Advantage Gymnastics Academy: Opinions
Negative experience: I strongly advise against working with Kathie for adaptive gymnastics. My experience was deeply disappointing due to her attitudes toward my son who has autism that she was supposed to support. Rather than creating an inclusive environment, she displayed biases that made it clear that not all clients are treated with the respect they deserve. Adaptive gymnastics should be a space where everyone feels welcomed and empowered, but that was not my son’s experience here. He absolutely loved going to gymnastics, but unfortunately we were pulled aside by her and told to “take a break” instead of supporting him in the things he was struggling with. If you are looking for a compassionate, nonjudgmental experience, I recommend looking elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: I have a four-year-old son who has been coming here since he was 6months old. We did the baby tot class, open gym, and now he’s in the little ninja program. The staff has become like family (always patient and kind) the owner is so approachable and easy to talk to. My son is very active and it was really hard for me to find a place where I felt like he could explore his body and movement in a Safe and challenging way. Coach Ray is the pinnacle for creating confidence at a young age. “ it’s ok momma to make mistakes, don’t give up and always try again”- Lincoln’s response when I asked him how was class. Needless to say Covid has made challenges but they’ve been great at adapting and provided an extremely safe Covid conscious plan as They have moved forward. If you have any child at any age I highly recommend taking a class to increase activity levels and encouraging independent mental strength/ confidence of your child.
Fantastic experience: My daughter said she’s not coming back if y’all don’t bring back the vending machine
Negative experience: Scheduling is a hassle.
Fantastic experience: Great preschool and gymnastics
Fantastic experience: Great coaches.
Fantastic experience: Best of its kind!
Fantastic experience: We have enjoyed taking our daughter to preschool gymnastics classes. She has learned a lot and had a great time. We really enjoyed Coach Kelly when she was there! They also have an indoor gym time for young kids which is amazing. Pay one fee and you can stay for 2 hours doing everything! Clean and great environment!
Fantastic experience: I reached out to this place during the holidays and I was pleasantly surprised with a speedy reply from Dana! She connected me with Ray to discuss all of my class options. I wanted to report that I just finished my first class today! Rachel was super kind and helpful upon check-in. Coach Ray was funny, helpful, and had great advice to help me achieve my gymnastic goals. I'm really looking forward to my next class.
Negative experience: My son took the Ninja Class here over the summer. He wore the mask but there were a couple times when he was jumping around it came down below his nose. The instructor yelled at him to get it up over his nose. My son is outgoing and resilient. I was surprised when he was upset over the mask yelling … this is a company that embraces following every Covid mandate …. If you like being super focused on Covid mandates, this is your gym. …
Negative experience: Despite wearing masks and distancing, this gym requires parents, children over 12, and any viewers over 12 to be vaccinated. That means in order to watch your child practice, you need to show your papers. A vaccine mandate is not law, so this establishment is choosing to discriminate against those with natural immunity, can't take the vaccine or choose not to. A horrible shame.
Fantastic experience: So happy my daughter is a part of this gymnastics program. The owner is phenomenal! She is a fantastic coach, person and business owner. She truly cares about her gym families and staff. The staff is exceptional as well. My daughter learned more in a month here then she did in an entire year at her previous gym. We've tried a few gyms but this is definitely home to us.
Negative experience: My family attended this gym for an event and the gym owner asked if we were vaccinated or if we needed a mask. My husband and I both told her we were vaccinated (he’s a federal/government employee) and that we didn’t understand why we needed to put masks on our small children. She then continued to harp on us asking us about why OUR gym wasn’t following protocol (which they do, WA has lifted the mandate) and continuously tried forcing us to wear a mask after we said countless times that we were vaccinated. Then she asked to see proof which we didn’t have. I told her that even unvaccinated I still have exempt status for a mental health condition, she then proceeded to ask me over and over WHAT mental health condition, which I am not at liberty to discuss. BTW: I have an anxiety disorder which was IMMEDIATELY triggered by her repeating over and over to tell her what my condition was. Then she went over to another group of people who came from our gym (all unmasked) and asked if they were vaccinated. One of them said “I’m a nurse” and the owner said “okay great”. And the others gave her their word that they were vaccinated (I know of TWO who 100% are NOT vaccinated) and she believed all of them without visible proof of their vaccine. Then she asked us numerous times to leave after insinuating over and over that we were lying. So here we were at my daughter’s VERY first competitive meet (she’s 6) and we had to stand outside in the scorching heat with our 3 year old son (no shaded area) and watch her from outside. Meanwhile I’m watching multiple people walking around the establishment who I KNOW are not vaccinated and they weren’t wearing masks but they got to sit comfortably in the cool air and enjoy their children’s event. It was probably my tattoos, I don’t know, but they are discriminatory as all HECK. I don’t recommend going here.. if you want to deal with professional, stand up people, this is not your place. I understand asking people to wear a mask if they're unvaccinated but this was harassment. And to blatantly allow so many other people to enter, without proof, IN FRONT OF OUR FACES was a disgrace. I got to watch multiple people cheer their kids on UNVAXXED AND UNMASKED while I stood outside in the scorching heat. YUCK.
Fantastic experience: good place to exercise and be with family
Fantastic experience: Great instructors, my 3 year loves it!!!!
Fantastic experience: Great facility .... and the best gymnastic coaches!!
Positive experience: The people are great and the baby class is a lot of fun. However there is an odor (very much like stinky feet) in the building my wife and I just cant get over, and we get the overall feeling this isn't the cleanest facilities. We have been to other gyms in the Seattle area and they do not have this same issue. Again the staff is very friendly and nice and the activities they offer are a lot of fun. They even offer free classes for crawlers on Wednesday at 9am, we just wish it had a cleaner vibe to it.
Fantastic experience: Great indoor playground! My daughter just loves it!
Fantastic experience: I had previously given Advantage 5 stars as they were able to accomodate our situation and were always warm and understanding. However, with one of the owners leaving, they appear to now be less customer service focused. The last few visits haven't felt as welcoming or understanding of our situation. Hopefully it's just a blip due to the change/updates in management. Update : After a change in heart, Advantage was able to accommodate us and I have put them back to 5 stars! Dana is an angel, especially!!!
Fantastic experience: Love the gym. Caring and professional coaches, efficient and consistent management. The gymnasts here get everything needed to grow and enjoy the sport.
Fantastic experience: We take our under 2 toddler to the open gyms and he loves it. The staff is very friendly and ensure the obstacles are safe for the kids to play on. This is a great activity for the rainy days - we just wish it was longer than 30 minutes but it certainly gets energy out. Can't wait to try the Ninja Class for young kids.
Fantastic experience: Love this place!
Fantastic experience: My son attends gymnastics team classes. Super coaches!!! Great place for kids to strengthen skills, to build healthy bodies, to believe in yourself.
Fantastic experience: Awesome experience! I went for a gymnastics trial the coach was super nice and very helpful and respectful the equipment quality was really good. My dad was late to pick me up and the gym was about to close but the people at the desk waited for 20 or 40 mins until my dad got there! They were so nice :)
Fantastic experience: Love it
Fantastic experience: Amazing instructors, clean facility, innovative classes!
