Equinox Franklin Street: Opinions
Negative experience: rude staff only friendly to existing customers, asked me to step aside for them to greeting their members.
Negative experience: Ana is the absolute worst manager in Equinox history. Every member complains about her horrible attitude, her incompetence and her carelessness. Things need to change starting with a new GM.
Fantastic experience: Only rating the massage I had here, but it was AMAZING. Mike was so good at what he does, gave super clear instructions every step on the way, and it’s like he knew exactly where to push and pull to make my back feel 1000x better. Give this man a raise!
Negative experience: Had such high hopes for this gym since it’s walking distance from my apartment that I recently moved into. Unfortunately, as the proverbial saying goes, it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. With membership, I was given the opportunity to have a free consult with a training professional, which I was excited about to help on my fitness journey. To my unpleasant surprise, the trainer I met with was dismissive and somewhat condescending when I asked her questions about the process. She went as far as to say she was leaving equinox soon because of the commute from NH, which I am sure is why she was completely unprofessional and checked out. It was so off putting, I’ve decided to cancel my membership. Equinox, do better…… hire better!

Negative experience: This is not what you would expect from a high end Equinox fitness club. Not worth the money or the aggravation. The lockers seldom work and are in a constant state of disrepair; it is easy to get locked out of your own locker. Management has known about this for years. Also, the maintenance of the floor equipment is very poor and no staff ever walks around the floors to make sure things are operating as they should be. Staff only stay upstairs behind the desk or in their offices and work to sign up new people. Beware.

Fantastic experience: Seems like it’s the newest equinox I visited. Very nice. There are two floors and one is the basement.
Fantastic experience: The Equinox location boasts excellent service, a pristine gym environment, and a welcoming team of staff.
Fantastic experience: Amazing fitness club in downtown Boston. I highly recommend this club’s fitness equipment and facility layout. Don’t forget to stop by Steve Lopez’s office to talk about your membership and fitness goals

Fantastic experience: Love this Equinox location! It’s beautiful and had an amazing staff. Steve Lopez gave me an in-depth tour of the facility and helped me get signed up. Can’t wait to try out all the classes!

Fantastic experience: Spacious and clean, that's what I was looking for, in a gym. I found it here. Very generous staff.
Thanks for the 5-star review, Prakash!
Fantastic experience: Excellent sports club with a lot of equipment and fun classes. All trainers and advisor are very friendly. I recommend you contact Celia Fleckner, who has been an amazing membership advisor for me.

Positive experience: Decent gym. Has everything you need but closes at 2 PM on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. For a gym that you pay over $200 a month for its a bit ridiculous.
Negative experience: Really good gym equipment, but subpar customer service and communication (pulling teeth comes to mind ). To be fair, a couple of their agents at the reception are superb, very friendly, and helpful! More so, they consistently struggle with having the HVAC system in the right settings, and it is usually the luck of the draw if you are going to be comfortable or miserable inside the Franklin Street branch. Oddly, that's not the case in their other branches. On the flip side, their fitness classes are really good. That's one of the things they have done right, and a special thanks to their phenomenal yoga instructors! I think dropping the ball consistently with HVAC and communication warrants a single star from me.
Fantastic experience: Went in for a tour before starting a membership and love the gym. It's very clean and has all the equipment I'd like for a workout. Love the extra service they offer members. Met with Celia, she was very kind and answered all my questions. She sold me on the membership and how they tier their personal trainers. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: Horrible customer service experience. They promised you what you would get after joining, and this would be gone when your “account manager” leaves equinox. Once that person is gone, you’re left completely in the darkness. Nobody to contact and if you call them they only tell you someone would reach out to you. Besides, once the person you managed to contact leaves the location again, you have to start over and find someone to help you again!

Fantastic experience: The employees are the nicest I've ever seen at a gym or anywhere honestly...if you are looking for a place to workout I highly recommend.
Thank you for the 5 stars Arthur!
Negative experience: Don't remember

Fantastic experience: Update: New manager Chris Ford established a policy wherein an alert will now be sent to members when the elevator is down. With any large company, it is not an easy feat for someone new to come in and establish a policy. Thank you. Sadly, I have to give this facility 1 star. If you have any mobility issues or a disability that does not allow you to use the stairs, you will not be able to access the locker rooms. There is an elevator, but no matter how many times I’ve asked that notice be sent when it’s not working, notice is never sent. Instead, after dragging myself to the gym, I get to stand there embarrassed and angry that I cannot workout. If notice is sent out when the showers or sauna are not working, why not the elevator? For me, I need the elevator more than the sauna. I really like a lot of people that work here so it breaks my heart to be treated with such disregard.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take all feedback seriously and are committed to addressing any issues promptly. To ensure we take appropriate action, we have followed up with our management team to investigate this matter further. We appreciate your input and are dedicated to improving our services based on the feedback of our valued members. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.
Positive experience: My favorite of all the Equinox locations in Boston, nice selection of different machines and free weights, etc. The upstairs weight floor gets amazing natural light which is so nice during a workout. My only gripe and reason I took off a star is that it isn’t open on weekends, cause I’d choose this over Sports Club any day. Overall though, love this place and it definitely exceeds the Equinox standard in most respects.
Thank you for taking the time to review, Andrew!
Positive experience: Very nice facility, definitely has the best locker rooms out of all the Boston locations. The club on Avery street should take note. Most of the staff are pleasant, especially the membership consultants (but they’re salespeople), a couple of employees forget they work at Equinox, they have the work ethic and mentality of people who belong at a planet fitness.

Hi, Declan. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sharing what you've mentioned with the appropriate teams now.
Positive experience: I initially had a lower rating, mainly because the gym was closed to setup for an event that I was unaware of. Looking back, equinox did the right thing by sending an email out letting everyone know it would be closed, and the event was for a good cause. Overall, I would recommend equinox but keep in mind that during peak times the place can get crowded and the cleanliness of the facility can fall behind a bit during those times. Even so, it’s a lot nicer than showering at most other gyms. I wouldn’t mind more flexible hours, but I’m probably the minority in that compared to everyone else.
Hi Jonathan - we would like to hear what went wrong. Please email us more details at [email protected] so we can be sure to address this with the appropriate team. Thank you.
Positive experience: Extremely crowded during rush hour. Newly renovated locker room is nice.
Negative experience: 1 star for not honoring my unsubscribe requests, a shower area that usually smells like a sewage backup, and a deplorable/rarely varied music selection .
Fantastic experience: More places should be as friendly.
Fantastic experience: I'm a member of Century City Equinox in Los Angeles and I love my gym, but it one tops CC.
Fazit/Summary: Zu teuer, unflexible Raten und fragwürdiger Gastumgang./too expensive gym for only members. No trial or flexible rates.
Fantastic experience: I am a big fan of gym's that have tons of space. This gym has two floors. It has pretty much all the equipment that you need. I am training for a men's physique competition and decided that this will be my primary gym. Only gym's in the suburbs have size so it says a lot that this Equinox here in the financial district has size and space.
Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely fantastic. From the friendly and welcoming front desk staff to the spotless Locker Rooms-it's a high quality experience. I have been a Fitness Instructor, and a member at many different facilities, all over the country, and this one is top notch.
Negative experience: Thought I would love it but it just wasnt for me. Thanks but no thanks
