Negative experience: The gym is permanently closed, however they have not updated their google page

Negative experience: My son, Braydon Weddle has been fighting this gym for his money back for months after he cacelled. His account has been overdrawn as he does not have a job yet after moving back home. His uncle, a lawyer is currently working on his case and will file if he isn't refunded by tomorrow February 6, 2024.

Positive experience: I was going to this gym since 2021 they randomly closed. I was really disappointed because I really liked this place and the equipment.

Negative experience: I was new to this gym. Really liked my trainer Mike, the staff was friendly and gym was clean. I gave 2 stars because they gave 24 hour notice doors were closing. And can't be bothered to update their website, still shows open. Too bad another gym owner can't come in and open this place back up.

Negative experience: Poor communication, does not return calls or emails. Very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Never sign up here. My wife had a membership here and canceled it due to a car accident. 3 months later they are still charging her. The bank is starting to investigate cause this gym is saying she has been going the entire time. She has emails with trainers and managers explaining her cancelation due to the accident. They had agreed to cancel it. We are taking this to court cause this is fraud. Trust me stay away from this place.

Positive experience: Not a bad gym. Gave it 3 stars because the gym itself is pretty good, machines all work but my complaint is the showers. I pass thru Arizona every week and stop at this location to work out but everytime I stop here the hot water never works in the showers and showers are filthy. I'm a truck driver who has seen many dirty truck stop showers but this crunch location takes the cake. Please fix your showers so that people can use them as part of the membership that we pay for. Thanks.

Negative experience: It is apparent that when this gym mischarges your accounts, they only offer things in return and not a refund. Seems like an illegal way of forcing sales

Negative experience: This place never seems to fix anything, mirrors that have been broken for years have not been fixed, sauna works for a week then breaks and doesn’t get fixed for months, lazy staff that don’t seem to restock paper towels and just sit at the front counter all day. Don’t go to this gym!!

Negative experience: idiots work at the reception. I am Castomer clubs Planet Fitness. I saw an advertisement for 3 days for free in crunch Fitness. Filling out the data, came to the club for a trial training. But I was not allowed, I demand payment, since I do not live in Arizona. I am a truck driver and use clubs throughout the country

Positive experience: The bathrooms sure could use janitorial service.

Negative experience: I never subscribed to this gym, I used to go to YouFit on camelback before it shut down during COVID and my membership was forcibly transferred to this sorry gym. I cancelled the subscription multiple times. Ive spoken to multiple supervisors saying “I’m sorry, all you have to do now is email me at Prath or bryce at crunch Avondale dot com and I’ll cancel your subscription.” I guess I didn’t know they were still charging me because I found out once I lost my debit card last year. My payments stopped going through and this year I started getting texts stating they were sending me to collections unless I signed up for their $1 membership. So for the third time I spoke with them and they apologized and told me everything was handled and I wouldn’t be sent to collections. Today I got a text from Prath stating that my account is in collections and they will remove my account from collections if I sign up again. This is the work of the devil. I haven’t gone to the gym in years. I have bad lungs and a weak heart and can’t just gym anymore, especially not in an overcrowded and dirty gym. I hope they leave me alone

Fantastic experience: I had a very great experience at Crunch. Friendly staff , my personal trainer Prath explained the training process very throughly and motivated me in my new journey to become a better me. Definitely a great gym to get started.

Fantastic experience: Crunch Avondale is awesome the staff to include Prath , Jarely, and Bryson are always so wonderful and helpful. if I ever need anything they are available. Questions I may have about equipment or class schedules they always answer them and are very knowledgeable! Please come join today their equipment is clean as well bathrooms too !

Negative experience: Horrible cancelation policy and terrible manager. I'd recommend any other gym don't waste your time and money here

Negative experience: While the gym itself is good enough for most people, I thoroughly disagree with their cancelation policy. They make you email the facility manager to request cancelation rather than take care of it immediately when you walk in. Then, they will charge you an additional month of membership even if you cancel before weeks before you are usually charged. Finally, the most important part, they charge you for an additional YEAR of membership unless you cancel 30 days prior to the month of renewal. Please note this ridiculous policy when shopping for a gym. This one will take as much as they can get out of you.

Negative experience: The WORST gym ever. Horrible experience at crunch. Never thought I could've had a bad experience at a gym, but this made it happen. Went in there once to try it out and turn out all the bathroom stalls were broken. Couldn't even go to the bathroom. Most machines were broken. The cable machine wasn't even working either. Told them I wanted to cancel my membership and had me email someone. I was hoping I wouldn't pay the annual fee for just going in ONCE. Nope, the owner kept on saying he can't and he can't. Bad customer service. Pretty bad gym to go to, not recommended at all. If zero stars was possible, I'd place it below that.

Positive experience: Yes crunch is by far my favorite public gym however there are a few things that push me further and further away. For one, there are multiple lights at the HITT zone that constantly flicker which is a medical hazard. The “crunch-o-meter” is NEVER updated correctly. There have been multiple times where it was “light capacity” and it was packed. Last but not least a lot of the equipment has been squeaking and stalling lately. There obviously needs to be a reevaluation of the maintenance of this gym. Other than that I love and appreciate the culture of this gym.

Fantastic experience: Great place! Location and parking is convenient. General manager and trainers are knowledgeable in their field. Has cool amenities like hydro massage, tanning, sauna, and red light therapy. I go here often and enjoy the amenities. If you have a specific machine in mind to use, be mindful to time your workout between busy hours or just try out a new machine till the one you want is available. Enjoy this place and the staff and I will be coming here for the years to come.

Negative experience: Overall I really had a poor experience at this particular location. Machines are often out of order as well as the other promised amenities. When it came to personal training you may sign up for three months but if you do not say 30 days prior to the last month that you are done you will be charged for another. Along this thread there is also the consistent cancelling of appointments. If you are looking for a gym with basic materials and not a very welcoming staff this is the place for you. Hope this helps in respect to future planning.

Positive experience: Pretty sick gym in my opinion. Has most of the things that someone who wants to get into fitness needs. Very beginner friendly and most mornings and mid days aren’t busy. The busiest hours tend to be around 5 pm going forward because of people getting out of work and kids getting out of school. Like every gym how ever it lacks some things. The price of the gym went up recently not too much but a bit and the price isn’t bad at all but a price increase should also mean better amenities and cleanliness at the overall gym. I find myself always looking around for weights because they tend to be a bit disorganized which is pretty normal for a gym but the thing that really lacks is clean bathrooms. Some of the equipment is also starting to show wear which is normal but should also be kept up with. The bathrooms almost always tend to be dirty and one of the stalls doesn’t close right. The hand dryers are also very dirty and need cleaning. Overall however this gym is a great place to be at but the bathrooms really do lack. With the improvement I believe the gym would be a lot better not only for the price but for the overall environment. 3.5 Stars

Negative experience: Carging my bank account for a membership i dont own. They said they csnt belp me even tho i vave them the membership number attached to the withdrawl...they are repeatedly taking money from my account but they are saying the membership doesnt exist!

Fantastic experience: I gotta say, this is my favorite gym. The personal trainer Justin showed me some unique, unorthodox or uncommon workouts but in the good way. I think the workouts he showed me was more effective than the other trainers showed their clients(not trying to offend any trainer by all do respect). I'm sure the other trainers are great too but I gotta give it my man Justin he went all out. It gave me the motivation, confidence to come back to this gym and focus on my own craft to stay consistent

Positive experience: I have been coming to this gym since they first opened this location and it has grown a lot since then. The staff is very friendly, especially the ones at the front. They carry a wide variety of weights and equipment, so you can easily find what you’re looking for no matter what level you are at. They offer multiple classes and they have the app to easily sign up as well. As mentioned before, the membership has increased over the years and I think it has out grown the location. On top of that, the bathrooms are far from clean (they have improved on this, probably due to all the complaints) and the floor is dirty. Some of the equipment are worn, tattered/torn, squeaky and or just have broken pieces that have not been replaced. They don’t have a lot of specific equipment, which becomes an issue when they have their scheduled classes, because you HAVE to give up the space and equipment that the trainers want to use for the classes. I think this has been one of the biggest issues for me overtime. The space is limited as is and the HIIT fitness sessions take up about a third of the gym for an hour each session, not including the setup/breakdown times. This can be frustrating when you want to use a specific piece of equipment seeing as they don’t have another. Some of the things mentioned are found in other gyms as well, however it doesn’t seem as if they are trying to fix the issues that are brought up in complaints. I initially joined because of the location, however the cons are starting to outweigh the pros.

Fantastic experience: The staff are pretty nice. The facilities and equipment have all been fairly clean. They have quite a selection of machinery and workout areas to choose from. I’d imagine it’s probably not the best choice for someone with tons of experience such as body builders but for the average person I think it’s great. Not really sure what it’s like during peak hours, but I’ve been told it never gets too packed even then. Hopefully they continue to provide the same great service as I’m currently very content with this membership.

Fantastic experience: I lived in Arizona for an Internship during the majority of Summer 2022, and my housing was locally in Avondale. My friend took me here on my first day out in AZ, and I am so happy she did. My experience at this health club was extraordinary and I mean it when I say - it truly taught me to love fitness again! It really does hold the "no judgement zone" mantra it promotes, and I had great experience with all of staff at the facility. Everyone was always super welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Machines/equipment was also always well up-to-date and high quality. 10/10 recommend. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be back.

He really went above and beyond when the system was not working and was very understanding of my time and that i could not wait!!! Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I have gone to a lot of gyms where there are judgmental and rude people, however everyone at Crunch is so friendly and helpful-staff and members. Even when I accidentally joined a fast paced Spanish speaking Zumba class and I was the only one that didn’t understand, everyone was so patient and nice. It does get busy during normal peak hours so good luck getting a squat rack then, but most times of the day all of the equipment is open and available. Veryyy few people forget to rerack their weights. Most people are very respectful of other peoples time and space. I haven’t needed help from the staff often but when I do they are helpful.

Negative experience: Second Sunday in a row that I'm sitting here when they were supposed to be open at 6:00. It seems scheduling is a problem on the weekends. Over my time at the gym I've lost count of how many times on the weekends that I've been here on my schedule to find the doors locked.

Positive experience: I started coming to this gym when it first opened up at the Gateway Plaza and it was a great gym it's first year, but has sadly gone down hill since. I understand no gym is perfect and they will always have their issues, but The Avondale Crunch's biggest problem is its terrible cleanliness. From the gym floor to the locker room, weights (plates) are never organized, you have to hunt for plates from other machines. Locker rooms are just nasty, the showers look trashy and only have 2 settings, hot or boiling, infact the showers are hotter than the sauna, just stand outside it works better than their "sauna", if you want an actual sauna experience the Gilbert location is spot on. No one cleans or wipes the inside of lockers so you keep checking til you find a cleaner one and don't even get started with toilets and urinals, I've seen cleaner at bars. But with all that said it's other problem is the demographic of people that come through, alot of people who have no respect for the gym and it's machines or even its other members, then theres people who sit on the machine while on their phone as they edit their instagram picture/post during the busy times of the day, or even groups of people who set up whole light and camera equipment and hog a squat rack for hours. To its advantage the Avondale Crunch is located at a very popular location but that's how it's attracts its demographic, the location is just out growing its small space. I personally bounce in between the Avondale and Phoenix locations, I prefer and recommend the Phoenix location as it does not have these problems but the Avondale location is closer to me. Fortunately it's got great and friendly employees who work there and will happily help you out with anything, their friendly attitudes are uplifting and motivating, it helps keep the gym alive. This review is just a friendly reminder to all who contemplate coming/joining, take this with a grain of salt and weight out your pros and cons. And NO MATTER what gym you join or location take care of your gym, keep it clean, put the weights back, wipe the machines down and help keep things organized. The cleanup is part of the workout. I'm still gonna go to Avondale Crunch cause at the end of the day regardless of everything, we just gotta shut up and lift weights.

Negative experience: Watch out - this company is posting job advertisements and using it as a way to scam people into memberships. They were targeting my minor stepdaughter with this - this is really unethical and judging by the poor reviews this is a very unethical company.

Positive experience: Decent fitness center for the average Joe, but if you're a serious weight lifter/bodybuilder on vacation looking for a quick workout or two (like myself) I wouldn't recommend. Yes they dumbbells and some cable variations, but the other equipment is pretty awful.

Fantastic experience: Time and time again, I have been told that the ONLY way I would be able to cancel my membership is to come in person. So I've paid my monthly fee for years due to my lack of follow through and inability to go there in person (I'm disabled). So I decided to try again as I just can't keep paying. I sent 1 email to request assistance. As of today, 24 hrs later, my issue is resolved. I can't say enough how much relief this has given me. As I said, I'm disabled which is why I requested to end my membership. I used my membership for Fitness One Gym. They were a great organization. Gym was always very, very clean. Plenty of equipment. Most all of the staff was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable.

Positive experience: Definitely not like other gyms That’s for sure but ima keep going back though. It’s not as crowded as other gyms and everything is spaced out I love that it opens up at 4. I do like that males/females each have their own sauna. The cardio equipment is on point they have lots of treadmills different bikes and lots of stair masters. Usually a gym only has like 2 stair masters and you’re stuck waiting. lots of weights and squat racks along with cable areas. NOW why 3 stars first the cleanliness which are in most of these reviews is NOT like any other gym. Yea you’ll see a associate pick up a paper towel here or there but I don’t know if they have a crew that comes and clean or they do it themselves it’s just looks ehhh. Other gyms you see someone constantly walking around just wiping down equipment here not so much. Yes there’s spray and paper towels for you to clean it yourself as you should EVEN if it’s “already” been clean. They also have like a few hand sanitizer machines one in the locker room and by the front desk. I think some should be through out the gym. They also have classes out in the open where you can see them and hear them it is a bit of an awkwardness never seen some like that usually it’s in a room .

Positive experience: The gym floor is nice apart from it being a bit unorganized everyday. The bad part of the gym is the locker rooms. The bathroom part of it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks, smells absolutely awful and is stained with others waste… I like the gym itself but I could never use their restrooms because of how filthy it is…

Fantastic experience: The staff is amazing! Every time I go in to work out they always greet me at the door. I also am able to bring my 3 year old with me and put her in the childcare!!

Negative experience: Manager was judging me and told me I was to fat to be on the treadmill. I was told to leave after I broke the treadmill. :(

Fantastic experience: This place is a "no judgment zone" it was my first time coming here today to workout by myself, because I usually go with a friend but unfortunately I don't have friends out here yet. But I'm doing it for me so I don't really mind people in there and was just working out! Some people will help u if u ask them. So get out of your comfort zone.

Negative experience: Men’s restrooms always reek of urine and has puddles of it at anytime you go. Sauna has broken wood with exposed nails for the last few days. Treadmills sit with trash the whole time. Restroom sanitizers are empty 7 out of 10 times. Pros, newer gym equipment but poor hygienic management.

Positive experience: Only issue I have is there is one bench in the mens locker room, just one to fight over! For pete's sake just add another!

Positive experience: --edit to my original review-- I originally had a problem come up that involved previous management of this facility. However once a Mr. Prath Burton found out about the issue he informed me of a management change and quickly helped me resolve the problem. He seemed very professional and understanding. If this is the type of person that represents the Avondale location then I believe they would be a great place for anybodys business with the professional and welcoming attitude that was presented.

Fantastic experience: Love this Gym probably the best one i have been too especially the staff. Prath is an excellent manager. He goes above an beyond. He is professional, funny and kind making sure the members are getting what they pay for. He isn’t pushy about the membership or tries to talk you into unnecessary costs. He is honest, enthusiastic, and wants to make sure members are getting what they pay for. Bryce and Veronica are the best front desk people. Alway greet you by name, ask you how you’re doing. Most gyms once you sign up you’re just a gym member. The entire staff makes you feel like you’re part of the team. Appreciate these guys so much!! Thank you for all you do to make me want to come back everyday.

Fantastic experience: I like it, gym is gym. Its clean, employees are friendly, not too crowded in the morning. As long as there's machines available im good. The down part are the shower doors, ladies can see me naked and I'm just not too comfortable with that lol, I try to use long towels to cover up my door but it's keeps falling and I need it to dry myself but its already wet lol

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Crunch Avondale just about since they opened. I absolutely LOVE this gym, and it has only gotten better recently with the change in management. First off, Sabrina (trainer) is absolutely wonderful. She's professional, knowledgeable, and works hard to make sure everyone gets the workout that is best for them individually. Second, the staff is friendly and always helpful - for instance this morning I forgot a mask, and Michael (I think that was his name), after looking for one, offered me one from his personal supply. I'm moving and can no longer work out here, but I'm absolutely going to miss this place! Keep up the great work guys!

Negative experience: I keep getting billed for a personal training program I cancelled LAST YEAR. Manager has had to refund it before, I just got billed for Oct. ($160) and he can’t do anything about it.

Negative experience: THE WORST GYM I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. First the first time we went to work out they insisted my husband and I were not in the system AFTER we had just dropped money to join. had a loud zumba class or something out in the middle of the gym instead of inside the classroom so instead of being able to concentrate we had to listen to this woman on a microphone. We cut our workout short and left. Now I have been trying to cancel our memberships since APRIL! I followed the instructions IN THE CONTRACT THEY PROVIDED. All I've ever heard back is they didn't receive the certified letter which I sent per their instructions which is a lie. Now the manager isn't answering my emails. This is the most unprofessional chain gym I have EVER dealt with.

Negative experience: I’m having troubles with this gym. I cancelled my membership right before the pandemic hit and they said they cancelled it. Afterwards I got a paper in the mail saying they were waiting for my payment and so my mother and I went down to the gym to have it corrected and they CHARGED US the amount to cancel the membership. I didn’t think much of it until we got the paper again in the mail and they said it wasn’t their problem but that they made sure it was cancelled… now I got a paper in the mail that said I owe 296.16!!! I am very upset that they tell us one thing and do another. I need this to be clarified and not be charged for something that was not under my control.
