Negative experience: I got my. membership and 2 months later. surprisingly I had a $ 69 anual fee, which Inwas so upset tjat I canceled my membership. It seems they were glad to cancel my membership. Ok you guys may have gotten $ 69, but you lost a customer! I wasn’t able to reply on the “owner” post. i’m just curious what do you offer to your member with a $69 annual fee in comparison with other gyms that offer amenities. I switched to Crunch for cost effectiveness, however I payed a higher anua fee and Crunch is not comparable to the other gyms.

Fantastic experience: I have had such a great experience since joining crunch . My personal trainer Vihn has been amazing to work with, and I have seen such a physical and mental change since starting my fitness journey with him . The staff is friendly . The manager Tara is always there to greet you when you walk in and answers any questions needed

Fantastic experience: I am a rock climber who has been training with Vinh Taylor since July 2024, and am grateful to him for educating me on functional training, strength building, and nutrition. I have been able to perform above my previous limits due to training with Vinh—who has new workouts for me every week, and takes the time to explain the significance of the movements. I would recommend Vinh to anyone looking to get stronger.

Fantastic experience: I joined Crunch Fitness July 2022 with the intent of using a personal trainer to reach my goals. A year later, with the help of my trainer Vinh I have been able to reach my goal! Vinh has been very supportive, helpful, and understanding. He is highly motivated and skilled. His knowledge base and expertise in the area of fitness is invaluable, inspiring, and greatly appreciated. He gives the utmost attention to the details of planning my workout sessions. Negative experience: Cancelled my membership in May when we moved, still getting billed into November. Location manager confirmed we are getting billed incorrectly, hasn't been able to get it to stop or credit us back. Multiple complains have already been made by others to the better business bureau by other people, seems to be a common problem. Avoid this gym at all cost. A ton of their equipment is broken / out of service, cleaning stations are mostly empty, bathrooms are a mess. Customer service has been no help.

Fantastic experience: Me and my wife love this gym and the staff is amazing. Classes are geat and the people here are fun. I have one request from crunch though , I don't know who's in charge of equipment repair but they should get on it a little faster. Just saying , but overall I love it .

Fantastic experience: Started Crunch before the Summertime strictly because of the yoga and spin classes.. Johns yoga class is informative and the closest thing to hot yoga that fits in my schedule rn. You really break such a sweat and leave feeling good. Sundays with Gina have become a part of my Sunday reset, more breathe focused and so great for the mental before starting a new week!

Negative experience: This is definitely the worst gym in the area. It is falling apart and I would not recommend it to anyone. -Hot water and water pressure issues in the men’s room since they opened 5+ years ago -Tons of machines (and the only water fountain) are frequently out of order. -There is one working digital scale; the others need to be calibrated, both on the floor and in the bathrooms -Many of the weight benches need repair or are missing parts -Machines are missing labels on the weights -Parts of the walls are peeling Every manager just gives excuses. I think the location is privately owned. This might be why there’s always issues. UPDATE: As of 8/10/2024, only the water fountain has been fixed.

Negative experience: Nice weight selection. Kinda dirty at times. Lately they've started playing bad music super loud to the point the bass is shaking the place. Can't hear your own music on full blast, you even hear the bass and music outside the building.

Fantastic experience: The environment is everything I look for while working out; music playing nice and loud, people getting into their workouts, weights slamming around. Very much unlike planet fitness which is more akin to a library than a gym. The variety of machines is impressive. Within the past year I've seen many new additions. The most notable for me has been the hack squat, something I always felt was missing from the gym. Now that it's here this is the perfect place for me to workout barring a home gym. I find the membership pricing to be completely fair for what I'm getting here. I go at least 3 times a week, usually with a guest, so I'm getting great value out of it. The staff is incredibly friendly. It's to the point where most of them recognize me and my buddies to the point they were a little thrown off that we came at a later time than usual. The gym is very clean. You'll see staff go around and clean up after folks who leave water bottles, paper towels, or any other mess someone was inconsiderate enough to leave. The locker room and showers are also very clean. Paper towels and spray bottles are pretty much always stocked, I've only encountered an empty paper towel dispenser once and as soon as a staff member was notified it was changed. Overall, I can't say enough how great of a gym this is. Also I can't say the 1 star reviews are correct as I have personally never had any issues here aside from the gym getting crowded. But what else do you expect? That's out of the control of the gym and something you have to live with. If you're starting to get a feel for working out and planet fitness isn't cutting it anymore I'd highly recommend Crunch Fitness any day of the week.

Negative experience: This location charged me monthly membership fees well beyond the termination of my club membership there, and when I called to speak to the general manager about a refund they were always not there or "on their way in" and I was told they would call me back (which they never did). I called this location 8 times in the past two weeks trying to speak to someone with the authority to assist me on this matter. I was finally able to speak with the personal training manager named RJ, who I acknowledge shouldn't have to deal with this kind of issue. Even still, they were polite and courteous and escalated the issue to the regional manager. They were also the ONLY person to actually call me back like they said they would, so thank you RJ. It has now been a week since that conversation and I have had zero contact from anyone in their corporate office, and when I called this location back to get their contact information I was met with an employee who was very rude, interrupted me multiple times while I was explaining my situation and then hung up on me. I never swore, I never raised my tone, I was simply persistent in trying to get more information and she clearly had no interest in trying to help me out. And of course she did not provide me with her name. I understand there is a new regional manager currently on-boarding (can I speak to the person training them??), but the complete refusal to put me in contact with anyone from corporate who has any authority in rectifying this mess is abhorrent customer service. My membership contract termination is documented, every payment erroneously made against my bank account is documented, and above all this isn't some struggling mom & pop fitness club, it's a national chain corporation. There is no reason it should be taking over two weeks & counting to speak with someone who has the authority to return my money to me. Y'all should be embarrassed. UPDATE: It has now been 2 months since I brought this issue to the club's attention, and I have only received a partial reimbursment for funds taken out of my bank account AFTER I ended my membership contract. The issue was escalated to the regional manager, who was able to get me a portion of the total amount owed to me, however he has not responded to my last 3 emails sent over the past 2 weeks, in which I simply asked when I would see the remainder of my money returned to me. It's very obvious Crunch is dragging their feet on this issue, even though it is abundantly clear they have stolen money from me, and I would highly recommend anyone thinking about joining this gym go elsewhere. There are some extremely shady practices going on with this place.

Negative experience: I joined Crunch Poughkeepsie in 2017 because it was close to my office. At the time, it was a good deal, with the machinery kept in good order and an affordable monthly price-tag. Since the end of the Pandemic, the quality of the place has gone downhill. Machines continually break, the filtered water bottle filling station is frequently out of order, paper towel dispensers and cleaning product spray-bottles are rarely refilled when the need arises, and other issues of quality control. They recently switched internet service providers, resulting in a much slower wi-fi speed that doesn't accommodate VPN connections for those of us who don't wish to use public wi-fi. This would be tolerable if their price remaining the same, but it has increased to over $20 per month for a base membership with no additional perks. At this rate, it will soon become cheaper to buy a membership to a budget gym like Planet Fitness or even to extensive health clubs such as AllSport that actually offer a wide range of amenities. I continue to go to Crunch as part of my routine but if this continues, I will cancel my membership and go elsewhere.

Negative experience: Overall, I don't have any issues with the facilities other than I wish there was more equipment at times. This is why I'm leaving it at 2 stars. However... Be warned about their membership. They'll increase them without reason or warning and it's built into the contract. I initially signed up for the base monthly plan (without yearly contract) for $14.99. In less than a year, my monthly payment was increased to $19.99 "without notice" (this is a sneaky tactic they included in the original agreement). A couple months ago, they increased it again to $21.99/month, again for the base monthly plan without the yearly contract. The $21.99/month exceeds the agreed upon price so as far as I can tell it actually breaks their contract!!! The website currently says as of November 2023, that the base monthly membership (without yearly contract) is $15.99/month. When I asked them why I was paying a higher rate, they said I was on an older plan. Not sure why me being on an older plan made it okay to increase the rate to $19.99 then to $21.99 even though they're not proving any more than their base plan. I would be willing to stay as a member if they offered to refund me the $76 of excessive charges ($62 assuming their newer advertised tate of $15.99/month). At the very least $6 reimbursement because I never agreed to the $21.99 rate and it exceeds the $19.99 maximum agreed rate that they can increase it to that I signed off on. But this predetory behavior makes me uncomfortable staying as a paying member of Crunch.

Negative experience: I have been a member at this gym since 2019 and have attended sporadically. Until recently when my doctor suggested I attend consistently . I started with my yoga , Zumba and the ride . I started to attend early in the morning for the ride class . Yesterday staff at this gym harassed me and mocked me from the minute I stepped foot in the gym . The woman Nicky at the front desk and one that has never said good morning and smiled at any members , said to me that I couldn’t take the ride class because I needed to upgrade. , I told her I would take care of it after the class and she started to mocked me by telling me that I couldn’t take the class. I asked for the manager and she began to grin sarcastically and told me she was not in . I must add that there were 7 empty spots as the 3x ‘s I had taken this class it has not been full . I told her I got up early for the class and proceeded to take the class . While I was taken the class I get a VM from the manager from an unknown number stating I couldn’t take the class, I need to upgrade . I couldn’t call her back since she blocked the number. However , She felt the need to harass me on thanksgiving day . Then, I was stopped by the class instructor Seth on my way out , telling me , rules have changed etc….I tried to keep on walking but he didn’t let me go on my business , mentioning different franchises etc . . I told him I would file a complaint since I had been mocked since I entered the gym . If this not harassment over a class I don’t know what is. This has been such and horrific and traumatic experience on thanksgiving day . This whole situation could have been avoided by talking humanly and respect as it should be . I must add , that crunch has been taking money out of my account since 2019 w/o me using the gym for a year at a time . And when I mentioned this to the woman Nicky she grin on my face with sarcasm . There’s no respect , ethic or professionalism . Some employees at this gym act as if they doing members a favor , I was disrespected and harassed by the employees mentioned above . The manager at this gym has no social or public relations skills along with some employees. . I felt like a criminal and this traumatic experience made my medical issues worst , defeating the purpose as to why I started to work out again . With the above statement . I will pursued further and request to cancelled my membership ASAP !

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to Poughkeepsie from West Palm and had been looking for a new gym so that I can continue my training as an athlete. I must say, I've been to a lot of gyms but this one is by far the most hospital. The staff was very nice and you can tell they really love what they do. Brian was the guy that helped me out and he definitely sold me on joining officially. He was very patient and helpful with any questions and concerns that I had. If you are looking for a gym that has a community aspect surrounding it as well as all around good people, I would consider joining this one!

Negative experience: Equipment always broken !!! Takes the owners 6-8 months to fix equipment and the idiots that try to fix the equipment DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING When equipment is finally fixed, the fixes BARELY last a MONTH, before they break again EVEN THE TOILETS KEEP BREAKING (AND IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE) Water fountain in various states of dysfunction Broken, No water pressure, WARM WATER (always warm) if your lucky to get any People are all complaining left and right, including staff HOW MANY MONTHS UNTIL THINGS ARE FIXED ?!?!?!?! 1. There are no longer $9.99 a month memberships, its new owners and new prices and no more frozen memberships like in the last 50 years at gyms 2. Broken equipment and critical equipment for, not days, not weeks, BUT MONTHS !!!! AND MONTHS !!!!! 3. Place is dirty and uncleaned 4. During COVID they did not enforce mask wearing 5. The bicycle class and tread mill class music and coaching is SO LOUD you can’t hear your own music even with ear buds 6. From where ever they get the younger high school or jr college crowd they come in, in groups of 3-5 and tie up the limited equipment due to being broken and they talk and talk and talk check their phones and talk some more 7. The TVs for the cardio bikes no longer have TV or anything Its just advertising 8. The ropes, and bars are either broken or all on the other end of the gym, so if you go to get the rope for cables by the time you get back you lost your turn 9. Such a shortage of equipment that some people place coats or bags or cell phone on the equipment so they hold it for there next exercise or superset and tie up 3-4 pieces of equipment for 1 person 10. Several of the bars are broken and some group of people keep a bar under lock and chain and you gotta know someone to get the combination 11. Their are NO PRICES marked on beverages and in the few prices i went out to compare you’ll pay 2x -3x more than what it is in amazon or at Vitamin Shoppe 12. Majority of these problems didn’t exist with the prior owner, these new owner(s) are COMPLETELY out of touch but their own gym in the albany area gets carte blanche 13. They have some idiot replying to complaints saying “THEY WANNA HEAR FROM YOU”, “THEY ARE SO SORRY” * THEN FIX THE EQUIPMENT * READ THE COMPLAINTS ******************************* FINALLY SOMEONE IS DISTRIBUTING A CLASS ACTION COMPLAINT AGAINST CRUNCH GYM FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT Thank god, finally !!!!

Positive experience: Staff is nice but some of the equipment is ripped which is very nasty since you can’t disinfect the foam padding that is exposed. I wish they replaced some of the cardio machines with 1 or 2 more squat racks. There seems to be way too many treadmills for the amount they are used.
Hi Jason Minhas, sometimes a piece of equipment requires a part that we don’t have and as soon as it comes in, we will have that machine up and running. If you see a broken piece of equipment please let the front desk team know, as it may already be in our maintenance log.

Negative experience: Total scammers will not let you cancel no matter what you do. Rude and mean management. I'm absolutely appalled at how they spoke to me, jeering that they wouldn't let me cancel. T This is their business model. Rip you off and prevent you from ever cancelling by threatening to destroy your credit. Send them a formal letter threatening legal action and they'll change their tune fast. They are literally predators.

Fantastic experience: Staff is so friendly and helpful, especially the Manager Angelique! She helped my friend and me sign up, spent the extra time with us. Fantastic experience: Good gym for the money. They open earlier than any other gym nearby. But it's usually crowded and there aren't many duplicate machines so it can be hard to get on the popular machines like the Smith machine.

Positive experience: Clean friendly staff and fellow members. Only negative for me is it seems like classes are set up too early and it does make it difficult to use equipment like sleds early in the morning. For example it is common to see a 6 am class setup 40 or so minutes early.

Negative experience: My experience with Joe as my trainer at crunch. He was truly negligent in my care. He never read my health history and recommended unsafe practices. For one eating 1000 calories for someone working out 3 hours a day. Fasting which you to be have careful with someone with PCOS which I have, and had very difficult time and made me initially dizzy. I told Joe repeatedly about getting dizzy he never did anything help. One day I almost passed out in one his exercise class due to fasting and high intensity work out. As I started losing weight my PCOS started to improve and metabolism started working more efficiently started burning 1500 to 2100 Active calories a day started getting dizziness and feeling sick , reach out Joe repeatedly and he ignored me, this started happening due to calories being to low calories 1000 which he recommended. when I went to him in person it was a struggle to get him raise calories he then raised to 1200 , which after that I immediately lose 5 pounds and started feeling better. I stopped working with him for a week then gave him the opportunity to make things better, but asked him for the results of my fitness test he did on me and a few exercise for home he said Yes multiple times and put in writing that he would do this, and he never actually give to me despite me asking multiple times. He would have management believe it was 5 or 7 day plan I wanted which in Reality I was only asking for a few exercise. He had me ordered equipment for this home exercise plan that never really existed. I paid over 500 for this service over a few months and I couldn’t even get a few exercise which would have cost him nothing at all. Through this experience he actually never once apologized or ever really consider my health. He a personal trainer who take personal out of personal trainer because he dose same exercise all day with each client almost never really considering them or there individual health. This is someone who dose not take his client health seriously especially if your a women. I Have have responded to Crunch by email which they never replied back.

Fantastic experience: Always a great place to workout, friendly and good layout for safer distance
Negative experience: I was looking to get into a new Gym as I am new to the area. I signed one for a 1 day pass. (Because they went from giving people a week to 1 day free) when you requested the pass they force you to put in your phone and agree to text messages. I didn't want that but fine. Today I went to try the gym for my 1 day. There was no problem there. The problem was that Crunch Fitness sold my information and I started getting calls from other Gyms like "Silk fitness" mind you I know it was them because they are the only gym I looked into and gave my information to. I don't need spam calls from other Gyms because this Gym wants to sell people's information. I now won't be signing up at this gym since Chrunch Fitness seems to think it is OK to sell people's information. These Gyms had all my information when crunch was the only Gym I looked into as it was the closest one to me, and it was the only one I gave my number or any info to, and now radon Gyms are hitting me up. Your 1 day pass wasn't worth being harrassed because they sold your information.

Negative experience: I was a member here for close to one year before COVID shut down the gym. My account was frozen and I attempted to close my account permanently. They said I had to come in to do that but I had already moved my residence. They started my account back up and charged me for another few months and full yearly renewal. Horrible management and customer service. Look elsewhere!

Negative experience: They reactivated my membership during covid *even though I have no interest in stepping foot inside a gym during covid.* I noticed the charge a few weeks later. Cancelled on the 10th because you must do it in person, but policy dictates you need to cancel 30 days ahead of time. So today on the 15th, I've just been charged $50 annual fee plus $10 for another month when I've already cancelled. Hilarious. Edit for those keeping track: I emailed the manager two months ago. No response. Keep in mind, my beef is with Crunch as a company not the people. It's a solid clean gym and the people who work here are good.

Negative experience: I was a member for several years. In March of 2020, COVID caused the gym to shut down. I wanted to cancel my membership and they told me I would have to come in in person to do that, and that they were shutting down that evening for an unknown amount of time. I couldn't go that evening, and wasn't comfortable going in in person anyway, to fill out paperwork and cancel my membership. Suddenly, without any communicatoosn or notifications whatsoever, for FIVE MONTHS, I guess the gym is open again now, because on August 31st I was charged a monthly fee AND the annual membership fee - even though I couldn't even use the gym for 5 of those 12 months!!! I will be canceling my membership TOMORROW. They got their last $60 from me. Very unprofessional and short-sighted.

Positive experience: I like the gym. However, I am giving it only 3-stars because of the inconvenience of having to walk away from not being able to take a 7:30pm class because the childcare closes at 8:00pm. Crunch should strongly take into consideration the parents that attend the gym and those who are more about the classes offered than the open gym. The childcare should at least be open until the end of the last class scheduled for the day. I am currently a non-member considering to join because what have had attracted me very much are the classes presently provided. However, not been able to leave my child in the childcare while I take a class is limiting me as far as my visits to the gym & more so is considerably limiting my decision to join.
Negative experience: Probably one of the worst gyms I ever been too. Over crowded and at its busiest times they hold a bunch of classes with 2 or 3 people in them while you are not allowed to work out near them but hard not to because the gym is so small. Management very rude. Consider membership canceled.
Fantastic experience: Good selection of equipment, friendly trainers, and CLEAN. I can't emphasize this enough, the amount of light and cleanliness of the gym/equipment makes all the difference to me. It doesn't smell like a gym, and for those who like to exercise before work in the morning, it isn't crowded.

Fantastic experience: If you're someone who wants to improve yourself overall this is the right place. Came here from another gym and I instantly started seeing changes in myself. Even when the gym is busy there is something for you to do and everyone is just minding their own business. The staff are polite and are always making sure everything is on the right spot. Machines and benches are always clean. People here are also polite and the environment overall is great and not toxic.
