Fantastic experience: This place is amazing and friendly

Positive experience: I enjoy the multiple pools available. My daughter loves her swim class. We look forward to trying out the summer clubs they have to offer. Outside view is beautiful!

Negative experience: Looks like it was built in the 80s and forgot about . All of the equipment is antique , noisy and worn out . I’ve rarely seen things replaced with a new piece of equipment . The lighting is all this ultra fluorescent office type lighting . Really off putting . The paint is this odd flesh color in Most areas . For the price you pay 110 a month would think they would invest some of this money in updating which I’ve never seen done in 10 years . It’s all literally the same exact equipment in the same exact spots like 1970s models .

Positive experience: Overall, a nice club. However, maintenance is lacking, especially regarding the mold issue. I understand that in the pool area it is hard to maintain. In the hot tub, there is a glob of mold in the SE corner. The floors and shower area are also very moldy! Certainly once a week cleaning/treatment would take care of the issues. In the junior boy’s shower/changing room area, the ceiling is falling apart. There are many issues not mentioned. For the price they charge, they should hold themselves to a higher degree of excellence!

Negative experience: Don’t know what’s going on here besides lazy management, but the kiddie pool has been closed for over two weeks for no apparent reason, other than being filthy. Prior to that, it was not being cleaned often. There’s always trash, dirt and tons of leaves. Very disappointing for parents who want to take their young children in there. When you pay premium prices, you expect ALL amenities to be open and accessible.

Negative experience: Signed up the family for a full membership and was told it would be $112 per month. Fast forward 10 months, everything seemed good.....but then was told the $112 was just for me and to add the rest of the family would be another $98 per month. Looks like the sales person (who is no longer there) was fired for pushing this scam as I was told by another employee at Riverpoint.

Fantastic experience: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It’s way more than just a gym! It’s your all in one full body workout complex! They’ve got multiple weight rooms with both machines and free weights, treadmills and elliptical machines on two different levels, indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, dry sauna, 3 indoor racket ball courts, outdoor pickleball and so many tennis courts, spin room, yoga/pilates/dance style studio, an huge selection of personal trainers who specialize in many different types of workouts and regiments all are certified! The club provides you with complimentary towels, the showers have the most amazing water pressure great for your post workout to relieve tight muscles…the locker rooms are fully stocked with everything you could need after your shower (shampoos, conditioners, body wash, Q-tips, lotion, mouthwash, etc,). This really is THE BEST OF THE BEST when it comes to a place to work out not just your body but your mind and and your spirit! They welcome everyone and there is zero judgement. I have Ivan as my personal trainer and this guy knows his stuff and I love Nick’s yoga classes the best so far. He starts with a nice meditation, great music to go with his class that flows so nicely from pose to pose and ends with a nice meditation as well. I plan on taking full advantage of everything this club has to offer. Do yourself a favor and divorce your current gym and come be a part of the most amazing top notch facility/club/complex you’ll ever see! Your body, mind and soul with thank you!

Fantastic experience: Sports & Wellness is my gym home. I feel comfortable going there because it is always clean, the equipment is top notch (there is everything you would ever need), and the staff are friendly. Also there is an atomsphere of quiet respect for other people's privacy and gym time.

Fantastic experience: Highpoint has the best Personal Training culture! The support and encouragement is contagious from the trainers to their clients.

Negative experience: Sports and wellness makes it exceptionally easy to join, you don't even have to go into the office they will email you a membership agreement. However, it's much more difficult to cancel your membership. I called in to cancel and was told I had to physically go in to one of the locations to cancel in person as my signature is required. After driving to the nearest location, I provided my account number and they told me I would receive an email I would need to complete to cancel my membership. they made me drive in to tell me I would receive an email to cancel my membership. Shady way of doing business in my opinion

Fantastic experience: I recently joined this club and I was super impressed with Matt, who I spoke to in order to receive a tour and more information. He texted me as soon as the appointment time came, and met me at the desk. I sat down with him and he asked about what I wanted from the club, and gave me a really nice tour of the club. He even introduced me to the lead tennis professional. I didn’t feel pressured to join, even though I knew I would be joining before I arrived. He said I could enjoy the pool before deciding, but I signed up immediately. He even went over the app and showed me how to reserve courts and sign up for clinics. All of the young men working there are extremely polite and professional: ) Thank you Matt!

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym. Its has everything, its like your own home. Anything like a home. And its super comforting and not that many people. If i live in abq i would buy every membership or if im rich the gym. Come for a visit I promise you wont regret it

Negative experience: Services are good enough. The billing and accounting is a nightmare complete disregard for professional conduct and ordinary courtesy. I gave them 28 days notice to cancel membership and they refused saying they needed 30. The card company won't put a stop payment and now I'm disputing transactions. Miserable conduct

Negative experience: I never write reviews, but had a terrible experience at this gym this morning. I've been going here for a year and had an actual issue for the first time. The pool water was too hot to swim in. I was overheated in a few laps. I told the pair of people at the front desk and they had no idea how to interact with humans. I know you can't change the temp of a pool in 30 secs, but they didn't empathize. They didn't go through the motions of making a note that there may be an issue to look into. It was bizarre and frustrating--especially given the membership cost.

Negative experience: Old equipment, ridiculous price, customer service from management is awful unless you just want a towel. If you want an old school pool and tennis club, go for it, this is your place. If you need a gym, just go to Planet Fitness, it won't require the crazy cost and you'll have access to far better, newer, better maintained equipment. If you sign up, just know that if you ever want to leave, management will always be busy, away from the desk, won't return calls and you won't be allowed to leave. They make their revenue by dodging you.

Fantastic experience: Nice racquet courts, cozy ambiance, tennis courts are spectacular, outdoor pool has spectacular views of the mountains. Not just a "mill" like other clubs.

Fantastic experience: This has become my home gym, and I couldn’t be happier. The staff is always very welcoming and helpful. The community is great, I’ve made new friends, and gotten into the best shape of my life.

Negative experience: absolutely awful communication. i cancelled my membership 6 days after i got it and 2 months later they’re still billing me. i’ve spoken to 10+ people and no one can give me an answer on why i’m being billed. NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. this is ridiculous

Fantastic experience: Great members. It is really the members that mak e the gym. It is family oriented with career minded people.

Negative experience: My husband and I were talked into signing up for a 3 month membership but the salesman failed to inform us that we would have to pay for a months membership in advance. We were simply told that we can cancel at the end of our short contract but he neglected to inform us of the terms of cancelling and if we were informed up front, we would have never signed up. We feel as if the salesman was trying to say anything to get us to sign up and we we will not be back and encourage others to ask many questions before signing up!

Positive experience: It's a pretty nice gym and the outdoor pool is probably the best you're going to find in our area. If you're like me, here's what is going to bug you. There's maybe 3 treadmills that are fully functional. The women's locker room is a terrible design. The outdoor pool is great, but even the shallow end is pretty deep for kids. Also, during the hottest part of summer, the pool is reserved for the swim team or summer camp 5 hours per week day and mostly reserved another four hours per week in the evening. None of these things are deal breakers for me, but aggravating given the cost of membership.

Fantastic experience: A smaller club than some of the sister clubs, it has an upscale, yet neighborhood hang-out vibe. Great tennis and racquetball courts, and 2 pools.

Positive experience: Best Health club in Albuquerque perfectly located close to the mountains love the vibe here facilities are very clean and well kept if only it weren't so expensive

Negative experience: This is absolutely the worst gym you can ever experience. Extremely low quality equipment on top of all that not being nice The workers are extremely unorganized no one knows what they’re doing , no one knows how to run a gym there or speak professionally about any of the things there. they are so rude to the customers I’ve had multiple arguments with the employees and managers there Don’t listen to any of them if they try making you sign papers because you will be charged no matter what the circumstances are They never tell you it’s a contract and push you to sign papers and don’t clearly say what they are. I told them I am moving because my father died and they wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount every single month. Worst gym ever.

Negative experience: Facilities are nice but typical used car salesmanship, when you cancel your membership keep your paperwork they will blindly send you to collections without contacting you prior. There are better ways to run a business

Negative experience: So I am having a lot of competition for the 4 upright bikes this club has. I have a meniscus that’s a problem and I need the upright bike for my warm up. Daily. I’ve been arriving at 9 AM and Ken one of the trainers has his class of 5-6 on all the bikes when I need 1 for 10 min. I waited 25 min. When I finally got a bike I had 10 min. To workout. This has been going on for a year! Today and a few other members were also waiting. I’ve discussed this with Rich the manager .. no help, Jessica head trainer, I asked Ken for a few minutes to discuss this. He’s seen me everyday for the last week and 1/2. He hasn’t spoken to me at all! still no sharing. So I’m doing this, we will see if anyone cares! Used to be a great workout club.. not so much now. I asked for 1 more bike like a year ago! Aaag!

Fantastic experience: Love the personal training staff. They are professional and friendly. There is a trainer for whatever you are looking for. I workout with Garrett and Julian, but they are all good because Jessica, the personal training manager, is awesome and runs a great program.

Fantastic experience: Love the pool! Love it. So relaxing up by the foothills looking at the mountain. The staff at all of the Sports and Wellness clubs are generally nice but something about the Highpoint crew sets them apart from the rest. The workout area isn't huge but it suffices. All about the pool and tennis at Highpoint. Get in a workout and cool off by the pool - great way to spend morning or an afternoon. Enjoy!

Fantastic experience: The staff is amazing, the amenities are fantastic. I absolutely love Highpoint and it's the only place I go to workout as well as relax. I've made many friends here and enjoy seeing the customer service associates as soon as I walk in :)

Fantastic experience: We love all the sports and wellness locations but this one by far is our favorite. As gym memberships to, S&W is definety on the pricy end in Albuquerque, it's not enough to break the bank, but enough to motivate you to actually go to the gym and take advantage of the facilities. Our account manager Nolan is amazing and makes sure that anything we need is taken care of. We love having access to a variety of facilities like Raquetball, tennis, exercise classes, indoor and outdoor pools, all in one location. This is really the way to go if you're looking for a gym membership, if anything just for the sheer variety of activities you can do.

Fantastic experience: I initially began working out at this location because it is very close to my home. As i kept going, i realized i am going to stay because of the friendly faces both from the gym staff as well as the members. The child care is excellent, providing both childcare for while you're working out, and "the great escape." The great escape lets you pay for 2-4 hour increments of time (within regular childcare hours) that you can leave the premesis and do what you need to get done. Highpoint's childcare will ensure that your child is safe and happy while you run your errands. Most importantly, my two children love going to childcare. My seven year old asks me every day "Are we going to the gym? I want to see my friends!" (She is referring to both children who attend as well as the childcare staff) All of the managers are pleasant and kind, and most know you by name. It is nice to be greeted welcomingly every time you come to workout. This location also holds paint nights, for both adults and children. The childcare director is a wonderful artist and she guides you through every step of the process to creating a wonderful work of art for your home. There have been paint classes for just adults, just kids, and for the whole family. They are super fun. The workout environment is very nice as well. There are people of all skill levels on the gym floors and as a beginner, you don't get that "side eye" from the experts like you do at some other gyms in town. I cant speak to the tennis or racquetball programs because I don't know the first thing about either sport, but from what I've heard, they are excellent. :) Thank you Highpoint for being my home away from home and my gym family!!

Negative experience: It is hard to justify paying twice as much as defined fitness for similar facilities. Childcare also costs extra here unless you add the child as a member. The biggest frustration is communication and transparency. To get information on swimming lessons and cost of membership, you have to talk to a host of different staff that don’t respond consistently. To get information on the cost of membership, you have to talk to a specific salesman since they make a commission. The process is not beneficial to the customer and also seems to burn out the sales employees.

Positive experience: I loved this location for years they were family friendly but the people that come there can be cruel! I have been harrassed 3 times about my kids being there, now if my child was really unruly I'd understand but my kids listen better then adults do. Some old ppl really hate children period. Its only a matter of time before it gets physical.

Positive experience: Some of the people are great here...but overall it is a much older crowd and they have no steam room. There honestly is a " snooty" air at this location, but to each their own. I mostly choose to work out at the other locations, because of the diversity and acceptance I feel, but that is my perception. And it is validated through conversations I have had with other members. They have the best pools at this location and plenty of friendly people. I like how they host events and have plenty of free classes. I've been a member for 10 years! So bottom line- Sports & Wellness is the best that Albuquerque has to offer!

Fantastic experience: Ugh... I wanted to hate this place cuz it's so expensive but my whole family enjoys it here. Swimming is great, personal trainers (Kenny) are awesome, equipment is varied & well maintained and I've lost weight, feel stronger & love working out here. I go to Yoga at one of the other locations cuz it's closer to my kids' activities which is a nice perk.

Negative experience: Management is horrible. Assistant general manager Michele Lewis (photo below) called police on me for taking too long to shower, although maintenance employee gave me permission. I was an 18-year member with over 4,000 positive visits to the facility. The club is VERY expensive. Management does not control kids well. Dangerous for them there. Management does not fix broken items quickly. Doesn't seem management cares about members -- only their money!

Positive experience: This is a nice gym. Just wish there was a better selection of classes some days. I also wish the girls locker room was bigger.

Negative experience: Gym is very small, classes are good but crowded. The outdoor pool is nice, and the staff is friendly and apologetic when someone steals something from you in the locker rooms
