O'Fallon Illinois YMCA

Fantastic experience: 5 stars to Laurie who assisted me in my complaint regarding a young counselor yelling at my 12 year old and another counselor trying to escalate the situation after it had already de-escalated by invading my personal space to get me to step backwards, stop talking and leave. I honestly didn’t even know how to describe the second counselors behavior when I spoke to Laurie. The second counselor was very intimidating though and treated me like I did something wrong after catching the first counselor screaming at my son for asking to play Poker and telling her they let him the day before. She demanded to know who let him play and became irate when he didn’t know her name. I was very upset and disappointed with the actions of these counselors when I spoke with Laurie and she assured me she would speak to them and additional training was in the works. I’d say my current rating for the camp is a 2 but Laurie’s professionalism led me to rank YMCA as a whole a 5 and I am hopeful the camp will become a 5 too with her in charge. Thank you Laurie for taking my concern seriously. I also hope that her conversation with these young ladies went well and they are able to learn from this to provide better care for the children they are left in charge with.

Positive experience: This location should really get gymnastic classes for kids of all ages. It’s a little far to be driving all the way to Edwardsville YMCA. Other than that the place is clean and nice size pool.

Fantastic experience: We have been YMCA members for 27 years, initially at the Park & now at the Seven Hills Road location. YMCA is the major reason we live in this community. Today I mentioned massive pre & after spraying on the machine at the front desk. The young lady not only disagreed but defended the practice of spraying even though I mentioned the aerosolized chemicals frequently get in the airways of the person next to the machine. I suggested that Y put a sign so that members spray the paper towel in their cupped hands and use it on the machine rather than directly on the machine. As a medical professional, I know the Respiratory toxicity of such chemicals not to speak of COPD & Asthma.

Fantastic experience: The facility is very nice and there are a variety of classes to choose from. It's definitely one of the nicer YMCAs that I have been to.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful Gym and swimming pool.

Positive experience: We have only used this location for swim lessons. Through our multiple sessions, we were happy with the progress of our children. Most of the instructors were successful with improving of swim skills. The facility was always clean. When you have young children and you overlap with other classes, the family changing area gets packed and it is limited for space. You have the option to use the M & W dressing rooms as well.

Negative experience: Requiring people to be there in person to cancel your membership is extremely slimey and predatory. I was in a motorcycle accident and can’t walk or drive, was told I would have to come in to cancel my membership. Sad.

Negative experience: I had a bad customer service experience with this YMCA on more than one occasion.

Fantastic experience: My YMCA home gym. Everyone is friendly and supportive. So many options for classes too!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym, been coming since 2012!

Negative experience: Predatory cancellation policies. Can sign up line but can't cancel online. Can sign up by phone but can't cancel by phone. Got a long story about a special paper form that can only be filled out in person.

Fantastic experience: Child Watch is located on the first floor, on the entrance to the right. Extraordinary nursery room! Plenty of natural light and huge compared to other YMCA's Child Watch rooms. My only observation to the staff is, and I know dealing with kids is not easy, is not to yell to the kids. It looks like some of the staff also have their own kids there, and the way they were talking to them was kinda rough and they also used the same tone with the other kids. I stayed 2 full hours on the tables next to the Child Watch room and I could clearly hear everything that was going on. I will still bring my kid to this place, but not as on a regular basis.

Fantastic experience: Just excellent. I used to frequent the Belleville location and it's nice but has a much smaller parking lot. The people here are all friendly and facilities are very clean. I often joke with my wife that the restrooms and equipment has that hospital clean feel about it. Can't recommend it enough

Fantastic experience: I like this Y location because there seems to be less unsupervised children in cardio and weight areas than other Y locations in the area. The equipment is nice, and there’s a variety of cardio machines. The only drawback is there isn’t a lot of space to do floor exercises—Belleville is a better location for that.

Fantastic experience: My kids attended summer camp at this location. The counselors and facility were fabulous. Camp definitely helped my pre teen focus on something else besides a tablet and her brother was usually so exhausted that he was falling asleep by 7 and excited to go back to camp the next day. I highly recommend this camp. Register early!!

Fantastic experience: Incredibly clean and accommodating. Shout out to Stephanie who works the front desk. What a lovely host. Her pride in the facility made me feel like a good friend that she invited into her home.

Fantastic experience: Class was amazing this evening. They have childcare and a huge child facility with 5 childcare providers in the care room - plenty of room to play tag hide and seek and art projects! Pool is nice with a sauna great after lifting. Locker rooms are all under renovations but almost complete within the next 2 weeks. Nice flooring and swimsuit dryer in the locker room. Basketball court is a full court and volleyball court for pre-k - adult leagues. Staff is plentiful & very warm. Guests were friendly. Like the cardio overlooks the sunset plenty of space cardio, track and weight room, yoga studio - upper class rooms with free weights and cardio rooms. Well organized facility.

Fantastic experience: I have fallen in love with Zumba thanks to Benita’s 4:15 class! I’ve been going regularly for over a year now. There is such an amazing energy with a great group of people, the music is on point, and it’s so much fun! She always says there are no wrong moves, just have fun. I try to get to her class as much as I can. It makes working out so much more enjoyable. Keep up the outstanding work Benita!!!

Fantastic experience: I love the community atmosphere here. After working out, it's common for members to hang out around the tables, drink coffee, and socialize with each other and the staff. The cardio equipment were replaced and updated in 2014 and has been kept up nicely. The staff are extremely friendly. The child care available is actually structured a little. Big kids separate from little ones and there is consistency with staff members so they learn the kids names and temperaments. The only negative I can think of is I wish there was more floor space for equipment free workouts. It's difficult to find a space to do push-ups, work abs, or stretch out without being in the way for someone.

Fantastic experience: Basically my second home haha, free weights are awesome. Gets a little crowded around 5 but that’s normal almost everywhere. Staff are awesome, equipment is in good condition and is of good quality. Definitely would recommend!

Negative experience: Seems a great facility though the men's locker room/shower reeks of mold and mildew. You can smell it and see it at the bottom of the shower walls. It's black and orange and really nasty. There is no way this can be healthy. Needs to me remediated immediately.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. I have family in Mascoutah and it's my go-to place. They have weights, machines, and lots of other things. When I move to Mascoutah permanently, I'll definitely get a membership.

Negative experience: They use your money to order hundreds of dollars worth of catering orders then use it as a tax write off.dont tip the driver not one cent.but try to say they use the income from memberships to update facilities there. shamefulness on their part! And management thinks it's ok to stuff their faces with your money but not tip someone that drives to restaurant waits for order and drives it to them.using their gas. miles on their car.with no compensation!

Fantastic experience: I love the ymca in O’Fallon. They always greet me and ask how my day is and always wish me a good workout. They are super helpful there and kind!

The facility is well kept and maintained. I have never had to alter my workout due to workout equipment being broken, unserviced, or unavailable and I appreciate the approachable and friendly staff. Happy the mask mandate has been lifted so smiles can shine bright. Update: the new renovations to the women's and family locker rooms are very nice. Lends more space to each area.

Positive experience: Clean, very friendly staff and great coaches! I gave a four because sometimes the front desk workers can be a bit rude when it comes to check in.

Fantastic experience: I like this YMCA, and I’ve been pretty much going to this YMCA my entire life. I’ve never had trouble getting a swimming lane, and the workout area is always super clean. I remember a time when I myself as a young child, playing in the YMCA daycare area, and now, over 15 years later, I’m still using this gym. It feels like family, something that has always been a part of my life. I enjoy working out here and the staff is always so kind and helpful. What I feel like the YMCA has that no other gym has, is that it centers around family. It really is a family gym. Im excited to continue working on my health journey here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the YMCA.

Fantastic experience: A great YMCA. Two courts, pool cardio rooms and classes

Positive experience: Great place, but quite disappointed to see that someone recently changed the channels such that Fox News is now the only available news channel on the 5 TV screens in the gym.

Negative experience: Parents and staff allow children to play on gym equipment while people are waiting to actually use the equipment. Much of the time these kids are utilizing the equipment inappropriately and when the parents refuse to monitor their children, the staff doesn't circulate to oversee and correct the misuse. It's not safe and distracting. I have 2 children and they are monitored and kept occupied in the Child Watch facility or I don't bring them.

Negative experience: Not accommodating to all.

Fantastic experience: The O'Fallon, IL YMCA is amazing! The kids love going to the kid area. The equipment and rooms are always clean. The pool is a huge plus! The people are always so nice. Plus since I'm newer at this whole working out thing, there is no judgement! My daughter is now able to do some cardio with me too. I also highly suggest their swim classes for the littles!

Fantastic experience: The Y staff is very friendly and approachable. The morning staff greats you soon as you walk in. I just started back working out and I love the motivational Monday bowl with the quotes. Seeing friendly people makes working out enjoyable!

Fantastic experience: I am not one that really likes going to the gym, but to help with weight loss and start working on strength training. I looked at several gyms trying to make the best decision. I chose O'Fallon YMCA - Illinois and it has been the best decision. I loved working with Ryan. He provided many great workout options for my level of strength training. Thank you YMCA for providing a great place to get a wonderful workout and the staff couldn't be anymore helpful and pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Love this Y. Great child care, we took our son for beginner swim lessons - loved it. Spin class with Mary is great, spacious locker rooms, friendly desk and child care team, machines are all clean and in good condition, love the upstairs track. We love it all around.

Fantastic experience: Our family loves the YMCA. My husband and I use it as our gym and the kids have attended summer camp/kid care as well as swimming lessons here. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and I feel like it's a good value for the price.

Fantastic experience: Great experience every time I take my family to the OFallon, IL YMCA. From swimming lessons to personal training they offer so much for really great prices, and it has been worth every penny to me and my family.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, often greeted upon checking in. Schedules for classes are up to date. Child watch is the best feature for parents wanting a moment to themselves. They take pride in keeping our kids happy and safe and learning. Cardio room and weight room can get busy but the track is a good back up to walk until the crowds move out a bit. The pool and sauna are both well maintained.

Fantastic experience: We love the Y. We use them for the gym, swim lessons, gymnastics, tae Kwon do, and basketball. Great staff, very friendly. Also like the child watch area.

Fantastic experience: My family includes 4 children ages 4-10 years old, and mid 30's parents.The front staff at the front desk, child watch, and swimming department are GREAT!! I could walk to the East Belleville location without breaking a sweat, but I still choose to drive the 13 minutes to the O'Fallon YMCA. Every question I have they are able to answer or at least get me to the best person to answer it. The swimming instructors are thorough in both general lessons and semi-private. All four kids and one parent are on their 3rd session of swim lessons; and we will continue to take lessons at O'Fallon. The locker rooms are always clean, as well as the child watch area. Added bonus for my family is running into the kids Great-Grandma as she is also an O'Fallon YMCA Member :)

Although Dawn T isn't at one particular YMCA she's by far the best workout instructor I've ever had. She has a spirit of excellence that make you follow her to 3 different YMCA's!!!

Fantastic experience: This location has very friendly staff and some excellent programs. Julie Murphy, the Youth and Family Program Director, does an excellent job working with both parents, coaches, and kids from the community. I'd highly recommend this facility and the YMCA in general.

Fantastic experience: This is a great modern and clean facility with all the normal equipment and some extras. The classes are very good especially the yoga and new movement classes taught by Colleen. Also great classes for kids from tumbling to swimming.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this Y, the staff is so friendly. My son is in the soccer program there and he is always so excited to go to practice and play games. I also love the facility, it has many different classes that I love to try. My favorite is Zumba.

Fantastic experience: I am at the Y pretty much every day. The staff is super friendly and most know my family and I by name. My kiddos have taken swim lessons and one session of soccer. The member rates for kids activities is fair and worth it. I do wish I qualified for a corporate discount but my current employer does not have a contract with the Y. (Hopefully they will eventually).

Fantastic experience: I was running on the upstairs track. I felt like I was done, and decided to give up and start walking. Some random person saw me stop running and yelled, “c’mon, don’t stop now”. I mustered up the will to keep going for a few more laps. I don’t know if he works there, but it inspired me to keep coming back and working on my goals.

Fantastic experience: My family and I are very thankful for the O'Fallon YMCA! The employees (always wonderful), the classes (always great), the facility (always clean), Kids Zone (my kids love it!) but I have to say that we are most thankful for the amazing swimming program. Our children becoming strong swimmers is very important to my husband and I. We are so impressed with how the program is run. Sometimes with group lessons the kids don't really learn much. The YMCA program was revamped and it was done well! We're so impressed with the program, the class sizes, the instructors patience and hard work with the kids. I cannot believe how well my kids are doing with their swimming. My oldest who was once very nervous about the water is now a strong swimmer...entering Level 5! My son (7) who wasn't a huge fan loves the water now and is making great progress and my youngest (4) is just doing so well! They have reached this point with the amazing instructors that they've had...Brett and Nicole have been absolutely amazing with my kids. They are wonderful instructors and should be very proud of their accomplishments. My family and I thank you! Keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience: I love the O'fallon YMCA. We take our to classes here and my husband and take the Move Together and Yoga classes with Colleen on Tuesday nights. We love both. We get a great workout and enjoy the friendly people in the class and the instructor is great. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: This Y has become an extended family. This family has celebrated the good things and the bad with me. When I retired the classes gave some schedule to my week and got me out with people and the exercise got me healthier.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member for years and attended many of the classes. With four kids, Taekwondo, swim lessons, and gymnastics have provided affordable activities that they all enjoy. The staff are all friendly and welcome everyone through the doors. My family couldn't ask for a better place to go!

Fantastic experience: The Ofallon Y is a great gym! It is my home away from home. The childcare is great. My kids went to summer camp there this last summer, and had a great time. We also do swim lessons, gymnastics, personal training, and some of the sports programs. The Barre and Piyo classes are my favorite.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy the variety of workout classes offered. The child watch center takes amazing care of my son while I work out. I feel very comfortable with him in their care while I take some time to work on myself. The facilities are clean and the equipment is well taken care of. All the members of the YMCA are friendly and it's a nice environment. It doesn't feel like a "gym" but a family and friends. The swimming lessons provided for children is great and we have done several sessions with our son. I am very happy with our choice to use the YMCA for our family and highly recommend it to others!

Positive experience: This place has amazing programs for kids and the child watch is too notch. However, the weight room upstairs is a mess. And the setup of free weights completely separate from machines downstairs makes it difficult to accomplish certain workout styles.
