Juniper Swim & Fitness Center: Opinions

4.9/5 (53 Opinions)
Top Rated Gym

Fantastic experience: Rude staff? I struggle to believe that. Every experience my family has ever had here has been a good one. Expensive? Come on, seriously. Too many keyboard warriors with grudges here. Juniper is a fantastic place, the facilities are excellent and the staff always helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Good value, and for my first membership at a swim center, I'm pleased. I've swam my whole life, but do not have good technique. I appreciate the lanes for those of us who are 'slow', or are just getting better with our endurance. There are plenty of lockers and the pools are lovely. I think the prices are very good, especially if swimming is your focus. The only down side for me was walking into the building the first time. I was very intimidated by all the experienced swimmers, but I soon realized no one cared how good or bad I was, and I did my own thing.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Juniper on and off for a large part of my life and have never had a bad experience. They have three swimming pools - an indoor children's pool, a normal indoor pool, and an outdoor pool. The outdoor one is covered in the winter and open in the summer, so it's usable all year round. I use the weight room quite often. There are plenty of machines for working various parts of the body, as well as a healthy amount of free weights. They have plenty of cardio machines and I've only ever had to wait for one at peak hours (and then the wait was only a few minutes). My only real complaints are the low number of barbell stations (only one traditional station and a smith machine) and that they don't have the specially shaped weights for dead lifts and power cleans. However, they do have a rack of smaller fixed-weight barbells, so it isn't too much of an issue. While they don't have the number or variety of weight machines as somewhere like Gold's Gym, I've never felt like I couldn't work a muscle group because they didn't have what I needed. They have a large variety of exercise classes as well, but I can't comment on them because I haven't used them. The pools, steam room, and sauna are also a big plus.

Fantastic experience: Expensive? Rude staff? Too many children in the weight room? Not at all in my experience, I am a senior and it runs me about $1/day, everyone is friendly (might say something about the reviewer), I have no issues with access to weights, etc, but I go in about 7:45AM. A well run, clean, and affordable facility.

Fantastic experience: I used to be a member at the Athletic Club of Bend, but when I starting spending Winters in CA I switched because the Athletic Club was charging me partial dues(1/2) for the months I was in CA. I have no regrets about the move. Yes, it is further from where I live (Westside) in Bend...but otherwise the facility is comparable to me. I love it! When I am in Bend, I go 3 to 4 times a week. Love the diversity of classes and find the instructors, staff and members very nice and friendly. I consider the facility a great asset to Bend. Marilyn McIver

Positive experience: The reason I have indicated a 4 is that the good water instructors are “watered” down so no routine can be established for the participants. Everyone must adapt to new instructors every day and every week—no continuity—— your best instructors only teach one day a week at the same time. I don’t know if there is some bureaucratic rule but it is not a quality method

Fantastic experience: Best public fitness facility

Fantastic experience: Great place. However, the workout room and the studio rooms need disinfectant spray with rags to wipe off equipment. The disposable wipes aren’t cutting it. And could the boomers please keep their boomer conversations out of the sauna room. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My daughter absolutely loves this pool it is her favorite! In fact we drive all the way from Prineville once a week to go swim here. The splash pad/pool for kids is amazing, so many activities! They even have a small slide for toddlers since they can't go up the big one yet. They can go down the big slide with an adult though! I'm throughly impressed! The price is very accommodating too! The ladies at the front could be a little nicer at times, but all around so much fun!

Fantastic experience: You can get a hot shower for only $8. Most of them are public, but there is one private "family shower" available. I suggest going when it's not crowded; you can use Google to find out how busy they usually are.

Sasha Villarreal 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We had a great time here. Unfortunately, there were three teenage girls who were bullying, swearing, and being rude to everyone. I spoke up when they started picking on a boy, but then they started to harass me and my family. I reported it to the staff and they immediately took action. They have a zero tolerance policy for bullying, so the girls were given a stern warning and asked to leave for the day. It was difficult to enjoy ourselves while they were there, but it was much better when they were gone. The environment was perfect for children. I want to thank the tall woman with the long, beautiful hair for taking the situation seriously.

Fantastic experience: Clean and welcoming atmosphere at a reasonable rate for someone who needs to take a shower.

Fantastic experience: This complex is great! I have only used the outdoor swimming pool, but there is a lot more to do for a reasonable cost. The pool has plenty of room for lap swimming and the lanes are separated by swimmer speed (although some people may not be accurate in their assessment of their speed). The locker rooms are tidy and there are plenty of lockers, but you need to bring your own lock. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a way to get some exercise.

Fantastic experience: We love this aquatic center!! Its great for everyone! I love to bring my 2 year old because it has a splash pad and 2 pools just for her! Theres little slides and tons of life vests and floaties available free of charge! The lifegaurds are so good about making sure that the indoor pool for little ones stays that way by keeping bigger kids out.. Its great because she swims free and its very cheap for me so we can go all the time without breaking the bank! They also offer 2 or 3 bigger pools, diving boards, hot tub, sauna, water slides, lessons, locker room, food and beverages sold... And more! I definitely recommend checking it out!

I lost 20 pounds in a month. I swam 4 hours and did yoga. At 69.I felt amazing. Thanks to them,my body feels rejuvenated. Love this place. Wish I lived in the Bend area

Fantastic experience: Incredible facility and friendly staff. Bend parks and rec does a great job — and I can’t recall seeing a public swim facility anywhere in the country that comes close to this one. Great separate swim and play area for the kiddos too. Only improvement that I can think of would be more shaded spots and coverings for those that want to be careful about their sun exposure.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I spent the month of September 2018 in Bend. As a regular at my YMCA in Tennessee, I needed a place to work out during the month. I particularly enjoy fitness classes, and the variety at Juniper is phenomenal. The facilities, equipment, and group exercise instructors are all excellent.

Fantastic experience: I just joined the club a week ago and I love it. It's an excellent value. I think that the ski team reviewer who was so horrified at having to look at old people needs to know that if he is lucky, he too will become an old person whether he likes it or not. Bravo for the ladies in the pool.

Fantastic experience: Good low key gym. Everyone is usually really friendly. Not too packed so there's no waiting for equipment. The pools and saunas are clean and well maintained.
