a lot in difficulty. This seems to occur more at lower grades though. -Exercise area is nice but I don’t really use it -lots of hang boards :) Con: -kid swarms. During the summer there are summer camps where there are kids running all over the place. I get why you do it but I think member only climbing hour or something would be so nice. Or maybe just a time each week when people under 13 or something aren’t allowed.

Positive experience: Been coming to this climbing gym ever since I moved here (although there is no other indoor option in Bozeman). I really enjoy the atmosphere of Spire. They have a well rounded staff who is helpful and (mostly) friendly. Their routes have seemed to really... well sucked for a little while. Other then that, they have a good selection of weights and cardio machines for a climbing gym, as well as a yoga studio for stretching and getting in touch with your roots. They just raised their prices for members, which is a little frustrating. But if you’re looking for a fun indoor climbing experience, Spire is all Bozeman has got to offer. You get what you pay for, and Spire is clearly doing something right!

Bill Johnson 5 years ago

Negative experience: Can someone else open a climbing gym in Bozeman so Spire’s monopoly will be broken and they will be forced to stop being such capitalists. I mean seriously spire you are a bit ridiculous with your financial practices. Your stationary bikes are terrible. You need new ones. The whole gym area needs a revamp if you’re going to charge as much as you do.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey Bill,
Thank you for your feedback. We make every effort to keep our rates as fair as possible. Adjustments we make to Spire dues are related to changes in our operating costs such as utilities, cost of goods, insurance, and fair wages for our staff. We hope you understand that we need to make these changes from time to time to operate and provide our members with continued great service and value.

As for our stationary bikes, we'd love to know what you'd like us to have. We are always up for feedback that we can use to make our facility better!

Positive experience: Spire is such a cool gym for the town of Bozeman, I had some concerns earlier and left a lower star review, however Spire's Staff clearly makes an effort to show support to their customers. Super awesome gym!!

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey Alex,

Thank you for your feedback as we really appreciate hearing from our members.

We aim to reset our routes every 8-10 weeks and boulder problems every 4-6 weeks, with the holds getting a thorough pressure wash between sets. As for our grades, we are always open to suggestions on how we could do better. The nature of climbing makes it challenging to make sure every grade feels the same for every person as everyone is a different build and climbs with a different style. We try to set for all body types, so sometimes things may feel much easier or harder than the grade may imply depending on your build and style of climbing. For our boulder grade system, we use circuit grades with signs posted around the gym showing the conversion of our grades to other common grading systems. If you have questions regarding our circuit grades, we would be happy to explain how it works and why we use it.

If you'd like to contact our setting team directly, or meet with them and leave further constructive feedback, please go to https://www.spireclimbingcenter.com/setting or drop us an email. They always want to hear what our members want so we can offer the best possible experience for our customers!

Again, thank you for your feedback, and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to improve your experience. We'd love to earn a 5-star review from you! If you have any further comments, please drop us a line at [email protected]

Cheers,
Ty Morrison-Heath

Fantastic experience: I'm in love! This is by far the best climbing gym I've been to. Big enough to have everything you need, but not overwhelming. Lots of bouldering, sport climbs, auto-belays, and lead routes! Always clean and organized, with new routes being set up consistently. Was pleasantly surprised to see GriGris attached to all the ropes, so you won't need your own device for top rope belay.

Fantastic experience: Spire is a top notch climbing gym with an awesome staff to support it! I have been to several gyms in the US and Europe and have found our local gym to be superior on many accounts. It’s clean! The routes change on a regular basis, the holds are the latest variety available, and best of all they are thoroughly cleaned in between each set. The owners, staff and setters care, and pay attention to customer input. Spire is spacious as they have expanded the facility several times as our climbing community grows. At times in the afternoon it can get busy with youth programs, but this is what we want in climbing! Younger generations getting after it!!

Karl Fostvedt 7 years ago

Positive experience: Decent, but expensive.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey, Karl, thanks for the feedback! Our prices are similar to other climbing gyms across the nation that offer similar services. Day passes and memberships at Spire allow you to climb, workout, and take yoga classes, which we believe is a great value. Again, thank you for the review and your business!

Fantastic experience: First time at a climbing gym. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a great time. Nice facility. Clean bathroom's. Will definitely be back. UPDATE: My wife and I have become members of the gym. My wife is enjoying yoga sessions while I enjoy climbing. It is a very laid-back, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. They offer classes that are very helpful for beginners. The classes are small and personal. The list of pro's could go on. Well worth a visit.

Stoked you had a good time Wayd! Thank you for the kind words, see you again soon.

Jacob Beckham 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: This place is immaculate. The routes are really challenging and have an amazing variety, my only complaint is there weren't quite enough beginner routes but it's kind of a moot point since they have such a nice gym up top so my wife and I could mix up climbing with weight lifting. Really enjoyed this place and would tell anyone interested in climbing to come here while in town.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Hey Jacob, thank you for the kind review, you rock! Thanks, Nicolas, we will make sure to pass along your feedback to Mackenzie, I'm sure she'll be stoked to hear that you had fun!

Brett L 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Large gym with lots of high quality routes. I like how they do free top rope belay lessons. I edited my review after a large number of new routes were set. My only advise for the future would be to incrementally set new routes in sections (as I've seen here before), instead of one large batch after a long period of time (as was basically done this latest time). That way there is more continuous change, and less chance someone will go again after a month and see all the same routes.

Spire Climbing + Fitness - Main Facility

Thank you for the feedback Brett, we really appreciate it! You'll be happy to know that we just reset the majority of the north gym top ropes on Tuesday/Wednesday and have the south gym on the docket for the week after next. We aim to have fresh plastic on the top rope walls every 6-weeks, with our bouldering routes staying up for 4-weeks at a time. Additionally, come January, we are getting a huge batch of new holds that will help us make the climbing experience the best it can be. All that being said, we'll be sure to pass your feedback on to our setting crew. As always, thank you for being a customer!
Cheers,
Ty @ Spire

Fantastic experience: With the expanded Walltopia section, a full range of campus boards, high quality free weights and a diverse offering of yoga classes this is hands down the BEST gym in Bozeman. This is the place to get fit with a supportive community and challenge yourself. Spire also offer a full range of climbing gear - from ice climbing, trad climbing, harnesses, shoes and intro packages take a look at the selection. Members get a discount - which always helps. It is time to climb!

Positive experience: One of my favorite places in all of Bozeman (right up with my home :-). Large facility, friendly and helpful staff, lots of free and cheap climb-educational opportunities for members. I took off a star for one reason: the routes aren't taped. I very much dislike that, although I understand it is expensive to tape routes. There are frequently multiple routes with similarly colored rocks close to one another...a bit frustrating. Still, they have my membership for a long while.
