- Caring Staff: Our staff is dedicated to providing great customer service and support to all members.
While we strive to deliver an excellent experience, we recognize there are areas for improvement based on member feedback:
- Communication regarding scheduling and facility availability can be inconsistent, which has occasionally led to frustration among members.
- Some users reported issues relating to event organization and child watch services, expressing a desire for more clarity and professionalism.
- Certain amenities need regular maintenance, particularly in humid conditions, to ensure safety and usability.
Despite these challenges, we continually work on enhancing our service and welcome your feedback. Join us at Bethany YMCA to discover a welcoming place to get fit, stay active, and connect with others in your community!
Bethany YMCA: Opinions

Negative experience: For athletes I do not recommend, unless you’re looking for “low impact” workouts - they emphasize your safe zone…
Hello Cachi. Although your safety is one of our main concerns when handling heavy exercise equipment, we do provide many amenities for all athletes. We highly recommend our personal trainers who will provide one-on-one tips to help you gain the healthy lifestyle you are seeking. We’re sorry the current amenities we have didn’t meet your expectations needed for your exercises, but we’ll be happy to hear what we could add to our wide variety! Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Bethany YMCA – A Community Fitness Gem! ♂️ As a Google Trusted Photographer and Level 8 Local Guide, I had the opportunity to shoot a virtual tour at Bethany YMCA, and I have to say—this place is all about fitness, family, and community vibes! What Stands Out? ✔️ Massive Cardio & Weight Room – Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, and strength equipment to keep your workouts on track. No waiting in line here! ️♂️ ✔️ Indoor Pool & Aquatics – Whether you’re doing laps or joining a water aerobics class (shoutout to Suz & Gretchen for amazing instruction! ), this pool is a solid win. ✔️ Group Fitness Studio – A spacious and well-lit room perfect for high-energy classes or solo stretching sessions. ♀️ ✔️ Clean & Functional Spaces – Not the newest YMCA, but well-maintained, bright, and welcoming! Staff is friendly and keeps things running smoothly. If you’re looking for a great spot to get active and stay connected with the community, Bethany YMCA is a solid choice. Thank you so much for providing current and future Y members with pictures and a thorough summary of what we have to offer at our facility, Bill! We enjoy working with you and thank you again for the wonderful review.
Negative experience: We had a birthday party there this weekend and it was unorganized mess. The front desk lady was rude and loud, not someone you would want around 6 year old children. There wasn’t a lot of communication about the event in general @ anytime. We use the Midwest city location for day camps but were unable to make reservations for this party but love it there. I was expecting this location to be the same and Im just extremely disappointed in the way we were treated by staff.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the poor experience during your child's birthday party this past weekend, Jennifer. We are truly disappointed to hear about the poor communication you received and the unprofessional behavior displayed by our staff. What you've described falls short of the values we strive to uphold, and we're so sorry we let you down. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. Please know your review has been shared with our leadership team in order to address your experience with our staff and improve our communication plans moving forward. We hope should you choose to give us another chance, you find your experience much improved.
Negative experience: Very sad that my community YMCA will no longer be offering adult exercise swim in the afternoon. I am happy to see them support the local schools in the community, but interrupting our exercise schedule with no notice at all, No communication to members, is frustrating. Countless of times I have made the drive to the YMCA just to be met with that either the schedule changed, suddenly, with no notice. or that they are not honoring the schedule that is printed out. I Utilize my membership for the sole purpose of using the pool. It’s been several months now that the pool schedule has been very inconsistent with little to no notice. And today, after making the drive after work as I usually do, I realize along with other frustrated members, that for the next few months we will not be able to utilize the pool in the afternoons. I am so sad and frustrated. I will now no longer have the opportunity To complete my Pool workout or water physical Therapy. Very disappointed with the value and quality of my membership with the Bethany YMCA.
Jessica, we appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration regarding the changes to the afternoon swim schedule. We apologize for the lack of communication about these changes and the inconsistencies you've experienced. While our goal is to serve the community, which includes supporting local schools, we recognize the impact this has on our members and the member experience. We value your membership and your commitment to the Y and community. Our facility and association leadership staff have seen this review and are grateful you shared this feedback. It has provided us with clear opportunities for improvement. While we work on this, we would love the opportunity to hear more about your experience. When you have a moment, could you please reach out to us at [email protected]? We'll make sure your message gets to the right people.
Positive experience: I participate in two classes at the Bethany Y. The classes themselves are fine. One class involves active movement on the wooden dance floor. When the weather is humid outside, the floor becomes extremely sticky and somewhat dangerous. So be very careful! I just finished physical therapy due to pulling my leg Muscle while using that floor for dance classes. When the weather is dry and not humid, it seems to be better… Caution.
Jamie, thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and have passed these concerns on to our leadership team. Thank you again.
Positive experience: A great place to allow your children to have fun and make new friends. Recently we’ve had swimming lessons for the kids. And they loved it! I do want to say that the restrooms for 17 and under are not as great as the ones for adults. I would prefer them to quickly take a shower and change in the restrooms of adults but they are super strict not allowing children there, it’s understandable. Which sucks but over all an okay place.
We're glad to hear your children enjoyed the swimming lessons, Romelia! We appreciate your feedback regarding the restrooms for ages 17 and under. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Fantastic experience: My wife is going through PT, she really likes it and the instructor.
We're so glad to hear that your wife is enjoying her PT sessions with us! Thank you for the positive feedback.
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Friendly Staff. Love the Fitness Center and the sense of community with other members at this location.

Fantastic experience: Love this YMCA. I work out at this one and the Plaza location. Bethany's staff are incredibly friendly. Love the activities for families, especially sports and swim lessons.

We're glad you enjoy the activities for families, especially the sports and swim lessons. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].
Fantastic experience: So far, so good. Today was our first day, but the staff was Super friendly and helpful. The place was clean, organized, and just really nice. Absolutely would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Water aerobics is great, Monday thru Friday. Instructors are great staff is very helpful. I love it!
Positive experience: It was clean. Staff was curtius. Indoor swimming pool is a plus.
Fantastic experience: Calm atmosphere
Fantastic experience: Very well kept and great staff!! Emma, Tae, Devon, and Sebastian are so patient and knowledgeable. They make membership easy!
Negative experience: They take your money even if you aren’t able to attend the programs due to Covid. Specifically swimming.
Fantastic experience: Haven't been in the gym in a while but I'm going all in getting ready 14th I'll be 60 just want to get my sexy back lol
Fantastic experience: Great facility, plenty of useful equipment!
Fantastic experience: Nice, quiet, clean, & friendly
Fantastic experience: Bartenders are awesome excellent customer service definitely going to return
Fantastic experience: I enjoy coming to this location. The basketball gym is pretty big and offers enough basketballs to practice with. It's never too busy and I always have a good time.
Negative experience: Whoever answers the phones are very rude, and impolite.
Positive experience: They need a more place for kids. Play
Positive experience: YMCA is great but paid for basketball no coach showed up and no one from gym offered to assist the kids from y. Kids just played. Paid 85 dollar for 2 day of coaching and no coach even showed. My child really wanted to play.
Fantastic experience: Excelente servicio
Fantastic experience: Very kind staff
Fantastic experience: Pool was very nice.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: I never even thought of becoming a member of the YMCA until my family started coming about a year ago. I enjoy seeing Trystan at the front desk when I visit during the mid-afternoon. Shes very professional and friendly!!
Fantastic experience: Very kind, friendly and helpful staff, great cardio class, recommend
Positive experience: It was
Negative experience: They don't have any evenings lap time swim. All the other Y's have times after 1pm.
Positive experience: Very nice and reasonably priced!
Positive experience: They are not at regular hours yet they are short handed trying to hire more help
Negative experience: The sports director and front desk are very unhelpful at this location. The North Side Y is far superior.
Positive experience: nice place
Negative experience: Growing frustrated with this location. They post up front their basketball gym is open 3-5 on Saturdays, but then close at 4. We have people paying day passes to only get an hour of basket time. I want to like this place and continue a membership, but the hours they have the basketball goals available is just not enough to make a membership worth it.
Positive experience: The pool and the basketball courts is never available.... they always have daycare or basketball practice...
Fantastic experience: Awesome place for family and friends
Fantastic experience: Was good
Fantastic experience: The pool at the Bethany Y has wide lanes and is rarely too crowded. I love that I can swim at any Y depending on my schedule, even when I’m in another state on vacation!
Fantastic experience: Faculties are always clean and employees are very friendly
Fantastic experience: The girl at the desk had great Customer service skills!
Fantastic experience: Good Times with my friend
Fantastic experience: Today was my first time back to the pool since the pandemic started and it was wonderful! I was surprised to find that the pool just recently had a facelift and it has glistening white grout and new tile inside the pool. Amazing. I am in a lot of pain now but I will have to work through it as a build my body back up through physical therapy to avoid using a cane or walker. #lupusawareness #rheumatoidarthritis #autoimmuneawareness
Fantastic experience: Very clean and fogging done regularity. I work there in the fitness center.
Fantastic experience: My grandson is participating in the the 4U coed basketball program. The coach and assistant coach are wonderful with the children, and they are really enjoying learning to play.
Fantastic experience: Attended a T-Ball game at this location. It was easy to find, good parking, and parking was close to field...we even had shade to sit in ! Yay!
Negative experience: The staff were not friendly
Negative experience: Really poor experience when trying to host a birthday party here. There was zero communication between the person who took our reservation and our deposit and the staff that were actually working the front desk. They had zero notice, nothing was planned, it was a scramble on the front desk staff to setup out room. This is not a poor reflection on the front desk staff, they worked very hard to try to make everything great. The managers of this location let down a lot of people today, including their employees.
Positive experience: Has potential but needs improvement in scheduling classes and making swimming pool more available for working adults. x
Negative experience: Very poor personal conduct from the staff such a shame when the YMCA is supposed to represent and embrace equality and respect. Their manner is not conducive to the ethics The YMCA is known for. New Members be aware.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Easy on my bank account The people who work here put up with a lot of nonsense from the customers and still do a great job. They went from becoming ymca employees to people I look forward to seeing every day. They’re great and I very much appreciate what they do
Fantastic experience: Son loves playing bball specially at the Y.. Everyone is always so kind and helpful. They even offer financial help if needed. Great place for little younglings
Fantastic experience: Very friendly atmosphere!
Negative experience: I would give a better rating as I thought this was going to be a great investment for my family but due to not having a checking account, we have been excluded from membership. Of course I have already paid the joining fee as well as 3 months of service for them to wait until now to tell me that I cannot continue my membership without a checking account. I also have two children who are enrolled in sports who are going to be very disappointed. I guess if you have a checking account the membership is nice to have, but beware that depending on who you talk to on any particular day, their policies may change
Positive experience: I’ve been coming to this ymca for 10yrs, remodeled weight room a couple years ago made it a big improvement. Weekday evenings get crowded especially for a smaller gym, Dumbbells only go up to 100#, no bounce plates for heavy power lifting, free weight area is small but good equipment. Staff is pretty cool. I’ll keep coming.
Fantastic experience: Love the Zumba class and you can't beat the price!!
Negative experience: Worst Y ever!!
Negative experience: Wont be back since i dont have a swimming suite now after 2 years coming here and swimming in my shorts. Came just last week they didn't have a problem now all of a sudden its a problem im not showing anything. Too damn hot
Negative experience: I walked in the Bethany YMCA at 6:15pm on 1/31/17 so I could workout. After I signed in, I went in the childcare room to drop off my 3 children (3 mo, 3 yrs, and 7 yrs). There was one staff (we'll call her staff A) at the time and MANY children including 2 infants and a toddler that had been crying so much she was nearly sick already yet she was fine with me leaving my 3 children. I hesitate in leaving them... I go ahead and sign them in. I change my baby and sit down and nurse her. The second staff (we'll call her staff B) finally showed up and they finally got the hysterical toddler's mother. Then older baby starts crying. Staff B watches older baby and comments on him crying yet watches him cry for roughly 3 minutes without consoling him. Staff B finally gets him out of his carseat and changes his diaper. Baby boy is roughly 4 months old. She walks around the other side of the trash can to get a bag for the diaper. Baby is still crying on the changing table and now out of arms reach of any adult. Staff B then picks baby boy up and tries to calm him while staff A gets his bottle ready. Neither staff knows baby boy's name, age, or any idea who his parent is. Baby boy is still crying and too upset to take his bottle. New parent drops off her toddler then asks to hold crying baby (not her baby nor does she know baby), staff hands baby to random parent. Random parent attempts to calm baby boy while staff A and B try to figure out who baby boy is. I suggest looking at the sign in paper to look at ages to narrow it down. Staff finally figures out who baby boy is and works on finding his parent. Front desk lady walks in (we'll call her staff C) and asks staff who lady is holding crying baby boy, both staff A and B say they don't know that she was dropping off her daughter. Staff C asks random parent if she knows baby boy and she says she doesn't that she was just trying to help. Staff C then takes baby boy from random parent. As this is happening, I am taking things out of the baby bed in the corner of the room since staff says the infant swing is broke. I get all the toys out of the bed and see mouse poop on the bed sheet in the baby bed. I show staff C this and she claims that the bed is not used often. I then tell my big kids to get ready and explain to staff I do not feel comfortable leaving my children and leave the childcare room. I am fully disgusted with this entire experience and will not be taking my children back to the Bethany YMCA. I have pictures of the mouse poop on the baby bed.
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing$$$$$$$$$$$$$♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡!
Fantastic experience: My kid had swimming lessons and they reached her really good
Positive experience: exelente
