Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for a little over 6 months and have waited to write this review. PROS: large variety of equipment (including barbells), friendly staff, clean facilities, not crowded (no waiting for equipment), hours that fit my schedule. CONS: It’s in a remodel which isn’t ideal but that won’t last forever. Doesn’t affect use of gym, just aesthetics. Also, a tad pricier than a “big box” gym but you get what you pay for, I don’t regret the investment. Ultimately I’ve been a member of a dozen gyms over 16 years and this is my favorite one so far. Everything I need, not crowded, like a home away from home.

Negative experience: THIEVES!!!!! When i tried to join this gym, the owner kept talking about how there's no hidden fee in this gym. I tried their gym literally twice n i DID NOT like it. No staff and no customer service in this gym. Very old interior. I tried to cancel my membership and the girl by the door said you have to do it on your own and i am not helping you! Not only they charged me for another month, but they charged me $50 more for a maintenance fee!

Fantastic experience: I unfortunately had to cancel due to a relocation, but this is by far the best gym in Houston for the value. I tried 24hr, Gold's, even Equinox but this one stuck out as the most consistent/enjoyable. The combination of ample equipment and low foot traffic makes this gym an anomaly in Houston, and of all the things in Houston I'll miss, this gym is on the top of the list. You can tell the owner puts his heart and soul into it, and the community reflects that. I highly recommend this gym.

Negative experience: Attempted to check the gym out but was told I would have to set up a tour instead of checking it out. I was offered the opportunity to “pay” to tour the facility by paying for a drop-in pass. Truly a baffling way to get customers. No info on the gym since I didn’t pay to tour.

Fantastic experience: This is my new gym because it has a vibe closer to Fit Athletics that just closed in Montrose and it's located near my place. A real gym with real people working out. The crowd is light. There are trainers on site training folks but they are super nice and definitely not aggressive with equipment like trainers in other gyms. Short version: you aren't less just because you are training on your own. Everyone is courteous. There's plenty of workout space, plenty of equipment and variety of equipment. The building is organized into two floors and about 3-4 main training areas. The squat / deadlift room is a class act and these days an essential to have. The spaces are well lit, clean and organized. Members could rerack weights but this is a problem in all gyms right now. There's plenty of parking available. The building is well maintained. The changing rooms, showers are all clean and well maintained. There's no sauna, there is no steam room, there is no pool of any kind and good riddance -- those always bring the worst of the gym goers. There's no daycare, no children's area. Leave your children at home. Now there is a spa side, that's where steam and sauna might be. I don't know. That part is extra on top of the membership. You just have to decide if you need those services. I don't. The price point is higher than other gyms, and yes you get what you pay for. It is however the same pricing as Fit athletics that closed. If you ask what could be improved: The gym could use about 10-20 additional 45lb plates to be distributed in the training rooms they have as there aren't 45lb plates to go around in general. Just for clarification. I train heavy. Perhaps most other people did not notice this. The hours are a little conservative especially on Fridays and weekends. It's a family owned gym, you deal with real people, no corporate, it's mellow and friendly. Free of texting teenagers, children, socialites, fitness influencers, tripods and recording and other Houston annoyances, this gym is a breath of fresh air. It's for courteous, grown up, serious exercise enthusiast.

Fantastic experience: A great gym and my personal favorite. This is a trainers gym and is newly designed for optimum performance. My trainer Brandon Cole is top notch and really gets results. He is also a stretch specialist and makes sure you don't hurt yourself while working out! The gym is great and the newly renovated building is very nice with all new equipment.

Fantastic experience: After some months of going to The Core Health & Fitness i can say it's one of the better gyms i've been to. It's a very clean space with staff, Personal trainers and even members being friendly. The gym is very clean and has a plethora of machines to workout any specific muscle. I can without a doubt say that i definetly loved my time there. Although i am no longer a member I would most definetly recommend this space to any one looking to join a gym where there is some privacy.

Fantastic experience: The Core is a premier gym that is specialized to meet it’s customer needs with its vast amount equipment, personal training and health and wellness professionals on site. I am an artist and the owner, Lee, currently has my art pieces displayed. Since doing so, I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and sold some of the pieces! Lee has gone over and beyond with featuring my work. I am honored that he chose my art to have on display. He really goes out of his way for others and it’s clear when you see all that is offered for the members of the gym and how professional and service-oriented he and the rest of the staff are!

As women we are accustomed to carry our own feminine products but The Core goes out the way to keep the supply STOCKED everyday! Most commercial gyms still have the 25cent machines that are broken, outdated and empty. This act would be expected every in 2022 but here it is a Gold standard.It’s the little things! Lee and his staff keep the standard of ensuring why The Core is better! Clean, friendly & accessible!

Fantastic experience: I love The Core! Almost 1 year ago, my client told me about this amazing place. I called, spoke with the owner and scheduled a tour to see the facility. ALL The staff were extremely professional & friendly and I immediately felt that this establishment could provide EVERYTHING I was looking for. The Core is a 5 star facility & also is home to around 30 individual office suites available to lease for small business owners. I began leasing a space at The Core for my business in March 2021 and it has radically changed both my business and fitness life. My clients love the central location & abundance of parking. Every person is the front desk reception team is friendly & helpful. The space is always super clean and sanitized. The variety of gym equipment and size of the facility provide everything that I need for my personal fitness. (Love the private yoga/dance room) Anyways, I could go on and on about all the reasons why I love this place so much. And Please don’t think my review is biased since I am a tenant of The Core. I’m there on almost a daily basis and it really is Houston’s Best “hidden” Gym!

Fantastic experience: The gym looks smaller than it actually is from the outside but is two stories and has plenty of equipment (I use to use 24 Hour Fitness was happy with that in the past but this place is a major upgrade. The gym has been smart and you can be germ free before you work out and has plenty of wipes for machines/equipment. Also you don't have to worry about the gym being too crowded (even after work) and during the weekends it is free play in terms of what you can use. I like the variety of the gym and the facilities and it really is an amazing gym! The only downside is with road construction you have to take back roads to get to it but construction should be completed by September/later this year which will fix that issue.

Negative experience: This place has terrible customer service. I cancelled my membership because I had a personal trainer become visibly and verbally aggressive with me. Then, when I say down with the owner to discuss the issue, the owner dismissed the complaint as if I was a boy on a schoolyard complaining to a teacher. In the meeting he proceeded to ask me what I did for a living. What significance does my employment have? Was he judging me by what his perception of my employment was? I guess if you're a doctor paying for hundreds of dollars worth of personal training every month then you've got nothing to worry about. The cameras all over the place and warning signs about parking and valuables wasn't all that encouraging anyways. To the people that have read this far, find a gym where they treat everyone with equal respect.

Negative experience: Looks like a nice place to go the the gym however I used my friends phone to call and ask if you guys are hiring and few days later my buddy gets a callback and hangs up which is expected if you don’t recognize a number however when I find out all I know is he gets a immature response for hanging up guess that’s a little foolish and immature

Positive experience: The gym has plenty of equipment that looks in tip top shape. You won't have trouble finding parking. Environment and workers are friendly. The only downside is the lack of organization. Equipment is spread through several different rooms, including an upstairs room which will may lead to more steps than you expected.
