Negative experience: This gym is filthy. From the moment I started here it hasn’t gotten better. Dirt and dust everywhere, bathroom is typically missing toilet paper, hand soap or towels, the spray to wipe down the equipment is almost never filled or working. The same stains stay on the floors for weeks. I watched a piece of gum sit in a cup holder on one of their cardio machines for three months. Now they’ve installed these giant deadlifting pads (aka tripping hazards) and the entire gym is an overstuffed maze with 0 wall space to do certain work outs.

Hello, we are very sorry you do not like the new lay out and new equipment. We will keep an eye on it and make any needed changes, but we are hearing lots of very positive feedback on the new rigs. We will also make sure to do a better job in replacing the towels, spray bottles, etc., and will reach out to our cleaning company to make sure they are keeping up with the influx of members since the seasons have changed and there are more people coming into the club. Negative experience: If I could give less NO stars I would. This place is disgusting. For a gym that prides itself on getting people in to shape the staff sure are lazy. Weights all over the place almost none above 45lbs put away in the proper place. Very few of the members whip down their equipment after use. Dumbbells missing their rubber coating. Piss all on the locker room floors. I’ll be dammed if I get a staff infection in this place. Now I know what you’re thinking. It’s not the staffs fault they have spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down the equipment. Yes that’s true but they’re useless if the staff doesn’t refill the bottles and paper towels. Everytime I see an empty spray bottle I’m going to throw it in the trash. The staff needs to step up set a good example for its members by restocking and emptying the trash before they leave for the night. Holding its members accountable as well for not wiping down after usage.

Negative experience: I’ve had a very frustrating experience with Fitworks Rocky River. I’ve been wrongfully sent to collections due to a mix-up with another individual who shares my name. I’ve tried contacting management (M.anderson) multiple times but have been completely ignored. After speaking with corporate, it was confirmed that I am not the person in question, yet the issue remains unresolved. This has been a violation of my consumer rights, and I’m considering further action if this is not addressed promptly. Very disappointed with the lack of response and professionalism.

Positive experience: Nicely set up gym, but there is just not enough equipment for the amount of people that work out during busy times. It is impossible to find the right dumbbells let alone a bench to complete your workout. There are a total of 3 squat racks, 2 leg extension machines and 1 leg press that are guaranteed to be occupied. The last thing I want from a gym is to compromise and have to alter my workout.

Negative experience: I called to ask questions about the equipment, considering a membership. I called 5 times. Each time, someone answered and hung up. I'm joining Old School Iron, I wouldn't even consider this gym now, knowing they hire people like that.

Positive experience: Great gym overall. Lots of space, Open 24 hours. Would be 5 stars if they would turn on their AC in the summer! Wasn't as bad when the back door could stay open longer to get some fresh air, but now that they have to close it during unstaffed hours it gets so hot and muggy in there. Was talking to some other members, and they agreed. One stated the Parma Fitworks doesn't have this problem. Please consider cranking the AC up some more this upcoming summer.

Fantastic experience: I had a small billing issue (my fault) they addressed it quickly and went above and beyond to make it seem like it was their fault! Very professional staff ! In addition the facility is always clean and has all state of the art equipment. Highly recommend this gym

Negative experience: I spoke to the staff who said my membership had been cancelled. However, I was still charged with no notice at all about missed payments and they sold what I "owed" to debt collectors. I tried calling multiple times a day for days straight and nobody picked up the phone. Do not trust them unless you like being deceived and taken advantage of. They do not care about you.

Negative experience: I hate giving bad reviews and I will remove if this if it changes. However, I saw the response to other customers complaining about the same thing and I am afraid it won't. I joined this gym because my health insurance pays for it. The locker rooms and equiptment are always dirty. I just left the very clean YMCA for a really stinky gym. They need to hire more cleaning crew. I typically see one desk guy running around and doing everything.

Negative experience: I have been coming to fitworks for over 3 years and recently the Rocky River location has declined. The gym is constantly dirty, equipment is never put away and you can never find anything due to people leaving things randomly throughout the gym, you can’t wipe down equipment after use because the paper towels and cleaner are rarely refilled. The women’s locker room is extremely dirty and the first sink in the women’s locker room has been broken for well over a year. Usually 3-4 days out of the week the women’s restroom isn’t stocked with toilet paper. You also have men cleaning in the women’s locker room and women cleaning in the men’s locker room. I find it completely inappropriate to have males cleaning the women’s locker room especially when women are trying to shower, change, and use the restroom. It is extremely uncomfortable trying to use the restroom when you have males in there cleaning and they do not leave and give women privacy. There have also been multiple machines that have been broken for months. These machines are ones that people use on a daily basis and zero attempts have been made to fix them. It is very frustrating that time and effort has gone into the Fit+ room when you have had machines broken for months. - precor converging chest press - Aprox 8 weeks broken - Strive leg extension aprox 6 weeks broken - Matrix Stair master aprix since October 20th 2023 it has been broken - Precor FTS glide aprox 8 weeks broken - Treadmills precor aprox 2 weeks broken Membership fees have increased without warning members. In the past we would get an email notifying us of when we could expect an increase in membership fees but this past time there was no warning. I find this frustrating and inconsiderate to not notify members. Playland is often closed due to staff not being present, many members rely on playland to be open so they can workout only to find once they pack up their kid(s) and drive sometimes 10-20 minutes to the gym it is closed and now they have to drive all the way back home. It is very disappointing and frustrating to see a gym that was once wonderful place to workout now turning into a gym that most people do not want to go too anymore.

Negative experience: Fitworks is as unprofessional as a gym organization can be. Fitworks closed its downtown location with 3 days notice -- in between Christmas and New Years no less -- and is now making members come to one of its other locations in person in order to cancel memberships. Members were not given an opportunity to cancel their memberships amidst this closure and we were not sent any notice of this closure outside of a paper-notice being taped to the entrance door. Worse yet, Fitworks is also continuing to bill members for the month, despite closing its doors with virtually no notice of closure. Look for another gym option.

Negative experience: The ultimate yuppie gym. All of your money goes to their “cardio movie theatre” while we have to watch the weight machines disintegrate. Oh yeah, if you’re a blue collar working man be prepared to to get mean mugged and looked down on.

Negative experience: The staff is cordial, but the cardio theatre and the entire gym is too muggy for me to get through a workout. I keep reading reviews about new equipment, but I cannot seem to find one piece of cardio equipment that is not out dated. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and it’s unfortunate that the treadmills are worsening my condition.

Fantastic experience: Overall the staff is very friendly! Shouts out to Bella, Michael, Oronde and the team over there! The protein shakes are amazing (peanut butter cup is my favorite) and the outdoor turf space is great for training. Highly recommend this gym!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the Rocky River Fitworks for about 3 years now and it has made a positive impact on my fitness. My workout demands alot of space and the facility is the only one in Cleveland that fits my needs without joining a pricey Crossfit gym. But being stuck in the facility with Michael and Bella is absolutely a pleasure. Michael is on top of equipment upkeep and has given me a few pointers on some exercises that have become a staple in my routine. Bella always brightens my day with her own style of professional customer care. She has guided me through some administrative tasks, nutritional shakes and fitness testing. The girl that runs the classes is also awesome at her job and has helped me zero in on a few things that tweeked my workouts( didn't catch her name.) A-1 operation when other gyms have fallen into loser status during these times. Oh..and the temperature is always adjusted perfect! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Heath Butzer

Fantastic experience: Ive been a member of Fitworks for over a decade and cannot speak more highly of the Rocky River location. This location is extremely well run and has all the equipment one would need to get in a great workout. The manager, Michael Anderson, and his team are great. Bella McConkey, the person who runs the front desk, is always there with a smile and a kind word to greet you and will handle any problems or questions that come up. Whether you're just beginning your fitness journey or have been active for years, this is a great place to be a member. I highly recommend you come in and check it out for yourself.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Fitworks for nearly three years, and I have nothing but praises to say! There’s plenty of equipment and a great variety to train with. Fantastic experience: I've been working out at Fitworks for a couple of years and the staff have always been super friendly and helpful! The gym is always at a comfortable temperature and the staff are always willing to answer any questions and provide help when necessary. I recently started competing in natural bodybuilding under the direction of personal trainer Oronde. Oronde has been very helpful and has strived everyday to help motivate me and keep me on track. I've made tremendous progress and continue to make improvements everyday. Under Oronde's direction, I managed to lose 30 lbs in 13 weeks during prep for my first show. There were difficult times during prep when I wanted to cheat on my diet or give up, but Oronde kept me motivated and helped me push past my mental barriers. In the end, I managed to place four in my class and am now working to improve my weak points. Overall, I've had a fantastic experience at Fitworks and would highly recommend Oronde as a trainer!

Negative experience: AC is never on. Always muggy and overly smelly. Projector showing movies in cardio room is a cool idea but the screen is crooked and has been that way for at least 4 months. Lots of damaged dumbbells.

We are very sorry you think our facility is too hot. Our A/C is on during the summer and we turn the heat on when it get cooler. Fall weather in Cleveland is always hard to try to guess so we apologize if it has been hot, but cooler months are ahead! We will speak with the manager on fixing the the projector and also the damaged dumbbells. It would be helpful to tell a staff member to show them these issues so we know exactly what weight. However, we will relay this to the RR staff and get this taken care of ASAP. We appreciate your business!

Negative experience: Maybe the Dirtiest Gym I have ever been in. Weighs all over the place. Cleaners suck. Definitely have wipe down before using any Equipment

Fantastic experience: Michael and his team saved my butt today! I lost my cell phone in the gym, it fell between one of the free weight benchs and I totally forgot I was over there earlier. They watched the security footage, followed my movements, and helped jog my memory. Huge save as I was leaving for a week vacation that day and needed my phone. It is great when people go above and beyond to help others out! Really shows the difference between this team and other gyms.

Negative experience: The actual gym is okay, but their terms/policies are outrageous. As far as the contract, the only gym that's worse about nickel and diming you is Planet Fitness. For instance, this is how my cancellation process went: 1. December 6 - I called the front desk during normal business hours, the phone wasn't answered. I left a voicemail with my name and phone number. 2. December 8 - I continued to call the front desk a few times between 10:00am and 3:00pm, there wasn't any answer. My call was never returned from two days before. 3. December 9 - The phone was answered upon another call the next day, but I was told I'd have to come in-person to quit. 4. December 12 - I went in-person and was finally able to cancel. I was told my last payment date would be December 19 given the notice plus my payment cycle. 5. January 27 - I was charged a $105.85 "administrative fee." This is what I have a major issue with. I was already charged $107.89 on September 21 when I signed up in the first place. Why am I being forced to pay an administrative fee a month after I cancelled my membership? When I went in to ask about this and ask for a refund, I was refused. The staff member told me that the fee occurs once a year, regardless if you cancelled before the end of that one-year term. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they were on vacation for two weeks. Apparently there is only one manager. I was told I would receive a call-back when they returned. No one called me and I let it go because I could sense it was a losing battle. This entire scenario was absolutely outrageous. 6. February 15 - I was charged $71.92 for no reason. When I called the front desk, the staff member Alex answered and was very helpful. They did refund me and said it was an accident. However, if I hadn't caught the error I doubt they would've done anything. So, I wouldn't recommend this gym at all if you don't want to be charged left and right. Here are my detailed pros and cons: Cons: - The cleanliness is not up to standards. - The paper towel dispensers, hand sanitizer machines, and cleaning spray bottles are often empty at peak times. - The liquid cleaning solution in the bottles appear to be watered down (although I can't be sure). - I noticed people are allowed to talk on their phone/have loud conversations, even in the studios. - The women's sauna doesn't appear to be wiped down or cleaned underneath the benches. - As mentioned above, the policies are unfair and the sales people who sign you up for memberships omit a lot of pertinent information. Pros: - I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a machine to be available. - Even at peak times, I didn't find the gym to be overcrowded. - Each staff I've interacted with has been pleasant and friendly. - Many of the machines are new/updated. The different options for cardio, strength, and stretching was ideal. - The Cardio Theater is awesome and I liked the variety of the movie selection. - The group classes I attended were great. - The club manager (Michael) was professional and courteous towards me. Overall, if money isn't an issue for you and you're okay with subpar cleanliness (considering most gyms aren't as clean as they should be), you'll be fine. If you don't want to go broke trying to pay obscene fees and/or are bothered by lack of cleaning, I'd pass on getting a membership.

Positive experience: Update 7/12: Not sure what changed since leaving this review. But it is actually comfortable inside now. Fitworks tried to reach out once after I left the original review but they called while I was unavailable at work. If the gym is going to stay at this temp from here on out I have no more complaints about the gym. I'm bumping it up to 4 stars. It was a nice gym in the winter months. But as soon as it got warm out the gym has been very unpleasant to workout in. It's so warm inside. For what I'm paying a month you would think they would keep it cool inside. I filled out their form on the website complaining about it and so did my girlfriend but no one got back to us. A recent review also complained about the same thing and Fitworks responded saying they replaced the sensors or thermostats and it should be cooler inside. Well that's a lie as I haven't noticed any difference. But they sure do keep it nice and cool for themselves at the front desk.

Negative experience: I've never in my life been to a gym where they allow you to freely talk on your cell phone in any and every area of the gym. The staff member who was in charge at the time gave another member the green light to continue having a full blown conversation on their phone when we were both sharing the private studio, which I was already using first at that. That's fine if that's how you want to run your gym. But you certainly won't be getting any more business from me.

Negative experience: I went in today looking to become a member and check out the gym and amenities. I stood at the front desk for over 5 minutes waiting to be helped, and no one showed up. I left a little disappointed. I’m interested in finding a new gym with more to offer. Clearly this gym wasn’t interested. I was in during hours where there would be a person at the desk. After reading the reviews I’m glad no one came to help me. Needless to say I wont be returning to become a member.

Fantastic experience: Very nice gym. Great staff. Really good equipment. Has some areas to improve. Better ventilation. Cleaner bathroom (but I have yet to find a clean gym bathroom in Cleveland.) Still gets five stars because this place accommodates its customers and has great equipment along with a great staff. Most importantly it’s a very good atmosphere! So it’s gets 5 stars either because. Because if those 2 minor things don’t improve I still highly recommend this gym!

Negative experience: We have been with this gym for years. At some point after Covid general customer service went to the drain. Their CSA are so busy "selling" that they mislead you, or omit information, so you do not know what you do not know. We have been with this gym a total of 10-12 years, if not longer. We had a post Covid break and in 2022 paid annual promo up front: 12 months, 2 people. Not sure, because of lack training or simply because of being forgetful, young CSA did not mention to have cancellation on file. We had great medical paying years ago as we went, so our being longer timers, nobody bothered to explain specifics. It was pay as you go, and that plan made alot more $$$ for them. Fastforward 2023, we just saw several months of new charges and when we called to speak on 06.24. 2023 at 9:08 am, it was one of those "I do not give 2 cents about your problem attitude." We have a signature on file, not my problem. Honestly, not treatment I care to get after years of loyalty abd money paid to that place. There are plenty of gym venues around Rocky River with far better srrvice. Pick one, who treats you better & do not ever pre-pay 12 months. It is not worth it. The girl or boy who sell you something are likely long gone and you wake up one day to your bank account being drained. If before you felt it was a minor issue, now it is clear understanding that you want money spent where you are not an acceptable loss.

Fantastic experience: Fitworks staff have really made the place very clean and inviting. All the staff seem to love their jobs and make you feel comfortable and at ease. Today was the first day after switching gyms. I felt so welcomed and even though there were alot of people there because, it was President's Day. There was still no issues finding an open machine or bench. The equipment all works and there are so mant different kinds. My last gym was not on this level. The sauna was perfect after my workout. I'm just very thankful that I switched to Fitworks!

Negative experience: I love this place plenty of equipment and space. The bad part is the cleanliness is lacking. Dust hair and small debris all over the floor and equipment. The men’s locker room also smells funky but not as bad as the sauna it is disgusting and never gets cleaned even when they mop it they don’t clean under the benches. This place needs to hire a janitorial service. I’m also a member at Cleveland Fitness Club and they’re always cleaning there they even scrub&wipe every piece of equipment daily.

Fantastic experience: Fitworks Rocky River is as they describe themselves..."a relaxed, family-like atmosphere, a friendly team of fitness professionals, amazing group fitness classes, cardio and strength training equipment, free weights, personal training,..." I have not been disappointed yet. Really enjoy the group exercise classes especially those led by Tonya B. She does a great job and never disappoints. She's pretty funny too.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Fitworks in Rocky River since 2005, with a break from 2010-2011 because I had planned on moving. I have since returned and have been very happy. All classes are included in the cost of membership with the exception of maybe one or two and even the cost of those classes are anything but high. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful and the instructors are very knowledgable. Sure there are those members that do not wipe the machines when they are finished or put things away, however the staff cannot police the facility 24/7. The manager, Max, has always been friendly and helpful and is willing to answer any questions I have. I have recommended Fitworks to all of my friends and coworkers in the area and will continue to do so.

Fantastic experience: I have been an active member of Fitworks for nearly 10 years. The entire staff is friendly, insightful and practice what they preach. Cardio equipment is located in two cinema rooms and on the main floor, if you’re looking to watch sports or a movie while sweating. I prefer the classroom setting, and take instructor led Kickboxing, Spinning, and Dance Fusion weekly to challenge my routine. Kettlebell and TRX Suspension training classes are also offered. I didn’t think it was possible for my face to actually shake during a workout, but try a TRX class and your face might quiver too! In addition, I train with a personal trainer during the week. While I met my weight goal, I am always looking for new exercises and tests to build strength and stay tone. I recommend trying out a session with a trainer. There’s plenty of equipment to go around as well. With nearly 3 of every machine, there’s hardly a wait.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Fitworks with my daughter for about a year. Before joining Fitworks, I was a member at another club for 20 years. Exercise and fitness have always been important and enjoyable for me. A friend of mine told me about an amazing spinning teacher at Fitworks named Tonya Banzhaf. I took Tonya's spin class and instantly decided to join Fitworks, and I signed my daughter up as well! Tonya Banzhaf's spin class gives me the best workout of my life! She is motivating, inspiring, driven, and pushes us to achieve even more than what we believed that we could! You can always count on Tonya to give you an ultimate workout!

Fantastic experience: I am probably one of the youngest members of Fitworks. My mom and I have been going together for almost a year. Before I joined Fitworks, I absolutely hated exercising. After taking Tonya Banzhaf's spinning class, I became addicted to spinning! She has motivated and inspired me to continue to workout and take care of my body. I never knew I could have so much fun covered in sweat in Tonya's hardcore spin class! I recently started going to Loretta O'Callaghan's amazing muscle conditioning class. Loretta gives us an extreme workout, while smiling! She always has a positive outlook, which motivates and drives me to push myself to my full potential. I would like to personally thank both Tonya and Loretta for helping me to enjoy working out. I now see the value and the fun in exercising.

Fantastic experience: Rocky River fitworks is truly a great place to work out. The staff is amazing and they go over and beyond to make you feel like your a guest in their home. I love the spin classes as well as the instructors who teach them, they push you and help you reach goals. Dave to point out one, his classes are very exhilarating. He pushes you to the max and tests your endurance and strength, making you feel great afterwards. And Tonya the MADD HOUSE! She is a non-stop working machine. She not only teaches spin classes she does boot-camp and other things to maximize every bit of your potential to get in shape and to make sure you stay that way if your dedicated. Kelly, Sarah and Lauren are also great at giving you a great workout as well and they all look and make you feel great no matter what when they are on stage teaching. Thanks fitworks for always making my experience when I'm there one that keeps me motivated, focused and determined to reach my goals and stick to them.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Fitworks for over 5 years. It was not until I came to the Rocky River location was I really able to get the workout I was looking for. Working with Tonya Banzhaf has brought me to the level I always knew existed in myself but was never able to get to on my own. Her Spin classes are amazing! I always leave wanting more and looking forward to another session. She also offers weight training and TRX boot camp sessions that are guaranteed to put your body in the best shape of your life. I totally recommend anyone looking to get in shape for bikini season going to visit Tonja at Rocky River ASAP!

Fantastic experience: The guy at the front with long brown hair was so incredibly nice and welcoming!!!! He was on top of his game getting me signed up, on top of making people smoothies, and appeared to be training. (A girl who was a little worrisome thin.) He gave me a tour and even asked if I was comfortable. Then when I was in the sauna he changed the paper towels, you have a great employee on board.

Locker rooms are clean, have showers and sauna, equipment is new and functions well, various classes available to take, daycare, and my favorite, they have a cardio movie theater! Friendly and helpful staff, definitely recommend! Will never go back to planet fitness or rocky river rec.

Negative experience: Please clean your mens locker room. The consistency a dozen bugs flying around the scum coated shower stalls. Needs an actual scrub down cleaning UPDATE: its been 3 months and nothing has been done, there still scum and flys … but now there’s a nest of little worms in the far right shower stall. The mens locker room smelled extremely bad today (not bathroom related) not sure its related to the bathroom or worms. I get its a mens locker room so my standards are low but … gross… I have to admit i think I’m going to start looking for another gym

Fantastic experience: I've really loved this gym over the past month or two. Lee is a fantastic trainer, and doing the nutrition meetings with Maureen finally has me getting results after a year or two of being stuck. The group classes I've been to were also very fun.

Negative experience: The cleanliness and sanitary state of the men's locker room and the sauna is repulsive. I have belonged to this gym for a long time, and I don't think in my time belonging to this gym that the shower floors in the men's locker room have ever been cleaned. Along with that, the sauna is also in desperate need of a clean as well as the floors are brown and dirty from the sweaty feet of other gym goers. The gym itself, I have zero complaints about. But if you are going to hold members accountable to clean the machines and equipment after use - and also charge a yearly "maintenance fee", you would think the staff could clean up themselves.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member at Fitworks for over 20 years and sadly I went in today to cancel my membership as I have started a home regimen which is a better fit for me right now. Fantastic experience: The best Fitworks location in my opinion, based on equipment selection. Wide variety and they have some pretty unique, harder to find pieces, like the hack squat variations and the back pull over machine! Also love how big the space is and how spread out everything is.
