Users have praised the fantastic staff who are friendly, helpful, and dedicated to creating a welcoming atmosphere. Families particularly love the kids' area, which features exciting climbing walls, a slide, and a play space, making it an ideal venue for birthday parties.

Many climbers appreciate the clean and spacious environment and enjoy the frequent updates to the climbing routes, which keep the experience fresh and exciting.
While visitors have enjoyed their experiences, there have been some concerns. Active Climbing - Indoor Rock Climbing and Ninja Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: We had our daughter’s fifth birthday party here… a handful of her friends came and the staff was there to help them into a harness if they wanted to climb… and they all did! The entire party/kids area is so awesome and the perfect place to let your kids run around and get energy out for a couple of hours. There is an awesome slide and a swing up top along with small rock climbing walls/areas for everyone. The facility is clean and the staff is patient and fun…. Thank you so much, Active Climb!
Thank you Amanda for your kindest feedback! We are thrilled to know your daughter had a great time here and we for sure we’ll let our team know about your experience. We appreciate you very, very much!
Fantastic experience: This place offers a wide variety of climbing options and related activities. The fantastic staff is a big bonus, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Thanks Froude for your visit and more so for your kind words. We hope you’ll find us the same, if not better, next time you choose to climb with us. Enjoy your summer!
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, excellent routes, and we’ve never had an issue getting help when we’ve asked for it. We became members and, despite living 45 minutes away, try to get there weekly!
Hi Peter! Thanks for your support and commitment and we are so glad to have you be part of our community. See you soon and keep climbing!
Fantastic experience: This place is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Most of the climbers are awesome people as well. They contain the kids' birthday parties in one room so the adults can climb in the other areas without issue. Very thoughtful.
Hi Shanice, We are glad you find us! We really try to make everyone feel welcomed and keep this place clean as much as we can. That kids room has been a great place to keep the little monsters happy while adults have their place to enjoy as well. Thank you for your kind words!
Fantastic experience: Lots of fun for everyone and very clean
Thanks T! We are happy you came and climbed with us. See you soon!
Negative experience: I'm sure it's a nice place, but my experience was awful. 2 members of the staff checked us in and told us one thing.. then suddenly another staff member comes over very unprofessionally fussing at us. When I explained my confusion, she told me that I was lying and that the 2 guys up front DID tell me what they definitely DIDNT. Awful awful awful. I understand they are there to keep people safe, but CHECK YOUR CAMERAS AND TELL ME AGAIN THAT I'M WRONG. THANKS. This was 2 years ago and I have still not forgotten. Terrible place. Train your staff better. I've never had a problem following rules that are given.... but if you don't TELL me the rules.. I OBVIOUSLY CAN'T FOLLOW THEM. Then to run over yelling and treating me poorly, accusing me of lying. Completely unacceptable. Wrong of you to assume I just blatantly didn't follow instructions. It was YOUR STAFF that failed to inform me and I deserve an apology for the way I was treated. AND owner's responses to previous reviews are ALSO wildly unprofessional and off-base. You should be embarrassed. I want to be contacted about this because it needs further discussion. Reply: Check your cameras AGAIN. You're wrong. I'm always happy to be kept safe. That is not and never was my complaint. My complaint is being treated as if I'm a criminal or something. Abysmal behavior on your part AND your employee's.
Hi Jennifer, We have thousands of folks walking through these doors and safety will be our number one priority. Climbing is a dangerous sport. We do maintain our position and I will not sugar coat any answers just to make folks happy. We do our internal investigation before answering any questions/ reviews. The fact that our manager ran and jumped to save your child from a potential fall due to your improper handling, is what is most important to us. Respectfully, Adrian P. Owner
Positive experience: Excellent pads underneath the bouldering walls, regularly change up the routes, and lots of other workout equipment and activities to participate in. Have never had issues with most of the crew. My biggest complaint is having tried to come in a handful of times and they didn’t have shoes available for me or my wife. Given that we pay for the monthly membership which includes shoes and harnesses, I don’t think I’m unreasonable in having the expectation that the appropriate equipment will be available during the timeframes we have to come in.
Thanks Malik for your kind words and continue support. We have a quite big fleet of rental equipment and it has always been on first come, first serve basis. We always encourage our members to buy their own equipment, since the gear we have as rental is basic. Some advanced shoes will for sure make a difference, if you climbed for a while. We appreciate your feedback. See you soon!
Fantastic experience: Active Climbing is a fantastic environment to feel welcomed and to have fun. Gracie and Seth instantly made me feel at home and gave me the tools I needed to become confident in my climbing skills. I highly recommend making a visit if you’re in the fence. You won’t regret it!
Thanks Lucas! We are so glad to hear about your experience here. We’ll let Gracie and Seth know and we hope to see you back in here soon. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: I went to a birthday party where Steph and Logan were the supporting staff. They did an amazing job and were so professional! They made the kids feel comfortable climbing. We will absolutely be back
Thanks Romeo for having your party here with us! More so happy to hear about our staff Steph and Logan performance. We’ll for sure let them know about your kind words. See you soon!
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff! Great place to spend a few hours burning some calories.
Thanks Jeff! Very kind of you. Keep on climbing and we’ll see you soon!
Positive experience: Good climbing walls and equipment, clean facility, good atmosphere. I had a lot of fun with my kids here helping them climb and they enjoyed the experience. I wish the communication around the signup and open house/tryouts for the youth climbing club had been better.
Hi Christina, We appreciate your feedback and we are well aware of all this. We work hard on getting all the details, for all the programs, in time, but sometimes we don’t have all the information/details necessary, which causes delays on our end. We are apologizing for any inconvenience we may have caused you. We hope this coming school year, we’ll have all the details clarified ahead of time. Thanks again for your feedback!
Fantastic experience: They got good bouldering climbs. It’s also well lit which I appreciate compared to other climbing gyms
Thanks Omar for your positive feedback and we’ll promise to keep it lit as much as possible! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Great routes
Thanks Reece! We’ll let the crew know. I’m sure they will love to hear it. See you soon!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym for both the new and experienced climber!
Thanks John, we are so grateful to have you here and we really appreciate your feedback. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: This is going to be a hard review for me to write. I love this gym. I found my passion here and will forever be a changed person because of the influence of the staff and climbing community. I have been a member of the gym for 4 years at this point. I have seen it's ups and downs, but the staff and owner have made sure that it's members and patrons always come first. I will be moving to Indiana in the coming months and the gym will no longer be my home away from home, though it will forever hold a place in my heart. I will be back in any chance I get in the future and I look forward to seeing it get better and better over time. Love you guys. -Cameron-
Hi Cameron! We are sorry we just now responding to this touching review. Please rest assured that your words really went to our hearts and we are so happy to have you here with us along the way. Your support and love it’s what makes this gym what it is today. This is just as hard to respond to, but you know you’ll always have the door open if ever back here. Much love from all of us! Sincerely, Adrian and the entire Team Active Staff
Fantastic experience: Just realized I never left a review, even though I've been a member here from 2017-2020, and now a returning member as 2023. The staff here is incredible! Adrian, the owner, and every manager and employee is extremely kind and knowledgable in their field. I have made many friends at this gym, and it's got to be the best gym around. I highly recommend Active Climbing!
Thanks Joshua! Welcome back! We are sooo glad to hear from a member that’s been with us for so long. Beers on me next time I see ya! Sincerely, Adrian
Fantastic experience: Great gym! Plenty of room and wall space. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be back for sure!
Thanks Chad! We are glad you found us and looking forward to have you climb with us soon!
Negative experience: The place itself is great! The staff is could be better. I'm a Combat Vet Marine but I acted like I had never repelled or anything before and the instructions I received were TERRIBLE. But they were still nice!! The employee took some pretty bad pictures so I asked him if I could take it and he said yes. Sure it's against the rules but hey, I don't work there! ♂️
Hi Jade, Thank you for your service! We are glad you came and repelled with us or as we’ll call it here, belaying. Rappelling is when you descend from a face of a cliff or in our case, a top of the wall. Although the training you had received may be a bit different than ours here, we go through intensive training to make sure our customers, including yourself, are safe in using the gym equipment while here. Taking selfies while belaying/holding the ropes for someone is something we for sure don’t teach here. But we are glad you came and had a good time. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved the party room for our girls birthday. The staff was so helpful and the private climbing area was a hit. The adults were able to watch the kids climbing and there was even an area for the little kids who weren't able to climb the walls plus a play area while they waited to climb. Highly recommend this venue for a party!
Thanks Jennifer! That party room was designed with the little ones in mind and we are so glad you came and experienced that. We’ll pass your kind words to our staff and I’m sure they will be just as happy as we are to know you loved it! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Had a ton of fun here with friends, it's a very nice facility and staff were very helpful.
Thanks Thomas! So glad you guys enjoyed your time here. We are thankful for your support and kind words. See you next time!
Fantastic experience: Great friendly place with lots of options.
Thanks Jeremy! We are glad you came and had a good time. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: We have a family pass for this Gym and it gets used more than our fitness gym membership ever did! The whole family loves going together and the teens like meetings friends there. I do wish there were a few more auto belays there.
We are so happy to know your family like it here! We are trying to figure out the auto belays stations and see what’s the best fit for the gym. Just added the weight station in the Ninja room and planning on adding as we go. We appreciate your support and love! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: This place was wonderful! We went for a kids party. The staff was great but I want to specifically point out one member that I thought went above and beyond. Bree was one of the coaches and I’m blown away with how amazing she was with the younger kids. She was top notch and exactly the type of person that should be working with kids. I absolutely loved the way she helped and talked to the kids and the way she tried to help the ones that struggled. I can’t recommend this place any more!
Thanks Andrea! Bree will be so thrilled to hear about all this. She’s really a great coach! We appreciate you taking your time to share your experience here with us!
Fantastic experience: My 7 year olds birthday party was amazing. Super cool place and all the kids had a great time.
Thanks Rich for having your kiddos party here with us and more so that the kids has a great experience! See you soon!
Fantastic experience: Great community, friendly staff, fun/challenging, frequently changed routes. Not much more to ask for!
Thanks Sam! Chris and the crew really put their heart into it and it shows. We appreciate you very much!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful gym with plenty of climbs with a variety of levels of climbing for all. Staff are amazingly friendly and personable. We were at an event held at the gym last night and am blown away by what they do for the community. Highly recommended
So grateful for folks like you that makes our work well worth it! We hope to see you at the next events we’ll host here and have just as much fun! Cheers!
Positive experience: I have been climbing at Active for almost two years. I really love the gym and the staff, they make it welcoming, fun and a chill environment. However, as of late, the setting has gone WAY down hill. I have been climbing 5.9s and some 5.10s and 5.11s lately and similar ratings outdoors. Now at the gym, there are several 5.8s I cannot send, and many of the routes are just not enjoyable anymore. Everything is way harder than the routes are rated at. I am considering canceling my membership and just buying a punch pass because I don't want to pay such a steep price for a monthly membership when nicer gyms are cheaper and the routes just aren't even that fun anymore. I will be speaking to the gym manager in person also to let them know my experience. EDITED*** I just wanted to reply to my previous review and say that I had the chance to talk with the manager today in person for awhile. We had a really great and encouraging conversation, they have already taken action to see more input from climbers at the gym to change their setting as they can to accommodate their climbers' needs. Thank you for taking time and energy to make the gym a great community, which is my favorite thing about Active. I will continue to be a part of the Active community in some way, shape or form. I appreciate the staff working hard to always improve the gym and taking time to discuss things in depth and seek solutions.
Hi Samantha, First I want to thank you for your input and for being an avid member with us. We are glad to read that you appreciate our staff and the environment here at Active. We saw your review on June 10th and we were hoping you’d stop by the front desk to talk with our staff. It looks like you’ve been to the gym several times since then but didn’t get a chance to talk with anyone about this matter, so we’ll try and address it here. As I stated in previous responses, we strive to have everyone love the gym as much as we do. Grades for routes set indoors is much different than grades decided for real rock in the great outdoors. With how subjective this topic is, it will forever be a debate for the ages. Despite this, we do have our setters trying to bring the two worlds together, and they do their best to be as realistic as possible when comparing the two. And not only do they set with the outdoors in mind, they are also trying to set with how the sport is evolving with bigger, flashier, and more technical/coordinated moves. Some gyms have softer ratings and some have stiffer ratings. Same when it comes to different climbing regions and their ratings. Not all setting styles fit your/our styles, and since nobody is perfect no set route will be perfect either. I know you had a few close friends who used to set here part time a few months ago, and you enjoyed their style of setting. Since then we’ve switched gears to have full time qualified setters that can set consistently, reliably, and more easily cater to the gyms needs. Our Head Setter has set for several USA Climbing competitions, has more than half a decade of setting experience, and has a lot of familiarity with both indoors and outdoors. I have talked to them since reading your comments and they said they will alter the setting and the grades to cater to the needs of the gym and everyone who climbs here. Though, we do feel that our core members have gotten stronger since we opened six years ago, and that we should push our setting to challenge their ability/style/technique on some of our walls. We had a shirt made for a competition which we hosted that said “Train inside, climb outside”. Since you have experienced both, you can probably understand it all much better than most people that come in for the first time and look at the ratings on the walls like a spaceship landing from Mars with all the numbers, colors, and shapes plastered all over it. We know our prices are pretty comparable to every other gym in the region. If you feel that unhappy here, you are welcome to join other gyms and cancel your membership with us anytime given our cancellation process is very forgiving compared to most businesses. We will always continue to improve, and create a safe and fun environment for everyone that walks through our doors. Any suggestions and comments from our community will be seriously taken into account and we will work to fix issues as they arise. Sincerely, Adrian - owner
Fantastic experience: Great place, awesome facility! You can tell everyone staffed here is really passionate about all things climbing and helping others to enjoy the sport safely. Take the belay course seriously and listen to the team on their how-to's and you're guaranteed a great time! Can't recommend Active Climbing enough if you're looking for something extremely fun and different in Augusta.
Thanks Kevin for your kind words and we are glad you appreciate the things we try do here. We hope to see you back in here soon. Cheers!
Negative experience: This is my third time at Active Climb, and unfortunately the worst. . I had such fond memories that even though I have since moved to Columbia, I decided to bring my daughter and s/o to enjoy.. What a mistake that was (and what a difference a year makes).. the staff were completely unsure on almost every step of the check in -- but that's okay, maybe they're new.. so after reminding the associate we need harnesses and repeating that it isn't our first time at least three times.. they told us we were ready to go. HOWEVER, when I attempted to belay my daughter.. we were approached rudely and completely unprofessionally by a female staff member. She mistakingly claimed we were told we were not allowed not belay without a "check out".. this was news to me and when we tried to correct her blatantly incorrect assumption (that we were told), she interrupted saying we were recorded -- I would really love to watch that tape, as I'm 110% the staff member who needed to be reminded we needed harnesses failed to tell us we couldn't belay without a 2 minute tutorial. Here's the thing: I'm all for safety and following the rules.. when they are explicitly given. I'm not for blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism. If I'm paying world class prices, I expect world class service. Two stars cause we enjoyed ourselves DESPITE the service, not because of it. Edit/response: If safety is indeed a priority, I wouldn't charge an additional fee for first timers to my establishment to learn about how to safely use the products and services I'm offering. That seems like profiting not prioritizing If being viligantly watched, the manager (w/ background/training) should have been able to see my daughter one ft off the ground when she decided to act ("free fall" referenced). We had belayed before that without incident. Now, I do appreciate the concern, but again did not appreciate the unprofessional and rude manner.. which is now even further emphasized because of her training. I am glad, however, that there will be less ambiguity regarding the check in process. I look forward to continuing this discussion offline. Just wanted to clarify for those following.
Hi Carlos, Thanks for sharing your experience here with us and rest assure we take it seriously as we tried to make sense of what happened. We follow safety protocols and our team of managers and staff are always on making sure everyone has a good time while being safe. We have experienced climbers that still need to be reminded about the safety rules we have in place. While most appreciate the advice, some get offended thinking they know it all and don’t need reminders. That’s when/why accidents happens. After a debrief from the manager/staff that have been in contact with you, I’m being told that you were told you could only use the auto belays until one of the staff could recheck your belaying skills. You did not hear that, sounds like, and decided to go ahead and belay your kid, as this wasn’t your first time here. When our manager, the lady that came running to you (also an EMT and first responder) saw that you had the kid at the top of the wall about to free fall, your belay device was upside down, pulling on the lever all the way (basically bypassing the safety device), not even clipped into the belay loop, lots of slack in the system (rope wasn’t tight at all), of course she was in the panic mode and may have raised her voice as this is as serious as it gets. You should be thankful she was there to save your child from some serious injuries. Not sure I would have reacted differently. After this incident, we will enforce even more so our safety protocols and make folks wait in the check in area, before they will be allowed to get on the wall. We will be glad to refund your money for the trouble you had experienced here and know you are welcome to come back, but will need to go through the recheck process again before being allowed to belay someone. Safety will always be our number one priority. Adrian Prelipceanu Owner - Active Climbing
Fantastic experience: The bouldering here is awesome. So glad we have a climbing gym in Augusta. I love the PRIDE flag hanging in the gym. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: The bouldering here is awesome. So glad we have a climbing gym in Augusta. I love the PRIDE flag hanging in the gym. Thank you.
Thanks Jim! We glad to have you here as well! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Love coming to this place to boulder. The problems are always adventurous and challenging.
Thanks Jaime! Our crew is always brewing problems in their mind and clearly they got the recipe you were looking for. I know they keep experimenting, so be prepared for the next batch. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Outstanding climbing options and other “ninja warrior” type equipment! Staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. My girls (11 & 15) really enjoyed it!
Fantastic experience: My son and his scout troop had an amazing sleepover at Active Climbing. They played ping pong, Foursquare, and of course lots of climbing. My son loved it so much that he wouldn't shut up about it for a month. He can't wait to go back again. This is the only indoor climbing facility in the CSRA. It has really friendly staff that know exactly what they're doing and keeps everyone safe. You can buy a daily pass but if you're going to go often enough just buy the monthly. And if the whole family loves it go ahead and get a family package because they're going to love it.
Thanks Jonah for your lovely review and more so for your support. We really enjoyed having you guys here and we are glad to know we are a place your son feels comfortable and welcomed. Our staff will be extremely happy to hear about all this! We look forward to have you, your son and your troop back in here soon! Many thanks again!
Fantastic experience: The employees at Active Climb showed me how to have grit and how to push myself to the limit...I will start going to Active Climb much more than usual
Thanks Isaac! So glad to hear about your experience! See you soon. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: We are new to the area and were looking for a new activity for the family to do and we are very happy we found this place! We had an amazing experience at this gym! The kids loved the kids room and the kids cave. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they showed us around the gym and told us about all the different types of climbing and how to safely do them. The whole family had an amazing time and their prices were really good. They offer kids discounts and for our smallest one it was only $5! We had a great time and will definitely be back!
Hi Angela, Thanks for sharing your experience here with us! We are glad to hear your family had a great time and we hope to see you back soon. Best and happiest of holidays to you and your loved ones!
Positive experience: For a gym that seems to be welcoming to little humans, the holds on the 5.6's and 5.7's are entirely too far apart. Adults can eliminate holds. Little ones cannot be taller. The kids had fun - on the slide. ♂️ It is also pretty dangerous. I was not belay tested, the top ropes are not wrapped up top, there's no one teaching how to fall off boulders, and no one watching to make sure belays are done safely. Seems more like a novelty gym to get in on that dough than a passion project by climbers. The staff is great, but I won't bring them back to this gym, though I really want to get them into climbing. They'd have more and safer fun at the trampoline park. :/
Hi Casey, Thanks for climbing here with us and more so for your observations. We take those very seriously since we strive to offer the best experience regardless the age or physical abilities. Our setters try to offer challenging routes and sometimes they forget how the little ones climb. I wished they had kids like you and me and then they will be more aware of the struggle the little ones have by not reaching the holds. We constantly remind them about this, and I’ll make sure to stress this issue to them. Our staff are pretty attentive when it comes to belaying and safety, and I’m surprised to hear about your experience. About the ropes not being wrapped up at the top, we have our reasoning for that and every gym does it differently. If you ever climbed outside, none of the ropes are double wrapped at the top. The main risk by doing that is that the ropes can double cross each other and severe cut one another. If you need an extra weight to hold you down, we, as many other gyms, offer sand/weight bags that can help you manage the weight difference if one. Another reason for not double wrapping the ropes is that the really young ones, like yours, will get stuck since there is way too much friction at the top. We used to have the ropes double wrapped when we first open 6 years ago, and we had to climb up and pull the kiddos down because they where too light. I’m glad to hear that the staff was great, and I’ll make sure we pass all your concerns expressed in your review, to make sure we improve every single day. Sincerely, Adrian P. - owner
Fantastic experience: Love this place so much. All of the staff are helpful, super friendly and very welcoming. I've been going here a couple days a week for about 4-5 months now(member 4 months) and it's my favorite place to be. The community of climbers are all supportive and welcoming as well. Boulders are changed often enough to not be bored but long enough to drill a hard project. Shout out to the route setters for setting these great problems too! Love all the work you all do! Though it's an hour and a half drive from where I live, it's well worth the drive. So if you were ever to open a gym in SC, that would be amazing lol. Can't wait to see what new things and new people yall bring to the gym! I hope you and all the staff the very best in everything you do!
Hi David, we love to know that you became part of our Active family. We strive to keep everything fresh, the routes challenging and the atmosphere relaxed and homie. For sure we’ll pass your kind words to our setters and they will be happy to hear it, I’m sure. We appreciate your support and commitment, quite a hike you got, but we’ll hope to make it worth your drive every single time. We will see you very soon. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Great place excellent staff, always kind and helpful.
We appreciate you coming and more so leaving us this nice review. We do hope to see you again. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Love coming and bringing my daughter. She's not very confident but it's a very calm atmosphere for her to learn in. The people at the desk are usually really nice and very helpful. They have one room that kids can play around in to build their confidence. It's even got a horizontal climbing wall! The ninja area is also a hit with the kids to see what challenges they can accomplish! Found out today they even have kid camps during the summer! Great place to learn to climb!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Our staff loves seeing things like this!
Fantastic experience: This is my super awesome home gym!
Fantastic experience: We decided to come here for our daughter's birthday. This was our first time climbing, Chris and Bri welcomed us warmly; their fun and energetic spirit allow for us to be at ease and they answered all questions and concerns. Chris was an excellent instructor. We don't mind driving 2 hrs for exceptional service and an amazing time. We will be back soon.
Thank you so much for this awesome review! Chris and Bri were so excited to read this review and hear how much fun you guys had!!!
Fantastic experience: Had a birthday party for 10 year old! The staff was great with the kids ! We absolutely enjoyed it!
Thanks so much! The staff loves reading these!! Glad you guys had a good time!
Fantastic experience: Been comming here for the past year and a half. The staff is the nicest youll ever see. The facility is always very clean and maintained. If you have ever thought of getting into climbing this is the place to be!
Thanks so much Seth!! The staff loves to read these!!!!
Fantastic experience: Our Army unit visited Active Climbing as a Warrior Adventure Quest activity. It was my first time ever rock climbing and it has been by FAR my favorite unit morale day. The belaying class was very helpful, and the large variety of walls and boulders were fantastic. It is seriously addictive. I am already excited to plan my next trip!
Thanks Rachel for coming and more so finding what we are all about. Usually, first time, it is the hardest, since you just figure out the “system”, but then you get to do more, once familiar with our set up. We hope to see you soon!
Fantastic experience: Fun climbing gym. We are from Chattanooga and regurally go to High Point up there, but we were in town visiting family and needed to get a work out in. Great rates, and some fun climbs. Very different from our "home gym" but different isn't always a bad thing. Note that there are no auto belay devices here, so be sure if you are wanting to do tip rope climbing instead of bouldering you need to bring a climbing partner. Great experience overall, probably going back tomorrow. :)
We just now get to respond to this, but we are happy to get feedback, especially from folks from other gyms. We always strive to improve and glad to hear we are doing something right. Hopefully, next time, will be even better. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Great place for all skill levels and ages. Definitely worth the trip!
Thanks Steve, we are glad you made the trip here!
Fantastic experience: I was in town for a few days and decided to check out active climbing. Cassidy at reception was super helpful and nice. The bouldering problems are all interesting and fun to try. Wish I had more time in town to go back!
We are happy you came and tried our facility. Thank you for your kind review!
Fantastic experience: AMAZING PLACE!! Me and my boyfriend drove an hour to rock climb and it was definitely worth it! Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful at all times!
Hi Morgan! We are so glad you did the drive and got to discover our spot here. Our staff will be so happy to hear about your experience! We hope to see you in the near future! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: What an amazing gym! The instructors were friendly and informative. Super easy for first time climbers to get setup. Will go back for sure!
Thank you Ryan for coming and more so for sharing your experience with us. We are looking forward to a new year here and we hope to see you soon!
Fantastic experience: We love active climbing!! Professional staff, clean facility, and they are always changing the walls to keep it new and interesting.
Thanks Bess! We are so glad to know we are on the right track. Our staff will be delighted to hear it! We appreciate your support very much!
Fantastic experience: My son had his birthday party here and the staff was EXCELLENT!! Chris and Brie were fabulous with all the kids and had just as much fun as the kiddos. I love to see employees who love what they do to help the kids enjoy their visit. Hats off to them!!! We highly recommended this establishment.
We are really grateful for everything. The fact that you chose our place to host your son’s party, the kind words about Chris and Bree, all of these things make us keep on climbing to new heights. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic! So much fun, the staff is incredible. So glad this is available.
Thank you Tom! We are very thankful for your kind words and that you found us!
Fantastic experience: My friend and I stopped in here for a first time try. The staff was very friendly and answered all questions. The price of $25 for a first time visit, which included a day-pass, all gear, and a belay class, and tour of the gym- I found to be really great. For a Saturday, late afternoon, it didn't seem to be too busy and we were able to walk around and check out the walls as we desired. There was definitely a range of talent and experience in the gym, mainly in the bouldering area, but everyone was in their own "zone" and working hard. We didn't feel out of place or judged. We will definitely be going back.
Thank you Ashley for coming and we are so happy to hear about your nice experience. We are looking forward to your next visit and don’t forget to mention to us that you took the belay class and we’ll be happy to give you a quick refresh on everything.
Fantastic experience: I havent climb for a while and i found this place just few minutes from my house. Feels so lucky. The place has plenty of amenities to enjoy. The staff are super attentive and friendly. We had the belaying class. Instructor are knowledgeable. The place is highly recommended especially for kids. Its a family friendly place. Price is reasonable it includes shoe rental and class. Also they have some shoes and other climbing stuff for sale. Will come back again soon.
We are lucky you discovered us! Thank you for your kind words and we appreciate sharing your experience for others to see. We are always looking to improve and create an great atmosphere for everybody to enjoy. Looking forward to your next visit!
Fantastic experience: We drove two hours to get there and pretty much had the place to ourselves. There was only a handful of other folks there. Allen (Alan?) brought us in, helped us fill out our paperwork and fitted us with our harnesses and shoes. A few minutes of a belay class later and the kids were off to the walls. We stayed about two hours, and had a blast. Employees like Allen (Alan?) deserve a raise. He was the only one there on his day off, and allowed us to come in since we drove from so far. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.
Thanks Jason! We appreciate you driving all this way. And for sure Allen is one of our best all around staff here. And a raise was awarded to him as well :) Thanks!
Negative experience: The setting is good. The staff is friendly. The place seems to be geared towards children. If you live there you may as well climb there. General: The walls are painted slick and don't promote unique beta as you could create outdoors and at any other competition. The rope wall is only 30 feet to the ceiling. The air conditioning either doesn't exist or probably isn't powerful enough to have much impact on the building space. At least for the competition day the climate was sweaty. Their day pass and membership rates are high and about equal with that of a high-end gym. Management of the USA southeast collegiate regionals competition is repeatedly poor. Two years in a row they misread the rule book, if they read it at all, and at least one instance even on the exact same issue: number of attempts allowed per speed climb (supposed to be one). Also the speed climb scores of the harder speed route appear to have had no bearing as the easier route time is the only published one (unless only the harder one was attempted). The hardest setting was below the capabilities of numerous of the competitors. The allowed climbing time was misread at the beginning and changed in the middle of the competition. Not just a few but dozens of climbers' scores were entered incorrectly and medals were awarded to the incorrect competitors (later adjusted afterwards online). The announcments were shouted without electronic aid while the music still played and were difficult to hear. It appears that the problems/routes already existed before the recent competition and were just re-labeled. They told competitors one of the two required signatures for each route scored could be their own signature, which seems pointless. The chief judge said in the pre-comp meeting he would make various time-remaining announcements but made none except the last 10 second count down. It does seems the USA Climbing rule book was not read as the organization did not follow significant rules such as 6.8.12 and 6.9.1 which coincidentally are relevant with my two previous complaints about speed climbing and newly set routes, the second of which suggests that a failure to follow may result in the loss of sanctioning for the event. One of the top competitors has said they would not want to compete in regionals again if it was held at this gym. Unfortunately this is not an exhaustive list of issues. While I understand some mistakes can be made and last year there was the benefit of the doubt, there were numerous impactful mistakes made this year and this has not been the first time Active has held the southeast collegiate regionals competition. So far the only trend has been to increase issues. I'm not convinced they learn from their mistakes but I still hope they improve in that aspect. Please read the USA Climbing rule book. Edit: Indeed mis-tallied scores could not be USA Climbing's fault.
Thanks Nathan for your detailed review. We are happy that you came to our competition here. We’ve learned a lot from it. Our walls are slick for the fact that we try to “force” the moves by the holds placement on the wall and not by friction necessarily. Indoor climbing is totally different than outdoor climbing. We know we messed up the scores and the way the comp should had run. If we were to host one tomorrow it will run totally different. We fixed the scores right after everybody left. There are a lot of things we wished we’ve done differently. USA Climbing was aware of it and we got everything squared away. We take full responsibility for it and it’s not USA Climbing’s fault. It was a nice day and we opened the doors to pull the chalk out of the air, since the bouldering section had a lot of traffic with you guys in there. At every big competition we do that to pull fresh air in. We are geared towards everyone that wants to climb. But we also plan on hosting bigger bouldering events here since the space is set up just for that. We have an elevated wall system, one of a kind here in USA. Most hardcore climbers that came and climbed here really appreciated that and we are a place you can train for the World Cup since the walls are designed for that. Another unique feature we have is the twin walls, made for speed bouldering. We have hosted few big events so far here, one being Divisional’s Championship for Bouldering for Youth. We had lots of volunteers/coordinators here for that, which made it run smoothly. Not that much help here for CCS as you know it, but that will change. We for sure plan on hosting more in the future and will promise to only get better! We appreciate your input again. Adrian - Active Climbing
Fantastic experience: Great place!
Thanks Eva! We hope we’ll see you soon!
Fantastic experience: Friendly and helpful staff. Large, open facility. Varying difficties for each skill level. You don't need to have any experience to enjoy your time here. Look forward to returning!
Thanks Jason for your kind words! We appreciate you very much and we hope we’ll see you back in soon!
Fantastic experience: The staff give excellent instruction on climbing and belaying technique. The facility provides climbing shoes, as well as harnesses and ropes. There is a good variety of easier to harder/hardest walls to climb, and the ratings are clearly marked. You can pay for just one day, or get a longer membership, if climbing turns out to be your thing! A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends! I will definitely be back.
Thanks you Grace for your visit and more so for your kind words. Our staff will be so happy to hear all this and inspire them to keep it up. We hope we will see you soon!
Fantastic experience: A wonderful experience for all skill levels! Very reasonable prices! I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area, or travelling through!
Thanks Shannon! Very kind of you. Looking forward to your next visit!
Fantastic experience: Favorite place to goto. Staff is friendly (Hello Daniel.) But overall good environment.
We are so glad to hear it. See you soon. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I was visiting Augusta for a few days and decided to bring all the kiddos ages 4,5,6,7,9. Everyone had a blast, including the adults. The staff exceeded my expectations and we stayed over 3 hours. The kids keep asking when we can go back! I’d definitely recommend and would purchase the yearly pass if we lived in town. It’s perfect for all ages. -erin
Thanks Erin for your awesome review. We are so grateful you all came and enjoyed our set up. From our Active Family to yours: CHEERS!
Positive experience: Lots of fun, great for kids, and all ages, great people, great staff, communal atmosphere but more instruction would be a huge help. Definitely coming back whenever I’m in Augusta
Thank you for your feedback. Let as know next time you come, and our staff are always here to help. We do offer classes if you’d like to learn more. See you next time!
Fantastic experience: Awesome alternative to air strike and also a great gym also.
Thank you very much for your review. We really appreciate you!
Positive experience: Pros: The facility/staff is very laid-back and friendly. If you’re really into bouldering this facility has it all! Cons: Wall routes are very short. Routes are not changed frequently. Most of the top rope routes are more bouldering moves. Extreme safety concerns: Top ropes are just thrown over the rap (should be wrapped 1 1/2 times) -> this has been mentioned in other reviews and the counter argument for not being able to lower kids down is you can just tie another rope onto the back of the kids harness and lower them with assistance. Also I was there for over 2 1/2 hours there were no children in the facility that were top rope climbing. Lack of safety observation from staff for belayer’s (Witnessed multiple people with improper belay tech that is considered life threatening) I was also surprised that I was not safety checked on my belay technique considering I was new to the gym also no bouldering instructions for proper bouldering courtesies such as staying clear from climbers and proper landing/spotting techniques from high falls. Very glad to have a place like this near Augusta yet needs improvements.
Hi Danielle, thanks for your feedback. We try to get better with every day that passes by. Since we opened the bouldering section, we had focused on getting that side running properly and since routes did not get as much traffic they were left up for longer. Things will be better after the new year as we purchased a lift which will make the route-setting a joy. The double wrapped ropes will be revised although we strongly believe that if you climb outdoor you’ll not wrap the anchors twice as that can cut the ropes. The staff are aware of the safety concerns and we’ll stress them more on checking up on people. We appreciate your review and rest assure we’ll keep making things better. Happy Holidays!
Fantastic experience: Nice climbing facility with friendly, helpful staff!
Thanks John! You are very kind.
Fantastic experience: Lots of fun, learn how not strong you are.
Thanks Zach! You'll get there, no worries!
Fantastic experience: Nice climbing place. Great place to live by
Hey Jay! Glad you found us. Try come climb with us soon!
Fantastic experience: I was very impressed. We came for a children's bday party and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of walls/activities they had for children. I will definitely be back with and without kids!!!!
Thanks Joanne! Soon will start a "Ladies Night" and that's worth checking it out! But your guys are welcome anytime :)
Fantastic experience: Great staff and climbing
Thanks Evan! We are so glad you had enjoyed it. Come back soon and climb with us!
Fantastic experience: Great place for indoor climbing. All different levels of challenges for beginners to very experienced climbers. Staff is helpful and friendly.
Hi Neal, thanks for sharing your experience. Come back soon!
Fantastic experience: The staff was very helpful and accommodating, this was my first attempt at climbing and was fun. The facility was larger inside than it appears. I would recommend to try it out if you are even possibly interested.
Thanks Paul! We are so glad you came and more so that you enjoyed it. Come back again soon and climb with us.
Fantastic experience: Just an all around great place with very friendly staff. Fun spent describe it.
Thanks Jason! Thanks for taking your time to leave a review here. We appreciate it very much.
Fantastic experience: This place was so cool! I brought my 10 year old and 7 of his friends and they had a blast. It was worth the money!
Hi Angela! Thanks for your review, we are glad to know your child and his friend enjoyed it.
Fantastic experience: Great place
Thanks Jeff! We hope to see you back soon!
Fantastic experience: Im new to climbing, but the facility is pretty big with lots of different walls to climb. Staff members are friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back.
Hi Daniel, thanks for your review. Try come back when we have "The Reset" competition and you'll have the best deal the gym can get you! Every 6 weeks or so we reset the bouldering section and we host a friendly comp where everybody's a winner. Free pizza and some in house prices. Only $10! See you soon.
Positive experience: the place is great. It was a little short staffed when I went, but they a wonderful numbering system for the walls. you can belay (human counter weight) or bouldering . As being new to this, I recommend other newbies, like myself to check out bouldering first. Lower walls, less steps and builds your confidence.
Thanks Winston! We appreciate your trying us and now that you know what going on the next time around will be easier. Remember that every 6 weeks we reset the bouldering section and we have a friendly comp. low key, you'll like it and it will push you to try harder! I hope to see you back soon!
Fantastic experience: Very nice gym and awesome staff!
We appreciate your coming and hopefully we'll see you in here soon! Thanks!
Positive experience: This is the best facility I've been, for many aspects, and I've been to many gyms across the US. The prices are a bit high, although it is a large and well-maintained gym, there's only so much one can climb. I'm lucky if I can get 2 hours in a day, much less can utilize a day pass. Without gear rental, it's close to a reasonable price. That said, it is a fantastic gym full of many different levels of runs and challenging terrains and they have a specialized challenge course that they called Ninja Warrior training. Certainly a good place and they have the corner on the market in Augusta and if the prices were more reasonable I would be there more often.
Hi Chris, we appreciate your feedback. As we always try to improve and bring more elements into the space, we've got basically two different gyms in one. Some parkour gyms charge more than our basic membership and we've got the bouldering section and the rope area on top of the Ninja Room. Our friendly competition "The Reset" is the cheapest and coolest way to spend a night of climbing, where $10 will get you free pizza, new routes and a chance to win free stuff. Come climb with us again soon!
Fantastic experience: This location is always developing and adding new stuff and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a variety of challenging walls and some great bouldering and traverse walls. They also have a great yoga class and are equipped to help you train for other events, like ninja warrior and more.
Thanks Natasha! We hope to see you back soon! We now have yoga twice a week, Tue and Thu 7-8:15pm.
Fantastic experience: What an amazing facility!!! Spacious and clean, friendly staff and all over a great atmosphere!
Mr. Florin, thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you soon back in here. Cheers!
Fantastic experience: This has been one of the best places we've been to, not only are the walls a great climb, the management really goes over and beyond for the climbers. I highly recommend going here, even if it's just to check it out!
Thanks Kristen, we now have the bouldering section opened and fully functional. Come climb with us again soon!
Fantastic experience: Definitely the place you want to start and finish your day.
Late to the game here, but we just now got to respond to you. Thanks for your kind review!
Fantastic experience: Great people, Great Climbing, Something new to do in Augusta!
Hi James! It’s been a while! I hope you are doing well. Thanks for your kind review!
Fantastic experience: Great people and a great gym. No, it's not finished yet, but they are finishing the walls very quickly. It's worth every penny if you enjoy climbing!
Thanks Devin! We are still here and just now getting to say thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic experience: Nick and Nicole are awesome. Would be there everyday if my schedule would allow. I just need a door key of my own. Will be glad when they are finished and in full swing. Anxious for all of the classes to start. GREAT PLACE. Glad you are here. Thanks Adrian. We appreciate you and your wonderful staff!!!!
Thanks Cathy! Lots happened since we open, but we are still here trying to provide the experience and atmosphere Nick and Nicole started so well. I hope you are doing well and please accept a big thank you 5 years later! Cheers, Adrian
Fantastic experience: This gym is absolutely incredible! The staff is so helpful, everything is so clean and there's already a great community of climbers! Even though it's still pretty new and not all the holds are up there's still more than enough to master and it won't be much longer before everything's completed. Not to mention they have a ninja warrior room and a kid friendly room! Absolutely go and check this place out and bring your friends.
Thanks Beth! I bit late to reply, but you know.. active style :) I hope you are doing okay and I miss seeing you around here. Cheers!
Positive experience: Edit: They're now giving away a free first time and it sounds like management has improved. The place would be great if it were finished. Right now they're charging full price for a less than half finished facility. Give it a few months so they can finish the walls.
Hi Richard, I hope you are doing well! I'd love to invite you to see the gym now and how we came along. The back section is now open and it looks amazing. We are resetting all the routes every month so there is always something new and fresh. Thanks!
