Fantastic experience: Better than planet fitness

Positive experience: Only reason i paid for the top package is because it is the only one with a room for kids. I have a 9 year old. I can't go on the weekends any more because he is so bored in that room, let alone every single thing in there is for 5 and under. My 9 year old can't work out (understandably) but he literally has nothing to do but watch the other kids play or bring a cellphone which can get boring for a kid too. Fitness, massages, etc. Are all fine. BUT I STOPPED COMING BC WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT MY SON ( ik, ik in the daycare room but its for toddlers.) AND IF I CANT HAVE HIM ANYWHERE (not only catered to toddlers) WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH FOR MY CHILD TO DO THE SAME THING HE COULD DO SITTING AT ONE OF THE TABLES IN THE FRONT. This is a great place for non-parents. really crappy for single parents. Please make it worthwhile for all ages of the kids and that might help attract single parents of kids older than 5 to your business to stay. Or even make it apart of the other packages. My son said they only sometimes interact with the other kids and they mostly just watch them. I used to be a daycare assistant teacher and the room was really under stimulating and not really kid friendly over five. The GYM ITSELF is very nice. I can only mostly go on weekends and my son has to come with during that time and now he gets really disappointed when he knows he has to go into that room. So i just don't go. Can we have a cheaper option because the extra money for that lack luster room is not worth it.

Negative experience: What a place to get scammed, charging a yearly annual fee on which is almost 60 dollars on top of your monthly fee. For whatever bullshit processing fee. And i Wasen made aware of it

Negative experience: Don’t sign up for this club they make it absolutely impossible to cancel your membership until they know they can at least get a double charge. I have called 8 times trying to cancel my membership and they continue to say that i have to come in person, when i don’t live there anymore. Yesterday I called and the guy on the phone said he couldn’t cancel it over the phone. I got a charge for 32.99 today, my membership should only be around 15 per month. I called today and the lady on the phone said she could cancel my membership because I was “adamant” about it. I’ve been adamant every single time cause i want to cancel it. Finally she says that there is a 30 day cancellation notice, so every single other person was wrong that told me they can’t cancel it over the phone, and now I have paid about 8 months of a membership I don’t live near and have tried to cancel multiple times, and am about to pay a 9th for cancelling my membership. A corporation this big literally is just scamming people. Don’t sign up for this gym it’s actually one of the worst i’ve ever seen and it also has bad equipment. Go to four seasons or something

Negative experience: New member at Crunch fitness and this is day 8 and the locker room and sauna hasn’t been clean since I’ve been coming here very disappointed

Negative experience: I joined this Crunch late last year. I have worked for Crunch Fitness in the past (in another state) and am very familiar with it, so when I moved back here to Bloomington, I knew that it would be the gym I would choose. Well, let's just say that all Crunch's are not the same, and this one leaves A LOT to be desired. I initially joined at the top tier (Peak Plus Results) membership specifically because I enjoy the cycling class (The Ride) that is only offered in that membership. However, after a few months, I realized that I wasn't attending the class often at all (the times that it is offered don't really work for my schedule), and didn't feel the need to continue paying for the top tier membership if I wasn't using it for the one thing that I chose that membership for. I went in today to downgrade my membership type to middle tier (Peak) and was told that they now charge a $20 downgrade fee. What??? Charging $20 to try to prevent people from downgrading by essentially punishing them for doing so? That is absolutely ridiculous. A more responsible thing to do would be to work harder as a company to promote the amenities that are offered in the top tier memberships so that people would be less likely to want to downgrade in the first place. But, charging people an additional fee to change their membership to something that better suits them is foolish. Conversely, I'm sure there is no fee charged for people to UPGRADE to a more expensive membership type, is there?! Not good business at all. Additionally, the atmosphere at this gym is not very inviting. The staff are often/usually less than friendly and do very, very, VERY little to acknowledge members or make them feel welcome. Most every time that I go in, there are at least 2 staff members at the front desk, and no one says a thing when you walk in. They just stare at you in silence as you swipe your barcode and walk away. The same as you walk out... just silent stares. This is not common for a Crunch gym at all! The least they could do is acknowledge someone when they walk in. I've worked at gyms for over 20 years and know for a fact that people who feel welcomed and acknowledged report having a more positive gym-going experience and are more likely to retain their membership. Simple and basic customer service is lacking here. Also, the gym itself is not the cleanest. I do understand that it is a high traffic facility, but, in my opinion and from my experience, that is not an excuse. The equipment, locker rooms, and especially the showers are not kept in the best condition or maintained well. All of these reasons are why I canceled my membership today. The $20 downgrade fee, however, was the last straw. I am excited to explore other gym options in Blo-No, because I definitely got a firm wake-up call by this facility that all Crunch fitness gyms are NOT created equal. This one is a disappointment.

Negative experience: Terrible service. Staff are not always friendly but that doesn't really matter, you don't have to talk to them. I have been overcharged countless times and had to contact the business. I signed all the papers to cancel, and I have already paid nearly $80 since January. I drove over an hour just to cancel my membership since I could not do it any other way. Still is not cancelled. I am contacted multiple times a week and sometimes even multiple times a day asking about money when I have already "cancelled" my membership and paid the annual fee. I should not be contacted by this company anymore, and they should not have my financial information anymore since I have CANCELLED my membership. I have sent an email to their "help" staff with no response. I will say again, terrible, terrible service and steals money from people who need it more than they do. I am not sure who I need to get involved for these issues, but it is overwhelming.

Negative experience: The gym itself is fine, just very very busy year long. We have major issues with the management. We were told its $9.99 a month forever… yet two years in a row they bumped our monthly price up to $15.99. No email, no explanation. We had to pay $49.99 each to get it bumped back down and it was such a hassel. They are not honest and upfront and make you feel like you are in the wrong and dont care. Would recommend going somewhere else if you want a upfront and honest gym! Otherwise keep a eye on your bank account!

Negative experience: This business charged my card for membership and upfront fees for my son, then refused to honor his membership and now refuse to refund my card. Now they want me to jump through a bunch of hoops to try to get my money back because they don't have a membership for him. This is fraud. Don't ever get a membership here. NEVER. I have emailed the person who responded to me and said he didn't understand why they wouldn't allow me to cancel. That alone proves how well he read my comment. He thinks we want to cancel the membership when it is this company that denied my son s membership, and yet still, as recently as yesterday, continue to try to draft money from his cashapp account. That person has not responded during the 5 days since I emailed him, so apparently he was not sincere in his response here but simply wanted to appear he was willing to resolve his companies fraudulent practices.

Fantastic experience: Love this place. But why did they call me at 10pm ? That's way too late to call someone.

Negative experience: The gyms fine but their cancelation policy is the worst. They make it seem like you can cancel online, but you can't. You have to cancel in person. And then there is a 30 day notice so you have to pay for an extra month. So they got 2 extra months out of me. Screw this place. Will never join again.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! I was actually able to cancel when I moved which is a shock with most gyms these days.

Negative experience: Was planning on moving to the area soon so we got a day pass to use and try out different local gyms, was immediately asked if we lived here then was told the day passes are not for us. Went ahead and paid for a day pass so we could see what type of gym this was that would give day passes as a trap to get you to pay for one. Absolutely filthy gym. Missing wipe down supplies. Trash everywhere, found where the mop buckets are dumped if you want to take a shower after you workout dirt grime and hair in the shower floors. Also the photos are of 2 seperate empty wipe down stations. Also before the idea of maybe this was just an isolated area of the gym I got tired of taking photos of the amount of trash and mystery stains.

Negative experience: It’s no wonder this gym sits at 1.5 stars on Yelp. I came in with an open mind, ready to give the place a shot, but left feeling unwelcome and frankly, irritated. Reading other reviews here and elsewhere it’s clearly a pattern. The refusal to grant me a free day pass without presenting a lease felt less like policy and more like an arbitrary barrier designed to turn people away. Even worse, the staff – two young men working that evening – seemed to go out of their way to be unhelpful. They dismissed my questions, walked off mid-conversation, and generally gave the impression that my presence was an inconvenience. I left unsure of how to sign up and even less inclined to figure it out. The lack of basic courtesy signaled loud and clear that this gym isn’t interested in earning my business—or yours, for that matter—especially if you’re someone like me who isn’t in town full-time. The indifference felt personal, as if they took some quiet satisfaction in denying service, which leads me to believe that management either ignores or condones this behavior. After reading the other reviews—complaints about predatory cancellation policies and overall poor treatment—I feel lucky I didn’t get roped into a membership. Don’t waste your time or energy here. There are plenty of gyms where your time, questions, and business will be valued. This is not one of them. I was able to try out at Planet Fitness nearby and they were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Membership is impossible to cancel. Got a membership 2 years ago, went back home to texas, and they refused to help cancel my membership through the phone. I followed their directions to send in an email requesting cancelation with some personal information, never received an answer. Went back to Illinois, canceled in person to find out 6 months later that I'm still being charged. I called, and "no records of cancellation" for the month I canceled were found. Complete scam and fraud gym.

Negative experience: Staff member accidentally took my bank account off the system when adding a new debit card and they charged me a late fee for it: dirty but gym itself is decent. Just watch your bank account

Negative experience: Honestly the gym is decent for getting the job done. Relatively clean and has a sufficient amount of machines. I urge you to triple check the terms and conditions when signing up, or do not sign up at all. I got a new debit card and was charged multiple late fees for not updating my card in time. This is not to mention, that the website makes it very sneaky that the $10 plan is an annual commitment and the only way to cancel it is to buy out the rest of the year. Please be careful about which plan you purchase.

Negative experience: Get this on the day my membership cancels I am being charged an additional months fee's but can't use the gym? Weird business practice, The gym itself is fine but some of the contract is just dirty business practices.

Negative experience: Front desk kid with curly hair and glasses gives hard time with payments and memberships and was no help and has us drive home bc a friend didn’t have his wallet today when we come every day and have been for past 3 years. Other gyms are understanding and that’s where people business should go to. Crunch needs to rethink the business plan, you’re loosing customers to your horrible staff and new rules. Not letting somone workout one day for free is wild when we have been paying a membership for years and now this kid comes along and we will no longer be coming and will b advising evyone else to go to other gyms

Negative experience: Manager is so rude to customers and is just overall shady when it comes to memberships. Edit cancelled my membership in May before graduation and am still being charged.. In fact they started charging me more. What a joke

Negative experience: I canceled my membership since July and came again in august to make sure that that was done! You will went ahead and charged me for September and worst you auto renewed my yearly membership!! How do you auto renew an already canceled membership. Efforts to reach a manager has been futile! Can you refund my 49.99 and I am not playing. I heard you do this a lot!

Positive experience: Great gym to work out in!.. I just wish they offer you a week pass for guys that travel on the road. Also wish the gym was a little bit bigger as it tends to get very tight when trying to work out in the afternoon or early evening.

Positive experience: Used to love coming to crunch however recently have had multiple issues with the young staff members they choose to leave up front.. I tried to return a pair of keys that I found on the ground to the front desk and the girl screamed at me "you can't be back here"! Lol I clearly wasn't even behind the counter not to mention they don't have a certain barrier that prohibits people from walking directly behind the counter because it's in an open space, I was just trying to return the car keys that someone lost and was yelled at for it. I give this three stars because the gym has a decent selection of weights however you have to go early in the morning or late at night or you will not be able to work out or have any space to work out in. Also as I seen somebody post before yes the dress code does need to be addressed feels like some of them are on the borderline of wearing next to nothin a reason why my girlfriend doesn't like being there.

Positive experience: Giving this a three-star because it is the only gym in town with free weights.. however me and my wife are going to cancel tired of seeing equipment not available or highschool kids in their without any sort of supervision just leaving stuff everywhere. My wife also is starting to feel uncomfortable because she is tired of seeing girls half naked workout next to her and posing in every mirror. I do agree to some extent with my wife with the dress code workout gear is one thing but come on now some of these girls are wearing pretty much next to nothing while they work out. I'm pretty sure if guys were to start coming in and work out with nothing on beside a speedo and tank top there would be an issue. Again three star rating because of the free weight selection however equipment maintenance/dress code needs to be addressed by management.

Negative experience: My bad that I have not reviewed these review comments earlier, they are money Hungary and don’t let you cancel your membership. Facility is not clean, equipment are old and lot of them are not usable due to pending maintenance. Toilets are not clean. Few years back they were really good, not anymore. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Four seasons is the cleanest gym and with lot of amenities. I joined four seasons now and happy. Some of my friends moved from Crunch to YMCA as well and they are enjoying I hope this review will help lot of people and I am not a person who writes review.

Negative experience: They don’t maintains their equipments anymore and bathroom is super dirty. I cancelled my membership even then they keep charging me monthly fee. Still following up with Manager name Sarah since July for the same, will update once I get the response.

Fantastic experience: Crunch is where it’s at! Before I found Crunch, I struggled with finding a gym that I loved since I moved to this area. The atmosphere is fantastic and you don’t ever feel like you’re being judged there. They have a variety of classes, so there’s something for everyone. My personal favorite are the HIIT classes; especially with Alicia because she brings the energy I need!!! She makes you feel accomplished and exhausted at the end of every class!! I also do personal training and have to say Khalil is by far the BEST personal trainer that I’ve worked with. He is very dedicated to the success of his clients and offers that motivation and extra push when you feel like you can’t go any further. Do the class…do the training…go to Crunch for it all. You won’t be disappointed!!

Negative experience: They "upgraded" my membership without telling after a year, then told me if I wanted to go back to my original membership tier it'd cost me a $45 dollar fee. Absolute crooks, staff was rude and condescending.

Negative experience: I would NOT leave your kids in the child care part while you work out. I peaked in the window in between working out to see my daughter being bullied by another little girl. She had her by her hair pulling it. There were THREE workers in there. Not ONE got up to stop it or even check to be sure my daughter was ok. Extremely careless staff/college students who don’t actually watch the kids. Aren’t friendly and clearly have no desire to be sure they’re safe and not being bullied. When I brought it to the attention of the other staff they acted as if it wasn’t a big deal.

Fantastic experience: I've met with 2 trainers, both were very informative and helpful during our workouts. The gym has plenty of machines and freeweights to choose from.

I had to send a certified letter stating my request to cancel with all of their crazy policy requirements. Crunch Fitness lost my business for life.

Fantastic experience: It’s pretty clean most members have sense staff is usually really nice and welcoming. I miss the music! I saw reviews on here people complaining about how loud the music is. Go to the YMCA for a scenary like that .The crowd here is younger we like loud ❤️ thank you staff please reconsider the music

Positive experience: If your main priority is variety of workout equipment then it's pretty good. Other than that it's super loud and feels like a barn. The staff also seem indifferent, but that's par for the course with chain gyms.

Negative experience: Gym itself is fine. Decent equipment and space. Biggest gripe is the music. Who actually wants to listen to music this loud and obnoxious. Everyone I see here has their earbuds in probably in a desperate attempt to drown out the noise. My own noise cancelling earbuds can barely drown out the noise. It really is that loud and definitely worsens my workout.

Negative experience: Friend of mine is a member so checked it out. Unfortunately a screaming match started with a muscle head and a senior staff did nothing. I hope they have cameras and it seems dirty. Wonder where the owners are at this franchise

Negative experience: If you try to cancel, they won't cancel. I walked in, signed some stuff, and "got my subscription cancelled!" They kept charging my card. I had to cancel my debit card, and now they will not leave me alone for more payments. I started getting up to 10 calls a day from a number that would hang up when I answered. I call it back. It's some Indian lady at, guess what? CRUNCH FITNESS! LEAVE ME ALONE! If I could give less stars, I would. I guess join the place if you wanna be a class action lawsuit down the line, eh?

Fantastic experience: There is always space to workout no matter what time we end up going. The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful.

Negative experience: good gym but when I moved they refused to cancel my account. I moved in may of 2023 and finally got them to cancel my membership in March of 2024. They’re money hungry and have no empathy for people struggling financially.

Positive experience: Pros: Great gym size, lots of room, decent equipment, mixture between bodybuilding and more of corporate gym. Bathrooms are decently cleaned throughout the day. There is always room to workout, park or do something productive here. Great products for sale in terms of sports drinks, pre workouts or protein shakes. Great workout mixes on the speakers, meant to keep you energized with top hits from most genres Cons: Staff, some of them, especially on weekends greet you with a face that look to be disappointed that people even workout at this gym during their shifts! Very clicky staff, they for sure talk about the people who workout here (I’ve heard them point laugh and talk about people) Parking during some hours, but not too bad. For some reason there is only ONE clock in this gym, I’ve never seen a gym with only one clock and out at the worst possible location.

Negative experience: The napkin boxes are always empty. I think they only load them in the morning and they don’t care replacing the ones that run out. This is so dangerous because you will not be able to wipe down a machine before using it. I sent them a couple of messages about it, but nothing has changed. I am really disappointed at the level of cleanliness there.

Positive experience: Your gym hours are very confusing. When you call it says "open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week", which isn't true. Google maps has you guys opening back up at 12am (Monday morning), but your website says you open at 5am. Getting all of the avenues of information on the same page might prevent confusion.

Fantastic experience: Insanely knowledgeable and personable trainers, and staff! Trell is the coolest dude, always bringing good vibes and pushing people to be the best they can be!! Good equipment as well!

Negative experience: Signed up didn't really go went to cancel my membership one staff member said it would be canceled never got canceled then they charged me went again they said I had to pay 2 months and annual fee before cancel I paid it and singed the cancel membership paper still has not been canceled I have paid $130 and can't get them to cancel my membership haven't been to the gym in 2 months I just want my membership canceled to stop paying for a gym I don't use

Positive experience: I have been going to Crunch Fitness for 3+ years however I just switched to Planet Fitness. The reason? Cleanliness! While Crunch has everything you need, the place is soo dirty. The machines have a thick layer of dust on them, the floors have large dust bunnies, the men's locker room floor is filthy, the inside of the lockers are nasty and the garbage cans are usually overflowing. Planet Fitness is a lot cleaner. Hopefully Crunch can do something to improve their cleaning regimen.

Negative experience: Suck at management. My body scan has been rescheduled/ cancelled twice before and it got changed prior to my communication this time which is pathetic.

Negative experience: This place is too busy and too loud for my taste. They should have a different room for people over 60 to get exercises with different music and not as many people. Very similar to Four Seasons in Bloomington. This was not a good experience for me.

Negative experience: This particular crunch gym is always filthy dirty and tanning room floors are never kept clean and I would bet never mopped ever. This gym needs a big time focus on cleanliness because it's always nasty. Workers at the counters could and should be out cleaning the place if more than one at the counter checking people in like their usually is instead of spending all their time on their phones when not busy. Another important factor is that this crunch fitness is slammed by Illinois state university students and will be hard to get a workout because their isn't enough pieces of the important equipment so you have to fight for one machine instead of having at least 3 of the same important machines needed. Also not nearly enough 45lb. plates so your always fighting for weights as well as flat benches because there's only 3 and thousands of members there. Also their fountain sucks and only one and even though there's two built in next to each other only one works with pressure when someone else is drinking from the other.Its clear that even though this gym has many thousands of members that the owners who live out of state don't care about making customers happy and fixing the filthy conditions and to little of equipment and fountain issue. This gym makes a ton of money and could easily fix these small issues if the really cared. I have seen so many people join and quit to never come back joining other gyms in town because of these issues. I'm sure it will never change since it's went at least 3 years like this since opening. Please more duplicates if machines, more 45 lb plates and more than 3 flat benches and more than one incline bech to. And of course keep this place clean daily because it's a health hazard at times.

The group fitness coordinator really listens to concerns and is always asking what classes and times could be offered to better suit the group as well as individuals. I tried other gyms but came back to this one because of her and other staff that work hard and consistently show up. Every time I’m there, I see the GM helping members or training a part of her team. Nicely done, Blono Crunch! ❤️

Additionally, I always feel comfortable working out there and actually look forward to going. It’s always clean as well!! What more could you ask for?!

Fantastic experience: Crunch Normal is the best location I’ve been to. Its staff is way nicer and the gym overall is cleaner than the Champaign, Murfreesboro, Gainesville, and midland location. Crunch Normal has the best staff and trainers I have ever met!

Fantastic experience: Just want to brag on the staff of this gym! They are always so kind and helpful. They know my name and say hello to me and my daughter every day which is just a nice added benefit to this gym. I have been bringing my daughter to the kids crunch for about a year now and I cannot say enough great things about the girls who watch the kids! Hannah and Kendall are phenomenal and I feel so comfortable leaving my daughter with them! The manager, Angie, is amazing! She is very involved with everything! Overall great gym.

Fantastic experience: This place is an awesome facility, has an awesome staff, and amazing trainers. One of my absolute favorite places to be!

Negative experience: Highlights- Overcrowded: Always have to wait for equipment. Unclean. Lots of treadmills, you can arrange marathon here. Will be cancelling membership.

Negative experience: This is honestly one of the dirtiest gyms I’ve ever worked out in. I have found chewing tobacco pouches in the cardio machine cup holders multiple times and multiple days in a row. The water fountains are so gross I would rather dehydrate myself. There are dust bunnies and hair all throughout the gym. I don’t think under the dumbbells has ever been cleaned. I’ve never seen anyone cleaning. If a clean gym is high on your priority list, this is not the gym for you.

Fantastic experience: The facility is very good, i loved the vibe and the environment. Recently i moved to other city and I need to cancel my membership. I tried calling the facility many time but no one responds. please suggest a method apart from coming to the location.

Negative experience: STAY AWAY! BE WARNED if you go cheap you will get cheap service. The biggest problem is once you try to cancel your membership - they will charge you at least one more time and that's not all. I moved to another state so I had to send a written cancellation letter request. I called them ten days later to verify if the membership was canceled. They told me that the manager will call me back to let me know, but he never did. Since then I have been calling almost daily but it looks like since then they have blocked my phone number and I can’t get in touch to confirm my cancellation. I was forced to open a charge dispute with my bank to make sure that they don’t charge me anymore. Their practices are very SCAMy. Just go to a Four Seasons or any other fitness gym around. If you go to this location of Crunch, I guarantee you're gonna be sorry! I don’t think Crunch as a company endorses such unprofessional behavior. My best guess is bad local management, but anyway I’m very sorry I signed up there. Reply to the owner: Yes, your reply confirms what I wrote above. I need to come there in person and a month in advance to cancel. With the same success, you could write in your contract that I should notify you 1 year in advance and I should go in person to London to be able to cancel. Maybe not a SCAM but next to a SCAM. And didn’t you conveniently forget that I moved to another state? The first 2 times I called, the phone was answered immediately. The first one to learn that I needed to send you a written request and the second time to try to confirm that the cancellation was successful. I was told 'the manager will contact you', just never to hear from you again. Since then I have called at least 15 times - no answer... It's very very easy to sign up but when it comes to cancellation it is hard as hell. Judging from other reviews it looks like I’m not alone. People should know about this and it shouldn't be hidden in the fine print. If this is not a SCAMy practice I don't know what is...

Negative experience: They allowed a 16 year old to sign a "contract" which took money from my account. I tried to speak to the manager several times but she won't speak with me.

Fantastic experience: Angi, khristi, Ashley did a great job hiring Steve and manegment is getting better. Steve keeps this place clean and is always super friendly.

Fantastic experience: I usually dont write reviews, but Steve's customer service and work ethic made me write one today. Most of the workers usually are just hanging around, but Steve is constantly moving and making sure the gym is clean and looking nice. He also helps people with learning the proper form for exercises if they do not know it. Hands down the best worker I have seen at Crunch so far. Keep up the good work Steve!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this gym for over a year and I’ve noticed that the hiring of Steve has substantially improved the gym’s cleanliness and overall atmosphere. He’s always working his tail off whenever I see him, and he does it all with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. This gym has noticeably become better with him being on staff.

Fantastic experience: Angie Ashley and Khristie did a great job hiring Steve . Place is cleaner than ever . Also great customer service and help . He power washed the bathroom for me so I was able to take a clean shower !!!!

Positive experience: Good gym but the Cleanliness is to be desired. I see a lot of people standing up front They could be cleaning. Just checked the benches There's about an inch of hair and dirt. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting at times. They really need to hire a cleaning crew instead of relying on the desk person.

Fantastic experience: really clean, also pretty cheap compared to other gyms. you get a lot more equipment and space. the place gets busy as hell but that’s a gym, overall really nice and the workers there are always the sweetest & willing to help you. shoutout steve!
