Boulder Rock Club: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Great place, interesting route, friendly staff!
Positive experience: Great, indoor rock climbing. One of the best in the country. Plenty of parking.
Positive experience: Staff was unperfessoinal and quite rude, even though me and my buddy were technically 5 months under the gym requirement we had lifted there for months, I do understand a warning. But then proceeded to be kicked out in a rude and unprofessional manner. We previously had no issues, caused no disturbances and remained respectful to the space. Besides this event boulder rock club is a awesome facility and place.
Hi Charlie,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and give us your feedback.
We think it is really cool that you and your friend are into working out at a young age. We apologize that our weight room has a minimum age requirement.
I have put 4 free Day Passes on your account for you and your friend. We hope you come work out when you are old enough for our weight room.
Cheers, BRC
Fantastic experience: Nice staff very helpful. Cool gym
Thanks for the 5 star review, Tyler! Come back to climb with us soon!
Fantastic experience: Route setting is really inclusive and great for short climbers. I'm 5'4" with a -1 ape and could climb 90% of the routes without having holds completely out of my reach.
Hi Solace! Thank you for the 5 star review! We are thrilled that you found the routes to be accessible for you. We believe that height-inclusive routesetting is essential to the climbing community and reach checking is our jam! See you next time!
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Feels old school. There's a slide from the top outs.
Hey Joshua! Thanks for the 5 star review. We love keeping the old school vibes too!
Fantastic experience: I don’t personally climb here but my kids have done every camp and are now in their after school clubs and they LOVE it! They are so happy - have become excellent climbers and are very engaged! Great, flexible camps and a fluid, engaging environment for kids!
Thank you Elizabeth! We love that your kids are thriving and have fallen in love with climbing! We hope that remain apart of the community for years to come!
Fantastic experience: My favorite gym in Boulder. As someone with a weird schedule I love the auto-belays. The staff is always so friendly, the routes are interesting and reset often, and the gym equipment is top notch. When I first moved to Boulder I spoke with the gentleman at the front desk for a few minutes and he remembered my name two weeks later when I returned. There is a real community feel here, and the fact that they have so many employees who have been there for many years shows that they take care of their people.
Hi Aidan, thank you for the 5 stars and the lovely review. Love that the autobelays help with your schedule and we love that you have the availability to climb your way on your time. You are also what makes our community great!
Fantastic experience: Never had a bad day at BRC. How could I? I mean, I was climbing.
Hey John! "The best climber is the one having the most fun", right? Thanks so much for that 5 star review!
Fantastic experience: Great staff and the gym is suitable for kids!
Thank you Oksana! We love supporting kids and their climbing journeys!
Fantastic experience: Super friendly. Not stinky as other gyms. Great vibe - great to see people from all ages climbing and having fun.
Thank you Alexander! Glad we can provide some stinky-less vibes for you and everyone! Climb on!
Negative experience: ***Unwelcoming and Unprofessional Behavior*** ***Defamatory Response by Kevin Bains Below*** This is my first Google review, and unfortunately, it’s not a positive one. I recently visited Boulder Rock Club while exploring local climbing gyms. Upon arrival, I urgently needed to use the restroom. I was almost at the bathroom when a staff member loudly yelled out, asking where I was going, and told me that I needed to inform him before using it, which felt unnecessary given the situation. A minute later, the general manager, Kevin Bains, approached me in the restroom with more questions, mentioning issues they’ve had with homeless individuals using the facilities. I found this irrelevant and insulting, especially since I don’t remotely look homeless—though, even if I did, I would hope for more respect than Kevin Bains offered. I shared that I was visiting after witnessing the loss of a friend in a climbing accident and was hoping to find a welcoming community. Instead of offering empathy, Kevin told me this gym would not be a welcoming environment for me and asked me to leave. He also seemed more focused on my choice of words when expressing frustration than addressing the situation itself. As someone with years of climbing experience and involvement in the community as a respected member, I’ve never encountered such an unwelcoming atmosphere at a gym. If you're looking for a supportive and respectful environment, I’d recommend exploring other options. ***Update: Defamatory Response and Request for Transparency*** After posting my initial review regarding my unpleasant experience at Boulder Rock Club, I was surprised to see the response from the management, specifically from Kevin Bains, which contains several inaccuracies and misrepresentations of what occurred during my visit. Rather than handling the situation professionally, Kevin’s response paints me as an angry customer who yelled at, threatened, and insulted others—claims that are completely inaccurate. I came to the gym seeking solace after the loss of a friend, hoping for a welcoming environment, but instead, I have been met with defamation. In the interest of transparency and fairness, I have formally requested video footage from the lobby to clarify the actual events. This footage will show that the portrayal of my actions in their response is not accurate, and I hope it will lead to a more truthful and professional discussion. I stand by my original review, which reflects my genuine experience, and I hope the management will reconsider how they handle such situations in the future, addressing concerns with more respect and accuracy.
I'm sorry we had such a poor interaction with you today, but you acted inappropriately in our facility, cursed at multiple staff members and frightened others.
For some reason, you refused to check in with our front desk staff. We ask everyone that comes into our gym to check in with the front desk. When we asked you multiple times "may we help you?" as walked past the front desk, you got irritated with our staff for stopping you. You did finally tell us you needed to use the restroom. When the front desk staff replied, "OK, please just tell me that so I will know where you are going". You replied that you didn't know you had to explain yourself to others. This interaction was loud, out of line and silenced our busy lobby.
After this, when I asked you how we could help you, you instantly became confrontational with me and started cursing. I asked you not to curse as we had a lobby full of children. You replied that I could not tell you how to behave and then cursed directly at me in a threatening way.
I promptly asked you to leave as you were quite agitated and angry. Upon leaving, you decided to curse at and insult the front desk employees as you walked past.
We believe we are a friendly and welcoming community. Our staff works hard to provide great customer service and you were disrespectful to them within the first 20 seconds of walking in our doors. It is my job to preserve the integrity of our members, guests, children and staff; your behavior was inappropriate, thus your dismissal from our gym.

Fantastic experience: Such a cool place! Friendly and welcoming staff. I spent the day exploring Boulder on my own, so I was happy to find a gym nearby with autobelays… & they had SO many options for autobelays hitting all levels of difficulty, I was pleasantly surprised! Spaces were clean, as well
Thank you so much, Danielle! We love that you were able to find a variety of auto belayable routes during your visit. We hope you visit again soon!
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym with friendly staff and patrons. No contracts and they make canceling/restarting simple.
Hey Benjamin! Thanks for the 5 star review! We want the membership process to be the easiest part of the climbing experience - save the challenge for the wall!
Fantastic experience: My fave climbing gym in Boulder. I love the self-belay. Good way to get a good work out without having to meet with a partner. Also a great place to meet partners! They have a couple of weight rooms and some classes if that’s your gig. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Hey Rhonda! Thank you for the 5 star review! The autobelays are one of our favorite features too and we are always looking for ways for people to meet new partners!
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience! I have been coming to this gym for 5 years and they are amazing! Best crimp holds ever...
Thank you Dianna! We love our crimpy routes and thank you for all your support over the years!
Fantastic experience: Good vibes!
Thanks for the 5 stars Amber! We thank you for bringing those good vibes!
Fantastic experience: Really awesome rock climbing gym in boulder. Well maintained and set.
Thank you for your 5 star review Branton! We pride ourselves on having the highest route concentration and turnover in the Front Range and love to continue to produce some great routesetting for you!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great staff
Thank you for your review, Annemarie! We are so grateful to have you in the BRC community!

This amazing rock climbing gym boasts authentic fue rock walls made of concrete, offering climbers a truly immersive and exhilarating experience. From challenging routes for seasoned climbers to easier paths for beginners, there's something for everyone to enjoy. For those flying solo, the gym offers 11 auto belays, allowing climbers to tackle the walls without the need for a partner. It's a fantastic way to stay active and engaged, even if you're climbing solo. Families with kids will find the upstairs kids section to be a true gem. Hi Patrick, thank you so much for your 5 stars and very poetic review. ❤️
Fantastic experience: I discovered rock climbing for the first time in my life thanks to this club. My family and I are from Moscow and have never encountered mountains before. But looking at the surrounding mountains in Boulder and thanks to this club, our family fell in love with rock climbing.
Hi Lev! Thank you for your 5 star review! We love that you've joined our community and share our same passion for climbing!
Fantastic experience: BRC is pretty solid. The gym area is really nice, far surpassing The Spot Boulder (the other climbing gym BRC is usually being compared too). And unlike Movement Boulder, BRC has auto-belays so you don't need a partner to rope climb. BRC also has a small lounge area where you could theoretically work from (free WIFI) and free coffee and tea for members every morning until 11am. The biggest downside to BRC I'd say is that it's really a rope-climbing gym. The bouldering area has a lot to be desired if comparing it to The Spot. Which in BRC's defense, The Spot Boulder is a bouldering-specific gym. And though there are auto-belays, there's only about 1/2 dozen (I think?) so unless you have a partner to climb with most the climbing is inaccessible to you. On a side note, I do find the crowd at BRC about 20'ish years older than that at The Spot too. I received a free week at BRC after taking one of their belay classes and thoroughly enjoyed my time. Hey Chase! Thank you for your 5 star and very detailed review! We pride ourselves in having all around great fitness options and we're so happy that it is appreciated! While we wish we could improve upon our bouldering area and its angles, we try to make up for that with a fast 4 week turnover for new boulders and purchasing new holds frequently to keep things fresh and exciting!
We additionally love that our community is diverse in its demographics compared to other gyms in the area: you can meet someone who has climbed for over 20 years and someone brand new to the community! Hope to see you around and thank you again!
Fantastic experience: Great for climbers
Thanks for the 5 stars Ivo! We think you're great too!
Fantastic experience: My wife and I love this place! Friendly staff, nice amenities, complicated problems and just a good vibe!
Hey Nolan! Thank you so much for your 5 star review. We are so happy that we can be a great place for you and your wife to climb and feel all the good vibes!
Positive experience: Good Climbing Bouldering Cent was different style than regular Bouldering gyms. Walls are pretty low in the Bouldering area. But overall good Climbing in this gym.
Hey Jack, thank you for your positive review! We're glad you enjoyed the routesetting and unique bouldering experience at our gym. We think our Expansion/Arena boulder is pretty tall, but for the Main Room bouldering? Good things come in small...caves?! HA!
We would love to hear your suggestions on how we can earn those 5 stars! Hope to see you again soon!
Fantastic experience: My favorite gym for over 20 years. I’m so grateful for all the great staff, awesome routes and all the climbers who make the experience at the BRC so awesome.
Thank you Ted, not only for your review but also for being such an amazing member of our community!
Fantastic experience: We have loved climbing here. Looked into Movement as well, but BRC has more bouldering, is generally less crowded, and feels a lot less competitive while still having some really fun/hard routes. Gonna miss this place when we move!
Hey Kennedy! Thanks so much for you 5 star review! We are going to miss you as well!
Fantastic experience: Best vibes in boulder for a climbing gym
Hey Jack! Thanks for the 5 star review! You are one of the reasons for all those positive vibes!
Fantastic experience: Great experience! We came in the morning, did the lead test, then we bouldered and did top rope and lead. The quality of the routesetting and the holds was very good. The staff was friendly. The mats were good quality. The walls are a bit slippery, old school style. There was not a lot of visual appeal among the routes, but they all ended up being fun. The grading was accurate for what you'd expect for a gym around here. The day pass without gear was $25. I liked the natural light in the facility. They have an amazing kids area, which I did not utilize but saw they have many routes and even a real rock wall.
Thank you for your review Eliot! It's a good reminder that routes don't always have to look good to climb GREAT! We hope to see you again soon!
Fantastic experience: My first gym membership in boulder. Love the smaller less busy vibes
Welcome to the community, Alex! Thank you for the 5 star review and we're psyched you're loving it!
Fantastic experience: The BEST staff, vibe, and route setting! Also appreciate the auto belays.
Hey Lindsey! Thanks for the 5 stars! Your hype is part of the reason that makes the vibe so great!
Fantastic experience: Favorite climbing gym. Best staff and less pretense than other nearby places. Setting is always super fun and fresh.
Thank you for reviewing, Harold! We pride ourselves on keeping those new projects a'comin'!
Fantastic experience: Boulder Rock Club has an Amazing staff and the climbs are well rated. They have great Boulder problems, 8 auto-belays, kids walls, and good work-out machines and free weights. I LOVE BRC!!
Thank you for your amazing review, Kevin!
Fantastic experience: Great routes and the friendliest most fun rock climbing gym in boulder. Love it here
Thank you for your review, Julie! We love YOU here!
Fantastic experience: We have been coming here for over a year now, and love it. We took the intro to climbing course and haven’t looked back since. It’s such a fun workout physically and mentally. The staff is great and so is the community here.
Love this Ashley! Thank you so much for your review! Looking forward to hearing about your continued climbing progress!
Fantastic experience: Great TR, lead and bouldering options. A clean workout space, matched perfectly with a friendly and inviting staff. They've gone out of their way to help me and I'll always refer friends and fam to climb at BRC.
Love this Bonnie! Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: No bad vibes here… Excellent route setting, and one of the best weight rooms in any climbing gym. The least pretentious gym option in the front range!
Jonathan! Thanks for the 5 star review! We love the vibes you bring to us!
Fantastic experience: The best climbing gym in Boulder! Staff are always super kind, and the routes are great. Well worth checking out!
Thanks Tucker! That's awesome of you to say!
Positive experience: It's a fine climbing gym. Good fitness equipment. Not great, not terrible. The vibe is kinda flat.
Thanks for the review Drew! We'd love to know how we can pass the vibe check! Feel free to leave us more feedback at [email protected] and earn that 5th star!
Fantastic experience: Has an old school climbing gym vibe, I love it. My favorite parts are the friendly staff, awesome fully equipped weight room, and auto belays. Lead climbing walls are shorter than other gyms in the area but quality is good!
Love this! Thank you Annie!
Fantastic experience: Nice gym. Good use of space for its size. Has everything you need in a climbing gym.
Thanks for your review Max!
Positive experience: The setting offers a nice variety of climbing styles. They set climbs through the week so there is always something new to try. Routes are up for long enough to project, but not too long so I am never bored.
Thanks for the review Kelli! Let us know what we can do to make BRC better to earn your 5 star review!
Fantastic experience: Tons of climbing variety for all skill levels, bouldering, top rope (with autobelays), and lead.
Thanks for the review, Craig! We've got it all!
Fantastic experience: Best gym ever
Woot woot! Thanks Brent! You're the best!
Positive experience: Old, outdated, and bit dirty. The climbs are short and they haven’t bought a new hold since 1996 it seems. The setting is decent, the staff is good and friendly, and the culture is pretty great and welcoming. However with the other gyms so close in the area, it feels bit like this gym is stuck in time. I feel like I get more from Amy other gym around. Update: Pushed another star in there. they replied to my review quickly, which demonstrates they care what their climbers really think. As mentioned, staff and culture here are quite good.
Hello Eamon! We love that you enjoyed our route setting and culture that creates such an amazing community to climb with. We are the original gym in Boulder. So yeah, we are older; more experienced if you will. We regularly re-invest in our facility and do our best to make improvements annually. This year we purchased new, high efficiency coolers for the climbing area, new elliptical machine and new stationary bike. We buy holds at a minimum each quarter and try out new hold companies regularly. We have been locally owned since we started in 1991 and have used the same, small local company to clean and disinfect our facility each night.
We have a few wrinkles here and there, but we have dedicated staff and owners that put in the work every day to be the best gym we can with an aging building.
We hope you will give us another try and introduce yourself when you do. We would love to climb with you.
Fantastic experience: Best rock club in town.
Thanks Jonathan! Hope to see you soon!
Negative experience: Had a poor experience with my visit here. 26$ is an absurd price for a day pass. Why can’t you use that cash to fix the AC. It’s so humid in the gym I walked in and my glasses genuinely fogged up. It smelled really bad, even for a gym. The route setting was uninspired at best.
Hi Fax,
Thanks for your review. Based on the timing, looks like you came in while we were upgrading (or just before we upgraded) our air-conditioning to new, high efficiency models. We had about a week during that install that our temperatures were pretty bad and air flow was very low because the coolers were down. Now, with the upgraded coolers, it’s very nice, cool, with loads of fresh air being pumped into the gym. Hope you will return. Day Passes are $25 with discounts for students and youths.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in the boulder area. The routes are usually top notch, lots of options. It can sometimes be really hot inside and crowded but overall it’s worth it.
Thanks for the 5 stars, Amber! We just upgraded our AC to new high efficiency models so we hope that this cools things off for you!
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, excellent route setting. The best community there is for a gym in Boulder! A great workout room, moonboard, bouldering, and of course rope climbing!
Thanks for the review, Jeffrey! We also have excellent members like you!
Positive experience: Wonderful facility. Prices are for whole day only, no half day rates. It smells like feet when you walk in the door but the climbing area is well ventilated.
Thanks for your review, Melissa!
Fantastic experience: So rad. Good variety of sport/boulder problems with a lot of auto-belays for solo climbers. Kind staff, and a friendly community of climbers to boot.
Thanks for your review, Oliver! Our community is amazing thanks to people like you!
Fantastic experience: BRC has the best community atmosphere.
Thank you Jan! We love our community!
Fantastic experience: Nice gym. Good use of space for its size. Has everything you need in a climbing gym. Friendly staff, fun climbs (ropes and bouldering), training area, weight room, yoga room, plenty of hand sanitizer, etc.
Thanks Thaig3r! We hope to see you again soon!
Positive experience: Lots of routes and problems to choose from but man you really need to keep your head on a swivel and be aware of climbers above. So much packed into the space it could be overwhelming to some. The boulders don’t use V grading but I really liked how they were set. Next time I’m in town I hope it’s less crowded. Cheers
Hi BJ, thanks for the review! If we could make more space, we would but we'd like to think our busy-ness is indicative to our quality of climbing! We've got a guide to our bouldering grade in the lobby, so next time you visit, check that out!
Hope we can give you a 5 star experience next time you visit!
Fantastic experience: So I've been here in Colorado for about 2 years now and started climbing as a new climber at the BRC. I have also at times climbed at movement, the spot and Ubergrippen with friends in addition to climbing at other gyms out of state when I am not in Colorado. And let me tell you, the BRC is in a league of its own in terms of quality. It certainly isn't the biggest, newest, or flashiest gym but everything about it is top notch. I think the thing that is fantastic and distinctive with the BRC are the route setters. Other gyms just don't know how to do it. All the routes in the BRC are creative and thought out with lots of different varieties in terms of the type of difficulties you will face. Routes have a theme and a reason to exist in the way that they do. They feel awesome to climb unlike every other gym I have been to. Whatever the BRC does, I hope they continue to do it because it is awesome!
Thank you so much, Emily!
Fantastic experience: Very cool place to climb, lots of options.
Thanks Shad! We like to have it all!
Fantastic experience: The BRC is a Boulder tradition. People of all ages and abilities climb here. The staff is top notch and the route setting team never stops. The BRC also has a weight gym, yoga campus board and auto-belays, helpful for climbing solo. If you haven't climbed here, you're missing out.
Thank you, Stephen! Love this!
Fantastic experience: A fun place to wall climb. It has kids' areas, auto-belay, and bouldering. It's my favorite climbing gym so far.
Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed yourself!
Positive experience: A really nice place to climb. Routes are well done and diverse. People are friendly and the place has a welcoming vibe.
Thanks Jesse! We pride ourselves for our routesetting! Let us know what we can do for that 5th star!
Fantastic experience: Great place! Lots' of auto-belays allow climbing with no belay partner. The routes are pretty interesting too.
Thanks Maxim! Glad you enjoyed the facility!
Fantastic experience: A good gym that has been part of Boulder for many years. Very nice that they have autobelays.
Thank you Clayton! We love being so rooted in the Boulder community!
Fantastic experience: Awesome place to climb, workout and make friends!!! What a great community!!
Thank you for your review, Elif!
Positive experience: The routes here are well set, and fun. As a mainly outdoor trad climber, I have to cast a disbelieving eye at the route ratings, but of course that's neither here no there. The associated side-gym is rather small, so this should really be considered mainly a climbing gym overall, but it excels at that. It's a good way to stay in form when the blizzards are blowing.
Thanks for the review James! With peer-graded routes, there are always inconsistencies! But as long as they're fun, that's what counts!
Hopefully see you more this winter!
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym. Awesome staff. Great routes along with nice weight and stretching areas. Even a place to work if you want to be there all day.
Love this! Thanks Brian!
Fantastic experience: An all around fantastic climbing gym! Dynamic route setting, friendly staff, and the training gym actually has deadlift platforms/a variety of lifting equipment (a rarity at other gyms around the area). They also have solid technical classes for learning to lead, set anchors, etc. as well as bi-weekly yoga. Took their lead class a few weeks ago; our coach Corey was an encouraging teacher and the class made me so much more confident in my climbing! If you’re looking for a home gym in Boulder, this is the one!
Hi Sophia! We're so happy you're loving our classes! Thanks for the review!
Negative experience: I have been a member and supporting this business for over 15 years. It is extremely difficult to climb in a mask and it makes me dizzy and lightheaded because I have exercise induced asthma. There are plenty of businesses in Boulder and other counties who accept medical conditions for each client case by case and some gyms like Easton have approved mask exemptions from Boulder County for their entire facility. In restaurants all over the county people are sitting next to each other without masks at all yet in BRC where everyone is 20 plus feet apart with vaulted ceilings and giant exhaust fans running, they take a stand to permanently trespass a long term member when they see the mask pulled down below the nose. The American Disabilities Act protects individuals from this type of discrimination. There were quite a few people in the facility at the time of this incident with there masks down because the effort of climbing hard makes it almost impossible to wear it. However, I was the only one asked to put my mask up, asked to leave and later received the call from the manager that I was trespassed for not keeping my mask up the entire time in the facility. I did write you an email previously because BRC was requiring employees to wear masks for some time when there was no mandate in place. Several of them told me they did not want to wear them at that time but wanted to keep their jobs and not rock the boat. I sent Kevin the email (Aug 25) on their behalf a full week before the mandate went into effect (sept 1) so your business was not in fact at that time following any rules from the county or state but just your own. BRC is not fun and light hearted as it used to be. It is very uptight now. A couple of employees have made sarcastic rude remarks to me which I brought to the managers attention to no effect. I own one of the most successful and fastest growing businesses in Northern Colorado and have been sending clients to BRC for years. I have never received any appreciation or simple thank you so I stopped referring. I hope BRC in the future is able to rethink their management practices to reflect the needs and wishes of their employees and members.
Petra, it is unfortunate that we could not come to a mutual agreement regarding wearing masks in our facility. We know you have very strong beliefs about the science behind masks, but Boulder County’s Mask Mandate is still in place. We will miss you and Matt in our gym. You have been great customers.
On November 2, 2021, the management team at the Boulder Rock Club had to make a very difficult decision that negatively impacted a long term member. Matt Hoskin’s partner, Petra Stedronova has been a very vocal opponent of mask wearing in our facility, recently sending an email urging us to defy Boulder County Health Department’s orders and not enforce the required Mask Mandate. On several previous occasions, we have had to ask Petra to keep her mask on while in our facility.
On Nov 2, a staff member had to ask Petra multiple times to keep her mask on. Petra was defiant, rude and removed her mask repeatedly after the staff member was out of site. We received multiple complaints about her behavior from other members that day. It is for these actions we asked Petra not to return.
As a business in good-standing in Boulder County, we are required to uphold all Boulder County Health Department Mandates or we risk sanction, fines and possible closure of our business. We hope that when the mask mandates are gone, Petra and Matt can put aside their personal beliefs and climb with us again. They would be welcomed back.

Negative experience: My partner Petra has been a member of BRC for fifteen years and climbed there 3-4 times a week. Today she was "banned for life" by the manager Kevin Bains because she was having trouble breathing through her mask with her asthma while climbing and had it under her nose. Several other people in the facility were doing the exact same trying to breath while doing difficult climbs and were not treated this way or even asked to pull their masks up. When she was asked to pull her mask up over her nose she simply stated she could not breathe. That is all she said and was not rude as Kevin is claiming. The email she sent BRC mentioned by Kevin was sent on Aug 25 before the Boulder mandate was even put in effect. At that time, BRC was requiring already for weeks that just their employees wear masks as a business decision not a mandate. Several employees told her they did not want to wear them but were being forced by management so she wrote an email on their behalf - a full week before the county passed the mandate and at a time when almost everyone in every public venue was going maskless. Many other activity oriented centers in Boulder have mask exemptions in place because they and the city reasonably understand that these activities should be in a different class than shopping at Whole Foods. Given that obvious fact and the intensity of the cardiorespiratory system during climbing, BRC should show some understanding to a person briefly wearing a mask under their nose in a big open space and not ban them permanently for doing so as many, many people are doing this now. I will also say that the staff there should spend time on something else besides this type of nonsense. I have climbed there for years and they 100% of the time just camp out behind the front desk and do absolutely nothing to check on safety, patrol the facility, help people, interact with climbing members in any way or provide guidance to anyone other than their quick primary belay check for new people.
Matt, we respect you and Petra’s personal beliefs and sincerely thank you for the years of being great members of our climbing community. Please know we did not make this decision lightly. But, we felt it was our only course of action if we were to protect our members, staff and the integrity of our business. Safety of our members has always been our number one priority.

Fantastic experience: Homegrown hometown gym. No frills just great setting and plenty of routes/auto belays/boulder spots/gym equipment
Thanks for the review, Chris!
Fantastic experience: Great place to rock climb and amazing customer service.
Thank you Yvette! We hope to see you soon!
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable staff, lots of routes with new ones each week. Very friendly and supportive atmosphere. It can be too crowded at times, but it’s an amazing place to climb
Thank you for the review Ryan!
Fantastic experience: Love the BRC!!! Setting is so great, vibes are chill, just a really great bunch of people to be around. ALW, hero to all the short girls, is my favorite setter! Thanks to cry in the dojo for the video quarantine classes, they really kept us going.
Thank you Sara for this amazing review! YOU keep us going and psyched!
Fantastic experience: First time for any climbing activity with two kids, ages 7 & 11. Very courteous and friendly staff. Gave a tour, answered our questions and treated us with respect even though we were out of state newbies. Our kids had a fantastic first experience climbing and are ready to go back again. The facility is amazing - climbing for every level. Good service all around but especially impressed with Lori's customer service!
So thrilled you had a wonderful time! Please come visit again soon!
Fantastic experience: Really chill atmosphere. The slide sold me.
Thanks for the review! We love our slide haha!
Fantastic experience: This has a lot of different levels for all different levels of climbers. Good for anybody.
Thank you Steven!
Fantastic experience: Awesome routes
Thanks Adam! We love our routesetters!
Positive experience: First time.visit, we enjoyed it!! Nice routes, pricey but hey its Boulder Yo!
Thanks for the review John! Glad you enjoyed the routesetting.
Fantastic experience: great gym, good community of people who go there and a nice variety of bouldering, top rope and lead routes. jack of all trades gym.
Thanks Josh! Come back soon!
Fantastic experience: Nice rock climbing gym. Offers bouldering, lead, and top rope climbing as well as auto belay. Small gym up stairs with power racks and weights.
Thanks for visiting Andrew! Hope to see you soon!
Fantastic experience: Safe, extremely fun, and great staff
Thanks for your review, Larz! Glad to bring you a safe and fun environment!
Fantastic experience: An amazing Rock Gym and staff. Two huge rooms of climbing routes and a bouldering alcove always have great options to help me better my climbing. I love going a little later in the evening to find a more open gym but even when slightly more crowded everyone is respectfully with social distancing and space. Absolutely give this gym a try.
Thank you for your review, Adam!
Positive experience: It's a decent place to climb with a good fitness facilities, although the bouldering area wasn't very big. The bouldering area does not use the standard boulder route rating system, which I was a little disappointed by. Some of the holds seemed to need a little cleaning. I noticed there weren't very many 5.9 routes. I would have liked to see more.
Thanks for your feedback! We wish we could fit more bouldering in our space! Routes are turned over about every 2.5 months and then we get to pressure wash them clean again! Route grade requests are always appreciated and we are happy to set more of a grade when requested! Come visit again soon!
Fantastic experience: There were certainly walls to climb here
Thanks for visiting!
Fantastic experience: Almost as good as The Spot
Fantastic experience: Surprisingly reasonable prices for high quality climbing.
We're glad you loved the routes!
Fantastic experience: Best climbing gym experience and community I’ve encountered. Definitely coming back! Huge fan of these auto-belays
Woohoo! Auto belays are the best! Thanks Mira!
Fantastic experience: Helpful and fun for any climbers from beginners to advanced
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great price.
Fantastic experience: I've held a membership at all of the gyms in Boulder over the years, and BRC is by far the best gym in terms of quality staff, great routes, and awesome amenities, especially for the price you pay.
Fantastic experience: Love this place, really bummed that all the gyms are closed. Affordable membership, friendly staff, and auto belays are all pluses.
Fantastic experience: Great people, good times, and a lot of smiles. They do their best to keep climbing affordable and fun. Offering everything from bouldering to fitness classes.
Fantastic experience: Such a fun place to go rock climbing or have a group event . Also has a decent weight lifting gym . I just wish they had a few more beginner stuff , but most of the people seemed fairly advanced so it fit their needs
Positive experience: The route setting here is really varied and very well done. No guest passes for members is a huge bummer.
Fantastic experience: The BRC, in my opinion, is the best rock gym in Boulder. I've been coming here for 9 years now and I don't ever see myself switching climbing gyms. The staff is wonderful, the route setters are awesome and the vibe is awesome too.
Fantastic experience: Great fun and indoor training for rock climbing. Awesome routes, staff and instruction if needed.
Fantastic experience: Nice staff and decent routes to practice
Fantastic experience: Best climbing gym in town
Fantastic experience: Staff is cool, routes are fun even if you just boulder, tons of belay and autobelay options, weight room filled to the brim with equipment, showers, free coffee until 11?? I will save money by coming here to get my morning cup(s), and I'll get a workout in too! Already being cheaper than anything back home in NC with better amenities and perks makes it hard to beat, AND THEN they hit you with the fact that there's no sign up fee.
Fantastic experience: A great place for people of all ages to come and send it
Fantastic experience: Love this place- great routes and enough auto belays to stop by and climb on your own for a bit, but not too many to get in the way when climbing with a partner. The gym is nice and has all the equipment you’d need, and they have a nice schedule of group classes (which I can’t attest to the quality of because I’ve never attended any,) and community events. I can see how some may find there aren’t enough low level routes, but I kind of prefer that.
Fantastic experience: Great family atmosphere
