Welcome to CHRISTUS HWC, a vibrant health and wellness center located in Beaumont, Texas. Our facility offers a variety of amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools, fitness classes, and extensive gym equipment to cater to all your fitness needs.
Many of our members appreciate the cleanliness and friendly atmosphere that we strive to maintain. Visitors often express satisfaction with our helpful staff, who are dedicated to providing excellent service. The gym is equipped with a wide range of modern equipment, making it a great place for both beginners and seasoned fitness enthusiasts.
While we take pride in our offerings, we acknowledge that some users have encountered challenges. Scheduling swim lessons can be inconvenient, and the recent policy changes regarding lane reservations have generated feedback from our community. Negative experience: I did not have a good experience. I wanted to get my granddaughter some private swim lessons. I was assigned a young swim instructor by the name of Malika. First of all I did not understand why we had to schedule week to week. Why was there not a set schedule from week to week? You never knew what days to count on. It made it very inconvenient. The instructor did not appear interested in teaching. She appeared bothered to even be there. She rescheduled several times after setting appointments.. Just this week she scheduled two days then immediately canceled and said she would not be back for two weeks. My granddaughter is very disappointed.

Negative experience: First and foremost I live an hour away and I've been trying to find a family friendly pool to take my autistic son swimming on the weekends because it's literally all he wants for Christmas. With that being said I called ahead and asked about membership during the week and the call went fairly well and was very informative. I come on the weekend and apparently the weekend staff is not trained on how to start a membership and knew absolutely nothing about services provided at the facility. I asked if we could just try the pool out because we drove a long way and thankfully they agreed. I now see that lane reservations are a thing but didn't know at the time because staff was not trained to tell me their rules and policies when I arrived. I'm glad I didn't set up a membership now because I won't be returning. When my son and I got out of the pool and tried to rinse off there was a Karen there stalking us and not allowing my six year old son to stay with me so we could shower in the locker room. She kept on insisting that I'll get in trouble for supervising my son and kept on trying to push us into a "family room" with no showers. So I wound up sending him into the male locker room and praying he was safe and was a nervous wreck the entire time while this woman was harassing me. The lifeguard had to stop me because I was about to leave our things because this power hungry Karen made me so uncomfortable. NEVER AGAIN.
Dear Erica, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at HWC. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you and your son encountered during your visit. As a father with younger children myself, and as an uncle to a nephew with non-verbal cerebral palsy I understand and empathize how important it is to feel supported in caring for a child, especially one with additional needs. You are correct that we currently do not have shower facilities available for families inside our indoor pool area or in our locker room areas for family changing rooms, women, men, boys, or girls locker rooms. This is an obvious shortcoming that does not meet the needs of all our members and guests. We also failed to properly inform you of our membership and guest policies up front. Ensuring all feel welcome at HWC, regardless of ability, is critically important to us. I have taken note of your feedback and we will be reviewing our facility and staff training to determine how we can better accommodate families in the future, such as considering installation of a shower / rinse station near the indoor pool. Please accept my sincere regret for the stressful experience you and your son endured. While I cannot change the past, I hope we can work to regain your trust. Negative experience: Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here. They insisted I do my fitness evaluation before receiving all membership benefits even though I asked to wait since I was pregnant. Then while I was on maternity leave, they cleared my locker and threw everything away even though they could have contacted me since my card in the locker had my name on it. They had told me my items would be secure despite the staff not putting my name on the locker. The locker was included in the level membership I had. I emailed back and forth with an employee to resolve it, and she stopped replying after saying she would investigate options for resolving the mistake.
First and foremost, I want to sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience you've experienced. It's clear that we fell short of providing the level of service you deserve, and for that, I am truly sorry. I'm having a difficult time finding a Shannon Oglesby in our member database. Regarding the fitness evaluation, our policy is designed to ensure that all members receive personalized guidance for a safe and effective workout / wellness initiatives. However, it's evident that we should have been more flexible considering your pregnancy, and I apologize for any discomfort or pressure you felt as a result. We also clearly made a mistake in disposing of the contents of your locker without proper notification while you were on leave. Members should feel their belongings are secure in our lockers. The employee who was handling your inquiry should have followed through. Poor communication is unacceptable. Please accept our sincere apologies. We want to make this right. Fantastic experience: Very clean and friendly staff, lots of amenities. Located in a well lit and fenced area, with indoor and outdoor running tracks (12 laps/mile indoor, 2 outdoor). Tons of equipment, indoor and outdoor pool with lifeguards present, every weight lifting device imaginable. There is even a tennis court. The locker rooms have self locking lockers, showers, steam room and a whirlpool. I strongly recommend the boot camp class, if you're an early riser.
Yes, yes, yes to all of that - thanks Jim! Way to get in those early workouts and get your day started out with incredible momentum in the boot camp classes - and then to finish off with a steam and the whirlpool. Hard to beat, and very grateful you're with us!
Negative experience: I had to eat 4 months of a 6 month paid membership when the covid lock down took place. When things went back to normal, they were uninterested in making things right. Never going back.
Fantastic experience: Still good and fun. I have decided to actually shower not just shower off after my swim. That is working great. Rowing machines are good but I've actually rowed. Not enough pull but still good First day for me to swim laps. Perfect Nice shows and hot tub. I will use pool consistently and maybe rowing machine. Very clean and organized. I getting my money's worth. No entry fee in June and they pRO rated my June fee. I am glad I signed up. HWC is amazing and all I want is swim laps but rowing machine is beckoning me and I here it's call

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym
Negative experience: POORLY MANAGED AND THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. Pre COVID this gym did not require you to reserve a swimming lane in the pool. They also provided their customers with towels to take a shower or dry off from the pool and smaller towels to wipe your sweat off with. Post COVID it is nearly impossible to reserve a swimming lane in the pool. You have to use their app on your phone that doesn't work more often than not and you can only reserve a lane three days out. Trying to reserve a lane 2.5 days out and all the reservations are nearly booked. Yet if you show up at the pool almost all of the lanes are empty. This issue has been brought up to workers multiple times yet the management doesn't care. Now they started offering a "towel service" like they did before but now it cost extra money if you want to use their towels where as the service was free before. If you are the management and you are reading this get rid of having to reserve a lane and go back to first come first serve. Many customers book lanes and do not show up or use a lane. Many of your customers will appreciate this.

My son was not comfortable at all in the water when he first started but Miss Megan and Miss Emory helped him gain that confidence. My daughter has progressed so much in Miss Malaika’s class and has really enjoyed it. Thank you HWC swim teachers!
Negative experience: If I could give them 0 I would.. If you want your kids to learn Detect meat and safety of swimming this is not the place to go. They take four groups and divide into each corner of the pool to teach swimming lessons. When they should be using the entirety of the pool per class. This is just a money gimmick your kids will not learn how to swim they may play in the pool and have fun with peers because this is always about. I complain and Denice haven’t return return my call yet and my kids been attending since June 6,2022 1st session. I asked for my money back they refuse to give it back. But that was OK I learned a valuable lesson if you want your kids to really learn the safety about swimming and to actually learn how to swim take them to a professional place. My kids are now in BISD Aquatics and are doing fantastic. Hope it helps someone’s.

Fantastic experience: Best place to go for those who love fitness and whole body health. It is by far one of my favorite places to go between a busy school and work schedule, this place allows me to slow down and take care of myself in between. The early hour classes allow for a before school hour yoga session which is honestly perfect for all the information I’m having to indulge in. Thank you to facility employees for keeping it clean and welcoming!

Fantastic experience: So happy I joined the Wellness Center. They have every piece of equipment I could possibly want to use and the indoor and outdoor pools are a huge plus. There are also a variety of class options and I really enjoyed the instructor. Everyone is always so friendly and I feel like they really work hard to keep everything clean and give members the best experience possible. I appreciate how they've spread everything out to provide social distance. I feel like I can workout in a clean, safe environment there.

Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend the Christus Wellness Center. The aquatics aerobics class is an excellent workout with low impact. Zumba is lots of fun with a great calorie burn.

Positive experience: They go above and beyond everyone on there protection for the covid virus. I only go there to play racquetball and they closed all the courts but one to put exercise equipment spread out. They have spread the exercise equipment throughout in the cafe area also. They only got three stars because they closed all the racquetball courts and that's the only reason I go. Otherwise they would have got five stars. New update....2-22-2022 three racquetball courts are now open. Staying at 3 stars because they charge more per month than they used to and charge extra for towels and they were included with membership before. Masks optional
Negative experience: Several complaints of harassment will call job, emails, cell phone although have payment already in system, refuse to accept payments from certain people will take a cash payment from my husband but not myself, payments are paid a month in advance and they will still harass you by wanting a certain credit card that you may not have, customer service at front counter not unsatisfactory came in twice today and had to wait 20minutes before being acknowledged. This is only issues from the month of December to January 2019. I could go on from all of my experiences since 2017 .

Fantastic experience: They offer so many fun activities!
Negative experience: Brought my daughter to use the pool and were kicked out as it was not 'family time', even though there was only one or two other people in the pool at that time. It's been a great club staff, is friendly but I'm not dealing with a family pool that you can't use. Also while I'm writing a reviews, water fountain is still broken, and the folks next door to the yoga class are still yelling and throwing heavy objects all through the class while you are trying to relax.

Fantastic experience: One of the best health clubs I've ever been to! I love how they have an indoor and outdoor pool, steam room & sauna (Even a hot tub). I even tried a cycling class for the first time and the staff was very informative and helped me set up my bike when I go to the class. Love spending time here!

Negative experience: Outdated machines. Wellness center needs to change the filter on the water fountain. No one should have to pay for 2 memberships to split the difference for efficiency considering there is a $200.00 admin fee to join and its the most expensive gym in town monthly. For tho$e types of charges this place needs to step it up pronto.
Brandon, we appreciate reaching out! It looks like you've been a member with us for less than a month but have checked in quite frequently (as recent as yesterday) despite the massive flooring renovation we were going through, so I thank you for your patience and your hustle! Through those four renovation phases, we had equipment pulled around the facility, from our spin bikes in a racquetball court (which was cool), to strength and cardio equipment around the track (not so cool). As noted, there is an issue with one of our water filter sensors by the fitness floor restrooms, where we replace the filter, the light is green and then a week later it goes to red. Those filters should last around six months, and it's strange it is going out. We've got a ticket in to fix that sensor again, or we'll have to replace the entire fountain soon. We assure the water is filtered and fresh. If you feel more comfortable, try our fountain between the basketball court and the indoor pool for the Halsey Taylor HydroBoost bottle filling station. We're proud to offer that amenity to our members and that by doing so you all help eliminate tens of thousands of plastic water bottles from our local landfills each year. HWC is on trend with equipment and technology from MYZONE heart rate monitor systems throughout the club, Precore Adaptive Motion Trainers,water rowers, shock-absorbing impact treadmills, Keiser M3 indoor cycles, pneumatic resistance machines, athletic stretch cage, impact-resistant Mondo flooring throughout the fitness floor, yoga studio and spin studio, and our Reformer Pilates studio. There are some upgrades we are looking at. The brand-new, Nike Grind-Tech flooring around our indoor track is unbeatable. So although we may be one of the most expensive clubs in town, we feel like our value is very competitive for those who want to take advantage of the unique amenities and services offered. Negative experience: Canceled membership and they kept charging me. Called and got put on hold forever and then transferred to a number that didn’t answer. Drove to the place and they said they had no record of me canceling even though I had filled out paperwork. Customer service
Negative experience: It’s absolutely ridiculous that they close all but two of the lanes in the pool for water aerobics AT THE BUSIEST TIME OF DAY. They’ll force people out of their lanes in the middle of their workout putting them into lanes with already two other people! We spend hours swim training for long distance races. I’ll be cancelling mine and my husband’s membership.
Negative experience: Just learned that one hoop is being raised from now on on fridays because it draws too large a crowd of people sneaking in, stealing things, etc. if there’s a full court. Don’t see how it’s faie to punish paying members because other people sneaking in

Fantastic experience: I absolutely recommend this gym to everyone. Best overall fitness and activities in any gym around. You get more bang for your buck. Has tennis, volleyball, indoor and outdoor pools, racquetball, basketball , tracks indoor and outdoor, spa , hot tubs, saunas, and really nice gym equipment. Also has plenty of classes yoga, zumba, aquatic, hiit classes. You name it. Not to mention daycare is the best. The staff here is amazing. I love everything about this place wish I signed up a long time ago. Yes healthy cafeteria as well.

Fantastic experience: This center is Heaven for fitness lovers. Indoor/outdoor courts, tracks, spas, and a gym that is regularly maintained and updated. The staff upstairs are friendly, competent, and well trained. The Wellness Center even has a restaurant! The quality of this gym compared to the price is second to none in the Beaumont area.

Negative experience: May 4th 2016 I been a member since 2002 and this place just to be very nice. but in the past few years is getting worse. today I had the worst experience. Communication of some employees & new management is bad, no hot water on the showers for over a week, man locker room dirty towel all the time. Some older employees and managers are very helpful and friendly service.. thanks and God bless
