Fantastic experience: Ima start off with saying this gym is the best gym in Bakersfield, hands down. I’ve been a member here for a while and I have never had a bad experience here. The BX Staff Team and Management are top tier when it comes to member services and hospitality. It’s feels like home here, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. They also have very good and clean equipment and sanitary bathrooms. I’ve been to a fair amount of gyms in my lifetime and by far BX is the best in my personal opinion. Signings up with them is an excellent choice and an easy process. The staff here are very informative and knowledgeable about the gym and workouts of all types. I love this place and I Know you will too.

Fantastic experience: BodyX demonstrates strong leadership by consistently guiding their team and members towards achieving their goals. Their ability to inspire and motivate their members contributes significantly to the gyms overall success. One individual who is always helping members out and getting involved repeatedly in the gym is Juan. I’ve personally just got to meet Juan recently and already has he become an outstanding team player and also a figure I always enjoy seeing in the gym. Overall the BodyX on white ln has proved to me that not all gyms are the same and they have raised the standard in which i would like to see throughout all BodyX’s.

Negative experience: Terrible management, bunch of kids running this “business” incapable of fixing anything. Equipment stays broken for months, fees have been raised without consent 3x in the last year. After the annual maintenance charge, there is not a single gym upgrade—guess that is just a cash bonus for the owner. Clientele here are rude and not the type of people you’d want to be at the gym with (take 3-5 machines at a time and when you try to use one, then some clown comes over claiming, “I’m using that” despite being all over the gym accomplishing nothing on any machine—the children running the gym have this response: “well I guess he is using it, so…”).

In response , we just placed many new pieces of equipment in ALL of our locations in the last 30 days. Negative experience: This is the worst Gym that you could get a membership at ever in California. They are charging me even though I did send a request to cancel my membership. Also, it is a 100 dollars fee to cancel it one of the worst gyms ever. They don’t explain the policy right, and they Surprise you with the overpriced charges.. Please don’t get a membership even if you have to exercise at home just don't.

Negative experience: Hard to cancel. I tried canceling before the new year and cannot get a hold of anyone. You have to send in a cancellation request online. They took over a week to get back to me and charged me the yearly annual fee and told me I cannot get it refunded. I have been a loyal member for years now so it’s pretty messed up. Facility is a ran down with leaking roof. If you like getting rained on while you work out, you will like this place. Not worth the price.

Fantastic experience: TJ the VP gave me the VIP treatment. This location is great. Very spacious. Gym is very clean and equipment is new and works well. No torn cushions here! Lots of squat racks so you won't need to wait for one! Great variety of cardio, including a Jacobs Ladder, don't see those everyday! Great environment all around, highly recommend.

Positive experience: Removing basketball courts was a member for 10 plus years kept it open just to play sometimes didn’t go for months. The gym is okay otherwise no courts In-Shape is now a better option unfortunately

Negative experience: The staff is very rude and lazy. When you decide to leave they tell you the only way to cancel your membership is by going online and when you do they send an email saying they are unable to complete the request and you have to go back to Body xchange. Now you’re getting the entire run around just to get out of that horrible place.
We received your request for cancellation and responded on 9/30/20 with the additional steps you will need to take in order to close your account.

Negative experience: Do your self a favor and stay away from that gym. Awful management, terrible place. Microphone never works, instructors have to scream so you can hear them. It's never clean there is a dust everywhere. Mirrors are dirty, equipment are old and broken most of the time. They can't even have a normal clocks to show the correct time. And when you call the corporate office to complain. they never do anything about it. They have cut lots of classes. They are sure charging you money every year for improvement. But do nothing about broken machines. Bye bye awful please. I can really go on and on. But I have no time. Just remember and don't say " I did not know"

Negative experience: I was unaware I even had an account with Body Xchange, because I was under the impression that I had canceled my membership. Then, I received an email from their facility stating I would be charged a yearly membership fee to renew the membership. This was not cool with me, in that I was not asked for permission prior to the account being renewed. So, I called the Body Xchange on White Lane in Bakersfield, California. The female representative who answered the phone was very friendly. I told her of the email and explained I had canceled my membership a long time ago and should not be receiving such an email from them. The rep stated I was correct and had no account. I responded, "Regardless of what you're saying, since I have received notification that I am going to be charged, I would like an email or letter stating I will not be charged and confirming I do not have an account with your facility." The rep responded that it was impossible to do so, and then stated she would be transferring me to her manager. Once transfered, I relayed the same information to the manager. He told me he was unable to send me any sort of confirmation. Upset, I retorted and demanded I receive some sort of confirmation I am of under no financial obligation to their facility. He refused. Next, I called Body Xchange on Calloway Drive in Bakersfield, California. I relayed the issue, and once again was told it was impossible to receive any sort of confirmation from them. Instead, I would have to speak to a representative in the corporate office. Withholding my urge to get upset, I called the corporate office. After a 10 minute phone call, I was able to get confirmation that I would receive an email stating I have canceled my membership with Body Xchange. I feel it should not be this difficult to ensure I will not be in any sort of financial commitment with a gym. Life is hard enough as it is. I don't need the "iron fist" of a company, who is making substantial profits as it is, to expose me to the emotional stress I had to go through to ensure my departure from their establishment.
Positive experience: Please don't take the bars from the bench press area and move them over to other side of the gym where they already have bars for you to do what you wanna do. I do like the new area they got for sled push

Negative experience: First let me say I've been a member off and on for over 10 years. This gym needs new management. First of all the basketball there is bringing the place down, you have street kids consistently sneaking in through the outdoor basketball court. They hop the fence and come in through the outside bathrooms. I've mentioned this several times to management and they don't increase security. Street kids walk in whenever they want. Second, these street kids are cussing swearing and the basketball court is horribly mismanaged, this gym is not a nice place to work out, street kids everywhere talking trash, fighting, causing problems. The water fountains there have been there at least 10 years, why not take some of that facility improvement money and invest in a water purifier/water bottle re filler. I mean come on even airports have these now. Lastly kid care is horrible, they let 11 year old special needs kids fight, yell and scream all over the little toddlers, my kid has PTSD from the kid care fiasco. I have since switched gyms and will no longer go to body exchange which is sad, this was my favorite gym, but the wild basketball kids, old water stations, and horrible kid care has ruined it.
Negative experience: This gym is a joke they don't care about the business or the customer they only care about the dollar coming in. Also Most the equipment has "out of order" signs on it. I suggest going to inshape it's worth the few extra dollars.

Positive experience: I have used this gym for 13 of the last 14 years. I have found it satisfactory until I found another gym that was satisfactory for a lot less. I just recently came back at a much more reasonable monthly fee and it is close enough to my home to justify paying a little more.
Positive experience: I would give it a 5 star but sadly no I am not too ok with the children's club members there they treated my kids rudly when my kids have not had troubles with anyone in other body xchange locations or even in school

Negative experience: I gave this place a shot despite the mixed reviews. Smelled awful, no one using towels, half of the cardio machines didn't work, but it was ok for the moment. My previous location of choice is in the process of moving so I decided to go back a couple more times. Same issues every time, but last night I only spent 48 minutes inside and come out to my car window busted out. I wasn't parked in the dark, it was well lit. Other cars were undisturbed. Still, between the subpar overpacked gym, general look/smell, and the hood rats that case the parking lot, I'm cool. I'd rather get my cardio on a trail than use my gym membership until the new location opens.
Positive experience: The workers are great! They are the only reason I give them 3 stars. The equipment is always down and because of this it takes for ever to get through a work out because you are constantly waiting on things.
Negative experience: This is the worst gym in Bakersfield. They trap you into long contracts and have the nerve to close off half of the gym for a weekend because people left trash on the ground and God forbid they had to clean it up. The owner told me as a marine corps vet I should be used to being massed punished and was extremely disrespectful. This business is based on greed, so if you want a gym that takes care of you look elsewhere. Just read other reviews I'm sure you'll see just how awful it is from others.
Negative experience: So crowded! I have a hard time finding a machine and the environment is so uncomfortable. If you in your 20's this would be a great place to hook up, but for me, I just want to exercise! Not happening here. Can't wait to be out of my membership!
