Negative experience: My wife and I were members of the gym, we thought it was an ok gym so we moved to lifetime for some extra amenities that we were looking for. Cancellation process was easy, at that point I would have give them a 4 star review. I’m giving them a 1 star review cause they have this shady practice where they called me on a daily basis to let me know that I had a “FREE” massage, I never answered the phone since I was busy but through voicemail I knew about the reason of the call. When I was traveling outside the country I got a moment to answer the phone, they explained me about the massage options, I thought it was a great opportunity to relax so I took the “FREE” massage, she told me that it was expiring on Feb 5th and that was the exact same day that I was coming back from my trip, I told the lady on the phone that I’ll schedule it but that I was coming back from my trip that day, that I’ll do my best to assist and enjoy the session, long story short I couldn’t make it to the appointment so I just thought that unfortunately I lost my “FREE” massage and that was it, WELL FOR ANY REASON THEY KEPT MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION AND CHARGED ME $80 FOR THE FREE MASSAGE I WAS TOLD THE WHOLE TIME!! Save your time and find another gym without this type of shady and unprofessional practices, you’ll thank me later.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for 5 year now and I’ll say the staff are so ready to help. I feel welcome every time I scan in! My only annoyance is that even though I’ve been a member for 5 years I now have to pay a summer fee of $100 to use the pool (when I never had to before) The facilities are always clean and they have enough machines that cover every muscle group

Negative experience: I just hate the fact that to get an answer for monthly membership, you need to hear a whole script then be told how the prices vary, then be told someone will have to call you back. I had a membership & cancelled but my son would like one now, I was willing to see if it would work but I feel like I’m at a timeshare event, Everything a secret… then you sign!

Fantastic experience: While the fitness areas are more crowded than I’d prefer, the spa is super underrated. Been working specifically with therapist Huber regularly and he hits the right blend of being therapeutic and relaxing. He can dig in while also very attentive to what you’re looking to achieve. Try FFC union station for better fitness experience.

Fantastic experience: This club is so nice! Staff is friendly, the locker room is clean and spacious, the floors are open and airy with natural light, and the mind/body studio is quite pleasant. The outdoor pool is my favorite. It gets great sun and you can order smoothies and snacks right to your lounger. Nicole is the cafe manager, and she's super welcoming. It's just a really fun vibe at the pool!

Fantastic experience: I was a guest. I was impressed with the facility! So many perks! I was able to enjoy a recovery smoothie. I have many dietary restrictions aftery a suurgy, Nicole was extra accommodating, and made sure I left.

Fantastic experience: Always a clean facility and the general manager Mike always makes everyone feel welcome! The front desk receptionist area always there to greet you, and the pool in the summer is a great experience. There's also a pilates studio and spa area for massages. Great experience!

Negative experience: This is a $49 / month gym masquerading as a $199 / month gym and giving you "value" at $149. Missing key equipment, crowded, they're always cleaning it, so floors are soaking wet. Not a lot of towels to clean stuff. WEIRD People. They get 2 stars for the location, but that's about all it's worth. This area is RIPE for some real competition to come in and undercut.

Negative experience: This place is truly unbelievable and calls itself a health club and looks more like a Planet Fitness… Let’s start from the beginning I’ve been coming here since it opened back in 2011 and everything was great from staff to the gym itself..the staff was super nice, attentive, welcoming and the gym was very clean and fully equipped.. But now things have gone from great to worse staff is not as welcoming, attentive as it used to and there’s less equipment available since it’s super crowded almost every day so the machines are always super dirty like no one cleans them. And although they claim that cleanliness is their top priority they sure fall flat on this..and you might ask why..well they are always understaff and seems like only one short lady in the morning works since I see her going in and out the women’s locker room and to the laundry room to cleaning the floor.. To add to this lately they have been hiring people that only speak Spanish and seem to need a translator to understand what to do and what was said to them! Like really if I need help I’m not going to wait until somebody that is bilingual comes and translates what the problem/issue is.. Also why don’t you ever have a supervisor in the early morning when the gym opens for housekeeping? It seems to be the main reason why so many of them don’t do their job and are on the phone or watching videos online or even worse working out while still being paid. I mean with membership costs to the roof I don’t think it’s fair that we as members have to pay extra for a below than expected service.

Negative experience: My home gym is the Park Ridge location but decided to come to WL FFC for a work out before work. I had signed up for the Signature membership but primarily went to my home gym so hadn’t explored other FFCs. The front desk wouldn’t allow me in, asking for an additional charge because I was not registered to the gym. I showed her a copy of my contract which she wouldn’t accept. I wasted my time waking up early and going out of my way to come here. She said there wasn’t anyone for me to talk at the time clarify discrepancy. I will likely be cancelling my membership because I pay too much for this gym to be turned away for what sounds like an administrative error in my account. Don’t waste your time or money.

Negative experience: This place has really gone down hill. The one true positive here is the cleaning staff - they do a great job keeping the place looking good. Almost everyone else on the payroll from management to the front desk is either completely inept or entirely indifferent to doing their job. Equipment is also often broken for prolonged periods of time, the layout of the gym itself makes no sense, and the showers tend to go from hot to scalding without notice. The pool is great, that is until it gets so crowded from all the outside nonmember day guests they let in on the weekend that you can't find a chair. They also keep raising prices, and for what you are actually getting in return it's pretty ridiculous. It's basically a way overpriced LA Fitness with a pool. We've decided to cancel. It's just not the same gym it used to be before covid.

Negative experience: Hours looked different today (Saturday July 6, 2024) so I called the location to double check. The lady who answered at 1:45 pm told me that close is 8 pm and not 6pm like the app showed. I plan my day around this, and of course the location closed early. Ruined my day. How can you be on shift and not know when you close?

Negative experience: Just clearly communicated my order to the girl with braids at local 84 counter. Ordered a protein shake. First of all the girl was not friendly, moving too fast and ruined my order. First terrible experience here! Hope they find someone else to run the counter.

Positive experience: Best gym in West Loop.. indoor and outdoor pools. It would be nice if the staff policed weight droppers and guys that bring their bags to the gym floor.

Negative experience: I have been a member for 5 years and here is my honest feedback and review: (both west loop and Union locations) Let me start with the positive. The housekeeping staff are great and they do try to keep things clean and tidy. The upper level management and membership services are extremely disappointing and in disarray. I should also point out that they do not invest back into their facilities so things are frequently broken for prolonged period or working less than optimal. This includes steam, leaky showers, water fountain/ temperature, hand sanitizers etc. In summer months, they let so many outside guests into their outdoor pool, that regular patrons like myself cannot find a chair to sit. On the other hand, I get 2 guest passes a month on my membership plan. Very seldom I have brought a guest and the front desk people just go into this confused look and frenzy that becomes terribly awkward. I literally have to show the email notification from FFC to claim it. My brother was recently visiting for 2 days and just wanted to “look” at the indoor pool so he could come the following day with me with proper gear if he chose to. The front desk lady called the Union Station manager and we were told that the 3 minutes it would take us to go glance at the pool would count as a USED single day guest pass. I was truly taken aback by this despicable response. Lastly I asked the membership to switch from charging my bank to the credit card. It has become such a grueling task that I have literally given up asking their management people out of sheer embarrassment. Just STOP playing back and forth games and giving dishonest lip service. You tell me it’s “done”, “taken care of” and 4 months later the bank is still being charged when all you guys have to do is click another form of payment on your screen. I have on multiple occasions strongly considered canceling the membership. The way things are being handled here, at this time I do not recommend anyone to join.

Negative experience: I became a member at FFC in March of this year. I enrolled in the membership that comes with one massage a month. During my first massage, Huber T., the massage therapist asked me on a date and made comments about my body. This made me feel uncomfortable and I was counting down the seconds for the massage to be over. After the massage, I contacted the West Loop FFC location and was then redirected to HR, where both me and Huber were interviewed about the situation. Huber still works at FFC as a massage therapist. I was told by the South Loop manager, my home location, that my membership would be comped and I wouldn't need to pay anything for a few months until I decided if I was comfortable enough to stay at FFC. Fast forward two months, I check my paystubs because I have a discount through my job and the fees come out of my paycheck directly. FFC has taken 171 out of each of my paychecks for the last 2 months, 513 dollars, much higher than what the membership even costs. So not only am I being overcharged for a membership that I was told would be comped, but while trying to get a refund I am being sent on a wild goose chase and FFC is avoiding giving me a refund of the full amount. I am unhappy and I was hesitant to write this review, but it seems like the only option at this point. I should not have to beg for a refund, especially when I was told I wouldn't be paying a penny until I made a decision.

Positive experience: Great gym but there’s a pretty big problem with this place. Whoever is playing music at this gym NEEDS to be replaced. The music here is so bad it’s not even funny. Been going here a little over a year now and coming every other day consistently and the music is dreadful. They need to get some real gym music in here like hip hop, soul, and rnb. This place also doesn’t have a cold plunge with their steam room. But other than that it’s a good gym

Negative experience: The facility is clean, decent. But their membership fees don't reflect the type of club service and ambiance I'd pay for at that price point. The retail corner is pathetic. The café food is horrible and at a closer glance the kitchen could use a deep cleaning. The staff just look so miserable. Management clearly hasn't bothered with training because I never get consistent information/details, others members are always bickering with the front desk about the [poor] service. I don't enjoy walking into this place. The vibe is just OFF!!! I need a better environment to maintain my fitness journey. I chose to end my membership because the energy of the place doesn't accommodate that. No one looks genuinely happy to be working there. And no wonder-The GM is rude and the Member Experience Mgr has no clue about anything. They didn't even ask me why I wanted to cancel; clearly they've gotten used to it or don't want to hear why. So I'll gladly take my money elsewhere.

Negative experience: Today I popped in to do a bit of cardio, 20 mins before closing and the doors were locked. Lights were still on and lobby music still playing. This is unacceptable for a $240 membership. Do better! Ugh - Premier Member

Fantastic experience: Beautiful club in fantastic location. Great fitness classes and latest in fitness equipment. Plus an amazing outdoor pool with delicious food and drink. Locker rooms and fitness floors are super clean. Great value! Feels (and is!) luxury gym without the price tag. Member for 11 years..wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Negative experience: 5 star original review: I love my personal trainer, Sara, she's amazing! The yoga instructors are great but I wish they had more classes at lunchtime. Edited: 1/3/2024 So I still love Sara, she's an amazing trainer but sadly management has seriously let me down & frustrated me. They randomly increased my monthly membership fee without notifying me and when I called they said that they mailed me. That's right they sent me a physical letter, not an email or text message or notification on the app but a physical letter that I have not received. Also, my original agreement is no longer available for me to view online and was not emailed to me when I first signed up. However, I'm know that price was thoroughly discussed upon sign up and in that agreement. I'm so disappointed because the gym is great but this is shady business practice. Unless something changes, I'm going to be canceling my membership.

Positive experience: Nice place to work out. Indoor pool. Equipment is a little too close to one another. Less room to change weight. Only 1 straight leg extension machine. Lots of d bags are talking on their phones. Nice club, too bad west loop is filled with guys still living their college days.

Positive experience: It was my first visit to this location after signing up online, and it remains to be seen if I’ll be a member long term. I specifically signed up for access to the group fitness classes. The yoga mats in the mind/body studio need love or replacement… I had to keep brushing bits of the mat off of my legs. The yoga instructor was a bit scattered and didn’t have a cohesive flow to her class. We spent a lot of time down on our backs/seats for a heated vinyasa. Additionally, the cleaning wipes were completely dried up so I couldn’t wipe down the blocks I used. The women’s bathroom stall I used was out of toilet paper - how embarrassing. I’m going to give the other locations and instructors a shot before I decide to move on completely.

Negative experience: I've been a member since 2016 and absolutely enjoyed everything about the club. However, lately my experience has been poor with the newly hired staff at the club at more than two occasions. They lack ethics, are rude and disrespectful to the level of being patronizing. My complaint wasn't taken seriously enough which reflects on the deteriorating quality of customer care and overall member experience.There's a lot of great gyms in the area that offer great value for the money, no one wants to come home from the gym and sulk over the passive aggressive behavior of people who are being paid by your hard earned money.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here since it opened in 2011 and t is the cleanest gym I have ever been a member at. Just for reference, I have been a member at Lifetime Fitness, XSport and Cardinal Fitness. The desk and management are some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. It is isn't hard to stay motivated for pool season...oh yeah, the rooftop pool is awesome. Just make sure you get there early enough for a spot. Many people who don't belong to FFC buy day passes to take up "our" pool on the weekends. The weekends are best to work out if you're a local because it gets really crowded around 5:30-7pm when most people get out of work. Unfortunately, this is the time I go but I still enjoy most of the others there. It's just a really friendly place to work out and I would recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Finally! A Gym with a pool, hot tub, clean locker rooms and enough equipment where I have waited is here. FFC in the West Loops is where I get swollen, but then I hit the hot tub and beach for 20 minutes. It's a great place for the price and the facility. Tell Tony, in sales, The Scott Emo Show sent ya!

Fantastic experience: Best Club in Chicago! Clean, friendly, great classes - the Yoga instructors are great and match with professional Yoga studio instructors, it's not like gym Yoga. The equipment is top of the line with plenty of space for everyone - no waiting. TV's are plentiful, the pools are clean. The Protein Bar right in the facility is awesome!
Fantastic experience: I've been an FFC member since 2008 and have always found a positive ROI of my membership dues. My membership level allows me to visit every location, and besides Oak Park, I have. The West Loop gym is hands-down the best location. The spacious weights area doesn't make me feel like I'm competing for space. Their group fitness rooms are huge and the yoga studio is equipped for heat, which not all locations are. In the summer, every weekend you'll fine my sister and I at the rooftop pool enjoying the low calorie beverages after a hard morning workout. They have a Protein Bar restaurant right inside as well.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lots of equipment and many group classes available throughout the day. Super clean locker service, love their sauna and indoor pool. Lots of cardio equipment to choose from. Summer pool is a treat!. Only personal issue it takes to long to Park and get to the gym.

Fantastic experience: Super nice gym! Very knowledgeable and helpful trainers, friendly staff, plenty of equipment. Rarely have to wait for anything at all during the mornings and weekends. Classes are fun and fulfilling. It's a bit pricy but honestly you get what you pay for. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The staff are super nice, and the maintenance/ cleaning staff of the location are always sweet as well. There is always communication when there are changes regarding the club which is great, it is very convenient since I live upstairs in Presidential towers having FFC downstairs makes it super convenient to work out. There are a plethora of different machine types that make it easy for you to do any types of workouts whether it’s compound lifts or Olympic lifts or just cardio. Tons of classes to take as well.

Positive experience: I just recently joined this gym and I love it! Great facility, assortment of Weights and equipment. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Only issue I have is false advertising. I showed up on Saturday (09/03) 5:45 to have a staff member lock the door in front of me. Then when I try to enter he says they’re closed, even though online it says Saturdays and Sunday the West Loop location is open until 8pm. For a membership that costs over $100 a month you’d expect staff members to follow posted operating hours. I just don’t get how you can justify closing over 2 hours early without sending an email out or something. I am aware of the new turf they are installing and super excited about that, but I was made aware of that through email. But am very concerned that moving forward staff will continue to close early. I’ve read reviews about that happening but never experienced it before. Very upsetting I love this gym and the atmosphere but if my gym time is going to be cut over two hours early for no reason I have the urge to switch gyms.

Our holiday weekend hours are posted on our website, ffc.com/club-locations/west-loop, in our app, went out in 2 member emails, and are posted at the front desk. Google now does have the functionality to set temporary hours, which was not a feature we previously knew about. We have updated the FFC West Loop hours for tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday temporarily to reflect the holiday hours. Please know they are under review and may not update immediately. Fantastic experience: AS CUSTOMERS WE SHOULD HAVE CUSTOMER APPRECIATION. ALL THE MONEY WE PAY WOULD MAKE IT WORTH IT. I KNOW MOST OF THE WORKERS DO THE BEST THEY CAN IN SERVICING SOME OF THE MOST DEMANDING AND PRIVILEGED INDIVIDUALS IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. THEIR SHOULD BE A RECYCLING BIN FOR TOWELS PLACED ON THE FLOOR ETC. Negative experience: Just got word that for the second time within a year that they will be raising membership rates. $20 last year and now another $10 this year. I get that businesses are having a lot of trouble recovering post pandemic but maybe retaining your current members and not raising rates on them would keep your cash flow higher now that I will be leaving this gym over this increase. There are a lot more options for fitness these days and raising memberships alienating your current clientele seems to be a risky move.

Negative experience: I had a membership there and quit in February because the GM was psychotic if my mask slipped beneath my nose when I was running on the treadmill. They are the only gym in the city that gets this aggressive about it. My boyfriend and his brother still go here and this morning the GM went up to him and was physically standing over him because his mask fell beneath his nose. The machines are not socially distanced right now and the GM himself had his mask beneath his nose. They will both be cancelling their memberships as well. I go to gyms all over the city and no other establishment treats their members like this. Very nice gym and clean but would never go back to spend that kind of money and have somebody breathing down my neck like that. Regardless of covid guidelines, plenty of businesses enforce the mask mandate without being rude and aggressive and honestly just completely out of line about it. I know a handful of people that have quit this specific ffc location for exactly what I am saying. I am for a mask mandate if it means everyone is safer but you’re over the top.

Negative experience: Worst management! Give you the wrong Information which made you pay more money and their response is we can’t help you! I was talking with one of the manager and he mentioned our general manager (Ryan) says that!!! I told him at the end you forced me to go and write a review for FFC west loop and he said WE DON’T CARE ABOUT REVIEWS!!!!!! What a perfect manager!!!! I don’t recommend this club to anyone and I won’t go there anymore. As a loyal customer I am very disappointed and thinking of changing my membership to other clubs!

Positive experience: Toilet papers feels like sandpaper, would be nice to have a locked charging station for my phone while I workout but my girlfriend has no complaints. I have to admit thoooooo… its hella clean and there’s plenty of equipment. I love the views.

Negative experience: rules for outdoor pool are all over the place you never know if you can use the pool or if they have a private party they don't post it unless you show up and they want to charge you extra $65 to use the outdoor pool. Rules are changing all the time and managers are very aggressive if you complain about not knowing the rules. Terrible customer service and terrible communication with customers regarding rules.
Positive experience: The tour was great. The customer service is excellent. The facilities look exceptional. This would all be excellent if the cost was more reasonable . $90/ month is just way too much. Keep in mind this is more than double the cost of an average gym membership in the US.

Negative experience: While I continue to come here often, I’m very disappointed at FFC’s enforcement of their mask policy. I have spoken to management numerous times in the last few months about members not adequately following the policy (members wearing their masks only over their noses, or walking around with them on their chin), and while they say they do walkthroughs to enforce the rule, I am currently next to someone on my left with their nose out, and on my right who is an FFC employee not addressing this. While I do like the club’s equipment for the most part and believe this is only and issue during the pandemic, I still consider this a major failure on the part of FFC management, especially for the steep cost of membership.
