Our comment from FitFit United States about Canyon Crest Athletic Club:
Canyon Crest Athletic Club is a welcoming and family-oriented fitness facility located in Riverside, offering a variety of amenities for its members. The gym is often praised for its clean environment and friendly staff, creating a pleasant atmosphere for workouts. Users appreciate the childcare services, which are noted for the attentive care provided to children, making it a great option for parents.
Members enjoy a range of fitness options including racquetball, basketball, and diverse exercise equipment that meets the needs of all fitness levels. Additionally, many clients appreciate the fully equipped locker room that features a spa, sauna, and steam room.
While many reviews highlight positive experiences at the gym, some concerns have been raised. The gym can become crowded during peak hours, which may affect workout routines due to limited equipment availability. Moreover, there have been remarks about the need for maintenance of certain facilities, particularly the swimming pool and specific gym equipment.
Overall, Canyon Crest Athletic Club is viewed as a solid choice for those seeking a friendly and supportive workout environment, though new management may enhance the cleaning standards and facility updates to better serve their clientele.
Canyon Crest Athletic Club: Opinions

Fantastic experience: beautiful gym the best thk u kevin.mark.boreman.steve.bob chandlier. jim. for sharing much love towards me. i will miss u all we shared beautiful times at this gym family oriented i hope new ownership invites silver sneakers again
Fantastic experience: Gonna miss this place. It was such a nice vibe here. You could work out and not worry about anything. Wish it had true barbell squat racks. That was the big let down for me. The bathrooms always clean. The racket ball was fun also. Hope the new owners do a good job
Positive experience: This is a very nice, clean facility and the staff is great. It is small, though, so if there are more than a few other people there you’re going to have a hard time sticking to a prescribed regime and you’ll need to be prepared to alter your workouts depending on equipment availability. Recently I’ve started going around 9:30AM due to a schedule change and the gym is basically unusable due to how many people are there, and a select few that bring in big gym bags and leave them on machines while they go use something else across the gym. While I know this kind of inconsiderate gym goer is very common, unfortunately you can’t really compensate for it at this gym because of its size so you’ll end up stuck to a treadmill, recumbent bike or in a corner with a few dumbbells until these people leave. I have seen a few of the trainers talk to these kinds of people in the past but the issue is persistent even though lockers are readily available. The childcare at this facility is unmatched. If you need childcare at your gym, CCAC is definitely worth trying out if you have some flexibility in when you can get to the gym. The ladies in the childcare center really care about and engage with the kids and there are almost always other kids there for yours to play with.I’ve canceled the membership due to the aforementioned issue, but we’re really going to miss the childcare center and it’s staff! My daughter asked to go almost every day. Overall, great gym if you can avoid the busy times.
Negative experience: Diry place no clean shower towel available
Negative experience: No cleaning rude staff
Negative experience: My advice don't waste your money on this gym. Staff is super rude and towels super old don't have enough towels. Staff don't want to work no cleaning been coming 5 years quality going down negative
Negative experience: HORRIBLE, uninterested staff. Unhelpful and leads one to believe you are putting them out.
Negative experience: I tried getting some piece of my membership months back. I paid for a full year right when covid hit. I was told I could recieve a few months back last year. But unfortunately this place decided not to give a anything back. Mind you, I was only able to use 2 months of my yearly membership. This also included an extra month. Very disappointing. I've called and emailed but never got an answer. No email warning about expired membership either. Or anything that has to do with my membership. I will gladly retract this statement once I get a response.
Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly, The facilities and equipment are clean and in working conditions.
Positive experience: I love the gym for the great lockeroom with spa, sauna and steam room. The employees are amazing and a very friendly place. I was surprised that this gym was missing a lying leg curl machine that isa basic equipment in other gyms plus missing other newer equipment . I enjoyed the fact that the squat racks are always available since the gym is never crowded. The one issue on the weekends is that the gym opens so late.
Fantastic experience: Clean , convenient , and nice employees. All the equipment seems new . Only downside i could see is their hours. ( not open past 11 and closes early on Sunday )
Fantastic experience: Love it!
Positive experience: I love this gym for all of its amenities and respectful clients and staff. Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and all the other stuff. The one thing i hate and prevented me from giving a 5 star review is that the treadmills are absolutely trash. I know they can afford to change them out by now. I have been going to this gym for over 10 years, And I'm considering giving up because of the treadmills that don't run properly at 8 mph and above.
Fantastic experience: This place is great. The clientele is friendly, the entire mood of the building is better than any other gym I've been to. There's always plenty of room and it's not usually crowded. This is very much an athletic club, not a franchise gym.
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Negative experience: The pool is my only complaint, and it's a big one. The walls are thick with grease and i hear it's only cleaned once a month. For a pool that has many different strangers in it everyday, that's simply not enough. I have been a swimmer all my life and have never had swimmer's ear before swimming here. So it looks like the dirty water is the most likely cause. The rest of the equipment seems to be fairly maintained and clean. Staff is friendly and the classes/instructors they have are great! Just please, please give the pool some more love!!
Fantastic experience: I have an excellent trainer, Dan Felix. The gym is always clean and the staff pleasant. What I like most is the quality of the equipment. It’s not too heavy for women which I have found to be a problem in some family oriented gyms that I have visited. Over all, an excellent facility! Ruth M. Jackson 8/14/22.
Positive experience: The gym is nice. Just old
Fantastic experience: Always a great workout at Canyon Crest Athletic Club
Negative experience: Staph infection or some other type of infection from the pool.. I used their pool for about 30 minutes, broke out in some sort of rash the next day. I have no history of rashes or anything like this. Note: this also could have been from using their steam room. This makes sense since they do not use chlorine in their pool, they just leave it all natural (which is actually really nice, but not clean). That said, this is a nice gym.. plenty of equipment, lots of space, racquetball, basketball - cool place. But if you can't keep it clean, then it only gets one star. Also, they are out of towels a lot.
Fantastic experience: I go here for raquet ball 10$. 20$ for daily whole gym.
Fantastic experience: The best place to train. Everybody is like family.
Positive experience: A great neighborhood gym, with a swimming pool and a variety of classes as well as a large and diverse weight room, among other amenities. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is that I wish there were more classes available regularly in the 12-2 pm slot and 7-9 pm slot. Or, if they could partner with a studio to have dance lessons in the evening, that would be amazing!
Fantastic experience: A wonderful place to work out at. Good staff. Clean facility.
Fantastic experience: Superb and one of the last gyms with a steamroom
Negative experience: Staff is great, dire need of repairs and general maintenance
Positive experience: Friendly staff, clean equipment
Positive experience: Really dilapidated since I was a member about 10 years ago. They really don't take care of this place anymore.
Positive experience: This place has been around for long time and it shows, gym equipment is old and outdated. Limited machines and often broken. And gym fees are way overpriced for the facilty.
Fantastic experience: The people work there are so awesome you can fill the love when you walk in then have the best work out
Fantastic experience: I like that I don't feel I'm at a "meathead" gym with 21 year olds looking for dates. A good "no nonsense mom needs time for herself" place to work out at my own pace.
Fantastic experience: The staff here is wonderfully personable, and the facility is clean and well-maintained. I can't speak to the classes or the pool, since I haven't used them, but the machines are in good condition and easy to use.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and open private gym
Fantastic experience: Up scale exercise facility. Excellent variety of exercise machines and free weights.
Fantastic experience: Staff is helpful and gym has been rearranged for social distancing. Canyon Crest Athletic Club is ready!
Fantastic experience: To anybody that would complain about this gym you just have to be a miserable person. Probably one of these liberals that hate everything in life.. This gym is beyond clean the staff is super friendly... Sure they can use Wi-Fi but why do you need it wider at the gym your there to workout lol stop staring at your phone the whole time or at the gym and get a life. I've been to LA Fitness I've been to 24 hour fitness I've been to crunch have been to gyms all over the country and this is far better than 95% of them.. If you need all of the 24 hour fitness and LA Fitness commodities then go there... But I much rather a gym like this that you can go have a good solid workout with good people there... Not a bunch of douchebags taking pictures in the gym every 5 seconds....
Fantastic experience: Good gym. They have a good squad of regulars here. Staff is decent. I recommend.
Positive experience: When we signed up for a family membership back in November, it seemed like a nice place to swim and work out. We were told that while my children were too young to work out that we could bring them to swim with us. Well here it is June and they have changed the policy without informing people. Now they insist that grandma (my mom) cannot bring my kids without paying $10 per 45 minute session. What a racket! While the club is still well maintained, they have deceptive business practices. Beware!
Positive experience: Update: The club has made contact with me and has cleared up the misunderstanding. I appreciate the rapid response. I am deleting the message below regarding my concern.
Fantastic experience: Never too crowded to do what you need to do in the weight room and it's a great place to play basketball.
Positive experience: Club is awesome, but a lil aged. Needs remolding.
Fantastic experience: It's a wonderful place and get physical therapy at the same place
Positive experience: The Gym refuses to install wifi for its costumers, even though 99% of every other large gym like this has free wifi. I think they finally installed wifi.
Positive experience: I really like this place. It does not get to crowded and it's affordable. It also has all the machines and weights you could ever want
Positive experience: Good equipment and staff
Fantastic experience: Excellent massage! The best ever
Fantastic experience: I've been able to go through and paint the interior walls and doors
Fantastic experience: Racquetball !!
Negative experience: How do I get someone (anyone) to respond?! Went into the club 3 weeks ago to cancel. Signed the cancellation AND STILL WAS CHARGED! My account has yet to be cancelled after reach out numerous times thorough email requests, calls, etc. Absolutely no communication from management!
Fantastic experience: I love working out here! Very well equipped and staffed. Wouldn’t go anywhere else in Riverside.
Fantastic experience: Very clean facility and probably in the best shopping center in riverside
Fantastic experience: This Gim is very clean and sauna is great
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, the staff is super friendly and the facility is always in great shape. There is plenty of equipment for how many people there are. The classes and instructors are also great if that is something you like. I really love how they have a sauna and steam room.
Fantastic experience: Nice place to pump some iron not to crowded plenty of equipment
Fantastic experience: Cleanest gym and high class
Fantastic experience: Best gym around. Never have to wait for machines or weights like at 24 hour fitness or la fitness. No douchebags. Everything is super clean, and has that unique feeling like its one of a kind. Staff is awesome too. Check it out
Fantastic experience: Always find a empty machine to work out on.
Fantastic experience: Canyon Crest Athletic Club is a great place to enjoy a great interview with a trainer to help you get all you need to enjoy a great workout. Keep or get yourself in shape, get it to win it!
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out. Mostly professional/family oriented clientele. Never over crowded. Been going here for 20 years, feels like bome.
Positive experience: CCAC is an excellent workout facility. However, cannot understand why the club would not have WiFi available for members.
Positive experience: Good service, but out dated.
Positive experience: honestly, i love this place when i first started here. I love the work out and the working stuff, but i think the management departemnt should take more attention to your machines and basketball court, i mean you guys can get better at this. i know it is hard for small business gym to compete with 24 hour or la fitness, but you guys should at least make the basketball floor and some of the machine better. i have lot of expectation for this place since your price is almost equivalent to 24 hour fitness.
Negative experience: This is a very over priced for what you get. In fact, the weight rooms are small and the showers/facilities are poor. The thing that frustrated me a lot is upon canceling the force me to pay another month as they have a 30 day cancellation policy which is bogus. That is just theft as I am not going to be using gym I should not be forced to pay another 50 bucks. I would not recommend this gym to anyone.
Negative experience: Facility is relatively clean, and people are (more or less) friendly. However, any suggestions to improve or upgrade anything in the facility are invariably ignored. Don't expect management to ever act on a suggestion, no matter how timely or useful it might be; they never do. More specifically, suggestions go in one ear, and right out the other, feigned interest to the contrary notwithstanding. The facility needs to offer free wireless, particularly given the cost of membership. (As an aside, virtually everyone in the gym is wearing a headset. Hence, it's not necessary for (alleged) "music" (read: noise) to be pumped throughout the facility. It's distracting and annoying.) Further, the basketball court needs to be refurbished and upgraded, including the addition of hanging punching bags, which are available in virtually every gym, everywhere. Conclusion: While the facility is okay, it's certainly nothing spectacular. Further, it's clear that management chooses not to make expenditures to upgrade or improve anything around the facility unless they are absolutely forced into doing so. Either they don't have the spare cash lying around (doubtful), they're too cheap (likely), or they just don't care (even more likely). Whatever the case, it's unacceptable.
Positive experience: Need to update the basketball gym. It's in horrible shape. Also would like to have WiFi. Other than that the gym is clean and staff is very friendly.
Positive experience: I left the gym after 20 years of membership, because my bill went up year after year, to reach the grand old sum of $528 for a 13 month-membership: totally overpriced, despite the fact that they grandly offered me a $3/month discount for having been with them so long. Their excuse? the cost of new equipment, and the minimum wage increase means that they have to charge us more... Folks, this wage increase is going to take years to implement.... So I decided to join a very cheap gym instead, they charge $130/13 months, and now I can see what I've gained and what I'll be missing! What I disliked about CCAC: Their total lack of transparency regarding fees, it's nowhere on their Website... Also, it was filthy, honestly! The shower cubicles are a disgrace, hair, grime on the walls, broken soap/shampoo dispensers, nasty-looking rugs. They know about it, as I've complained a few times, including showing them the color of my white towel once I'd placed it on the rug so I wouldn't stand on it with my bare feet! Their equipment is aging and their machines too close to one another for comfort. In my $10/month new gym, they've got super clean showers and tiles, and many more machines. What I am going to miss from CCAC: as a woman in her early 50s, I was within my comfort zone there, although parking may be tricky, the staff is very friendly and kind, although I never saw anyone doing any cleaning, which is disturbing. I'm going to miss the small spa and jacuzzi too, and they provided towels, soap, shampoo and lotion, as well as hair dryers, but are they worth that much extra money? I don't think so! I used to love CCAC under the old management, but ever since the management changed 4-5 years ago, the place has gone downhill. Had they offered me a better deal for being a faithful customer, I'd have stayed. A shame.
Negative experience: I sincerely regret joining this overpriced gym and would strongly recommend against it.
