Fantastic experience: Is it an all-star gym, no? But it has all the basics, is clean, is convenient, had an easy sign up process, offers a single month gym option for a reasonable price and were responsive to an email inquiry about sign up. They don’t supply towels, lockers with a lock (even for keys) and there’s no sauna. For the price, I think it’s worthy of 5 stars on Google.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service.. takes them forever to reply to an email asking for clarity on undue and incorrect charges. Been waiting for 11 months and many follow ups later no response. Asked them to clear this and restart my membership, still no response.. I guess they don’t care about business

Negative experience: TLDR: Paying $800 a month in personal training fees, they abruptly changed the trainer I signed up with and was forced to work with a new trainer. In order to accommodate this change… they wouldn’t even waive my membership fees. For just the duration of the training sessions. 1 month. It’s like 70 dollars. Milking your customers for 70 dollars when you already are getting $800 a month from me is just bad business practice. And 70 dollars is most certainly not worth a bad review. Any logical business owner would understand that. I signed up for an absurdly expensive personal training 3 month commitment with a specific trainer. 2 months into my sessions they changed my trainer. He was the trainer I grew comfortable working with and without much of a heads up I had a new trainer. The new trainer is great, doesn’t change the fact that it’s not who I made the 3 month commitment with. They won’t even waive my membership fees while I’m already paying them $800 a month for training $100 per hour.

Positive experience: Pretty great gym, I’m surprised it’s not busier being across from BU. They have plenty of squat racks and DL platforms along with dumbells that go up past 120. Overall pretty solid for the membership price.
Fantastic experience: Been coming here for a few months now. Great gym for the price in the area. Lots of squat racks which I never have to wait for. Good spread of machines (people are usually not waiting) and not very crowded.

Negative experience: Gymit took two payments from my account When they couldn’t take a third payment they waited till I came in to work out Which was about two weeks after payment was due to inform me their billing had an issue and I would have to process my card again Because of this I asked the manager if I could make a one time payment with a credit card He refused to do it because his boss would be really mad at him if he did that I emailed gymit and explain the situation They responded that I could have made a 1 time payment Which the manager refused to do because he was to busy having fun and doing nothing Now I have an overdraft fee on my account because the manager at Brookline Gymit refused to take a one time credit card payment because his bosses would be very mad at him The manager lied to me about the process

Negative experience: Awful management. It was a painful process to cancel my membership (and called me a lair in front of my face). Finally cancelled my membership at Dec 2021, but I was still getting charged by this gym for random 1 dollar charges until Dec 2022. Asked their staff, they confirmed that those 1 dollar charges do appear in their system but the reason of those charges are not shown. So what is it? Is gymit actually stealing money from me? I'm afraid that if I freeze my card and refuse to pay, they'll send me to collection! P.S. This was my favorite gym. I used to go to this gym everyday during my undergrad @BU, I did not cancel my membership during my almost 2 years of the remote classes during covid because I wanted to support gymit. But after I graduated, I had to cancel my membership, and that when this nightmare began. I am really really disappointed by this gym. Response to the owner: First, I do not say that gymit refused to cancel my membership, it's simply painful. Second, Not all of my emails are replied. I have two emails to the support team that are never replied. Third, The support team finally canceled my membership on 6/14/2022 (via email), but I was still getting random 1, 2 dollars charges until Dec 2022 and there's no explanation for those charges. Fourth, I did update my billing information on Dec 2021 in person as I didn't want to share my card information online.

Our members can certainly bring guests as long as they are accompanied by the member at all times and our Elite members can bring guests for free on the weekends. Negative experience: Absolutely disgraceful ,unforgivable ,atrocities are being played on the TVs at the gym. Things that should be banned by the Geneva convention. They had the AUDACITY to play The Last Jedi on the TVs and it’s absolutely shameful. I will not return until apologized too for the traumatic experience
Positive experience: the gym is good. if you decide to freeze your account for what ever reason, you can't do it at the front desk but instead told to email support. why not provide this as a normal service at front desk?
Gym reception desks are very busy places and staff is multitasking and dealing with many interruptions and distractions. So what happens all too often at gyms with this process is the freeze or cancellation request does not get processed properly or at all. Because this was a word of mouth transaction the member and the gym do not have any proof that the requested was even made. This is why we pay additional staff to be dedicated to processing these requests and by doing it via email there is a trail of the request which cannot be refuted and our member always receives a reply confirmation. This is all to the great benefit of our customers.

Negative experience: So I was looking for a new gym since moving, gymit seemed convenient travel wise from work and home & the price was good. I scheduled a tour online for a certain time & day but but unfortunately to my surprise; when I arrived they were not expecting me. The guy at the front desk seemed clueless and careless to help he literally told me I could tour myself. LOL. I walked my self around the gym and just walked out after circling around. Customer service goes a long way. The gym seemed decent but because of this I was no longer interested.

Second, we find that most newcomers to the gym much prefer to take their time to look around the gym on their own and even have a workout without feeling pressured. Unlike many other gyms, we do not take a high pressure sales approach at Gymit but we do make it super easy to join or cancel so I am sorry if you mistook our intension as a lack or customer care. Negative experience: Well equipped gym for cardio, but crowded for free weights and overcrowded for machines. I signed up given the price, and I did walk around and check out the area before I signed, but in the time that I looked around and the time that I was at the gym, it seemed like it filled up. For the number of people that are in the gym, the amount of space and machines is not adequate. When I asked the gym about resistance bands, which I use for physical therapy, they did not have any. They pointed out an area that had two heavy resistance bands for things like assisted pull ups, and one broken one. They also had two additional resistance equipment items that weren’t bands. It’s nice that they have a functional fitness area, but it also has free weights, barbells, and two rowing machines, so when four other people are in the space it’s impossible to use the sled. The majority of gym attendees appear to be male college students, and I probably noticed five or six people that did not fit that demographic. I didn’t see anyone else use sanitizing wipes in my time there. Had I known how the gym would feel given the number of people in it, rather than just by the equipment available (though, note the lack of bands above), I likely wouldn’t have signed up. Wish they had a few days trial for monthly memberships.

Being that we are the least expensive option in the area we also take pride in having the most amount of equipment and services in the area but understandably we do not provide all of the unique personal fitness equipment that every individual member may want and we also have certain times where the gym is heavily used. In addition to the most amount of equipment in the area, we are the only club that area that has invested in the most advanced air quality systems that kill all airborne and surface germs and viruses. This system runs 24/7 so you are as safe if not safer inside a GymIt Club than you would be in any other building. Fantastic experience: Good COVID policies, nice that they have quality air filters in the building. All of the staff are great too, the front desk workers remember your name and are always very welcoming. I definitely recommend using their personal trainer program too, especially if you’re just beginning. I felt pretty intimidated for years about fitting working out into my lifestyle because I had no idea where to start, but their trainers are great at breaking things down and explaining the process. Adam, one of their trainers on staff, has been excellent about working w/ my limitations and is very responsive to feedback. It’s definitely worth the extra $$ to get a professional to help you figure out a good routine for your specific needs. It’s a good place, I recommend it to friends.

Positive experience: Went to go visit my partner in Boston and bought a couple of day passes while I was here. It's well worth the 10 dollars a day if you are only going to be in town for a little while. Make sure to go in the mornings because it does get pretty packed around 7-9am. I did find that a lot of people here do not re-rack their weights nor use the right machine for the exercise they are trying to do. Saw people doing bench press on the squat racks when the bench press station was open. I am all for doing "you" at the gym but when space is limited I don't think that's cool. Looking forward to going back to GymIt in the future.

Negative experience: They have so many hidden fees. A month into my $14 per 2-weeks membership i found a surprising $50 “maintenance fee”. I cancelled my membership and they charged $40 “cancellation fee” lols. And you have to pay an additional 2 weeks fees, and with preceding fees that’s over $100 just to get off their membership. Such a scam.

Positive experience: This gym is a great deal for the average person: GREAT price, good variety in equipment, locker rooms/showers, drinks/snacks available to buy, personal training available, and I think in non-Covid times they may do group exercise classes(? I only joined in September so I’m not too sure). For very serious heavy lifters this might not be the ideal place, but even then I think there would only be a few things missing in terms of weights/equipment and it‘a still an AWESOME deal for the price. I only give 4 stars because the staff members that I have interacted with aren’t very customer-oriented (at least during the hours that I visit). I typically come in very early in the day, and I get it—everyone in the gym is still waking up and feeling a little tired. But it’s very rare for me to get even a “hello” or “good morning” from the folks behind the desk. I also often stand there for quite some time trying to get the scanner to recognize my phone to check in, and usually the staff members continue to sit on their phones without helping me. When I have spoken to them they’ve been perfectly polite and helpful, and they always do the other aspects of their job (like filling wipe bins or reminding customers to keep masks on etc). I just wish they were a bit more outgoing I guess. I’ll continue to work out here and would still recommend this gym to others despite this slight shortcoming.
Negative experience: Scam. They have charged my CC +$100 for NOTHING. I sent theme an email saying clearly that stop my subscription. Instead they said they can froze that. After couple months guess what I found out? They started charging my CC / activated my membership without letting me know, or sending me an email. THE WORST way of doing business during the pandemic. STAY AWAY

Fantastic experience: For the price of membership, can't complain at all. Has all the standard equipment you could need for free weights and machines. So far haven't had to much issue waiting for equipment even at peak hours.
Fantastic experience: Would have given it 4 stars if it were more expensive, but for about $1.12 a day, which includes all one-time fees, this is great value. Yes, it may be a bit crowded at peak times, even pre-pandemic, but equipment is all updated and in good shape, place nice and airy, lockers clean, people polite, staff helpful.
Fantastic experience: The staff are incredibly courteous, friendly, and helpful. The gym is ALWAYS clean and in good order. The price for anywhere, but especially Boston, is fantastic. The weight room is sufficiently supplied with equipment for the most serious lifter to get a good workout.* Parking is reasonable in price (a paid parking deck, with non-business hours being around a dollar). I would absolutely recommend and have done so with several people. * I did request that the staff pass along my request to the owner for his consideration in obtaining some 105-150 lb dumbbell pairs, even if secondhand, to provide dumbbells beyond the 100 lb limit currently offered. However, this was maybe two weeks prior to COVID-19 closing Boston and likely was forgotten. I will re-approach the subject and update the matter on here to let all of you know.
Fantastic experience: Solid place to workout, new equipment, plenty of space, and you never feel rushed. The way they handled the pandemic makes this a 5 star review though. They halted payments pretty early on (unlike BSC) and then let people in on a deal where you could pay a lower rate during the pandemic to get access to the premium membership for the next year. Then once they opened, they required facemasks even tho there was ambiguity in the mass guidelines, created an effective sign up system, and ordered tons and tons of wipes for before and after use of each machine. Worked out well!
Positive experience: Probably the best affordable option on the Boston area. Friendly staff, everything you need. Only problem is getting a reservation with the Covid-19 precautions.

Negative experience: WORST experience ever! DO NOT GO HERE. Tried to cancel my membership over 2 months ago, had sent an email to cancel and received confirmation and was STILL charged for 2 months. The company had also sent out email telling members they could not freeze their accounts during the beginning of covid, so everyone was being charged. I had spoke to the manager and he refused to give me refund as “it was not the companies fault and they only had a few employees, how were they supposed to monitor every email sent”. After 20 minutes of the manger yelling and talking over me on the phone, he concluded that an email is not proper documentation, but then would ONLY verbally confirm my canceled membership WITHOUT a refund, as a again they don’t know what to tell me. This company takes advantage of people during a national crisis. GYMIT also does not take Responsibilities for their ever changing policies.
Hi Charlene, As Mentioned in my private reply to you a few weeks ago. I'm so sorry about this. I just spoke with the manager in question and went over the situation. I agree that he did not handle this properly and I will work with him on his service. The email you provided is proper documentation, it is not your fault that we were not actively monitoring the address that you sent it to. Since we have re-opened we have improved our cancellation procedure to make it easier for our members to cancel, and more difficult for us to make mistakes. I did want to clear up one thing, we absolutely offered our members the option to freeze and cancel their accounts back in March when we closed, and we have continued to allow our members to do this if they are not ready to return. In mid-april when it became clear that the mandated closure was going to last more than a few weeks, we turned off our billing completely, and we provided refunds if anyone did not feel like the April charges were justified. We provided notice prior to reopening about how accounts would be billed, and providing the option to extend their freeze. I do understand that you may have ignored the June/July emails if you thought that you had already cancelled. I have provided refunds for all of the charges that you and your boyfriend questions about. Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Gym It for past 5 years and by far this club has Been the best Club I have been a member of . Gym It is family owned business by people who truly care about their members and do everything possible to make the club a place for people to enjoy their work out . They provide diverse equipments , clean and spacious environment , kind and professional staff , great communication and prompt response to customer concerns . If you are looking for a gym that you can relax and enjoy your work out in a safe and clean environment and deal with professional snd caring staff this is your Gym! Fantastic experience: I attend this gym during the summers when I'm not away at college. Amazing value, friendly staff, and good equipment and accessibility make it one of the best gyms I've ever frequented.
Fantastic experience: Love it, very friendly staff and no pushy personal trainers after you, you can really feel comfortable and focus on your work out.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Clean, easily accessible by train or car. The staff is always super accommodating and feels like close friends. Only thing i would recommend is having a mirror behind the smith machine so that you can better check your form. Otherwise, its a great gym. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Worked out here for a number of years. Membership cost was very fair and the equipment was great. Only complaint was that there no free bars for squats(owner told me it was out of consideration for downstairs neighbors, which is understandable).
Fantastic experience: There's no better spot for getting some meat on you. Never crowded, all the free weights you could ask for. Open late, cheap as dirt, right next to the train. The gear is clean, and it always works. The staff is friendly and easy to talk to. They've got a handy app so you can easily keep track of your workouts. I don't really know why the hell anyone bothers with the other gyms in the area, this is the best one I've dealt with in the entire city.
Negative experience: Pros - 24/7 during weekdays so lots of flexibility, broken machines don't seem to stay broken, relatively clean facility, prices are reasonable Cons - They have a webpage for your payment and membership, but most changes to membership have to be done in person (upgrades or purchases can be done, but not downgrades or cancellations). Kind of a scam in that regard. I really like this place. I work odd hours so typical gym hours don't quite work for me. This was close to my work, so I could go straight from there, so I signed up. Their equipment is fairly clean and staff do a decent job maintaining them. I'm not sure if this person still works there, but there was someone that was always there late at night. They were friendly at first, and I really liked that. That, however, was a ruse. One day, they started pitching to me a pyramid scheme. They wanted me to sit down with them outside their work hours and persuade me to join them. I stated that I was uninterested, but every time I showed up, they would make the new pitch. I began to go to the gym less and less to try to avoid them. Additionally, I changed my place of employment, so it was now a decent drive there and was no longer convenient. They have a webportal for management of your account, so I tried to cancel my membership there. Looking around, I couldn't find anything regarding cancellation. So, I called to try to get an answer. I was informed that I couldn't cancel through the web portal or by calling. I had to come in to the facility... This is a business tactic, which is a tad scummy. There is absolutely NO REASON you can not cancel through a website or on the phone. They claim it's for security reasons but it's for the following two. 1. If it's inconvenient to come in person for you, that means you won't cancel the membership right away. And you may forget even. 2. They want to be able to convince or pressure you into not canceling.

Fantastic experience: A great place to work out. Lots of machines, friendly staff and clean facilities. You can work out by yourself or sign up to work with a trainer. Classes also available.

Fantastic experience: GymIt has fantastic facilities with great staff. I've been training with Talia for over a year now and I love it. She's professional and accommodating, always adjusting workouts to focus on areas I need the most help. All of the staff are courteous and helpful when you need it. Most of the patrons are kind and willing to share equipment during busy hours. Great vibes and great place.

Fantastic experience: I just joined few weeks ago and want to support this place with a good review. Staff is super nice and helpful. I had no issues so far with anything. It is super affordable and for the price I've been paying in the past for the memberships at other gyms, at Gymit I can have semi private sessions. Excited to start training with Steven and he seems to be very knowledgeable and fun! Also kudos to bootcamp trainers!

Fantastic experience: I was a member here for many years before moving out of state. It's always a hassle trying to quit a gym, but rest easy if that's keeping you from joining. Everyone was polite and reasonable when I canceled. No hoops to jump through just a simple request. While I was a member I was always pleased by the friendly staff, the clean facility and the frequent updates to equipment. I still can't believe how affordable it is compared to the other gyms in the area. The only really negative thing I can say is that it gets insanely crowded between 4pm and 7pm, but really what gym in the world isn't crowded at that time?
