Negative experience: This is an ok facility. Feel like 24hr and Crunch are 1 star, this is in the middle, and Lifetime is at the top. Bit overpriced for what you pay for, but it’s not a bad gym. Classes are alright, gym and decor are a bit dated, and things are always in need of repair. The steam room has been closed for over a week and not one of the 5 employees I’ve asked can tell me when it might be fixed. Also, they clean the steam room and showers in the middle of the day and the smell of the cleaner burns my throat. I wish they’d do that after hours or before they open and not while members are trying to use the facilities throughout the day. Vibe is interesting. Mostly older folks, a few younger working professional types, a handful of college age kids, and then hoards of children that come to swim starting at 4 pm. They do have towels in the locker rooms, put on fun events for the members every once in a while, and I do appreciate the staff; just wanna keep it real. Far from ideal and a bit overpriced, but that seems that’s world we live in nowadays.

Negative experience: It’s a decent gym but they keep it way too hot, especially in the summer. It’s a pretty expensive membership as well, so it’s unfortunate to pay so much for it to be so hot while working out.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the Colorado Athletic Club! The facility is great and welcoming, a great environment to work out in. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible team. Everyone, from the friendly front desk staff to the amazing instructors, makes you feel like part of a community they always make classes engaging! Fantastic experience: Flatirons is one of the best clubs I’ve been to! They have so many amazing programs like pickleball and so many classes. Mary does an amazing job putting so many great group fitness classes together. The staff is great and I love working out here.

Negative experience: The accounting and charges to member is very messy! Over charged my account and always no reply to my request. Not recommend to anybody. Updated on May 03. Some of the reviews are really true. After I cancelled the membership, CAC CHARGED my credit card again!!!! Be aware!!

Fantastic experience: This athletic club is a great facility, featuring one of the only outdoor saline pools in the area. The locker rooms are impressively well-maintained, especially considering the high volume of daily visitors. While some members don’t always clean up after themselves, that’s no reflection on the facility itself. The club offers a wide variety of equipment to meet different fitness needs, along with multiple studios for classes like yoga. There’s even a small café and snack area for convenience. I wish I had checked it out sooner—some reviews made it seem far worse than it actually is. The staff is friendly and helpful, making for an overall positive experience.

Positive experience: I took off a star, because I really wish I could swim in the evenings after work hours, but both pools except 1 lane are taken up by kids’ swim teams. I’ve been working around it all this time, but it is really frustrating that you have to come during work hours. Why can’t they have the kids only take up half of each pool? Or put all the kids in one pool? Why do they get to dominate evening all week long? And if you want to swim before work, the swim teams take up 4 mornings as well. And then they even have swim team twice on Saturday. Enough with the swim teams, man. If not for this annoying issue, it is a wonderful gym with wonderful people.

Negative experience: So I am writing this review because I was using this gym while I was doing work in the area. Nice gym and what not. But when I was done with my work there I told them to please cancel my membership and I recently just realized that 6 months later they were still billing my card every month. So I called the gym yesterday and the gentleman told me sorry about that just and was like yep you have not used the club in 6 months. He told me to call accounting so he gave me the number and I called left a message. Well a lady called me back today and was like sorry you did not give a written notice so nothing they can do about that. But we will make an exception and return the charge that was just made. So they way she said it was like here we are doing you a favor. Just bad customer service and literally I don’t live there , have not used the club and because someone did not do there job on there end I have to pay for it . Nice gym but if this is how you treat your customers not good at all

Positive experience: I have noted the employees are nice and friendly and willing to help if questions. There is a lot of space considering the basketball court. I do miss the rachet ball court. The club should install an outdoor hot tub near the outdoor pool. Look at future ways to remove the chlorine from the pools. Overall I am happy with the CAC.

Negative experience: I have been a member of Flatirons for many years, and have loved swimming outside all year round. I am extremely upset by the onslaught of swimmers from the recently closed CAC. What used to be a lovely, peaceful swim workout has become very stressful, given the number of new lap swimmers trying to squeeze into the limited lanes available. And the lap swim hours have also been reduced, due to the extra swim team and masters programs. I now dread swimming at Flatirons. Most of the "older" swimmers, (long term lap swimmers at Flatirons), feel the same way. Some have stopped swimming, due to the new, extremely crowded situation. Our membership fees have remained the same, but our experience at Flatirons has been greatly changed for the worse. It is truly a shame that the loyal, long term members of Flatirons feel that they can no longer swim outside, and that the club has done nothing to make things better, (such as extending the lap swim hours), except to advise swimmers to be considerate of each other. I would not recommend joining this club if you are a lap swimmer.

We have several projects in the works to make the club brighter, open, etc. and we feel most swimmers are finding out when the best time to swim is, or have gotten used to circle swimming with others. Negative experience: I had membership for the Athletic Club of Boulder on 30th street which closed on Oct. 31, and membership transferred over to the Flatirons Athletic Club. Unfortunately the Flatirons indoor pool is not like the Boulder pool and it is much worse.: 1. Boulder's pool was salt water - Flation's pool is Chlorinated. 2. Boulder's pool was much longer, Flation's pool is much shorter 3. Flation's pool block off a lot of lanes from use for private classes - this never happened in Boulder. I canceled my membership. Also staff not that friendly and don't really know much when I asked questions. I'll find another salt water pool in Boulder and will update this posting with that info when I find one. Do NOT recommend this gym.

Fantastic experience: Wow! This club is so nice and clean and plenty of open space! Everyone is so nice and friendly and there's a ton of different machines so its easy to get any type of workout in. Do yourself a favor and get a tour with Megan, she's wonderful! You wont regret it!

Negative experience: I joined this gym with high hopes, but it's been nothing short of a disappointment. The state of neglect here is evident in every corner. The men's locker room is molding and the paint is peeling due to improper ventilation. The showers have broken and missing tiles. The tennis courts are in desperate need of resurfacing, making a game almost impossible. The children's play area outside is more of a weed garden now. It is also impossible to swim in the evenings due to children's swim teams taking up 9 out of 10 lanes in the two pools. But what truly astounds me is the lack of common decency and respect from corporate management. They've clearly prioritized profits over the well-being of their facility and members. It's disheartening because the front-of-house employees are wonderful. They're caught in the crossfire of corporate decisions that have let this place fall into disrepair. I really wanted to like this gym, but with decisions made at the corporate level, I can no longer support this company. It's a shame, but my membership here will soon be history.

As the racquet sport interests continue to change, we are fine-tuning our plans to present the best outdoor setting for tennis and pickleball. Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for about four months, and I love it! There is a great variety of both cardio and weight equipment, as well as areas for court sports and an indoor track. I also like that there are both indoor and outdoor pool options, with very pleasant temperatures. There are classes and swim teams scheduled in both pools, but I've always been able to get a lane either for myself or to share with my teenager. The women's locker room is spa-like, with a sauna, hot tub, and really nice products. The facility also has snacks, juices, and protein shakes available from Boulder Juicery, which is really nice if you need a little extra pick-me-up during or after a workout. There is a hang-out area with tables and armchairs up front, where I sometimes like to hang out with a cup of coffee just because it's nice. But... it's the people that make this place really exceptional! The staff makes an effort to know your name, and everyone is very friendly. I also work with a personal trainer once a week, and he is fantastic! There are usually trainers around, and you can ask questions about equipment, etc. The club occasionally has community events too, like the Labor Day BBQ, which was really fun!

Positive experience: Nice big clean lots of daylight and plenty of equipment. The only thing I don't like it is not really set up like club meaning there's no place to sit and socialize the only coed facility is the outdoor pool I like swimming there I like being there I don't like and I've been there six times and have not met anyone. In an area conducive to socializing.

Negative experience: WiFi has been spotty or non existent for months. Every time I inquire about it I get told something along the lines of "we're waiting to hear back from Comcast" or "yeah, it's been a little flaky the last few days". It doesn't seem like WiFi access should be a tall order in 2023. Edit: I guess I should also say the outdoor pool is amazing. Although it is often filled with kids on swim club, when you can get in it isn't too hot, the water is clean and the surroundings are great.

Negative experience: Probably great if you have kids or enjoy swimming, not great for anything else. I had very negative experiences with the personal trainers. I spent a few weeks calling trying to get in touch with management to discuss the issue and never heard back. Apparently the manager leaves or is "in a meeting" in the evening, so I was never able to speak with them in person either. This gym has a thriving youth swim program. Good for them, but this means that the locker rooms are full of wet kids from about 4pm-7pm. The sauna and hot tub are in the locker room, so it can be difficult if you're trying to relax in either of those places. The hot tub is often not working. The fitness class schedule is very limited outside of typical working hours (i.e. after 5pm). However, this means that the fitness rooms are usually empty, so it's easy to find space to workout. Unfortunately, the WiFi doesn't extend to the second floor, so you have to download music or online classes if you want to use a fitness room or walk around the track. The building is a brick fortress so cell reception is hit or miss. All that said, the weight room is usually pretty empty and I've never had trouble getting on cardio or other equipment. The fitness classes are ok if you have flexible schedule. This is in the contract but easy to miss - if you want to cancel, you have to give a 30 day notice. This means you have to pay for the month that you're currently in, plus a full additional month. You cannot cancel your membership if it is frozen. You have to unfreeze, pay for a month to give your 30 day notice, then you can cancel.

Hello, Jill and thank you for reaching out. It looks like you were working with a trainer who left CAC. Our Personal Training Manager worked to accommodate your last session with a new trainer. We would still honor this even though your membership has cancelled.

We do have youth programming in the evening and the participants do use the locker room to go to and from swim practice. We have had pump issues with the hot tub, but I haven’t had to close it down in quite a while.

We have also added two new classes to the evening studio fitness schedule that began in January. We have added classes and expanded our hours as our members return to the club.

We go over the cancellation policy, in detail when joining the club. It is something that has to initialed. We did receive your cancellation on 12.16.22 and processed accordingly.

Negative experience: I live next door to this club, with their pool adjacent to my apartment complex. Since I moved in here in 2017, they persist in playing their music so loud it adversely affects the “peaceful pleasure of my home”. I can’t sit on my patio to read, listen to my own music from inside my apartment, or enjoy the peaceful nature of our neighborhood. Flatirons Athletic Club has no regard or respect for their place in our neighborhood. It makes me hate listening to KBCO!

Negative experience: I wanted to cancel membership because of the back surgery I had. Club representative convinced me to pause it until I'm recovered. My surgery didn't go well and I never got a chance to get back to the club, but six months later I got $564 bill from them. What a creepy place.

Fantastic experience: Worked out at Colorado Flatirons in Boulder recently. Plenty of new equipment, clean, friendly staff. Played a little basketball with locals. Got a great workout in and plan to start going here more often.

Positive experience: I only swim here. The outdoor pool is clean and appropriate temperature. I've never had an issue here. No hot tub like Boulder location but I'm here to swim so no big deal. The kids play area is nice and we've brought them here to splash around a few times. The indoor pool is clean and a nice temperature, but the floors outside the pool are literally falling apart. That would be fine except the floor is made of glued together pebbles and the pebbles are all over and hurt like hell when you step on them barefoot. For $120+/month the floor needs to be redone completely or resealed so it's not like stepping on legos. I feel like 3.5 stars is more accurate (7/10), but picked 4 just to be nice. They definitely are not an 8/10 club, but 6/10 seems off too.

Negative experience: I want to start off by saying my review is based solely off experience with the company's account professionals and their billing department. The gym itself is exactly what it appears. A mediocrely equipped overpriced athletic club, but they don't hide that fact. Now for my experience with the absolute train-wreck of a business they are running. I signed a 1yr contract when I lived walked distance from the gym. During that time, it was a nice convenient gym, at a rather steep price, but I knew that going into it. After 1 year, they wanted to up the price since I was no longer a new member, and after a few month to month payments, I opted to cancel my membership after discussions with an account manager in their office on site. I should have known how poor of a service they are running after a friend went to inquire about a new membership, and had a meeting with a professional in an office with a belly up fish in a fishbowl on the desk! Fast forward almost 18 months, and I received a phone-call from collections attempting to collect on the athletic club account. After reaching out to the clubs billing department, I learned that the club only keeps their hard copy cancellation records for 6 months (funny how they waited until after this timeline to attempt to collect), after which the documents were destroyed; and the hard copy was never sent from the gym to their main office. This meant that my only way to avoid the charges, was to provide a carbon copy I was given, almost 2 years ago. Like most, I don't store receipts from a gym I once had a membership for, cancelled, and haven't lived near for well over a year. Due to the clubs incompetence to a) initially forward the cancellation documentation from the Flatirons location to the central billing department, and b) maintain their own membership records for a reasonable amount of time, I was forced to pay for a gym membership that I cancelled. Any reasonable business upon failure to charge an account, and after failure to contact the account owner, would have put the account on hold or termination, rather than continuing to rack up a bill every month and handing over to a collection agency. Which they waited until a length of time had passed where most people have tossed any paperwork they had, after the gym destroyed its own copy of the paperwork, and they had racked up a sufficient bill to make a large profit on collections. Long story short, this gym doesn't care about its members, they are just out to make as much money as they can, at any cost. One star is generous for my experience, and I highly advise anyone to stay away unless you are incredibly organized and ready to dispute a membership claim at any point in time. Even then, it's a mediocre gym, at a premium price. But hey, it's got a smoothie bar.

Negative experience: I love the instructors at CAC- Flatirons, all the classes are great. BUT the communication from the administration is horrible - I have been trying to cancel my membership and get a refund for charges that were not authorized for months. I continue to send e-mails and leave messages and the only response told me that I needed to talk with corporate and they would pass along the message to call me. Nothing. I have resorted to having my credit card payment stopped, and I am sure they will be in contact when they try to charge my credit card!

Negative experience: DONT TRUST THIS GYM WITH YOUR HEALTH This place lies through their teeth about everything. They lie about the policies and will try and scam every dollar they can from you. They told me in March I could cancel my membership due to covid which i did and now find they are still billing me hundreds of dollars. Today i got a notice they tried to charge an old card a 15 only late fee for a balance i dont have and then charged a 25 dollar returned payment fee. The payment wasnt returned, it was declined because you used an old card. They have been doing this for months i see now and the charging a late fee on the returned payment and the a returned payment on the late fee. NEVER TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY

Negative experience: I was a member here since before it was bought by CAC. Never had any problems until I had to put my membership on hold because of the pandemic. I care for an 87 year old relative so did not feel comfortable going to the gym. First I had problems with them putting my membership on hold and keeping it on hold. They charged my cc the full monthly fee even after I said my membership was on hold. They never refunded my money. Then I decided that I would just cancel my membership. They told me I couldn't because my membership was on hold and in order to cancel I would have to reinstate my membership by paying $100. When I refused to pay they started sending me threatening letters and charging me ridiculous finance charges. I talked to someone again and was told if I just paid $100 they would drop all the finance charges but I'm still getting invoices for all the finance charges. It feels like a bad break up with a psychopathic ex.

Negative experience: DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP!!! They overcharged me and NEVER gave me my money back. I sent several email and met with the Director of Sales & Membership. He said he would take care of it within two days; a year has passed and I never got my money back. I emailed again and the Director is now denying they owe me that money. Zero accountability. Thank you for reaching out. I have taken a look at your membership account and all corresponding information. It looks like you were charged full membership rate as we never received Proof of Cohabitation for your membership prior to the deadline/membership dues draft. Once received in late September we issued a credit to your membership account for the difference in dues for September. This resulted in a $70 dues credit being applied to your October charge. With that credit, we draft $24 as your normal monthly dues amount was $94. You were also only drafted $94 in November with your membership cancellation December 1. Negative experience: I haven’t had any issues with this place until the last month. Multiple treadmills have not been working and after voicing the concern every single day that I have been there they have still yet to be fixed. Reached out today, for the 8th ish time to let them know, and still nothing. They didn’t even put a sign up to state the treadmill was not working. I get it takes a while to fix these things, but it’s the middle of the winter and the price of this place per month for membership fees could buy all new treadmills.

Negative experience: If you want a club to get a swim workout don't go here. It's not unusual to have issues with the temperature of the outdoor pool and other maintenance issues such as chlorine level and cleanliness of the pool. The outdoor pool schedule as of this morning wasn't accurate with respect to coaches and (as rumored) class length, availability, and number of lanes. Since we can't get a straight answer from management it's really hard to know. If you read reviews you'll get the accurate impression that management at this club leaves much to be desired. Stay away.

Negative experience: Horrible- run badly and without regard for members- everything from the pool to the showers are always broken - you can’t speak to anyone that cares or does anything With plenty of options available in Boulder - rum from this place as fast as you can

Negative experience: I'd watch out. This is not the family friendly gym you want to take your kids too! With so many choices in Boulder, don't chose this one! The morally, unethical decisions made by the staff are disgusting.

Negative experience: Happened today 10/22. I changed my membership from the Boulder to the Flatiron location. I was told by Sales that the Flatiron location is typically $10 less than the Boulder location BUT he was calculating my fee based of the HIGHEST REGIONAL price which is $135 and because I have a discount through my employer he ended up leaving my monthly fee pretty much the same. This doesn’t see correct as the flatiron facility is smaller and has less features compared to the Boulder facility. I’ll be submitting my cancellation. I’m disappointed about the explanation they gave me about the Regional pricing when I thought it should’ve been a transparent change of price between locations. I’ve been a member since 2016 and I even put up with a $10/month increase one year but I was very dissatisfied with the price adjustment. There are better options in the area.

Negative experience: Really crowded and the membership is kind of sheisty. They do have an indoor pool. It’s sad that they acquired flatirons athletic club because that was actually a good gym. The facility is clean though. Not the best at all

Negative experience: This is a review not about the facility, but about the horribly unempathetic people managing it. When signing up for a membership, I was told by the sales person I could cancel my membership at any time despite signing a 12-month agreement. However, when I tried to cancel my membership after six months, the Director of Sales refused. I'm happy to assume the sales person simply made a mistake, but the Sales Director refused to even acknowledge the misunderstanding and would do nothing to help me. Instead, he was intent on fleecing me out of six more months of membership dues, which are quite high at $117/month. For half that price, you could join any of the Rec Centers in the Boulder area and you'd be supporting better people at a better business.

Negative experience: For the price, there are much better options. I ended up canceling within the first week but still waiting for my billing credit. Typical corporate gym experience. The staff was very indifferent compared to the new gym I’m at now.

Negative experience: Nice facility, but the billing department is incompetent and dishonest. I was charged for two months after cancelling my pass, and corporate would only refund on month (despite me receiving confirmation from multiple individuals that I wouldn't be charged). Can't speak enough about the dishonesty here. Find a different gym.

Our accounting department did speak with you yesterday to let you know we did not receive your cancellation from the club in a timely manner. We also let you know we processed your cancellation effective July 1, 2019 and refunded your July membership dues. I apologize that this doesn't meet your expectations. We value your feedback and we will consider your comments so we can better serve our Members and guests in the future.

Positive experience: Nice facilities and great yoga classes. Their customer service is pretty terrible, however. Lots of runaround and waiting for responses. The front desk person can't actually assist with anything, they have to direct you to someone else for all questions, booking, cancellations, etc. which makes things take forever. Overall a nice gym as long you don't actually need to speak to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Nice facility! The personal training staff is really helpful and has never once pressured me into buying personal training. I hate huge gyms and this one is just the right size - I feel super comfortable there. The yoga studio is great too! Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Great classes!! :) Small, intimate, hometown feel that you can't find in other clubs in town. I've been a member at most. If you want community, as well as a workout - this club is for you. Front desk staff and childcare are so kind. Personal Trainers know what they are doing. Heated outdoor pool. Spa in each locker room w/ hot tub, sauna, and steam room- ohh yah man!

Positive experience: My review is focused on the tennis program. The addition of Travis Ervick as the tennis program director is a huge improvement. Travis is eager to get people out on the courts so he held a number of clinics, social gatherings, etc. throughout the summer which were well attended and a lot of fun. A new ball machine would be a great addition to the program, as would continuous clinics. Travis has helped to make tennis a viable part of the CAC -Flatirons membership and I hope it continues to grow. I've also noticed that the front desk staff seems to be more knowledgeable and friendly-however, during the 18 months I've been a member there have been 3 different managers-the turnover is not good. Matt needs to make himself known to the members-he should be interacting with members throughout the day, encouraging them to give him feedback on improvements for the club as well as his staff.

Negative experience: This was a great club, but unfortunately is now unsanitary and has the classic corporate high turnover and poor service all to common. With so many great clubs in the area you can do better for the same money. Beware of the high pressure sales too!

Negative experience: Small facility, but nice. Front desk staff are great. The GM, Matt Francis, is not. I had noticed an inequality in regards to equipment for men and women and was told to reach out to him. It’s been 2 weeks, and I have gotten no reply or seen no change. For example, there are 11 men’s basketballs, 8 children’s basketballs, but only ONE women’s basketball. I have never once seen 11 men use all 11 basketballs at one time, but I can imagine a time where more than one woman would like to play basketball, or run drills with two basketballs, and cannot do so but the men can. A real shame that a face of their facility, Matt Francis, is not responsive to a gender-based equality issue. Update: Matt Francis replied, but with an email that just says “sorry, basketballs were ordered.” Never acknowledged the issue. Horrible representation for the facility.

Positive experience: I love to workout here! They have so many things going on here and many machines to choose from & a pool with workout activities going on constantly. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because they are constantly raising their prices it seems that about every few months their prices are getting higher and higher.

Positive experience: No water in locker rooms and I'd rather have key based locks like the one on 30th st. Anyone can see your code as you enter it.

Negative experience: Inquired about transferring as I moved to Denver and was told by a staff member "You'll have to go to the other club to find out their rates / etc. but my best advice is don't EVER cancel with us because it's a real pain" .. I provided 30 days notice per the agreement and the parent company, WellBridge Inc., still tried to come after me 4 months later for ~$400 with all of these late fees and CC declined fees (they conveniently waited 4 months to let me know this). They were extremely rude and said I was being referred to a collection agency (never have had this before in my life) and they hung up on me. Fortunately, I saved my emails -- if you do join, give them a copy in writing and save it when you cancel, and contact the corporate office when you cancel. Their communication is abysmal / non-existent. Furthermore, they never acknowledged my extra $15 off a month I was supposed to get through my healthcare, and they made the process as difficult as possible and blamed everything on my healthcare provider -- when I reached out to my provider, I found out that they had never even been contacted! After investing multiple hours over multiple weeks, I admit that I finally gave up pursuit of this discount (exactly what the gym wanted). While I was there, we were kicked off the basketball for a high school Volleyball team, despite the fact that basketball had been going on at that time for YEARS. Showers were constantly out of order and there was only 1 shower in 10 w/ good water pressure. My understanding is that it used to be better but now it has a very corporate feel and I would recommend finding somewhere else: I can honestly say this is the worst experience I have ever had with a gym (and I've been a member of ~8-10 gyms in my life time). They will be the nicest people in the world to you until you sign that contract, and then you're just another number to be collected from.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy the variety of yoga classes offered at CAC - Flatirons. Jessica, Renee, and Annie are energetic but also caring and attentive. Their classes challenge me and I always feel like I accomplished a great workout when I leave.

Negative experience: Flatirons sold out to a big corporation, they have so many customers, they cannot treat them individually...they just send out computer generated letters. Watch out for big increases in your subscription. Very sad to see a local institution go global...

Negative experience: Called to get pricing information - they refused to give it to me. They wanted me to wait for a 'membership team member' to call me later in the day. All I wanted was an idea of the cost..... There should be no run-around with that simple of a question. They obviously just wanted to give me a whole schpeel to get me to join. If you have to ask, you can't afford it. They obviously aren't 'proud' of their price or they would list it on their website, or at least be forthcoming when you call them. Never been in, but that left a BAD TASTE in my mouth.
