Fantastic experience: Worked up to 10 - 45lb plates & I'm still not where I use to be. The Legacy YMCA is my jam!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful place to get in the pool and swim, commune with friends, train and leave with a smile! Getting in shape was never so enjoyable. Seasonal Outdoor pool with 2 water slides and the beautiful year round heated Imdoor pool are just awesome to have access too, especially considering area aquatic staff shortages and facility closures in recent times makes Legacy Y an extra special blessing. The aquatics staff are amazing- they are always helpful, attentive and friendly and will frequently offer (both solicited and unsolicited) tips and advise on your swimming technique or insightful knowledge to elevate your aquatic experience. They also have both long-established year-round aquatics programs and newly launched pool programming for literally every member of the family no matter age and ability level. Why, you ask? They love the water and want everyone to enjoy it!!

Negative experience: I asked to cancel my membership last year and they said that it was canceled and now they want to charge my card for some membership I’m not paying for or using it something about that they posse why they gonna take money that I can’t even even in Ford to pay for When I’m on low income base is not right

Positive experience: Great

Negative experience: Being that this is a "family" type facility, you would think it would be run better. It is not a good place to work out in peace as an adult. Children run back and forth unchecked, yelling and acting as if the have no home training. Some of the staff can be quite rude and would make you want to leave. It's not worth the money to be mistreated.

Fantastic experience: My son just started preschool at this location and he is having the time of his life! The teachers are very kind and professional. I know my child is in good hands.

Negative experience: Yesterday and today it was so cold in the 2 back rooms we couldn't finish our yoga class,everyone had sweaters or jackets on. The noise from the air in the circuit room is so loud it hurts your ears. In the treadmill room there were no paper towels in either place. My friends and I are looking for another gym that has yoga to move to.

Fantastic experience: So much fun! Warm indoor pool. Awesome outside pool. So many different work out areas. Just signed our child up for soccer for half the price of non-members. Great, AMAZING coach Martin! I just love this place!

Fantastic experience: Great friendly complex. Aquatics are great place to game the endurance and has a numerous choices of swimming lessons for adults and children!

Positive experience: The YMCA is a good place for recreational activities like using the gym/workout room, the basketball court, racquet ball room, and indoor/outdoor pools. They even offer spin classes and swimming lessons/classes to adults and children. Their locker rooms has steam/sauna rooms and showers. They also have kids aftercare and summer programs. However the facility needs a deep cleaning in my opinion, I've noticed a lot of trash and miscellaneous items laying around inside and outside. Other than that it's decent.

Negative experience: If you are looking for child care or after school care I would not recommend this facility. My son 7yo was assaulted by a 12yo that was not suppose to have any contact with my son at the time. The 12yo kicked my son in the head and body causing a severe Head injury. The staff could not give me an explanation on what happened because the staff was not watching my child. It wasn’t until my son was screaming for his life that the staff noticed the end of the attack. The staff could not offer me or my family anything but a “Sorry”. No one call for medical help or notified the parents. My son could be died right now. Find another facility this is not it!

Positive experience: Great place for family activities! You'll find something to suit anyone's needs here. They have an outdoor pool, outdoor walking track, outdoor tennis & basketball court, soccer field, indoor gym, indoor pool, indoor weight room, indoor basketball court, playground & not to mention all of the events & classes.

Negative experience: Have told them that i did not want there services. Have never used there services that it was an error that it was purchased. Instead of them canceling the membership and refunding my credit card they are still charging my card and wont cancel it. Not how you do business and you have lost a potential future customer since this is how you do business. Update: So after leaving this review Jordan Hopkins calls me and now they have an email option to cancel member ship after I called and they told me the only option was to come in and cancel. She advised was a mistake at the front desk but she still refuse to credit my cc back for the misinformation on her employees fault. These people are just money hungry and don’t care how they get it. No longer a future customer. Beware of this company. After researching this company is considered a charity and they take membership fees as donations. They also are not partnered with the BBB so you are able to report their shady business practices.

Positive experience: Friendly staff, large cardio room with recently updated equipment, variuos group classes for every fitness level.

Negative experience: Nice place but I don't want to come to this place anymore. I thought some of the staffs are rude and unfriendly. In the summer camp, one guy(I don't know his name but he's the staff) so he brought up the topic about the singing group tlc and I said oooo I love this group and then out of nowhere... He gets mad and said toxic masculinity things to me like why can't I give their positive opinion about this group but yet you the one who brought it up in the first place. I'm not coming back to this place ever again and again, this place is amazing but the staff and their communication skills suck.

Negative experience: The manager was incredibly rude and accused of coming in and not paying. I ignored her rudity and I went to my class. I used the sauna after and there was a disoriented maintinece worker inside. I was appalled. I will not be back.

Negative experience: My son was terrorized every day he went to camp! Almost drowned by other children. No one that was supposed to be In charge seemed to know what was going on. It was practically impossible to get anyone to talk to you. Communication was horrible! I could go on, but bottom line is; If you value your child's safety and self esteem do not send them to camp at the Legacy YMCA

Positive experience: Nice people, but needs an update. Other YMCA in higher economical areas look a whole lot better but the employees and people are not as welcoming.

Positive experience: Lap swim twice a week. Today kids back and forth in the lap lane and hanging on lap divider. People staying in one place in the middle of lap lane. Having to go around both kids and people was annoying. Lifeguard just ignoring people in way.

Negative experience: This YMCA is in desperate need of an update. Compared to other YMCA in the area this lacks the upgraded amenities. Sherry Key's Zumba is the best class.

Positive experience: Been going here for more than a year now. This YMCA has all the facilities but compared to the one in Hoover this one definitely needs a lot of work to be done. I'm assuming that's because the one in Hoover was built more recently. Only YMCA around the area with a raquetball court which btw also needs some maintenance. Helpful staff. If asked to choose between the one in Hoover and Bessemer I would pick Hoover all day just because it's alot nicer.

Positive experience: I only use the pool and locker room here - both are clean and the staff is great! I give 4 stars because it could use to be updated.

Positive experience: Usually a clean, fun, family-oriented place to go. The summer time can be a little crowded, especially with the summer camp kids and if you want to swim in the outside pool I'd recommend going after the Summer-camp kids get out because there's just so many kids. The exercise equipment is pretty nice. The women's locker room and bathroom are always clean. The employees at the front desk are always friendly, especially the blonde girl I think her name is Kayla- is always super friendly.

Positive experience: My daughter is in summer camp here and loves it but it take them like 30 minutes to get her to you when it's time to pick up. Needs a little more organization.

Positive experience: Great service, atmosphere and excellent teachers. The lockers rooms could use some updating, paint is chipping, rust is present on certain places and there's a mildewed smell in the steam room.
