IRON Fitness Gym Brentwood: Opinions
Fantastic experience: The boxing program is one-of-a-kind and awesome. Equipment is excellent and unconventional like the prowler, ropes, arcade-game style bikes, kettle bells, olympic weights, safety squat bar, TRX's and woodways.

Fantastic experience: Jermain was the man ! Made the intense workout insanely fun. 10/10 will go again!
Fantastic experience: A real gym for serious athletes. There are plenty of selectorized as well as plate loaded machines. Lots of squat racks too. The large selection of dumbbells is a plus. Lots of leg and glute machines. A bodybuilders paradise.

Fantastic experience: Been going for two years and love the vibe and clean equipment! Everyone working here greets you with a smile. This is probably the only place that always have treadmills available! Great classes as well.
Positive experience: I joined this gym about a year ago because I was impressed that everyone in there looked "normal". No posing in spandex in front of the mirrors. It has been a great experience. The staff is friendly and it is always clean.
Fantastic experience: What a fantastic place to train! Trainers are the best in LA

Fantastic experience: Have nothing but positive things to say about this gym. It's clean, organized, maintained and the staff have always been very professional.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to workout & train! Highly recommend to anyone. The staff is very nice & helpful with anything you may need. The music is always great to keep you motivated. They have towel service and clean locker rooms. Joe a personal trainer there is very knowledgeable & can get you to your goals. Omar the boxing coach will definitely give you a tough but great workout class. Very pleased with my overall experience with IRON Brentwood! Noah is always there to great you at the front desk! Stop by to try them out!
Negative experience: Dropped by to get some info on a membership but the guy at the front desk didn't want to help.me because his shift was over and the next person was late. Even the guy said he was ride after a second and asked me what I wanted to know. Just told me the standard open gym rate was $90. I laughed and left the place.
Positive experience: Chad and his team are great. Get your body in the shape you deserve. Been going for years and facility is clean and organized. Trainers are patient and very knowledgeable! Try the boot camp and classed you will not be disappointed! Thanks IRON Fitness Gym Brentwood and Chad!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Low key. Good gear. Awesome trainers. Neighborhood vibe. Worked 1-on-1 with Melissa for the last 8 weeks and dropped 30! No joke. She rocks. And so does IRON!
Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Very clean, great variety of equipment, and the trainers and staff are all great! Boxing classes are THE BEST.
Fantastic experience: I weight lift and take the boxing classes at this gym. The classes are fantastic, they're a mix of circuit training and boxing, and they can be adjusted to fit beginners through seasoned athletes. If you're new, your first glove rentals are free, after that it's $3 a class for gloves and $3 for wrap rentals. According to my heart rate monitor, I regularly burn at least 500 calories per class, often more.
Positive experience: Not a great selection of equipment
Negative experience: I'm not sure what was worse - getting injured in the head at Iron Fitness (specifically a heavy metal bar landing full speed ahead and hitting me so hard in the back of the head that I was out laying on the floor for several minutes) or their response - but both were shocking and upsetting to experience. I have worked out at Iron many times without incident (and at many other places for close to two decades) and never experienced anything anywhere like this before. Yes, while adjusting an exercise machine, the bar dropped, smashing my head and knocking me out. I was on the ground for several minutes in the middle of the gym. No one came over to me to check on me, to see what was going on, if I was ok, etc. After getting my senses back, shocked over what transpired and surprised that no one came over to me, I reported the incident to the front desk. The woman at the front desk then brought over another staff member who - rather than expressing the type of human emotion and reaction one would expect (concern, empathy, etc.) - instantly blamed me for getting injured in the head. Needless to say, I was extremely taken aback. I lodged a complaint with the front desk and asked them to have management call me. They never did. While I was concerned about a potential concussion, they didn't care enough about what transpired to call me to see how I was doing, if I was ok, etc. let alone respond to my dissatisfaction over the horrific response (and lack of response) to a head injury caused by a piece of their equipment. Given that this was my first negative experience with this gym, I called a few days later to speak to a manager to explain the situation. He seemed understanding and we appeared to reach a resolution. Later that week, however, that manager called me and changed his tone, and even threatened to "come after" me if I wrote a Yelp review detailing what transpired. Needless to say, I am in disbelief that a business exists where this can actually happen. I tried getting in touch with the owner, who I assumed would be horrified to learn what had transpired. Instead, the same manager called me back to tell me that the owner has no interest in getting involved. It is amazing, especially in the age of Yelp, that a business would be ok with a customer getting injured in the head on their premises by their equipment, would immediately try to blame the customer for getting injured, would threaten to "come after" the customer if they publicly disclosed what transpired, and would default to trying bullying tactics over demonstrating even basic compassion or care. I actually really enjoyed this gym before this before incident revealed the true colors of the people behind it.
Negative experience: Disclaimer: I only used the gym area and have never taken a boxing class there. As far as the gym area goes, its a "ok" gym, the equipment gets a 3/5, the locker room has two small changing rooms that is being occupied by certain individuals for 1-2h for their daily washing regimen on a regular basis. The staff is Ok and occasionally says "Hi" and "goodbye". The trainers are careless and will stand and watch how a 14 year old boy lifts heavy weights while being inches away from a spine injury. That said, this was perhaps the main reasons why I cancel the membership. If you think this is a "nice" neighborhood gym, I can insure you it is NOT and you feel more welcomed at a mass gym such as LA Fitness or 24h Fitness.
Fantastic experience: I have been going here for about 4 years now. This if you want a small gym that feels like a second home, come on over here. You will not regret it!
Fantastic experience: This is a great gym. Loved the staff while I was their. Would recommend to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and great experience. Just travelled in from CT for the week and came across Iron after looking at all the gyms online. Wise choice! Good equipment, very accommodating and friendly staff, and cool members. Definitely give it a try.
Positive experience: Clean place, friendly staff, but they do Not have an Ab machine or the antigravity machine for pull up and the eliptical machine is low end and made my knee hurt when I tried it. Hope they upgrade the eliptical machine and buy the other two so I could join this gym.
Negative experience: Seems to be for the most part, a very disorganized staff and mgmt. Trainers seem decent but hire some operations/mgmt that know business and basic client service.
Negative experience: I've never seen a Manger act this way. After training all my life in gyms I got the worst service in my life. Me and my friend came and wanted to borrow focus mits to train by ourselves we were explained that only a certified trainer can hold mitts, I've explained that I'm training in boxing and muay thai over 16 years and know how to use them. still I was denied. Than after the class was over there was15 min between the next class and we started to use the heavy bags for 10 min and finished before the class was over , than the manager noticed and started yelling on us and kicked us out . Worst experience of my life from a gym will never come back here .
Negative experience: While the boxing classes offer one of the best cardio workouts on the Westside and ClassPass, I can't recommend this place for new boxers because of the attitude of Jonnie, one of the trainers. While a lot of the trainers treat every member the same, Jonnie shows an extreme preferences towards cute girls and is really hard on guys who are new to the sport of boxing. He'll be patient with new, cute girls and give them simple combinations to raise their confidence, but with new guys, he will try and break you down during any mitts session. He's impatient, rude, and more concerned with his own boxing "career" than he is with teaching his clients. Trainers like Jonnie are the reason why people are so concerned with "ego" in boxing gyms. It ruins the experience and makes you more worried about being insulted instead of feeling good about the effort you're putting in. If Jonnie ever leaves, the boxing classes at Iron are one of the best workouts in LA. Until then, new guys beware. He's got it out for you.
Negative experience: I was there today to see if I can get a trainer because I need to lose a couple pounds and the staff that is their socks she probably thought I was there to clean the place or do something else besides trying to join the gym I was trying to do this in my way to home from work not a really good experience.
Fantastic experience: The boxing program is one-of-a-kind and awesome. Equipment is excellent and unconventional like the prowler, ropes, arcade-game style bikes, kettle bells, olympic weights, safety squat bar, TRX's and woodways.
