Fantastic experience: All the equipment I could ask for and super clean. My favorite gym by far.
Positive experience: I love the classes here. Especially Zumba. I wish they would offer more yoga options.
Negative experience: not worth it go to a different gym
Negative experience: Clean, nice establishment and the people are very friendly. Machines are easy to figure out and adjust weight. Just plan to have an active account when you had them set it as inactive and randomly charge your bank. I’ve went in three times to have my account cancelled so I wouldn’t be charged, got charged anyway, and was never issued a refund despite my account saying it was inactive and had been for one month. Unsure if they’ll try charging me again for next month or if it’s actually inactive this time. Would not recommend here unless you plan to go to the gym the rest of your life.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym that is well stocked with free weights, machines, many treadmills and stair-steppers, ellipticals, rowing machines and TRX equipment. I have never had to wait to use a machine or piece of equipment yet. They have lots of classes as well: cycling, HIIT, and various cardio classes. There are saunas and hydrotherapy beds as well as lockers, showers and long counters with electrical outlets and mirrors for post workout. The personal trainers are friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable (a special shout-out to Ash: thank you for all of your tips, recommendations and corrections- you make my workouts so much more effective!). I highly recommend Crunch Fitness - Waterford.

Negative experience: Greasy money grab. Near impossible to cancel membership. Gym is always dirty.
Negative experience: Was a great gym untill they told me I had to leave my ID at the counter. I come in with my husband as a guest and leave at the same time. I definitely don't trust anyone enough to just leave my id with them. Won't be back. Would rather use soup cans and resistance bands at home.
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff and trainers, place is pretty clean overall, nice variety of equipment and machines. Nice positive environment.
Positive experience: Half of the TVs don't work. Are these getting replaced at some point? I've also dealt with 2 different guys at the front desk that had to ask for help from a coworker to either sign me up for a membership or change my membership.

Positive experience: Great Gym. Usually crowded. I think they picked too small of a space for the needs of this gym with this local community. They should have built it in the former K-Mart, or move over to the former LOVES furniture. It must be the smallest Crunch in the local area. Anyway, they had thier struggles with staff and cleanliness. But it's all good now with Kelsey running the joint. The fitness classes are outstanding. Especially the Ride classes - Join Toni's, Chris's, Heather's, or Lyndsey's class. All top notch!
Fantastic experience: this is the best gym i’ve ever been to!! mitch, nick and kelsie are the three best staff members ever!! they are the most accommodating and kind people ever!
Positive experience: I really like everything about it the equipment the locker room etc etc but the major problem is that it's way to packed at some point they need to consider not taking in so many people forget about going at 5pm on a Mon Tuesday wed or Thursday, all the benches ,squat racks and cables will be taking for hours and hours. That's my only big complain
Negative experience: One of the male crunch workers who was currently on shift, was in the shower area smoking a weed/thc pen with a member.
Negative experience: Don’t sign up if you don’t want to go through hell to cancel your membership. The hours that you can cancel are so tight it’s nearly impossible. Take your chances and workout at home!!
Fantastic experience: I began working out in January of this year. I was reluctant to join because I always felt that I couldn’t stick with a fitness routine. That all changed when I met Ash at my kick-off. She was so welcoming and focused on helping me achieve my goals that I signed up for training sessions with her right away. Although my goal has been weight loss she has not only been instrumental in helping me feel better physically and mentally. My fitness sessions continue to challenge me for growth but having an accountability partner at the gym has been terrific! I also want to share that I would recommend this gym to anyone beginning their fitness journey like me to seasoned athletes - they meet you where you are. The entire staff from Kelsi, Mitch, Nick, Colleen, and Dylan to the rest whom have seen in passing have made me feel so welcome and valued. I am really enjoying my experience so far!
Fantastic experience: I have hypoglycemia, which makes it incredibly hard to gain weight. For years I just allowed myself to be skinny. Still am but this gym makes me feel comfortable enough to push towards my goals of finally gaining weight (currently 3.7% BF and 15lbs underweight) I’ve found everyone in there to be welcoming, and genuinely just very nice. I may be 1/2 the size of their average gym goer, and lift 1/10th or less of what they do, but no one ever makes me feel ashamed of that here. Which means I have the confidence to keep going until I can be where I want to be with my body.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this gym to anyone. Using it is fine, but the moment you want to cancel they make you jump through ridiculous hoops. It is 2024, there is absolutely no reason besides greed to require people to come in in person to cancel their membership after they’ve moved. They want us stuck paying whether we use the membership or not. You can only cancel in person when the manager is in, which is only 9-5 Monday through Friday. Guess when most people are busy working?? I am being forced to take a day off of work to make a two hour commute just to cancel a gym membership I can no longer use. Crunch fitness needs to join the 21st century and stop holding their customers hostage with these ridiculous cancellation policies. Editing to acknowledge the reply: yes, it says you have to come in person to cancel in the contract. The contract does not however stipulate that you can only do so when the manager is in. I attempted to cancel in person on a Saturday and was told I couldn’t because the manager doesn’t work on weekends. Legal or not, it’s a predatory business practice that shows that crunch does not care about providing convenient services for their customers.

It also allows you to walk away with a cancellation document in hand which provides a member peace of mind. That said, we apologize for the frustration this has caused and wish you the best in your fitness journey.
Positive experience: I normally workout at Planet Fitness a friend talked me into trying this gym. I have never been before. Had a little bit of a hard time when arriving the guy told me that the free day pass was not free and wanted $10 although I did and up getting in for free. My friend walked me around showing me all the equipment, how to use it, and how to set the weight stack seeing plant doesn’t have half of the equipment that this gym does. When leaving the manager Jason calls us over and asked if we was friends or family. Which confused me. But proceeded to be a little disrespectful in front of me about my friend not training and gave him a warning…. Now we exit and I’m pissed off. first of all what part of never being to the gym and not even knowing how to use half of the equipment did he not get. My friend is a member at that gym and way trying to talk me into joining, I told him I was having second thoughts now. Is that how they interact with NEW comers??? Is that professional to accuse a member who was trying trying to show me the equipment and how to use it proper??? Don’t get me wrong it’s a very nice gym. Clean with a ton of equipment that I’ve never even seen before. But as someone who was wanting to transition from planet fitness to a bigger more free style gym. I’ve got reservations about it because of the way I was treated today

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing team. Love the energy they bring when anyone walks in. Love the girl who walks around and forced me to take a picture with glasses and a hat. And that big buff dude that i fight with sometimes. Oh and that manager lady that is the sweetest ever.
Negative experience: This place is filled with all sorts of people. Especially the kind that like to video record you. It's busy all the time so expect every type of gym go-er. Especially the kind that laugh at you with their buddies for being a beginner. Speaking about being a beginner, the staff will take full advantage of you not knowing what to do, so expect a personal trainer to assist in smothering your ignorance with all kinds of deals. The gym has a wide variety of weights. Maybe you'll get to use them before your mocked and video shamed just enough to consider canceling your membership.

Negative experience: The gym space itself was great. However the constant sales pitches from staff during workouts and the fact it was nearly impossible to cancel my membership made me not want to return in the future.
Negative experience: Edited and updated review The owner responded, not to correct the situation but to apologize. Apologizes are words and not action. Everyone knows what customer service should look like. This is not it. As an owner of a boxing gym I am utterly surprised by the lack of professionalism. I just cancelled my membership there after a year. Simply too busy with my employment to continue. I called two months ago and tried to cancel over the phone. They said I had to cancel in person. Last day of my year membership is Jan 10th 2024. I was told to come in a couple days before and cancel in person. I called again last week to confirm I had to do it in person and to make sure my last day was Jan 10th. I came in today Jan 9th to cancel in person. They are now charging me 90 dollars for a new annual fee for next year. This is an annual fee for a year I will not use because I no longer have a membership. Kelsi the general manger told me I was stuck paying and nothing could be done. I contacted the gym twice over the last two months and no one told me to come in 10 days prior to last day or an annual fee would be charged even though I no longer have a membership. Complete lack of professionalism and the GM’s lack of accommodation assured I will never get a membership there again. Nor will I ever recommend this gym. I am a local boxing gym owner and have had my boxing students join this crunch location. I have brought them customers and due to their staffs incompetence I am charged fees for a year I will not even attend. The General Manager Kelsi was zero help.

Negative experience: The gym is fine but the staff is so rude. The girl at the desk right now checked in my boyfriend and then totally ignored me and my sister standing right there with him and tried to go on to the next group. I had to interject to get checked in. Guess she only likes to provide service to men

Positive experience: I'm a regular, been a member for 4 years. I love the people ,classes, the turf and the equipment. That part is 5 stars The locker room is way too small, do not come after 5. It's absurd. Now I'm told the Fit3d is no longer available and the sauna is closed. That part is zero stars. Fit 3d is $230/month on revenue from 5500 members? That's too much to ask to measure your progress? Do better

Negative experience: This location is the smallest and most packed crunch. Now no sauna? Seriously that was one of the best things about this gym. Not worth the money and good luck trying to cancel. They would ignore my calls and emails. I had to call my bank to finally get them to stop charging me and then they tried charging my credit card. Its too bad to see a good gym run down by poor management.

Negative experience: Isn't ran well, better to make your home location another Crunch. I've had issues for months and they make it tough to be able to cancel your membership.
Negative experience: Customer Service is horrible. My son has been trying to cancel his membership for over a month. He is away at college. Why cant he just call in and cancel, he should not be made to drive over a hundred miles to cancel his membership.

Negative experience: I signed up when they first opened I was the first few ppl let me tell you this this place is nasty now filthy bathrooms are sick and my wife had to put towels on the floor cuz of the stand up tanning were nasty she said was nasty public hair all over and she had to disinfect the stand up herself. Might be time to look even though I got first sign up deals ill add pic next time I go ill take some.

Fantastic experience: If you're looking to elevate your fitness journey without paying a hefty premium, Crunch is the way to go. We started at Planet Fitness, but we eventually grew out of it and landed at Crunch. Although there is much more foot traffic and can be quite loud, the switch was worth it in the end.

Negative experience: They make it so hard to cancel your membership. You have to go to there only when the manager is there which unfortunately for me was while I was working, so then I wasn’t able to cancel my membership 10 days before my bill hit so I got charged for a whole freaking month that I can’t even use. I also called this location twice and twice I was told the manager would call me back and they never did. Horrible.

Negative experience: My partner and I compete in weightlifting. My coach is located in Ann Arbor, so I was looking for a place closer to home to train. We saw Crunch had platforms for training and we were super excited to find a place that accommodates our sport. However, I was extremely disappointed to find out that Crunch actually only supports men in strength sports. For competitive weightlifting lifting and powerlifting women have to lift on a 33lbs/15kgs barbell. Crunch did not have a single 15kg barbell. They did have at least 12 45lbs/20kgs barbells. I was shocked to find out that my partner as a male would be able to train at Crunch, but I would not be able to. Crunch needs to support women in sports.

Negative experience: With all these questionable 1 star reviews, I am anxious to sign up with this gym. I emailed them twice with inquiries and they never responded. I didn't think it would be so hard to give a gym your money. Then I see all the reviews on how hard it is to cancel your membership. Communication is obviously not their strong suit and not worth my time or money.

Negative experience: Took my friend here as a guest and they were very adamant about getting his ID, no big deal. Done with workout and try to get the ID back and they gave it to someone else ?? do they not ask for last name before searching for the ID itself or is it because he was black and just assumed it was him. weirdos. now who knows how long we are gonna be here for because my friend can’t drive without it

Negative experience: Staff is always pleasant, but you must physically come in to cancel. If not, you must show proof that you can’t come in. In my case If it’s medical they ask for medical proof?! How intrusive and greasy of them. Will never go back or recommend to a friend. I understand it may be in the contract but asking for proof of its medical? Unreal money grab by them.
Negative experience: This place was nice when it opened, now it’s a mess and unclean. The mens lockerroom never has towels and the sauna clearly doesn’t get mopped or cleaned. THE STAFF IS TOO LAZY TO CLEAN, THEY WOULD RETHER PLAY ON THEIR PHONES AND FLIRT. The management clearly doesn’t care because this has been the clear program for staff for the last year.

Fantastic experience: This place is great. The staff is always friendly and greets you whenever you walk in the door. The locker room and bathrooms have always been clean. I also have a Personal Trainer (Adam) who has been awesome to work with, he's very knowledgeable and has given me alot of valuable skills on weight lifitng for proper form and how to properly stretch pre and post workout. He explains things in detail and in a way I can comprehend. Thank you Adam for your time and knowledge

Negative experience: Staff members and managers were very unhelpful and unresponsive when I tried to rectify a billing issue. It took several phone calls just to speak with a .manager. I do not recommend signing up here.

Negative experience: Mens locker room is consistent FILTHY... sink and soap dispensers have been broke for months and now the paper towel dispenser is broken. When i asked the staff about the situation i was told it was "above their pay grade".... the place has turned into a joke

Negative experience: I have had the worst experience with this gym. I have been calling for months to cancel my membership because I have moved away and they have yet to get back to me. I have emailed multiple times and filled out the form they sent through my email that said someone would reach out to me in 1-2 days and no one has yet to reach out from weeks ago, I also drove an hour and a half one day to go cancel in person and they told me I couldn’t because the manger wasn’t there but someone would call me Monday, that was three weeks ago.I keep getting large charges sent to my card one for $80 and now a $97. I have had no contact and no other way to contact so maybe this will catch someone’s attention. This is the worst customer service ive ever experienced anywhere!

Positive experience: 4 stars only because of the night staff. They have all of the equipment you could need and then some for the price. The night staff usually are not at the desk and everything is much dirtier at night (maybe short staffed or just due to sheer volume of people not sure) However in the morning Sean absolutely kills it, everything is cleaned, he cleans during his shift and he is attentive to gym members who need help at the desk. He is by far the best employee at the location.

Negative experience: If you go to a gym for the classes, I think Crunch is hard to beat. The place is pretty cramped with the spacing on the equipment. But ultimately their advertising, billing, and contract practices sent me over to planet fitness instead. Crunch requires automatic withdrawal from a checking account (or pay a $5 fee for CC), you're on the hook for the delayed annual fee the instant you sign up, regardless of what is "free" or a trial, or just "$1 to sign up", and cancellation requires in-person or mailed notice. There's just one too many signs here that they're making sure they get their money regardless if you're enjoying the service.
Hello Brandon. You are correct--CRUNCH (like most fitness facilities) do not charge the Annual Fee when you join--but chooses to delay the charge so your initial payment is lower. Regardless you still get a great deal on the first month to join. Sorry it did not workout for you--and wish you the best going forward.
Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP HERE IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM! I had a membership here for about 6 months and I had to put it on hold while I was traveling. then out of the blue I had a $68 charge to my account and they said it was annual dues I was never told that there were any dues when I signed up and to top it off when I complain the staff did not care and said it was stated in your contract. So unless you want to give someone freedom to take money from your account with any notice or explanation do not sign up here!
Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been training with Chelsea Young at Crunch Fitness Waterford for the past 6?months. She is phenomenal! She is always positive and encouraging in addition to being very knowledgeable! Chelsea takes the time to get to know us personally so she can understand our struggles and our goals. She is by far the best trainer we have ever worked with and she is stuck with us!

Negative experience: I joined the gym right before it was shut down for Covid. I paid over $800 to work with a trainer. Two weeks later the gym was shut down. When it opened again went in and asked for a refund. At the time I was the sole caregiver of my 100% disabled Vet and I did not feel comfortable being in public. BTW, my husband was 82 and I was 75. Months later I went back, when covid restrictions were scaled back. NOPE refused....THIS is their level of customer service. Beware, clearly they are not an ethical company. (and also have no regard for our disabled vets health and welfare. Interesting concept for a HEALTH club huh!

Fantastic experience: I'm currently a member of Crunch and I'm also a Personal Training client. I joined Crunch because I previously went to Powerhouse and felt it was dark and small and didn't motivate me. Crunch is big and colorful with many varieties of weights, machines and cardio. It's never overly crowded and everyone is courteous about sharing equipment if it is. I train with Sue, the PT manager, and since working with her I have lost 15 pounds in three months. She makes workouts fun and interesting, and to top it off, we have great conversation in-betwees sets. The PT staff as a whole is very knowledgeable and always get continuing education on how to always bring the latest workouts and innovations to their clients. I highly recommend working out at Crunch.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym ! I’ve been going to crunch for some time now.when I first started going here I was nervous and didn’t exactly know what I wanted to do or where to start. I was lucky enough to be able to train with Chelsea. She is amazing !!!! I always feel good every time after training with her.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a great personal trainer look no more! Taylor Booher is hands down amazing. She has a positive attitude at all times, she pushes you to do your best and then some. She showed up for me at 5am, never late and always had a smile. Absolutely loved starting my morning with Taylor. Crunch is definitely the best gym, call and ask for a session with Taylor. You will not regret it!

Negative experience: Beware of random fees and contracts. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET A PERSONAL TRAINER HERE. Their contract is a scam as they'll keep charging you if you have to reschedule even though their contract states that you are okay if you are 24 hours ahead of time. They make sure to autorenew your contract even if you only want 3 months (which is supposed to be offered). I'm now out $300 because they refuse to refund me for 8 weeks of personal training that I didn't want in the first place. Half of the sessions were led by me instead of the trainer. Paying $50 a session to have someone watch me do my normal workouts isn't worth it. And now they are not responding to me instead of handling the payment situation. On top of that, they randomly charge their members "maintenance fees" of upwards of $45 with no prior notice. There are only 3 squat racks so you have to go at random hours if you don't want to wait 20 minutes for a rack. There are better gyms around and I highly recommend going to them instead.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I joined crunch for it's location, amenities, and because there's personal trainers. I've been working with trainer Susan Russell since April. She is awesome! I would highly recommend her. She's a great trainer. I like that she challenges me, and very easy to work with. If you are looking for a personal trainer, I can't recommend Sue Russell enough.

Fantastic experience: I gave this crunch a five star not because of that staff but because of the gym it’s a great place very clean. Be careful who you deal with they don’t higher all the best employees. They will scam you for a business they make 200$ a week at. Crazy blows my mind. FYI if you try to cancel out of state don’t let them lie and say you have to come in because it’s a lie. Took 1 employee and 2 managers to be hung up on and then lied about being able to send me a contract. Then 10 min into the conversation they said I can’t even see the contract until I come in. Then pointed me to the app to try and confuse me like I wouldn’t try it. Which he proceeded to tell me “we’ll I actually don’t know if it’s on there or not I’m not familiar with that”. finally to reach my good man Shawn whom is also a manager said “he’s kinda at the bottom of the line” but was extremely helpful took a total of 5 min. Sent me a contract, answered all my questions extremely apologetic and said I don’t not need to come in to cancel. Did a non in person cancellation which means he signed with my consent to make sure I did not have to come in. Idk how high he is in management but he needs a boss man spot with the customer service he was able to provide!!! Remember this gym is a great place just be careful who helps you with your contact. Fantastic experience: Always clean, usually not too crowded, and plenty of equipment to change things up. Most everyone is respectful and chill. Bonus: you get a free session with a personal trainer, which is cool if you don't know where to start!
